Live update never works

everytime i reinstall windows and my motherboard drivers, i try live update. why does it never work? not once. never can connect to server. it's live update 2 on the cdrom for the mobo. and i can't/don't know how to get live update 3 or even if that would work since 2 never not once will work or connect to server.
basically i wanna get all newest hardware drivers for my mobo and wanna get live update working asap.

They made changes a week or so ago that seemed to break the url it used. I, and others, had to uninstall the program and download and install a new copy to get it working again.
You can always go here: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=433
and select the bios and drivers links to get everything you need.

MSI Live Update not working Windows XP Professional 64bit Edition!!!

Thank you so much. I just want to say I really appreciate when people do take the time to post me in return. So I really mean it, Thank You.
A quick question. You see, I have been upgrading my computer. I installed a Belkin USB USB Card (high speed 2.0) cause I needed more USB ports. Then I checked for compatable RAM and upgraded my RAM from 512MB to 2Gigs. Everything alright.
Now, I have checked for processors that are compatable with my board K9VGM-V (MS-7253). And MSI's chart says mine is compatable with the AMD Athlon 2x 6000 (3.0Ghz) *IF* I use the 89 watt and not the 125 watt. Here is a good URL for the processor details I found:
    http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Athlon%2064%20X2%206000+%20-%20ADA6000IAA6CZ%20(ADA6000CZBOX).html
Now do you have any tips and I will probably have to flash to BIOS for sure after this upgrade won't I?

  • Anyone Get Live Update to Work on Win XP 64 Bit?

The following happened when I installed MIS Live Update from both the MB's cd and the latest version of Live Update (v 3) downloaded from the MSI website.
    Installed Liveupdate.  Installation went fine.
Said to restart comp.  Restarted comp.
Windows booted.  Got error message "The service was not started".
Computer restarted with no input from me.
Windows booted and got same error message.
    Comp restarted again.
    This infinite restart loop continued.
Pressed F8.  Went to Safe Mode. Uninstalled LIveupdate from Add/Remove Programs in CP.
    Restarted.
Comp back to normal but no Live Update (as expected).
Anyone else see this and/ or get Live Update to work with XP 64 bit edition?

Yes you are right.  The system drive will always be Drive C, but I am not sure if D will be my storage drive or the other sytem drive.  I could always try and find out but just havn't.
In the past, I had lots of virtual drives (partitions), and HDD's (as many as 10 total IDE devices).  But when the larger drives became more affordable, I prefer running with just 2, the system and storage for the sake of simplicity.  Since I do beta testing, I have having to reformat and reinstall a lot, so this system has worked great for me.

  • Has Live Update EVER worked? Trying to download "AMD Chipset Drivers" 970A-G46

I just installed W8 clean, added 8.1, all the updates, and installed Live Update fresh to see if i actually works this time around.
I see that apparently it still is a piece of crap software.
Never have I found this program to take less than several hours / entire day to download something that I allegedly need. It will tell me my BIOS is up to date yet when I go to the MB page and compare the version from BIOS and Live Update, there IS a newer version there (heck it is up to 2.6 and I had a v 1.0B using Windows 7). Even after flashing with USB to 2.6, LU5 is still showing my BIOS version as 1.B0.
I just wound up manually downloading the internet, realtek audio, and usb drivers then installing them myself.
The only file that is missing from the MB page is what Live Update is telling me as "Not Installed": MB Driver /AMD Chipset Drivers/(current version) Not Installed/(online version) 13.101.0.0
I have been waiting at least 30 minutes downloading this file through LU5 which is only at 27%.
Is this even needed? Is the MB page THE DEFINITIVE page for downloads and should I just uninstall LU?

Well, it is an AMD based board, not Intel. Shouldn't the board manufacturer supply the drivers for their own board?
p.s....after letting the one file download for over an hour, there is a corrupt file in it /rolls eyes...I also can't find drivers for an ATI based MB on the AMD website. The only selections for drivers are for graphics cards.
So you didn't get a disk with your motherboard?
Yes, MSI will provide drivers for your motherboard off of their website, or with the disk that came with your motherboard. You had mentioned the newest drivers...the newest drivers will always come from the chip manufacture...ie AMD, Intel, Nvidia, etc.
AMD no longer has a specified chipset driver to the best of my knowledge. They have Catalyst...it pretty much takes care of everything.

  • Reason for msi tabs & live update not working

Ok i had the same problems with my msi video card the msi tabs not working and live update giving me an error. I used to run a asus p4b533 board with a sis chipset> what i found out is that the live update and the tabs work under any m/b that have the intel chipset. I now have a asus board with  a intel chupset it's working fine.  I've tried this on other boards and same results.  It seems that everyone who's had the problem was not using an intel chipset board. This is my theory...

Just reinstall LU, and you should be fine.

  • Ms-8900 and live update not working

In the beginning the live update auto-search would work, but now it it stops running when it gets to "searching for msi utilities" and does nothing.  I have updated to the 3.34 version, no pop-up blockers, etc...
any ideas why it's doing this now?

You might want to try and uninstal it then reinstal it, and if that does not do it, then more than likely their service is temporarly down, Has happened to me a time or two and more often than not it is the site to blame.

  • Updates never work!

