Live Update 5 Problems

Hello folks,
First, I have no idea whether I should post here or in the NVidia forum.
I have a 790FX-GD70 motherboard with the 6 Core AMD processor, plus 16GB memory.
Most everything is working perfectly except for putting to sleep (pw stays on - but I'll post a separate msg about this) and Live Update 5.0.077 doesn't seem to work properly.
Despite downloading and updating the MB drivers (through Live Update 5), they still show up as:
* AMD Chipset drivers - current version: 8.17.12.8562. new version: 8.881.0.0
* JMicron JMB36X Driver - not installed
(there is a new program files folder with an application called JMB36X RAID Configurer
* Realtek HD Audio drivers - not installed (the Realtek HD Audio Manager *is* installed with audio driver version 6.0.1.6487)
It appears as though the AMD Chipset drivers didn't install (what am I looking for to confirm this?) and the later two drivers *did* in fact, install.
Can anyone explain why Live Update is not showing the correct installed drivers and/or will not install the AMD chipset drivers.

Uninstall LiveUpdate 5 and forget about it. You can always download drivers from your boards download page:

Your board uses an AMD chipset, so you've posted in the correct place.

  • Live update problem

    Hi,
First of all, see below my video card information (from Afterburner)
Display device       : MSI N560GTX Ti Twin Frozr II on GF114 GPU
    Display driver       : ForceWare 285.62
    BIOS                 : 70.24.11.00.00
    GUID                 : VEN_10DE&DEV_1200&SUBSYS_23821462&REV_A1&BUS_2&DEV_0&FN_0
Sometimes , Battlefield 3 crashes and I return to desktop.
I've read that a bios update can be a solution.
So, I've downloaded Live Update 5 and installed it. No problem.
But when I launch it, it happens nothing. The process LU5.exe starts for a few seconds and stopped without any messages.
So, is it necessary to update my video bios and how can I start Live Update ?
    Thanks,
    Bruno
PS : sorry for my english from France

If you read thru posts concerning Vbios upgrade you will realize that using Live Update isn't the most safe way of updating bios. Said that I also found out that something is wrong with the latest build of Live Update 5. You can install it but when you try to launch it nothing will happen.
Live Update 5 version 5.0.060 works fine and says my bios is the same as yours, and that there is no need to update.
I believe BF3 is just a buggy game that needs to be patched

  • Z77 GD55 live update problem

Hello, I recently bought a z77 GD55 mainboard, the problem is when accessing live update or browser from the bios it never works.
First it asks me for a boot drive, I select the hard drive I am using( Windows is on it), and it simply goes to a black screen
I have read the Manuel and all it says to do is install winki which I have done, please help!

Did your mainboard come with the supplemental Software Application User guide? It covers Winki 'how to' fairly well as I recall. Personally, I would recommend to stay away from using any Live Update functions and do all updates and such manually.

  • MSI Live Update problem....

So i downloaded/installed the Live Update v3.61 and decided to try it out.  I changed the default option to  only show new versions of files.  It keeps telling me i've only got v4.08 of the Nvidia nForce3 System Drivers, when i've downloaded v5.03 from the website and installed them (twice now actually).  what's the deal?   anyone else have a similar issue?  I've tried getting it with live update, but it crawls along at 2-3KB/sec, so screw that.
Just noticed as well that the "Live Update" button changes fron green to yellow when i try to update...
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!

WOW, this amazes me. This was the first time I have ever built a computer, so i tried to find a board with the performance I wanted and features such as LiveUpdate to make it easy to maintanence.
Anyways, Everything other than the temp readings in corecell went very smoothly from day 1. I have flashed my system bios twice with Live update and that fixed my temps, the driver, the nvidia driver, and a utility, and never have I had a bad experience with speed or bad flashing. I have never flashed bios with a boot disc and will continue to use the LiveUpdate feature. Im sorry that you guys are having troubles with it, because I think its the best thing around. And Im seriously shocked to have read this. I thought it worked for everyone.
If other people have good experiences with it, let me know, I cant be the only one.
I seriously think LiveUpdate is one of the best features of the board.

