  • MSI Board K9VGM-V (MS-7253): Using MSI Live Update

Available for download is MSI's Live Update. Considering using this to update my BIOS. I am aware about the dangers of flashing. I am trying to be as safe as possible about my upcoming attempt. But look at what it says about my particular board under the "Notes" section of the Live Update download.
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=utility&maincat_no=1&prod_no=260
It says and I quote "For K9VGM-V (MS-7253) mainboard, please do not select the DMI optopn." (I am sure that last word is supposed to be option).
DMI? What is DMI? I assume it is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desktop_Management_Interface
    So my question is...
What does that mean? What am I supposed to do? Is this DMI some option in the program that I am not to select? Or is this whole Live Update process fall under DMI and people with my board can't use it whatsoever? Am I screwed or what should I do? I am trying to be very careful here.

If that is true, you should under absolutely no circumstances use MSI LIve Update to update your BIOS.  There are quite a few threads here in the forum that were opened by users that rendered there K9VGM-V Boards useless because of using such a risky Windows based update application.  So please, in your own best interest, forget about MSI Live Update, de-install it completely and stay away from it.
If you really think, that you need to update your BIOS, please be sure that this is really necessery.  Flashing a BIOS for no specific reason is not really recommended.  Never change a running system!
Please be sure about your current BIOS Version before thinking about a BIOS Update.  Maybe your current version is more recent then you think or even the latest one already.
In case a BIOS Update is really necessary, please >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< for minimum flash risk and easy handling.

  • To All IPod Users having Trouble with Live Updating playlists.

I thought I should share this with other IPod users as there is quite a bit of discussion on the net about it.
After 3 days trying to get "Smart Playlists"to live update on my IPod touch, reading, researching and reading more, I finally got my Ipod playlist to live update.
I've discovered that certain rules break live updating.
OK it is only a basic set of rules, but it is working.
The 1st thing I did was group all my songs using the "Composer" field. Do not use sorting, it breaks live updating.
example: All songs were composed by Music, all Soundtracks were composed by Soundtrack. And so on. I did this in ITunes using "Get Info".
I placed two rules in my playlist:
    Composer is Music
Last Played is not in the last 6 months.
    I ticked "Live Update"
Do not use Limit to as this breaks Live Updating as well.
If your list is in a different order on your IPod then in ITunes just select any other column in ITunes other than the numbered column, e.g. Name. Your list should match now in both ITunes and your IPod.
Just use shuffle within the playlist to mix things up.
Once played your track should drop off your playlist.
    Hope this helps.

I live by my Smart playlist to sort out all my TV shows and Video Podcast but it suddenly stopped updating after I paid $25 for the iTunes Match service.
It stopped in iTunes. I don't worry to much about my iPhones because I plug them in every day and it will update iTunes.
If iTunes doesn't work the apple TV, iPads and iPhones don't work.
Do I need to cancel the iTunes Match service?
    Please someone find a fix.

  • HELP: Failure flashing BIOS using Live Update 5

    Hi,
I used Live Update 5 to download the latest BIOS version for my MB. Then when I was running the update, I chose "". (I know it's incorrect and I should have chosen the other one.) After the update, the machine restarted and showed a cursor blinking on the top left on a black screen, and it wouldn't proceed any more. I can enter the BIOS without a problem. I can also boot from CD or USB, but the windows on my machine simply wouldn't boot.
After the problem arose, I have tried flashing the BIOS with the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing tool on this forum. It tells me that  but the same problem remains.
    What should I do now?
Thanks for your time and consideration!

After any flash, the battery should be removed for awhile and the CMOS cleared. Reset all your BIOS menu settings again making sure the boot order etc. is correct and the proper mode is selected that your OS was installed under, i.e. IDE or AHCI mode.

  • Live Updates using JSP

    Hi all,
I am developing a jsp page that gives live updates(such as current news) to the client. I want to implement it in such a way that the user should get the news updates without refreshing his web page.
Can anyone tell how to implement this with AJAX? Or is there any other technology that I can use?

