Live text rendering is slow

When I create a Live Text template and insert it into my Premier timeline the render time is very long.  For a :05 simple text reveal the render is over a few minutes.  If I don't use it as a template but just a dynamic link comp then the render is only 10-15 seconds.  I also find the render slows to a crawl at times but if I cycle to After Effects and back to Premier the render seems to get faster.  Not sure why.
To avoid the rendering I tried to create a Title graphic to speed the process but it appears a mask or graduated background can't be incorporated into a background graphic inserted in Title.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

I find if it isn't open then the links are often lost.  I always have to open the AE project prior to loading the Premiere project.

  • Live Text Template - Very slow to update

    Started using Live Text Templates which in theory seem really great but they are SOOOOO slow to update.
    So I create a simple 5 sec title with two text elements which simply fade in at the start and fade out at the end. The back ground is plain colored shape.
    I put this in to premiere, open it in the source panel and update my two text elements
    I put this title into an empty timeline - if I move the play head over the clips in the timeline it can take up to 60 seconds before the clip shows the correct text
    I then change the text in the master clip (title).
    Going back to the time line it takes about 1-2 minutes before I can view the changes in the timeline - either by just putting the playhead over the clip or actually playing the timeline. It will either show a black frame or the previous text.
    If the sequence contains other content then after changing text in the master clip the whole timeline will just show a black frame in the program panel for about 30-60 seconds then I can view this other content but have to wait a further 30-60 seconds before I see the updated title text.
    Its very slow and far from live. Anyone know if there is something I can change somewhere to speed this up? What is happening behind the scenes to allow Premiere to effectively render out this titles? If I actually render the title in the timeline it only take a few seconds so no reason it should take so long for Premiere to do it in the background.

    Good question that I ask myself also, but not just updating Titles. Same time lag for updating a Photoshop image that sits inside Premiere, or updating an After Effects composition inside Premiere.
    Sometimes I think I can 'trick it' into speeding up by 'saving' the Premiere project, but then most times I think I am tricking myself.

  • {text-rendering : optimizeLegibility} turns off google webfont in DW CS6 live preview (suddenly)

    I'm currently working on two websites for the UN, based on Wordpress, child themes based on twentytwelve and twentythirteen.
    I started to work a certain time ago on the child theme for 2012 which uses "Open Sans" fonts.
    I don't remember having any problem with this site: everything was working ok, I made a few changes but nothing important.
    I turned to the nd website based on 2013-theme, it works perfectly and DW CS6 is a real time saver for creating a child-theme, nonetheless...
    This morning I turned back to the 2012-based wordpress site: every text was simply not displayed anymore... only in live preview in DW...
    Even with the parent theme, the text was siply not displayed (so don't suggest my css code is bugged or what...)
    After a while, I figured out it was not really a problem regarding the font itself, but with the CSS property "text-rendering" with value set "optimizeLegibility".
    Commenting out this declaration solved the problem. Nonetheless...
    1 month ago there was no problem. Then suddenly...
    Is there a problem with the live preview mode and this CSS property? (indeed there is a problem)
    Can we have a fix for this? I mean, an update for DW CS6  (not for DW CC) ?
    TIA

    Hello Nancy!
    Normally, according to https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/text-rendering Gecko could take it in charge too, but seems to override this setting (a thing I can understand, Gecko is using a fast rendering engine). So you're right: at this time, it can impact only webkit/chromium engines. Which, as far as I know is the underlying engine(s) behind "Live Preview". And it does impact readibility in DW CC (it improves it).
    Personnally I'ls better stick to the real CSS properties for kerning, alternative uppercases and ligatures, BUT the wordpress team seemed to think it was a good idea to use it (along with many other strange ideas such as using rem unit for the layout).
    The real thing here is: some weeks ago, when I started to tune the 2012-based theme I use for this site, I'm pretty sure I was able to read the text in Live Preview in DW CS6. I wouldn't have chosen to use this theme with such an annoyance, else. So basically, it's really strange that suddenly this property has such an impact on the "live preview" mode of DW CS6. What I would really appreciate here is a small update/bugfix to DW CS6: I don't need this property to be taken in charge in DW CS6 as it is done in DW CC, I'ld just want this property not to impact the live preview.
    Last : I mentionned an update of DWCC being possibly a culprit for this. How relevant could be this statement ? Are "live preview" modes shared by DW CC and DW CS6 ? (Even if, of course, this "bug" is not happening with DWCC).
    PS: Thanks a lot Nancy to pay attention to my posts as I often yell a lot here.

