Live-office and images

Hello,
I am trying to insert webi tables in which I have embedded images (eg. in alerts), but the images seem not to be transferred.
Would anyone know whether this is expected behavior, or whether I should expect to get my images transferred to eg. powerpoint.

Thanks for the info. We have also tried images on alerts in Webi, without success. These images does not pull through to a Live Office document. We have to insert LO content into a Excel spreadsheet. The images used in the Webi alert, does not show in Excel. I guess the same will be valid for Power Point and Word, as you pointed out.
For now, we are testing another work around. This, I guess will be helpful to you, if your end goal is just to have LO content in Excel or PowerPoint.
We use the alphabetic equavilant of Wingding 'smile face' (J) and Wingding 'sad face' (L). Within your Webi alert definition screen, you define as formula: ="L" and ="J" for the two alerts you want to create. Matching values will then reflect either a alert with a "L" or a "J" when the Webi report is run.
We then start MSExcel, and through LO, import the Webi report into Excel. You will now note that the 'L" or "J" for the particular alert has been pulled into Excel.
All that we do now is to change the font of the column where the alerts is displayed to Wingdings. The appropriate smile or sad face is now shown for the alert. If we refresh and choose a different posting period for instance, and the underlying letter changes due to the alert settings, the displayed Wingding also changes accordingly.
You can even use Conditional Formatting within Excel to change the backroung color of the particular cell to show green, when the cell is populated with letter "J" and red when populated with letter "L".
So we ended up with a working alert in Excel, using LO. We changed the alphabetic letters reflected from the Webi report alerter, to Wingdings in Excel, and we used Conditional Formatting to change the background color to show corresponding red or green.
This is not a perfect solution, as your Webi report will show "L" or "J" for alerts in Infoview.

Can't connect SAP BW via Live Office and Crystal Report

Hi all,
I got error when I tried to refreh with connection refresh button in below environment.
Does anyone know the cause of this problem?

Yes, I can see the Live Office tab. When I try to connect to the server to insert a crystal report I get the message "constructor exception (error: WSE 99999) Unknown error "-1""

I can in Excel in Live office but not in Word. As per the first message, I cannot see an option in Crystal to publish a crystal report. Do you know how I can do this? As I understand I need to publish it to the server and then Live Office will be able to see it.

Xcelsius, Live Office, and Crystal Reports Migration Problem

Hi Experts,
I have a problem when migrating Xcelsius dashboards from dev environment to production environment. In my dev environment, I have Crystal Reports which are published from BW dev environment and Xcelsius dashboards consuming the data in these Crystal Reports.
When I try to migrate from dev environment to production environment, I first transport Crystal Reports from BW dev environment to BW production environment and publish them to BOE production environment from BW production environment. Then I use Import Wizard to migrate Xcelsius dashboards from BOE dev environment to BOE production environment. But this way, the live office connections inside the Xcelsius dashboards break because the underlying Crystal Reports cannot be found.
The other option I can think of is migrating Crystal Reports using Import Wizard rather than transporting them to BW production environment and publishing them to BOE production environment from there. After the migration using Import Wizard, modify the database connection of these reports in CMC. I usually do this for Crystal Reports connecting other data source than BW. I haven't tried this with BW reports yet, because I think publishing is the right way to do it.
I'm on BO Edge 3.0, Crystal Reports 2008 V0, and Xcelisus 2008 SP1. And I don't have much upgrade options. Currently, I can only upgrade to BO Edge 3.1 and I don't think that makes any difference.
So how do you migrating Xcelsius dashboards, connecting to BW Crystal Reports via Live Office connection?

Edge 3.1 has quite a few bug fixes over 3.0 and then I believe you would want CR2008 SP1. But without upgrading anything BO products usually link information via unique identifiers such as the SI_CUID, If you use the IW for everything this is sure to be preserved. If not then I do not know but a good possibility from your symptoms is the CR SI_CUID may have been changed by the way you migrated it. If you are unable to make progress you may consider opening an incident with the BO deployment team but if it's a bug you will need to upgrade to 3.1.

