Live Update Killed Features...Again GT70 ONC

Ran Live Update 5 and stupidly allowed it to update drivers. Now I'm getting no response from KLM (keyboard is dark and utility will not run), S-Bar crashes on start up/launch, and MSI Suite "only supports MSI MotherBoard".
Unlike last time when I could go to the product webpage and restore these services, I get errors on install or they remain unresponsive.

Don't use live update.
I suppose you are using Win7 if you have S-Bar then install latest .Net Frameworks and then latest S-Bar.
If you have Windows8 you need SCM instead.
For Win7 you need this KLM version, for Win8 this KLM version
Best to uninstall the current first and then install the linked. Forget about MSI Suite.

  • Live update killing filestore

    hi all,
seems like the scheduled live update task completely removes the filestore share on every run on our server (at least file access auditing revealed that the share (which lives on the same machine as task and collection server) got deleted by the service account some 90 seconds after the LU started) any ideas how that can happen or how to avoid this?
Environment is win2ksp4 server, zam 7.50.0012 IR1 (enterprise install, all components on the same machine), mssql2000sp4.
    thanks, Lothar

  • MOVED: MSI LIVE UPDATE Kill my BIOS

This topic has been moved to BIOS.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=106801.0

...the VGA BIOS update is for MSI branded cards only...
...my only guess would be to go to Sapphire and see if they have a BIOS flash for your card...

  • Msi live update 3

please can anyone help me. i have the megabook l610i and have had it about a year now.i heard that it has a live update 3 feature on it so i can upgrade my drivers etc.but i dont know how to go about doing this.can anyone help me please ....thanks

you need to install the LiveUpdate program from the driver CD supplied with your MegaBook. if you don't have the CD anymore () you can download it using the Download link right at the top of this page
to be honest, if everything is working great, then don't worry about updating anything

  • How to turn on / off live updating for all smart playlists at once?

Hello.  Is there a way to turn live updating on or off for all my smart playlists at once?  That would be a fantastic feature since too many smart playlists with live updating turned on brings iTunes to a crawl.
Currently, I run iTunes on Windows 7.  I have over 40,000 songs, and I have hundreds of smart playlists to help organize all my songs and what's on my various iPods at any time.  The problem with having so many smart playlists is that iTunes runs very slow.  One thing that I do to make iTunes run slightly faster is to turn off live updating for as many smart playlists as I can stand (by going into each one and editing), but then it's hard to tell which have live updating turned on and which don't.  As a result, many of my smart playlists don't get updated when I would like them to because I have to go in and manually edit each one again to turn it back on.  Maybe showing which have live updating turned on or off would be useful, too?
On a related note, my iPod Classic will actually not work when I sync too many smart playlists.  This has been a long-standing problem with iPods, and I'm surprised that it hasn't been fixed yet.  I have not experimented to see if it makes any difference if the smart playlists have live updating turned on or off.
    Thanks.

this is exactly what i was hoping to see -- but i can't get it to run right on iTunes 12, yosemite
it also doesn't seem to recognize "Home Videos" or "Audiobooks" as special and tries to turn them off -- i modified the earlier script to add those two to the lists of exclusions, but still get the same error message on the first "unspecial/real" smart playlist -- hasn't somethign changed in the object model perhaps?
    thank you muchly!

  • After 3 years, tried live updating of smart playlist again. Still broken.

I mean that lists like "Music I haven't listend to recently" do not remove songs on the fly when I listen songs. Last time some special rules were a problem, like "album rating", or "skipped" or "is/not podcast". It worked if I avoided those rules. I did not research the details this time. Although all my rules are really old, so they should have been fixed by now. (Old, but a complex set of ten smart playlists, all live updating and the "main" list built from the others.)
Here is my speculation from 2009:
Generally any RECENT iTunes smart playlist RULE TYPES that Apple has introduced in iTunes, but failed to update to iOS Music Player seem to be the problem. The iOS device can not understand a new iTunes rule unless somebody hard codes it to a new iOS version which is then updated to your iPod. And the live update is disabled, if iOS does not recognize a rule that iTunes has.
Why, oh, why don't they just define a  scripting language to implement the smart lists, with primitives that can read any meta-data fields on a media file, and compare strings, numbers and dates? Then a new rule type would just mean a different script synced to iPhone, not re-programming the Music Player?
    Or what gives, tell me?

FYI, I've found that Live Updating can SORT OF work. It seems if you only have two rules, live upating works (IE, I have one that is a Rating must be 3-5*'s and last played cannot be within the last 8 weeks). Once the song is played it disapears off the playlist. BUT, as soon as I try to add a third rule, it doesn't work anymore! This is unfortunate because two rules really limits the ability of the playlist...
    Cheers,

  • Live Updating mangles smart playlist sync - again and forever?