  • Live text template render issue when using Media Encoder?

    I'm running into flash frames with Media Encoder exports of Premiere sequences using the live text templates.
    Unfortunately, AME doesn't flag it as an error, so the render completes without any issues in the render log and the only way to find it is to watch the rendered file.
    I have tried different combinations of having After Effects open or closed, with the live text template comp open or closed; I can't consistently reproduce the problem with any certainty and so am having trouble pinpointing the source.
    My only hypotheses so far are that:
    The glitches seem to be happening in the dynamic link between AME and PP, not AE and PP. The live text will pop back to the duplicated comp's text for one frame. Video playing simultaneously doesn't pop.
    In other words, the AE text template said: "name here". In PP it was edited to say "John Doe", then that comp was duplicated and edited to say "Bob Smith". Everything looks fine in PP. There are no keys on the source text in AE (I have noticed that if there are keys on the source text in AE, the text will pop back to the original AE text at that key in PP).
    When rendered out of AME, halfway through Bob Smith's title, it will read "John Doe" for a single frame, then pop back to being Bob.
    I've only had this happen so far with AME renders. The renders out of PP haven't given me any issues so far.
    It might happen more frequently on longer segments? If a title is up for 45 sec instead of 10 sec, it may be more likely to pop.
    The issue seems to occur more often in batch renders out of AME (happened to 3 of 5 files rendered in a batch, AME 2014.1) and/or with unrelated AE comps open (on a single render from AME 2014.2)
    Again, it doesn't happen every time or to the same title, or in the same spot. Files are being rendered to ProRes 422 HQ. Unchecked "Use Previews" in AME.
    Would be nice to get to the bottom of what's happening so I can recommend something to the editors when I hand off these live text templates to them.
    I realize that the live text is a new feature as of 2014.1, but haven't found anyone else talking about this. Would love if this was a very simple fix that I'm missing.
    I was able to reproduce the error on 2 different machines, with similar specs:

    Mac tower 2010

  • How can I make Premiere Pro handle Live Text Templates faster?

    Currently I have a an After Effects Project that is setup as a Text Template.  When I render out the "template" composition in AFX, it takes 8 seconds.  The same composition through Live Text in Premiere Pro takes 34 minutes.  This comp is 6 seconds, and I can't for the life of me explain, or fix, the time difference...  After Effects multi-frame processing is turned off, so that shouldn't be the issue... I'm at a lost... I don't mind rendering my titles out in After Effects, but it is much more convenient in Premiere Pro as the text fields are all in the same place.
    My computer is a custom Windows 8.1 Pro running Premiere Pro and After Effects CC 2014.1 with 64GB of RAM, a NVIDIA GeForce 680 2GB, and an Intel i7-3960X 3.30GHz processor.  I've noticed that when PPro is attempting to render, its task in the task manager never goes about 5% and the AfterFX one it creates never goes above 10% CPU usage.  The two applications also don't use much RAM, though I don't suppose they should need a lot seeing how it is a 6 second comp... But none the less, I've allocated 58GB to the Adobe Suite through the AFX preferences dialog.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    when I click the record button, the screen goes to a blue screen with Playing on video hardware
    This is normal for HDV.
    How do I also get the Scene Detect to work?

  • Text rendering on MacBook Pro differs from PowerBook.

