Live multi-tack recording problem, GB & Firepod

I recorded my band live, 8 inputs (DI's & mics), each assigned to its own channel in GB. I had each channel "enabled" for recording (red dot on). The lines were coming out of the board & each had signal. Yet once we started recording, only one channel would record at a time. I'm on a new macBook (OSX 10.4.8), didn't download any drivers, but the mac recognized the firepod immediately. What am I missing? Is this a Core Audio issue? I'd appreciate any help.

I was using the Firepod (presonus). I know I had selected all 8 channels, made sure they were all enabled before I went up to play. A friend who has more GB experience than I (but not familiar with Firepod), ran the computer while we were playing and he tried during the whole performance to get it to record on more than one channel but it wouldn't. Maybe he'll respond to this too.
That was an out of town gig, just got home last night. I'll set it all up this evening and try again, see if it will work and get back with you.

Multi-voice recording problem ( M-Audio USB )

Hi all...
after using my digi-cam as a pre-amp for my two radio mics, I decided it was time I bought a dedicated pre-amp / audio interface. I bought the MobilePre-USB from M-Audio. My problem is this:
I'm attempting to have the two voices on separate tracks. I basically know how to do this, by selecting each track and clicking the little red record button for multi-track recording. Then, I change one to 'channel 1 mono' and the other to 'channel 2 mono'.
In the back of the M-Audio device I have one mic plugged into the XLR socket and the other mic into the stereo mini-jack.
What I end up with is that one mic records on one track, yet the other records on both.
I have no idea why! Could it be because they should both be plugged into the XLR points?
Any help would be great.

Haven't tried this, but I think not only have I figured it out, but I'm also a little dumb.
I need to use a mono-jack into the stereo mini-jack and then it will only record onto one track as it's only using one channel
Or.. will a mono jack into the stereo jack STILL record onto both channels?

SQL* Loader - Multi-line record problem

Hi all,
I've been given a ver dirty source file. One that has records of more than 1 line. The only record terminator that is available is that the first columns should always be in number in 7 digits (0000000-9999999). Is it possible to create a control file that checks if the current record is actually a new record or if it is just a continuation of the previous record?
I've been checking on some parameters like the CONTINUEIF and the "str terminator_string".
I tried both but neither fully satisfies the requirements.
I tried using CONTINUEIF by adding CONTINUEIF THIS (1) = '0' to check if it only creates records that has a column value starting with '0'. Unfortunately it still adds those that doesn't start with '0'.
Also tried the INFILE 'mydata.dat' "str '\r\n0'". This works for those who starts with 0 only but unfortunately it trims out the first zero (0) from that column.
Can someone suggest any other approach?

thanks for the suggestion. i did try it. it works ok but i also found a way to use sql loader since this is better performance wise. i used
CONTINUEIF NEXT PRESERVE (8) <> X'09'.
basically, what this does is check if the character on the 8th position is a tab. if it is, then it's a new line. i used this since the first column in my text file uses a 7 digit number. it's not perfect but loads fast. although i'm still looking for some other ways and means.

Hey, just need some help on multi tracking using audition, hope this is the right forum?
Wanted to know if anyone has a clue about assigning inputs from an audio interface to separate tracks on a recording program (ie: Adobe audition)
I record live with my band alot, and have every amp and the kit mic'd up, but how do i make it so that each microphone is recording to a different track on the PC?
My interface is an M audio fast track ultra, if that is of any use.
Any advice appreciated! Thanks!

In Audition, assuming that you can see all of the inputs available in the Hardware Setup, you find the right-facing arrow (input assign) on each track in MV's Main view, and you click on the box it's pointing to, go to Mono, and select the input you want for that particular track. The mono ones say [01M], [02M], etc. If you want to record a stereo track, then select the Stereo option where the inputs are paired and say [01S] et seq. This would have input 1 as left, input 2 as right.
If you can't see all of the inputs available, try selecting the ASIO driver in Hardware Setup...

SB X-Fi and Multi-Track Recording

I have a SB X-Fi card pre-installed on my new Windows7 computer & I'm using Cakewalk HomeStudio7 for multi-track recording. The SB card is working OK. I can record from the Line-In correctly.
However, when I record in a new audio track, the other audio tracks are also mixed in, rather than just being audible in the mix.
I didn't have this problem with a generic sound card. I'm fairly certain there is a SB setting somewhere that will disable audio from being recorded and just use the Line-In instead. No idea where to look however. I don't believe this is related to Cakewalk.
How do you keep the SB Audio output from being included in a recording? It's not connected to the Line-In & Line-In is the default with everything else disabled.