Live Office and QaaWS on IIS. Is it posible?

Anybody knows if it will posible in next releases like XI 3.0?

Hello Gaota,
The Live Office component connects to BusinessObjects Enterprise using the BusinessObjects Enterprise Web Services Provider. The Provider for XI Release 2 and XI 3.0 are Java-based, and must be deployed on a Java Web Application Server.
The Provider for the next Service Pack for BusinessObjects Enterprise will remain Java-based.

Live Office Document not opening in Excel

I have installed Live Office and I can connect to my CMS and my reports are visible. When I try and import one it goes through several dialogs of "Importing Report" and "Updating Data" but then it just returns to the Select Report screen and never actually OPENS the report. It feels to me like a display/control permission thing... but I have completely disabled my Symantec Firewall and I still have the same problem Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Remove duplicate records in Live Office, caused by CR Groups

hello all
i have a CR with groups. all works well, until i use the report in live office, were it is duplicating the group data for each of the detail records
i have removed the details from the CR report, leaving only the group data, but it still happens
anyone have a work around ?

Hi,
First you select the report name from the left panel and check whether option is coming on not.
or you try with right click on any report cell then go to live office and object properties.
Second , you are getting duplicate record in the particular this report or all reports.And how many time highlight expert you are using in this report.

BICS environment with live Office or QAWS connection

we have a scenario where Hierarchy's needs to be incorporated in the xcelsius dashboards, currently we have dashboards using live office and using webi query we are building hiearchey (L00, L01, L02, ..., L09) and we developed a custom xcelsius component to display as Hiearchey dropdown.
Now we are moving to use BICS environment, how can we leverage the Hierarchy like senario (Hier is auth relevant) ??
is there any way we can leverage live office or some other form of connections when publishing to Net weaver Portal ??

it already takes about 15 minutes to display the option window.
When the option window appears and I enter my credentials for the login, that login requires another 10 minutes but finally succeeds.
After that the import of BO content works quite well. The delay only occurs during the starting phase of Live Office.
It seems that the whole application is not working properly.
The thing is, I already tried to reinstall Live Office once and the delay times are still there.
Another idea?

Live Office Install

How can I get a client software version of Live Office. My company has a temporary lisence for BOBJ and I want to test out Live Office. Where can I get this software? Do I need to install it on my machine or does it have to be on the BOE server?

if you are using XI R2 SP1.
you can find it on the Sources CD, an extra CD comes with the businss objects SP1 software CDS.
if you are using XI R2, you should have SP2 installed, to be able to get the live office, and you will find it in the productivity package.
if you are using XI 3.0, you need to download the life office connector.
you need to install it on the client machine.
and over all you can download anything from the ESD website, if you have an access for it.

Live Office - Outlook. Disabled from beginning?

Hello, we are preparing packages to install BO Live office in our customers and we came accross with this Bug of Live Office and Outlook.
I know that if i go to C:\Program Files>Business Enterprise 12.0\Live Office 12.0 I can execute enable_addin.exe and disable LiveOffice for Outlook.
but...can i do this somehow BEFORE the users come accross with the bug?
Kind of macro or something that disables this option BEFORE the bug appears.

This is due to a security patch for Outlook which forces Outlook-addins to ask the user for a confirmation before taking over the control over the mail client.
You can try to deactivate the LiveOffice add-in just for Outlook:

Xcelsius+Live office

I am getting a Cross tab from Webi to Xcelsius using Live office and Embed into a spread sheet..
Intially there were 4 rows in the spreadsheet which change dynamically according to the parameter which I pass..
When my parameter value changes I got 2 new rows and additional 2 rows from existing spreadsheet..I mean its Overwriting the spreadsheet with out removing the Previous valus..
Please Provide workaround for this..