    It appears that various applications use a different text rendering technique on the MacBook Pro than on the Powerbook. Camino for instance uses sub-pixel rendering on the PowerBook but standard anti-aliasing on the MacBook Pro. So do Word and MSN and others.
    At first I thought it had something to do with the app being universal or not. But Camino is supposed to be a universal binary.
    Anyone has a clue about why this difference?
    (You can easily see if sub-pixel or standard rendering is used by zooming in with option-cmd-8. Standard rendering has only shades of gray. Sub-pixel rendering uses colors. More on OS X text rendering can be found here: http://daringfireball.net/2003/11/panthertextrendering.)

    First, I wonder - does it look good or bad? Or, is this simply a comment that it is different?
    Second, and I'll bet this is your answer, is that the difference is most likely due to the type of video card being used. I notice that nothing effects rendering of fonts like the type of video card.
    I am interested because I will be doing lots of text work on my MBP, and would like to know if there is an issue with this. I had a notebook (Toshiba) about three years ago that the text was soft and nothing I could do would make it sharper. I ended up dumping the notebook and getting something else. MS Cleartype seems to work to some degree in Windows machines, but I don't see anything like that on my PB. However, the PB is fine as it...

  • Using live text in a lightbox trigger

    I am using live text in my lightbox trigger and in preview everything works great the first time around. However, after i've clicked on the lightbox trigger the first time, my text will no longer show up if I rollover the trigger again. I've tried the "hide all initially" option and that didn't work. Any suggestions??

    By "opening it in Acrobat" I mean opren the Adobe Acrobat application and then open the PDF file in it (File -> Open -> select your PDF)
    If you have the file open in Acrobat then follow the commands I offered in my first response to convert the PDF to a Word file.  YOu can then open the Word file in Word and do what you wish with the contents of it.

  • Is there a way to convert outlined text back into live text?

    I have an Illustrator CS3 doc in which all text has been converted to outlines. (I wish I had an intelligent answer to the question of why I don't have the original doc with live text, but...) I remember seeing a post some time ago that explained how to change the outlines back into live text, which may have involved making a pdf or something, but I can't find that post anywhere in the Adobe forums. Does anyone know how to do this, if it can even be done? Thanks!

    I had to test it. Yes, you can use Acrobat Pro to OCR the text. First you'll need to rasterize the outlined text in AI (at 300dpi bitmap) and save as PDF. Then open in Acrobat and go to "Documents>OCR Text Recognition" to convert the image to text. Click "Edit" in the "Recognize Text dialog window and select "Formatted Text & Graphics" to view only the text in Acrobat. Save and re-open in AI. The text will be editable, but broken into individual words. You can cut multiple words to the clipboard then click with the text tool and paste, to merge the text into a contiguous sentence, but you'll lose the spaces. Exporting as text from Acrobat may be a better route.

  • Font or text rendering problem :(

    Hello!
    I have a problem in Numbers with text rendering or something like that.
    Some characters have wrong representation right in cells. And when I export document to PDF all characters which cross the cell border have white lines.
    I already tried to rebuild font cache without luck.
    Can anyone help to figure this out?
    Thank you!
    P.S.
    Numbers 2.1, Mac OS X 10.7.2, here is a snapshot:

    You already know that but it may be interesting for others.
    (1) the OP's document behave the odd way on my machine.
    (2) When I insert similar characters in a complementary table in the original document, it behave flawlessly.
    Now are new informations.
    (3) I copied the content of your tables and pasted values in tables of a blank new document.
    With the font set to Helvetica everything was OK.
    I tried several fonts.
    Avant Garde --> OK
    Baskerville --> OK
    Calibri --> OK
    Arno Pro --> OK
    Cochin --> OK
    Garamond Premier Pro --> OK
    Minion Pro --> OK
    Warnock Pro --> OK
    Arial --> Odd behavior
    This odd behavior doesn't strike in TextEdit or Pages.
    So there is clearly a problem between Numbers and Arial

  • Dynamic text rendering in Cp4

    I'm having an issue with an embedded AS2 SWF that spawns a MovieClip containing a dynamic text field populated with ActionScript. When I publish/preview the Captivate movie with externalized animations, the dynamic text renders fine. However, when I do NOT externalize animations, the dynamic text appears garbled.
    I'd go ahead and externalize animations in this project, but there are other embedded SWFs in the project that work correctly only when they are not externalized.
    Anyone have experience with this or a similar issue?

