Live office-connection disconnected

Hi,
I have live office connection problem in Xcelsius 2008. When I see into connections,live office connection is showing as disconnected. Right now, I am using Live Office SP1 and Xcelisus SP3
Can any one help me resolve this problem?

Hi Rajesh,
In design time it will show the status disconnected but in run time it will work. So status is not an issue.

Hi Mahendra,
Confirm if you are getting the same issue outside Xcelsius i.e in the Microsoft Excel.
Try refreshing the Live office objects in MS excel using the option "Refresh all objects "and then import .xls it in Xcelsius.

Live Office Connection not showing Go to Object Option

Hi All,
i m using Xcelsius Enterprise 4.5. I have created a dashboard in which I m having a live office connection. I had added the live office connection from a Webi Report, Binded the Prompt and created a live office connection to the server. The report was working fine.
After a couple of days when I open the report again I find the Go to Object has been disabled in the report and the Modify Object shows only Properties option. The Refresh Object also does not work.
Could you tell me what has gone wrong and how to fix it.

I am still on Xcelsius 2008 but faced similar refresh disabled problems. May be this helps:
These days I maintain a Live Office Excel spreadsheet and import it into Xcelsius after any kind of changes.
You can maintain the data connections part within Xcelsius as required, but treat Live Office Excel report as a separate unit and set up all the refresh properties at report part level before you import it into and start developing the Xcelsius.
This way the refresh never gets affected and it works every time.

Problem with Cross Tab in Live Office Connectivity

Hi Experts,
I am using Live Office Connectivity to build a Xcelsius Dashboard.
The webi Report has data in 4 cross tabs which comes to Xcelsius as 4 LO Connections.
The size of the Xcelsius Doc is around 900K. I am getting "Xcelcius has stopped working " error when i preview the document.
Earlier i have built dashboards on Webi Report which used Verticle tables(more than 1 MB in size). I am able to preview them and generate SWF without any problem.
I am working on Xcelsius SP3 on Vista OS with 2 GB RAM.
Is using Cross Tab, responsible for the Application Crash or any other reason?
Please help me in solving the above problem at the earliest.

Webi cross tabs via Live Office connection should work. Pls see this [post|Re: Does Xcelsius support Cross Tab report via Live Office?; for more detail.
Pls let me know what version of Xcelsius you are using because this error is known to popup when some of the dlls are not registered as well.

Error #1009 Live Office Connections

Hi,
I created a dashboard in Xcelsius 2008, with live office connections. When I'm testing (select an options with combo box, and show me tool bars, datasheets....) it on Infoview, the following message appears by surprise on a grey background:
"An error has ocurred.
For more information, contact the file creator or your system administrator.
Error: Error #1009
Connection type: Live Office Connection"
When I try again (the same combination) , the results appears correctly.
Apparently, the live office connection doesn't return all query results at the first time.
Any idea what's the problem? and how can I solved it?

Hi,
You Didn't mentioned the Xcelsius version you are using.
I presume that you need to install the latest fix pack. This fix pack 3.1 addressed this problem. I would suggest you to install all in a row (Hot Fix 3.4 is the latest one).

Automatic Refresh of Xcelsius dashboard with Live Office connection

Hi,
I have an Xcelsius dashbaord which has Live Office connectivity to universe query. Universe is build on a Bex query. Now, I need to auto refresh my dashboard say every 15 seconds.
Under 'Data > Connection' menu, I could find 'Refresh every' option for refreshing the dashboard at specified interval. However, it doesn't seem to work. Also, the user guide for Xcelsius 2008 SP3 indicates that this auto refresh is only for QaaWS, Web Services, and XML Data connections only.
Can someone let me know if this is still the case? Is it possible to have auto refresh for LO connection ? If not, what is the best alternative? I believe QaaWS would work.

Well its still possible to refresh LO connection every 15second. You can use play selector which counts 0-15. Then bind your LO connection refresh option to Play Selector's destination, make it When value becomes 15.

Web Services URL - Live office connection

Hi,
When I try to give the web service URL as
http://<Server>:<Port>/dswsbobje/services/Session
I get a error saying unable to connect to the server. Any thoughts?

Live Office Error when connecting to SAP BW data (Offline dashboard)

Hi experts,
we have built up an Live Office connection to SAP BW query data to create a dashboards, which can show the data also in offlne mode. We are using exactly the same procedure as recommanded by Ingo Hilgofort in [End-to-End Scenarios With Xcelsius 2008|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/90ad73b1-506c-2b10-9e9b-9fde523f010a].
When trying to refresh the Live Office connection using the "Refresh" button in the dashboard we receive the error LO 26301: The current refresh option requires a report instance that does not exist.
The recommended action is: Change the refresh option of the object or use the CMC to schedule a new instance.
But creating an instance of the dashboard is not possible. What is meant by that? Is it necessary that we embed the Xcelsius flash into a PDF or a Crystal Report? What are our alternatives?