For the last several itunes updates, setting a smart playlist to Live Update causes the order of playlist items to become mangled on synced deviceL
Unchecking the Live Updating restores the proper order to the items on the synced device.
Its a huge pain if you desire to set up podcast play order on your iphone so you don't have to play DJ in your car.
It was a problem a long time ago, and there was a kludgy workaround. Then they fixed it. And 2 versions of iTunes later it came back, and the workaround didn't work that time. It now appears to be a permanent bug, and apparently nobody cares at Apple.
Here's a wonderful example of how longstanding this bug is:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11396625#11396625
This one is even more pathetic, going back to 2009:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/10168181#10168181
There are many, many, other threads complaining about this issue so I've lost faith that Apple will care or try to fix it.
There has always been the occasional bug or error with Apple hardware/software; nobody's perfect - but they used to make an effort to fix things in a timely manner. At least they used to think the perception of attention to detail was important for marketing purposes.
Now, they are apparently content to Pareto Principle their products becuase they have the mass sales and a giant customer base that will accept 'just good enough' products.
So sad to see the decline of such a once great company.

After that i tried to update them to the newest version, and that didn't help either.
Is this a know issue, or am i just unlucky? Can it maby be solved with installing Win8, as im doing that in a few days from now?

Make sure you have installed also NET Framework before you use KLM and S-Bar and I really don't recommend to use Live Update, if you want to update your drivers to the latest just go to the manufacurer's website in download section. Don't forget to choose your version of windows before downloading!

  • [Solved] GT70 Registers as GE70 / Used live update 5

    Hello everyone!
So I have a GT70 notebook, and when I register it on the MSI website, the product name says: GE70 0ND.
    The serial number says GT70-0NDXXXXX....
So my question is: is my GT70 a hidden GE70? Does it matter? Are they the same and do they have the same drivers?
Also, I have another question: I used Live Update 5 a while ago, but now I saw the disclaimer, saying that it's not for notebooks...:( What do I do? How do I get rid of the drivers? Also, is there something like Live Update for notebooks aswell?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi 14Died14,
For the registration problem, think it's better to contact MSI and ask them to check of your registration.
        http://register.msi.com/
As you known Live Update 5 is not for notebook and the fastest way to uninstall all the drivers you installed by using live update is to do system reset and re-install all the drives. Sadly you'll have to download all the drivers and update them one by one. I'll strongly recommend you to re-install the drivers since there might be some unknown issues pops up if you're using the drivers from live update.
Which OS are you currently using?

  • I think MSi Live Update 5 killed my mobo...

So today I finally got my new CPU and mobo (3570k and MSi Z77A-G43). I got Windows 8 up and running then I went to MSi's website to update my BIOS. I did not know what to really update so I just downloaded this Live Update 5 crap that would scan my rig and see what could/can be updated on my mobo. I went to download the BIOS update 2.8 (my mobo was on 2.5). I started the update and about a minute later my computer froze and it blue screen of death on me. It restarted and now it won't boot up anymore. Here's the things that happen next:
(Also, I don't have an optical drive so I used my dads USB BluRay portabl drive as my optical drive. I set that as my first boot priority and never got to change it since my PC BSOD'd on me).
1). When I start my PC with the USB portable drive plugged in it turns on but my screen is still blank. What is also weird is if there is a disk in the drive and it stops spinning, then the computer turns off.
2). And when I unplug the USB portable drive my PC just constantly boot loops.
I tried restoring the CMOS by jumping the pins. I tried taking out the battery for a while. I tried starting my PC with my HDMI cable plugged into the mobo itself. I know RAM and CPU aren't the culprits because I was able to install Windows 8. My CPU ran cool at about 34 degrees celsius when I looked in the BIOS.
Any ideas on what to do? I'm thinking its going to be RMA'd.

Try placing the bios file in the root directory of a fat 32 formatted usb stick and inserting it into a usb 2 on the back of the computer then trying to boot.

  • Live Update, Is it me...?

Hello, the newbie using MSI boards back again. I am wondering if there is something up with the Live Update Site or it something on my end. I have gone to the Live Update site at least 30 times within the last several days and can't seem to get anything downloaded.
The downloads get one-quarter to halfway done and just stop as if thier server is busy or...? I am mainly concerned with the BIOS update for my board.
I have one small issue I need to finger out. I was going to throw this thing back were I got it from. Even after solving my hard drive woes.
I originally had my Audigy card in the 2nd PCI slot below the AGP card. The Audigy would work half the time and the computer would just freeze or just sit in la, la land. I'd have to kill the power and reboot.
Anyway, I cannot use my USB scanner on any of the USB ports. It is Win XP compat and I have cert. drivers. It worked great on the ASUS.
I changed the Audigy to the bottom PCI slot. So far she don't lock or go to la, la land and the sound works all the time so far.
Anything, I don't know that someone could shed some light on? I have had two good days so far and the board seems pretty stable with the exception of the USB scanner.