Every time i try to update my ipad or ipod touch, it's 99% complete, then i get a message saying there was an error backing up the device and if i want to continue backing up, everything on the device will be erased (so naturally i say 'no') and the update never finishes. i just tried updating my ipad2 with the ios5 software and got the same message and haven't been able to update my old-as-crap ipod touch because of the same issue. i just updated itunes to 10.5 right before this and it still didn't work. what could be the problem and how the **** do i fix it??

  • Norton Anti Virus  Live Update stopped working after last system update

    Hello,
I am using Anti- Virus version 11 for MAC. It has worked fine for years. Now Live Update will not run.
I have tried reloading and nothing helps. Is anyone experiencing this problem.
    Alice

    FYI:
Norton Anti-virus software is the worst app to install on a Mac. It will slow down the drive and cause all sorts of system issues. Delete Norton and get ClamXav available here, and it's free:
    http://www.clamxav.com/
There are no known Mac virus. If you really think anti-virus software is necessary, then use Clamxav. It can detect a trojan horse and malware both.

  • Msi Live update not working.

Hi. Always when I start up my MSI live update a window pops up and says "Error. Service could not be started/initialized" (I don't know exactly because my Windows are in Czech). Everything worked fine yesterday. The only modification I have done is inserted a sound card (Sound blaster live). I have disabled the old one in BIOS. ;(
    Please help.

Just reinstall LU, and you should be fine.

  • How does live update 6 work with BIOS updates?

I want to upgrade to the x99 platform but I am concerned with how new it is.  I want to make sure I keep the BIOS updated because of the "newness" of it all and compatibility issues.  Although I have built and continue to upgrade my system I am in no way proficient in trouble shooting or making changes.  So flashing the BIOS always makes me nervous that I will screw something up.  So when I heard that MSI has a program called live update 6 that automatically updates the BIOS it got my interested.
Can anyone give me some advice on how this program works?  Or are the compatibility issues more an issue of the past when Intel rushed the CPUs out and the MOBO makers had to play catch up?
Thanks for everyone's advice and help.

    Hi
Which exactly motherboard you're looking for? If you're afraid of bricking BIOS, then I suggest something like X99 MPower/XPower which has dual BIOS.
LiveUpdate: downloads the update pack, does some magic within bootup and updates the BIOS. I don't know the exact process it does, but works just like installing a software: download, extract, install. Also MSI offers MFlash which lets YOU go through flashing process: download, prepare USB stick, boot from USB (or use MFlash within BIOS settings) and update.
Risks: flashing BIOS is always a risk, no matter if it's MSI, Gigabyte or anyone else's brand. It's a chip, that if something goes wrong (for example system is not stable), then motherboard may get bricked and recovery may/may not be possible.

  • Automatic Updates Never Work

In all the years I have been using Skype desktop client, I don't think it has ever auto-updated itself despite this feature being enabled (and on several different computers).
I am currently running Windows 8.1 Pro (fully up to date).
Today I performed a manual update check and as usual it said that I already have the latest version of Skype installed which is currently 7.0.0.102
Just to make sure, I checked the current download version on the Skype website.
    This shows 7.1.60.105
I tried disabling my AV software and also the firewall just in case they were causing a problem but it made no difference.
Any ideas please? This is quite annoying!
    Alan

    Thanks for the reply.
I've already mentioned that I tried completely disabling my antivirus and firewall.
You say that the most recent version may not be available for my computers yet, but the point I am making is that it has NEVER auto updated in YEARS of use.
I still don't understand why Skype should be so different to all other apps that work properly.
And how am I supposed to know whether an update is available?
No version numbers are published. The only way to find out if there's an update is to download the file and check the file properties.

  • Update never works

An automated message popped up on my laptop telling that a new Adobe Reader was available to be installed. At the end of the install process, a dialogue box told me that "Adobe Reader 8.1.3 Update failed to install".
I am moved to write this post because, over the years, this has happened so many times on so many PCs that I have owned or used (as soon as the process started, I mentally told myself "this is very unlikely to be successful").
    There are two aspects:
    1. Why is Adobe's update so unreliable?
    2. Why is the message so uninformative? No information whatsoever is provided about why the install failed, whether I should be concerned or how I might rectify the problem.
I appreciate that this is free software and so I should not expect high quality but it has happened to me so many times that I am surprised that Adobe are unable to improve their updater's reliability.

I am having the same problem with the 8.1.3 update. I have a WinXP SP3 desktop system. I tried a reboot, installation in Safe mode to no avail. The error reads "Adobe Acrobat 8.1.3 Standard update failed to install." If you click OK it says "the updating process is complete"
Never had a problem before. Maybe the update is broken?

  • Live Updating Not Working in 11.0.1

I noticed something odd after the latest iTunes update (v11.0.1).  I have a smart playlist that I play in the background that looks for songs I haven't played in X number of days.  Obviously, after a song plays then the Last Played field should update the song would be removed from the list.  I've been noticing that the song count for the playlist hasn't been decrementing, and even after playing a song I can still find it in the list and the Last Played field has not changed.  What's interesting is that if I manually click to the very end of a song, then the field updates and is removed from the playlist.  So...it appears that for whatever reason either the playlist is not liveupdating with the Last Played info, or some other sort of bug/issue has been introduced?

I am also unable to clone a live vm or virtual disk, and I am using fiber channel storage. What version of Oracle VM are you running? Does your VM have any physical disks attached? I believe a Live Clone is only available if the VM only has virtual disk images or if you're using a Storage Connect Plugin to a SAN that can do hot clones of physical LUNs.