    I just had a similar problem and fixed it by embedding the font into the Flash SWF and also embedding uppercase and lower case characters.
    Not sure why this was needed since I never had to do that with Captivate 3, but that was the only thing that corrected the problem.

  • SSRS Subreport - Renders very slow

    Hi All,
    I have a subreport which is embedded in the main report (form report) which is inturn embedded in a list. The report is executed for different levels with each level having different number of records (say 100, 150, etc.) and gives us a form for each
    of the records on a single page. That is the report will have 150 pages for 150 records. My subreport renders very fast when it is run stand alone. Even the SPs written for the subreport are giving results within seconds. But when embedded in the main
    report, the whole report is rendering very slow.
    I tried passing the parameters to the subreport in two different ways:
    1. Assigned the main dataset's record id to the subreport which gives correct data but taking very long time to generate the report.
    2. Assigned the main dataset's record id to a hidden parameter and passing that parameter to the subreport as a parameter. This way the report renders very fast but the subreport is always giving the results for the first record id. That is even for the
    second record, the subreport is showing up the first record's details which is incorrect.
    Have been struggling with this issue for a while. Request you to help me in this regard.
    Regards,
    Bala.

    Hi Bala,
    According to your description, it seems that the issue is caused by the parameters. Please check the parameters setting of each subreport control in the main report. Make sure the data types are the same between the parameters, and the values passed to the
    subreport parameters are correct.
    As to the report performance, we can refer to the ExecutionLog View to monitor it. The total time to generate a reporting server report (RDL) can be divided into 3 elements:
    Total time = (TimeDataRetrieval) + (TimeProcessing) + (TimeRendering)
    For more details about troubleshooting report performance, please refer to the following documents:

    Firefox 3 supported the text-rendering property.
    Does ff8 also support the above property?
    From what i have come to understand it does not that is why i am asking, to be certain.
    Besides it does not make sense an older version supporting it and and a newer one not.

    So, as i understand, firefox 8 '''does not''' support it.

    yes it still is faster than anything else I have used but was wondering why it does not go any higher. Ive seen it spke everyonce in a while to 1200-1400%

    Tim, I have no answer to your question. I have 6 cores and actually not measured the CPU usage. But here is an article that could be of interest. Your question is valid, you name rendering is slow, but that has very little to do with CPU, it is the GPU that counts.

  • Difference in text rendering between PDF and Mars?

    I was doing some testing with Mars and stumbled upon what
    seemed like suboptimal text rendering. Because it was quite subtle
    and I wanted to make sure there was an actual difference, I did a
    little comparison between PDF and Mars rendering.
    See this image. Can
    you see a difference?
    I'm still not sure whether there is an actual difference, but
    I still somehow got the impression that the upper example (PDF) is
    a little more polished then the lower one (Mars). Are different
    rendering paths actually used? Will it remain that way?
    My SVG for Mars was very simple:
    <text font-size="10pt" x="20" y="20" fill="rgb(0,0,0)"
    font-family="F0">aex</text>
    The PDF was produced with MS Office 2007 and Microsofts Save
    as PDF plugin (also at 10pts). The font is Gentium.

    The difference *IS* subtle, but you're right -- there does
    appear to be a perceptible difference between the two samples.
    Without making an in-depth study, it's hard to say whether we
    can do anything about this. Even though they're both opened in
    Acrobat, the rendering path for a Mars document is *VERY* different
    from the path for a PDF document, and many of the events along the
    chain are out of the control of those of us writing the Mars
    plugin. There are some text-quality issues that I'd like to take
    care of in time for our next release, however; perhaps I'll be able
    to address this particular issue at the same time.