Hi Gowda Timma Ramu,
i create an instance of report by USER1... and..... dashboard is pointed to latest instance.
when i refresh a dashboard (by clicking on refresh button) it requires login to infoview ... i login to infoview by USER 2 not by USER1.....
it showing an error

Note:-But data is changing in dashboard
any solution for solving this error.

Live Office or Qaas Connection perfomance

Actually we are just going to start to create dashboard.
So my question is whether we should use Live office connection or QAAS connection.
Perfomance wise which one is better.

If you want to combine advantages of easy connection design from QaaWS, with complex blocks & scheduling from LO, oyu may want to try BI Services (Web Intelligence report parts published as web services from WebI Rich Client since XI 3.1 SP2).
This also provides access to report filters and drills.
Benches have shown BI Services to be more efficient as compared with QaaWS, since they provide several setting parameters to tune consumption, leverage scheduling and avoid as much as possible DB round-trips (ie document refreshes) which you cannot really avoid with QaaWS.

Unable to add Live Office Data Connection

I Opened EXCEL -> Went to add-ins tab of the excel sheet -> added a new live office component (webI report) -> saved as LIVE OFFICE OBJECT ( .XLS).
Opened Data Manager in Xcelcius -> clicked on add -> Live Office Connections. There is no action happening!
Can anyone help me what would be the problem
Note: I am able to add other connections like qaaws

Live Office SP3.4/Office 2010 - Live Office objects disappear on conversion

I am testing Live Office XI 3.1 FP3.4 on a Windows 7 laptop with Office 2010 installed and have a question.
I take an Excel 2003 file (XLS) file that has Live Office connections and open it in Office 2010. Then I save as an XLSX file. While saving I get a message that states:
"The name, [1]_1_CRADDIN_DataGrid, either conflicts with a valid range reference of is invalid for Excel. The name has been replaced with 11__1_CRADDIN_DataGrid. You may still need to manually update any references to this name used in VBA code or as text arguements in functions. You must close and reopen the workbook before these changes take effect."
I complete the save then close and reopen the file. When I go check for my Live Office objects, they seem to have disappeared (meaning I right click on what used to be a Live Office object, but I no longer see Live Office on the popup menu).
Can't I convert my old data models to the new excel format? I am doing this because the XLF is taking a LONG time to open in Xcelsius 2008 SP4 with multiple server busy messages. I thought updating the Excel file might speed things up but since the Live Office objects are disappearing from my spreadsheet this is not working as expected.
If any pointers can be given that would be great. If I have missed any documenation that may help me out, please let me know. I checked the Live Office documentation and the highest thing for XI 3.1 I see is SP3, no FP3.4 (or even SP4).

How do I know if Office is 64 bit? If I go to the control panel, I see that "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010" is installed.
There are no named ranges in my sheet.

Xcelsius, Live Office, and Crystal Reports Migration Problem

Hi Experts,
I have a problem when migrating Xcelsius dashboards from dev environment to production environment. In my dev environment, I have Crystal Reports which are published from BW dev environment and Xcelsius dashboards consuming the data in these Crystal Reports.
When I try to migrate from dev environment to production environment, I first transport Crystal Reports from BW dev environment to BW production environment and publish them to BOE production environment from BW production environment. Then I use Import Wizard to migrate Xcelsius dashboards from BOE dev environment to BOE production environment. But this way, the live office connections inside the Xcelsius dashboards break because the underlying Crystal Reports cannot be found.
The other option I can think of is migrating Crystal Reports using Import Wizard rather than transporting them to BW production environment and publishing them to BOE production environment from there. After the migration using Import Wizard, modify the database connection of these reports in CMC. I usually do this for Crystal Reports connecting other data source than BW. I haven't tried this with BW reports yet, because I think publishing is the right way to do it.
I'm on BO Edge 3.0, Crystal Reports 2008 V0, and Xcelisus 2008 SP1. And I don't have much upgrade options. Currently, I can only upgrade to BO Edge 3.1 and I don't think that makes any difference.
So how do you migrating Xcelsius dashboards, connecting to BW Crystal Reports via Live Office connection?

Edge 3.1 has quite a few bug fixes over 3.0 and then I believe you would want CR2008 SP1. But without upgrading anything BO products usually link information via unique identifiers such as the SI_CUID, If you use the IW for everything this is sure to be preserved. If not then I do not know but a good possibility from your symptoms is the CR SI_CUID may have been changed by the way you migrated it. If you are unable to make progress you may consider opening an incident with the BO deployment team but if it's a bug you will need to upgrade to 3.1.

Problem with Live Office Web Services

Hi@all,
we have a problem with the Live Office connection options.
The Webservice URL entry has an error: "Verion conflict: Your Live office client needs a newer version of Business Objects Web Services".
I have installed the newest SP (SP3) for XI 3.1 for my Live Office Client and for the BO client tools but it do not work. Has anybody an idea?

Any solution for this? We have the same issue.
Got resolved by recreating the webi document from scratch and the live connections.
But this issue really scares me as I have did not see any reason for this to happen and it is very inconsistant.

In a nutshell, you can't unless your friend has a VPN server running at his house, or you can use a point to point tunnel like Pertino.
Otherwise, use Teamviewer.