As I understand, the digital IO module only works with some but not all x-fi cards.
Your reciever/amplifier has to decode the DTS or other 5. encoded stream. Check to see what format your reciever can understand, and make sure that you have checked those in the Control Panel / Sound / Advanced applet. If your amp supports a particular format only (and bit depth and sample rate) you might need to make sure the card is set for that and you might possibly even need a source in that format.
The 5. channels are in one data stream, the reciever decodes it; I think they mostly autodetect the protocols they can decode. However, if you decode it in the card, you can send out the 5. analog channels to the analog inputs on your amplifier.

Recording problem on my Xi-Fi Fatality?

'Recording problem on my Xi-Fi Fatality?d So I have a Xi-Fi Fatality, and I would like to be able to record directly from my computer so that it's own output is also the input. For example, if I'm on ventrillo or something and I want to play a funny mp3 to show my friends I'd like to be able for the audio to come directly from the output.
Anyways, my microphone seems to work fine, and that's where the trouble begins.
I go to the sound control panel and click on the recording tab. ? It has microphone as the default device and it says "working."
There are also options for "Auxillary" "Line-In" "Digital-In" and "What U Hear"
However, under each of them it says "currently unavailable"
I am unable to get any of them to function even when I set them to the default device.
Is this normal?

Actually this is kind of weird. Every now and then my "Aux 2" will become available and my mic is not. I have to restart my computer 4 or 5 times for my mic to become available.

Pass a Collection of multi-column records from JAVA to Plsql

Hi,
I need to pass a Collection of multi-column records(say Employee Id, Employee Name and Employee Address) from a JAVA application to an Oracle package/stored procedure
for data processing and updates.
I initially thought of using a pl/sql table as an input parameter, but then I came to know that a pl/sql table can have ONLY one column and an index (can be a String in
the case of an Associative Array). Please let me know if my understanding is wrong here.
I then thought of using a PL/SQL table with a RECORD type as an element. But, I came across a documentation that says that, Oracle JDBC does not support RAW, DATE, and PL/SQL RECORD as element types.
Could you please let me know how I can pass multi-column records from JAVA to an Oracle Stored procedure as an input parameter? Millions of rows would be sent by the JAVA program to the Oracle Stored procedure.

There are several examples in the " Working with Oracle Collections" from the "JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference". You can either use a Map to create Java objects that are created with the Oracle objects data or the generic oracle.sql.STRUCT interface.

Multi-Owner Diskset problem with SC3.1U4 & Solaris 10

Hi All,
My Problem is after configured the mulit-owner diskset of SVM. If either one node has been restarted/rebooted. The rebooted node can't join back to the diskset like below status. I have tried to use some metaset commands to put the rebooted node to join backed the diskset but failed.
After both nodes rebooted. Then I run "metaset" command on both nodes, the status seems can't synchronize. "See below status for detail"

I have party fixed the multi-owner diskset problem after create the resource for SUNW.rac_framework, SUNW.rac_udlm & SUNW.rac_svm. But the new problem is generated. The new problem is if two nodes are up, then the multi-owner diskset can be access via two nodes. But if either one node is down, the remain node can�t access the diskset (but the scstat status is fine). For example: node2 is down, node1 is up. Then multi-owner diskset membership of node1 is lost. If node1 is down, node2 is up. Then multi-owner diskset membership of node2 is lost. After both nodes become online, the diskset will resume to normal and can be access.

Multi channel record in STP v3

has any done any multi channel recording in STP3. what were your results.

If you don't want to automate the Auxes use Kontakt's automation parameters instead. Click on the Autotab in Kontakt and drag a parameter e.g. #001 to any knob in Kontakt (like e.g. the volume Master fader of an instrument). Then automate that paramter in Logic. This way you only need the Midi track in the Arrnage and not the Aux. Most Instruments fro the Kontakt library have many automation parameters already assigne, they are displayed in the Autotab.

Multi Track Recording for a dummies (please help!)