  • Live Update Problem K7N2-Delta-L

Every time I try to use Live Update 2 to download the latest nForce drivers from MSI, the download stops about 1/3 through.
    Win XP
    Cable Modem
    Live Update 2
Live Update worked for a Bios Update, but drivers, no way.
    Thanks,
    Bill

Is there any way to get around installing all the drivers?
I use the latest Detonator drivers, and the nForce set has an old display driver.

  • Live update problems Z77

Hey all i need some help.
When i want to download and install MB drivers it starts to download and then its says
Processing, please wait for a while.
The problem is nothing seems to happend... I have been waiting for 1,5h now..
Anyone know what the problem is?
    / Megagreenskin

That would only be for the intel onboard vga.
You would want to get the most recent drivers from either XFX or AMD for your card.
    >>AMD Drivers<<
Really, unless you are using multi monitor or gpu virtualization you won't need to install the intel driver anyway as the IGD will be disabled.

  • Live update going on 2 weeks ....

and it still does not connect to server....
no matter what version I have tried (new- and ver. that cam with board).
I simply cannot believe it takes this long for a so called 1st tier mobo company to "get the server links working again." after a website update.....
I am going to give them a few more days then report this to the BBB and our Attorney's Generals office as false advertisment.  I didn't buy this board to manually do anything!! I bought it to fuction as advertised!!! WITH ADVERTISED FEATURES

    so last comment be patient
since there was n warning of the live update problem and some members had reinstalled there windows XP etc mmmmmmm
Error Live Update Vs 3.53 vbscript loading database file error HELP NEEDED
the error I am getting when running Live Update 3.53 is the below
vbscript loading database file error please connect to internet first
I have just done a fresh (clean) install of Windows XP Pro,with SR-1 and all current updates
I then Installed Live Update and now still getting the error
the comment below is from DANNY (thanks)
The mess created when the MSI web team updated the server still has a lot of broken links. The servers are running all that well either. The links on the motherboard pages seem OK, so you might try the hard way.

  • Live Update 3 cannot connect to servers!!!

Does ANYONE know WHEN MSI will get this fixed? Maybe the problem I'm having with my desktop icons is that the Video BIOS needs to be updated.

You can try putting the iPhone into DFU mode and see if that will let you restore and remove the jailbreak:
    http://osxdaily.com/2010/06/24/iphone-dfu-mode-explained-and-how-to-enter-dfu-mo de-on-your-iphone/
Some jailbreaks cannot be removed and in some cases will permanently disable your iPhone. If that happens to you, then you will have to buy a new iPhone; Apple will provide no support, warranty or out-of-warranty, for a jailbroken iPhone.
You're on your own from here. We can provide no further help with a jailbroken iPhone in these forums.
    Good luck.

  • Problems with Live Update 3 and Core Center

    Hi All
I have just put together the system listed below. On the first boot-up screen "Live Update 2" is displayed on the top right of screen. I installed "Live Update 3"  from the Drivers & Utilities  CD supplied with the Mobo. On rebooting, the computer crashes straight after loading Windows. The problem occurs even after I downloaded the latest version.
I also installed Core Center from the same CD. This works fine until I try to switch user. It then comes up with the error "No Hardware Monitor Found" and crashes. The same thing happens after downloading the latest version.
    What could be causing this?
    Many thanks.

Upgrade BIOS and see what happens...

  • Problems with Live Update 2

Whenever the system starts up, I get several errors stating, "the service was not started".
Unfortunately, it doesn't state what service (although it's obviously related to Live Update because the bl**dy thing won't work) & it's not immediately evident (to me, at least) which of the plethora of un-started services I need to start to correct it.
Anyone else had this & know how to correct it?

Alright, this is really getting on my t*ts!
I haven;t changed anything &, following a re-boot, I'm now getting the "service was not started" error again once I log into Windows.
When I try to run Live Update, it gives me the same error but does actually produce the IE window, although the options for Live BIOS & Live Driver are missing (the others are still there but don't work).
I've even started EVERY service in Control Panel & I still get the same, so I'm assuming it's not so much a "service is not started", but more like a "service does not exist".  If this is the case, what is the service & how do I get it back?  Why doesn't re-installing Live Update solve the problem?