What I am trying to say is that
Intially When I give certain Parameter I have total 4 rows embarded to the spreadsheet.
When I Change the Parameter in the dashboard...I should get total 2 rows ,But I am getting total 4 rows i.e. 2 from Existing spreadsheet and 2 rows accroding to new parameter..
So when I change Parameter its overwring two rows and Leaves the rest two rows as it was with our removing it.

Live Office missing from Productivity pack

Hi Experts, I see that when I'm trying to install Productivity Pack, it doesn't have "Live Office" and "QaaWs" while I am looking at the "Getting Started" document, I see that they're supposed to be a part of this installation. Am I missing something here? Am I looking at the wrong documentation? Please guide.

This is what is listed in the "xir2pp_Getting Started_en" guide:
"Productivity Pack release
The BusinessObjects XI Release 2 Productivity Pack release includes the
following installation packages:
u2022 Productivity Pack
Includes Business Process BI Services, Content Search, and Voyager
u2022 Live Office for Productivity Pack
u2022 Query as a Web Service for Productivity Pack"
But when I click on setup.exe and it shows the components, it only shows
- Business Process BI Services
- Content Search and
- Voyager
and I do not see Live Office and QaaWs as is listed here. Can anybody guide me on this?

Invalid Pointer - Live Office - after in/uninstalling Live Office 3.0

Hi Everyone, thanks for your help in advance.
When I add use Live Office to add an object into Excelsius, I get a "Invalid Pointer" error when I select the report.
Also receiving a .NET error when shutting down the computer
Object reference not set to an instance of the object.
Steps to reproduce:
- Business Objects XIR2 installed
- Xcelsius 2008 installed
- Live Office Productivity Pack XIR2 installed
1. Installed Live Office 3.0
2. Uninstalled Live Office 3.0
Steps taken to resolve:
- Restarted all BOE Servers
- Restarted computer
- Reinstalled Xcelsius 2008
- Reinstalled Live Office XIR2 Productivity Pack
- Reintalled .NET Framework

Hi Steve,
Live Office is only supported when it is connected to the same version of BusinessObjects Enterprise, eg XI R2 with XI R2, 3.0 with 3.0. Unfortunately, you are attempting to connect Live Office 3.0 with BOE XI R2. This is not supported and you may run into problems.
Beyond that, I would highly recommend reading the Release Notes for both Live Office and Xcelsius, paying particular attention to the sections in each dedicated to the other program. Live Office within Xcelsius does not have the full functionality or feature set of Live Office in MS Office applications.

Customer Message: 0020079747 - Live Office 3.0: Date values incorrect

In briefu2026 date fields are being altered by 12 hours when imported into Live Office 3.0. Is there a fix for this or a workaround until a fix is generated?

I sat with the user yesterday after posting this and tried to replicate the error.
The Crystal Report is pulling data from an Oracle View which contains 3 elements:
1) Universe "a" which defines the business level security
linked to
2) Oracle view "b" containing all the key fields to display on the report
linked to
3) Oracle view "c" simply and oracle table filled with additional data
we were able to replicate the error if we made any change to the Crystal report and resaved it under the same name to enterprise 'infoview' repository - the report being simply a data dump for the excel pivot table containing the live office add-in. Then we opened Excel>Live Office and clicked 'refresh all objects' and were able to reproduce the error.
If we leave the report as is and change anything in the Oracle view and then go back to live office and refresh we do not get the error. We determined the error is created because whenever the crystal report is changed and resaved "published" to enterprise, the 'database logon' at the folder level in the CMC 'forgets' or drops the password - it automatically depopulates the password field.
To avoid this error all developers must readd the password any time they make a change to an existing report. I suppose my real question then is: Is there any way to avoid this issue? Is there a way to make the CMC remember the database logon password for a report even when it is edited and republished under the same name?

I need to schedule a WebI report, let's say everynight, and to use the last instance as a data source for a dashboard (via Live Office)