Background:
I've tried to search these forums and others for an answer to this question, but there is almost too much info out there and a lot of it is pretty confusing (for example: http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/Tutorials/AggregateDevice.html )
The Goal:
My nephew would like to record multiple tracks of audio into Garage Band at the same time. For example, 4 people each singing at the same time. (by the way, he has a brand new MacBook).
Neither he nor I know much about music equipment these days, although I have some experience from the early 90s.
From what I can tell, there are 2 options:
1) Use a multi-track recorder.
Like this: http://www.zzounds.com/item--FOSMR8MKII ). First you record onto the included compact flash card, then you then you import each track into Garage Band (one track at a time?).
2) Record all 4 tracks directly into Garage Band.
Option 2 seems like the best for his needs, but we can't quite figure out what device is needed. Somewhere we read that we need a "4 track audio interface" but somewhere else someone said that an audio interface would mix all 4 tracks together into 1. I also have no idea who the best manufacturers are these days, etc. I don't even know enough to do a decent google search.
We're not looking for something top-of-the-line. Just something solid and reliable with decent sound quality. Hoping to keep it under $250. He knows he is going to have to dive in and really learn Garage Band, but we are hoping that there is something out there that is as close to plug-and-play as possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i can't help but ask: what did you not understand in that? it shows you step by step what to click, there really isn't anything to understand, just follow the steps.
Well, the title of my post does say "for dummies" (actually its says "for a dummies" - nice proof reading on my part).
But to answer your question (if you really want to know), its daunting for someone with zero point zero Garage Band experience. Put yourself in the position of someone with no Garage Band knowledge whatsoever. Then read that post. It assumes that the reader at least knows why they are on that page, as opposed to having stumbled onto it through some random google link. It doesn't actually say up front anywhere that this is for recording multiple tracks into Garage Band. In fact, none of the steps are done inside Garage Band - its in a utility called "Audio Midi Setup."
I am not saying that its poorly written, or unclear, I just didn't "get it" at first. Keep in mind that I am working in the dark here and trying to get up the learning curve as quickly as I can. This is all new stuff to me - and I am just trying to help out my nephew.
Now subsequent to my original post, I found a FAQ on that site and then found this: http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/Tutorials/RecordingMultipleTracks.html So now I understand that you can either use an "interface", or create this so called "aggregate device". Little by little its all falling into place. ( Also its seems like that is a really good site for Garage Band info. )

that's a silly thing to say, it depends on the interface, the one linked to above will record to separate tracks.
Again, I am stumbling around in the dark. Cut me some slack. How was I supposed to know that something someone else wrote was silly?
But MOST importantly, you did give me a link to a device that will do what he wants, the Alesis MultiMix 8 USB. Thank You!!! Now if we could find one that's a little cheaper I'd really be in business.

Multi-Line records with Condition?

Hello, Can somebody help me with this query please?
Can we have conditional 'Data Merge'? To give an example: I have a CSV file with multi line records referencing to a CUSTOMERID (ie:Parent - Child type relation). So on each page (ie:each CUSTOMERID) I need to print all records for that CUSTOMERID.
I think we have to use the 'Scripting' option for this, but don't know how to use/run this at "DYNAMIC PRINT".

I would suggest that you check the settings in the Multiline Style block for Address Standardization style. There are settings available here for combining address data. Verfiy which ones you have enabled. Also in this same block is a setting for Swap Address Line, which controls where blank lines will be moved for output.
If you require more detailed information regarding this, I would recommend that you log an incident via the SAP Service Marketplace (service.sap.com), so that support can provide assistance with researching this issue.
You will need your S-User login information in order to log an incident.
When creating the incident, make sure to enter the component BOJ-EIM-COR so that your question is directed to the correct support team for << product name>>.

Record Store only reads one record problem

I have a problem where I can read and write a record to a records store, but i can not do this for multiple records as i am trying with below code. Any help is very welcomes thank you, I am very new to J2ME.
I have a J2ME midlet that calls the startRecordStore() method which create a record 1.
It uses a static int records and it increments it every time a new recordstore is created, well I am not entirely sure if i need to do this. Because I want to go through all the records created.

PROBLEM it only displays the last record, instead of more then one record.

I don't know where you're calling startRecordStore(), but you're creating a new record store for each "records".
Shouldn't you be just opening the record store "StudentStore", and them adding records to that store?

How can I get the "Multi-Camera Record" button to show up in the Multi-Camera editor?

I've used the Multi-Camera editor in Premiere for years but in the most recent update (Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014) I can't get the Multi-Camera Editor to record my camera switches. I looked for the Multi-Camera Record button but it wasn't where it used to be, and even when hitting the plus sign to add more buttons it does not appear in that menu either.
What am I missing here? Please help. Thank you.