  • Problems with Cool N Quiet and MSI Live Update

    Hi
I have had my K8T NEO FISR2 motherboard for a year and  generally I have been very happy with it. However, I have just installed Full Spectrum Warrior (about 3 weeks ago ) and Nortons Internet Suite 2005 and both installations resulted in the same error message when I boot up.
The error message is that MSI Live Update isn't started up, and also that Cool N quite is not supported on my motherboard which is obviously rubbish.
I have done a complete re-install of the Live Update and Cool N quite and that fixes it, and then it seems to come back a day later.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Thankyou for your help

I stopped using the MSI software completely.  Also got lots of troubles with it.  MSi Live Update for example stops the audio drivers working while checking their revision and so on, so my advice is to use it only if needed once in a while and not loading it together with Windows.

  • Problems when scrubbing through timeline with live update on

Hey guys! I have a problem. Sometimes when I scrub through my timeline in AE with live update on and I try to get to a frame that hasn't been rendered yet, AE freaks out. On my windows taskbar, multiple instances of AE seem to populate the taskbar (although none of them are selectable) and the screen flashes in between my desktop BG and AE. Any thoughts? thanks!

Check the Event Viewer for the exact cause of the crashes. sounds like the same old driver crashes, which could be your graphics card or another component on your system like audio devices. Also verify your device manager for any devices that may be flagged and repair their drivers. This can go down to trivial things like your SATA controlelr driver or the temperature monitoring of the chip sending wrong signals when it supposedly gets too hot...

  • Is Live Update helpful yet, or still more problems than fixes?

    Hi
my 180 has been running decently for a while now.  The only thing that still makes me want to hang myself is this asinine problem with the sound card occasionally disappearing, requiring an unplugged reboot.
I shut off live update a while back because it seemed to create more problems than it fixed. can anyone confirm whether there is anything in there that addresses the sound card issue?
Also, there appears to be a new BIOS featuring an option to "Enable USB Keyboard Latency".  I am currently using a wireless USB keyboard and mouse with no problems.  Do I care about the new BIOS?
Here's my current version info (mine on the left, MSI's on the right)
    BIOS-   3.3      3.5
    Live VGA Driver-   4467      6681
all other are up to date with live update.  I have been very gun shy about letting it update these, since it seemed to cause so much trouble over the summer.  Can anyojne shed some light on whether these updates are necessary?
    tia!

okay, i guess it is a deluxe model. i initially thought the deluxes were the ones that could run dvds in hifi mode.
anywho, it finally lost the sound card again.  it was an interesting feeling being excited about it for once, because i could continue this thread.
the speaker icon in the taskbar disappeared, and the nvidia drivers vanished from "sound, video, and game controllers"  device manager (both nforce codec and nforce processor). msi live update doesn't find anything new, but just for giggles i clicked "update driver" from the properties tab on both, and windows was able to find new drivers.
at this point, i assume that noone has found a solution, so I'll keep updating this thread for those who are fellow sufferers.
Another thought on the heat issue, the outside temps hit 66 degrees fahrenheit today (who said january?), so i wonder if that raised the temp in the cabinet just enough?

  • Still the same problem with Live update 2

I still have the same problem with Live update 2.
I've downloaded newer Bios update but it's 13 MB... it's obvious that I can not have
in floppy disk and I'm a little bit  uncomfortable of updating bios from CD-rom .
But what else can I do, besides updating Bios to get out of this Live update from start-up.
    Should I clear CMOS?

13mb are you really sure ?
    go here instead.
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=436&kind=1
the download file is around 300kb.
make sure you get the right file.
you did not specify if you got L or ILRS.
    also dont use live update.
    get drivers from http://www.nvidia.com instead.

  • K7N2G-ILSR Live update 3 PROBLEMS

Trying to download the following 2 updates using Live Update 3 and can't get it done.  It will download about half of the files then just stop, seems to me that the MSI's servers are timing out.  Sometimes I can download more of the update package than other times but never the complete deal.  The download seems to stop at around 3.5MB of 6.53MB for the nForce System Drivers Update ver 3.75.  I looked to download the following 2 updates manually on MSI's website but can't find these 2 updates.  Where can I get these updates?   Does MSI have an FTP site where I can grab these files??  I have 1.5Mbps cable connection and don't have problems downloading from any other places.  Thanks for the help!