I think AJAX is the only way to accomplish this right now, but I don't know how sorry. You can check with an Ajax forum.
It might be also possible with Open Laszlo , or Adobe Flex but I can't say for sure.

  • MSI KT8 Neo2 F board, upgraded cpu and used MSIs Live Update, now unstable BSODs

I've had this mobo for almost 2 yrs now with an AMD 3500+ cpu and recently upgraded that to the FX-55. To do that, it required using MSIs Live Update and needed newer chipset drivers. It has the latest bios according to Live Update.
It took a few attempts but finally booted w/o BSODs and has been running for over 1 week BUT is still not right. It's sometimes unstable and will crash (BSOD) just by starting up a browser. I had the bios settings at "optimized" and have tryed a few other changes but so far, I'm not gaining. Last night I couldn't keep it running more than a few minutes w/o it crashing.
I have the MSI manual for my board and plan to spend some more time playing with it tonight but might anyone here have any ideas? It's not running hot (reads 50C) and was stable before with the 3500+. I've tryed "Fail Safe" bios settings too but nothing's better that way either.
I'm hoping that someone here has a few ideas?
    Perhaps related?
After initially running this with the new cpu, I'd see the "searching for MAC address" message and it'd hang there on boot. Someone told me that was because it was trying to do a network boot, selected in the boot sequence SO I've unselected that and that's when things got worse (oddly as it shouldn't IMO). One can select the 3+ boot devices (floppy, USB, CD-DVD rom, HDD) and it use to see the HDDs (2) before but now I'm not (only floppy and CD-DVD rom) and if I unselect the ethernet option (boot other devices), it fails to boot at all and says "insert floppy" as if I was installing Win98 way back when (running XP Pro btw). Something's definately not right with my bios selections.

Let's go back to basics here for a bit. Start by posting your complete specs in your signature like we do. Make sure that your PSU values are also in there.
Let's also look at some tests to help determine where the issue is. I would recommend Memtest86+, OCCT, Prime95, and 3DMarks as a great first series. Also get CPUz and lets see what it shows for CPU and Memory.
If we can get an idea where things begin to fall apart then maybe we can determine if this is driver, hardware or some other issue without having to make the flash happen first. The reason why I am avoiding the flash at this point is that if things are mostly working maybe there is some other cause than Bios. We know that some FX's work with 3.x and some that don't. So I would like to try a bit of checking before we dive into a flash that could cause more issues than it solves if we get this wrong. As things are mostly working now we can assume at least for the moment that maybe the flash is not needed. If we don't see anything during testing that sheds some light then maybe we go ahead with the flash.
That is if your willing to take some time to try and sort this out and maybe learn some stuff in the process. It is of course your call and we will respect whichever decission you make here.

  • Can't Use MSI Live Update?

    Hi All,
I have the MSI GTX 970 Gaming Golden edition and I've been wanting to check for a BIOS update, however, the Live Update application says "this platform is not supported." I'm using Windows 8.1 64 Bit Pro and I have .NET Framework 4.5.2 installed, which replaces 4.0 for Windows 8 (I also ran a repair install).
    Videocard Serial #: 602-V316-15SB1411029XXX
I have attached two screenshots: One of the error message I receive and one of the GPU-Z readout for my card.
Anything I can do to get the update application working?
    Thanks for your time.