I am having the same problem.  I can't get anything downloaded with Live Update.  The download freezes all the time.
I have noticed that you are using Win XP.  Does your board come with USB2 ?  If so, go check to see if the usb driver is installed or not? If not, install it.  It is included in WinXP service pack.  WinXp and it's service pack installations won't install it for you automatically, u have to go to Device Manager to install it yourself.  Once you are in Device Manager, you'll probably see an exclamation mark next to some device( it's probably your usb controller), right click on it and then choose Update driver or Install driver (don't remember), then choose "Install the software automatically".  It will take 1 - 2 minutes for the process to search and install the usb drivers for u.  The usb driver installation instruction for WinXP is available in Microsoft's knowledge base in its homepage. Go search for ""usb  winxp""

  • Live updating smart playlist question

I made a smart play list for my songs that have no rating.
but once I rate them the music stops because of the live updating. I turn this feature off but my question is, when will the smart play list update with the live updating off? Daily?
    Thanks

Ya I see your problem. The playlist is for stuff you haven't rated yet. If you rate it, it then comes out of that playlist. The problem being, if you rate the song while it is playing, it gets booted out of the playlist and since that is where you are currently playing music from, the song abruptly stops playing. Right?
As Beavis pointed out, if the live update is turned off, it will NEVER update because the playlist is frozen at the time you either create it with live updating turned off or when you turn off the live update feature.
So the solution is, leave the live update off. Then at your own schedule, when you remember, edit the smart playlist, click Live Updating, click ok to exit. The playlist will be updated with rated songs being removed and new stuff you added to the library being put into that playlist. Now edit it again and uncheck the box to turn off live updating and you can continue to play out of the playlist and rate as you go. Then repeat next time you are ready to update your playlist.

  • Is Live Update helpful yet, or still more problems than fixes?

    Hi
my 180 has been running decently for a while now.  The only thing that still makes me want to hang myself is this asinine problem with the sound card occasionally disappearing, requiring an unplugged reboot.
I shut off live update a while back because it seemed to create more problems than it fixed. can anyone confirm whether there is anything in there that addresses the sound card issue?
Also, there appears to be a new BIOS featuring an option to "Enable USB Keyboard Latency".  I am currently using a wireless USB keyboard and mouse with no problems.  Do I care about the new BIOS?
Here's my current version info (mine on the left, MSI's on the right)
    BIOS-   3.3      3.5
    Live VGA Driver-   4467      6681
all other are up to date with live update.  I have been very gun shy about letting it update these, since it seemed to cause so much trouble over the summer.  Can anyojne shed some light on whether these updates are necessary?
    tia!

okay, i guess it is a deluxe model. i initially thought the deluxes were the ones that could run dvds in hifi mode.
anywho, it finally lost the sound card again.  it was an interesting feeling being excited about it for once, because i could continue this thread.
the speaker icon in the taskbar disappeared, and the nvidia drivers vanished from "sound, video, and game controllers"  device manager (both nforce codec and nforce processor). msi live update doesn't find anything new, but just for giggles i clicked "update driver" from the properties tab on both, and windows was able to find new drivers.
at this point, i assume that noone has found a solution, so I'll keep updating this thread for those who are fellow sufferers.
Another thought on the heat issue, the outside temps hit 66 degrees fahrenheit today (who said january?), so i wonder if that raised the temp in the cabinet just enough?

  • MSI GT70 ONC support please

My GT70 ONC with Windows 7 has several issues that I am asking for help with.
    1. The MSI Live Update 6.1 downloads updates but the installer fails to install them.
    2. The Turbo button stopped working months ago. I tried several solutions to no avail. I miss it.
    3. KLM stopped working long ago. I followed the steps and links in the FAQ to no avail: ( sorry I'm not allowed to post external links I guess).
    4. S-Bar stopped working. I followed the steps in an old FAQ here but the downloads for the ONC are not available. I searched for drivers on external websites but I'm hesitant to register and give them my email as I'm not sure if they're trustworthy.
    5. Would any of the other GT70 drivers on the download support page work for the ONC (i.e. GT70 2OC)?
Has the rapid increase in gaming requirements left me in the dust?  Am I correct that my GTX 670M does not have enough memory to play many newer games (not enough ram)?
I use the Intel Driver Update Utility and the GE Force Experience to attempt to keep my drivers up to date - can't seem to update the RealTek HD Audio with the MSI tool as well.
Many thanks in advance as I'm obviously not an IT person just and old guy that struggles quite a bit and Googles a lot.

Firstly, MSI Live update doesn't support MSI notebook, so don't use it to install drivers or you'll have many unexpected problems.
Try to re-install the OS and install the drivers from MSI website and then check the problem again.
Here is the driver download page for your model:
    Win7 64bits: http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GT70_0NC.html#down-driver&Win7 64
*Don't use any third-party programs to update your drivers, you may have some unknown issues by using them.
(I've met many users on the forum suffering issues because of using the wrong way of updating drivers.)
About the graphics driver, the latest generic driver from NVIDIA isn't always better, sometimes the latest driver has some issues which the older one runs more stable. In my opinion, as long as the system is running stable, I won't be  encouraging an update of the latest generic driver.
Lastly, sometimes people meet some issues caused by GFE and due to the reason that it's harder to diagnose, so they prefer not having it installed and choose to manually update driver from the MSI website or NVIDIA website.