All the links I can find point here:
    http://download.msi.com/uti_exe/LiveUpdate.zip
The archive contains a folder named "6.0.016", directory listing:
    Live Update 6.exe
    ReleaseNote.txt
The top entry in ReleaseNote.txt states:
    =============================================================================================================================
       Version: 6.0.016   Build Date: 2015.04.21
            Description:
          1. Added installer check function, no longer support AIO/NB platform.
          2. Modify total installer update MB BIOS process.
    ========================================================================================================================
Here are the steps I am using to install the utility:
    1. Unzip the archive
    2. Double-click "Live Update 6.exe"
    3. At the "Select Setup Language" screen, keep English (default) and press "OK"
    4. Error is shown:
"This application does not support this platform."
    5. Click "OK" which quits the installer
I'm running Windows 8.1 with all updates applied from MS Update.
Also .net 4 is already installed.
I tried a lot of different compatibility setups, and nothing works.
    Any ideas?
    Greg
It's exactly the same for me.
I'm Using an Asus sabertooth and an AMD FX8350 if that is of any relevance

  • [Solved] GT70 Registers as GE70 / Used live update 5

    Hello everyone!
So I have a GT70 notebook, and when I register it on the MSI website, the product name says: GE70 0ND.
    The serial number says GT70-0NDXXXXX....
So my question is: is my GT70 a hidden GE70? Does it matter? Are they the same and do they have the same drivers?
Also, I have another question: I used Live Update 5 a while ago, but now I saw the disclaimer, saying that it's not for notebooks...:( What do I do? How do I get rid of the drivers? Also, is there something like Live Update for notebooks aswell?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi 14Died14,
For the registration problem, think it's better to contact MSI and ask them to check of your registration.
        http://register.msi.com/
As you known Live Update 5 is not for notebook and the fastest way to uninstall all the drivers you installed by using live update is to do system reset and re-install all the drives. Sadly you'll have to download all the drivers and update them one by one. I'll strongly recommend you to re-install the drivers since there might be some unknown issues pops up if you're using the drivers from live update.
Which OS are you currently using?

  • Z87-G41 PC Mate used Live Update 5 to update BIOS now no POST

I downloaded MSI's Live Update 5 and stupidly had it update everything. I was away from my desk while it ran and I heard the sound making crazy noises and the screen was dark so I manually powered down. Now when I boot up it won't post and I get nothing on the screen. I've tried to reset CMOS and I've stripped it down to just cpu and 1 stick of ram. Still no joy.

sounds like the BIOS on the board is Bricked!
one thing you could try is to put a USB stick in a black port while when you power it on and see if its attempting to access it! (If it is its not fully bricked and you need to make a USB flash drive with the BIOS file (ROM) on it and it will attempt a recovery)
if its doesn't work then you have 2 options!
1: RMA the board to MSI to be flashed back into working order
2: Find a shop near you that does SPI flash updates and have them Directly flash the BIOS chip!
So when I put a thumb drive in the back with the ROM, I can't really tell if it's trying to access it or not (no activity lights). What happens when I turn on the comp is that it will power on (no beeps) and after about 8 seconds it will power off, then restart. I generally turn it off at that point. I'll try putting the USB stick in and letting it run. It sucks because I get no video (tried onboard and GPU) so I can't really tell what's going on. Thanks for the info. I've already emailed MSI support to get a head start but I'm hoping I won't need to wait on them. I need my computer up and running for my side business.

  • Updated bios via Live Update and now my Network card isn't detected

I have an msi Z87-GD65 Gaming Motherboard and I updated some drivers and the bios via msi Live Update 6 last night and now my computer refuses to recognize my network adapter. The adapter is a TRENDnet N600, plugs into PCIe if I'm not mistaken. Wifi if my only option with this computer, I can't use ethernet, so it's really important I get the network card working again. I have had zero issues with it until this.
The reason I was updating was to try to get my third monitor to work when plugged into the mobo, while my other two were plugged into the graphics card (which I also installed yesterday, but it's working fine). Note that it still was not working, but I had enabled the IGD Multi-Monitor from bios.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I did try uninstalling the drivers but it still won't detect the network card. I also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the network card (and I cleaned the port for good measure).
I've only been using Windows computers for a year, so bear with me if there's stuff I don't know. Thanks in advance. I can try to get a full list of what was installed later tonight, but all of it that I can find has been uninstalled at this point.
Note: I did not flash the bios when I installed, which I have now heard is a bad idea, apparently. l:
