Live Value card muting my

[size="3" face="Comic Sans MS">I have been using a Soundblaster Li've Value card for quite a while now, with an annoying glitch in it.I do a lot of golfing on-line, with voice conversations via Messenger or Skype. Once in a while, I will lose my mic (maybe once every couple of days), but will still be able to hear the other person. When I go to my volume control panel, my mic will be muted. I can take the check mark out, and the mic will be li've again for internal things. However, I still won't be able to talk outside the computer. Closing and reopening the App doesn't fix the problem. I have to reboot the computer. I've tried Windows Messenger, MSN Messenger and Skype with the same result. I've tried 2 different Li've Value cards, with the original drivers from the CD, the latest Li've Dri've Unipack, and the Windows drivers. Always the same thing. My System:

Tried lowering the audio hardware acceleration. Seemed to help the problem, but just for a little while. The game still "distorts itself to death" apparently. I have no clue what could be causing this. Any ideas? Anyone?

  • Which shoul i use? realtek alc 650 or sb live value?

yah i haven't found any decent comparisons or reviews that pit these two sound controllers together and i'm hoping that someone could possibly answer this for me . . .
i have the soundblaster live! value card and there's the realtek alc 650 sound controller on my mobo . . . which one of these two do u guys think is better to use?
can someone compare the two? like which one uses more cpu load, sound quality, etc . . .

Yes ... I am having problems having sound in my video capture ... I downloaded the new SB Live drivers for XP and I found the extraction in my one of the local settings folder.  I've tried different ways to acquire sound in my video captures.
I switched back to the SB Live Value card a few hours ago.
I've got sound now but kind of hit and miss.
I use a Maxtor ATA 133 card and have four ATA 133 60 GB drives sitting on the bottom of my tower. Plus a 40GB and 60GB mounted normallly.  I do use the KT4V-L mobo and the XP 2500-Barton.
HP 9100 cd writer and Sony DRU-500a DVD Burner.
I'm using the LAN on board for DSL.
FANS: One is mounted in back ... I cut the holes out to increase air flow.
Another fan is mounted on side panel ... shooting outside air towards my CPU.
RAM is one stick of Kingston KVR333X64C25/512 DDR Ram
BIOS setting is FSB 166 setting.
System - Mouse hasn't froze up yet ... when it does happen I usually here a small faint sound ... "ping"-"poing" and then the mouse is moves again.  Audio and video playback is also affected when this happens.
I've changed my swap file to one of my 60 GB ATA 133 drives only. Setting is 1000 MB and C-Drive is not included.
I'm really frustated with this freezing up problem.  I've got too many new parts to figure out what is wrong.
WIN XP - KT4V-L MOBO - and new DDR ram are all installed in same time period.
Any suggestions?? ... Mouse hasn't froze up yet after changing Swap file settings.
Have you been to the Black Viper website ???
What do you mean by "Surround Mixer 2" are you refering to the baby blue mixer I saw a few days ago.  I liked the old mixer more.

Someone said about not beeing able to run 3dmark03 sound test with the realtek - right! the SB Live! has 32 hardware voices, can take a much more number of audio inputs (if you have some 5Ghz CPU u can run about 32 winamps at the same time ).
Hmm but you have a VIA... that has problems with SB Live!
I have also, but only in 9x, in XP is working smooth.
About the latency - you can get very close to real time if you install the ASIO drivers but the KK Mixer sucks.

  • Drivers needed for Sound Blaster LIVE VALUE - Model 4780

I had to move my SB Live Value card model 4780 S/N 4780210008722, to another computer and require new drivers for the SB card which has a gaming port.
I have a 3.0 gig IBM Think Center box using Windows XP SP2.
I tried the DOWNLOAD area Creative provided but found the information very confusing as to what drivers and patches to download. First it said to download except if I did not have the original installation drivers (which I don't have), but then it says to download the drivers as an upgrade.
Again, they don't address clearly what I should download for a basic installation which includes use of the game port for use with flying type software. I have 2-3 joysticks consoles i'd like to use on my newer computer using the CT 4780 SB card.

  • Trouble with Digital output on Live Value under Windows

I have a soundblaster li've value card in my system using the digital output in win98se and all works fine. I just upgraded to WinXP. The windows drivers worked fine once i switched them to digital output. However, i lost the Creative mixer and wanted it back. I then downloaded your Unipack driver for the Li've card for winXP and lost the digital output even when i toggled to digital output control. I then downloaded the li've value from the Gateway site since they OEM'd the card in my system and the digital is working again. However, they do not provide the Creative mixer. Is there anyway I can get the Creative Mixer to work in XP wiith the li've value card? Thanks
    Soundblaster FAQ states:
Some name brand systems shipped with a special Li've! Value card that was made to work with digital speakers. If you system shipped with a Li've! Value and you have digital speakers you will need to use drivers provided by your system manufacturer. If you use the drivers on the Creative website your card will no longer work with your digital speakers.
Boston Acoustic Digital Speakers or Prebuilt System With a Digital Li've! Card
If you have a set of Boston Acoustic digital speakers that came with your system and they are not working with your sound card, make sure you have it connected to the digital out on the card. Also make sure that the digital out is enabled.

I still always get the value 0.0 returned for minA. I
know that the data is being correctly stored because I
have a seperate report frame that displays all values
    for all entries.
Any ideas where the flaw is?
    Thanks!
Hey, there. It's unlikely that your users are entering negative numbers which are the only numbers that will be less than zero. You need to initialize your minA to be some quite large number.

  • Audigy2 Value card corrupted my CD-Rom driv

Purchased a brand new Audigy2 Value sound card and installed it in my system (Dell Dimension 2400) along with the card's software from the CD. Earlier that day my system was working just fine and I was able to use my CD-Rom dri've and my CD-RW burner dri've as well. After I installed the new card and its software I was able to play MP3 files from my hard dri've and I was very happy with the great sound coming from my new sound card.
Later that day I wanted to play a CD to see how that sounded and that's when the trouble began... My computer no longer was able to access either of my two CD dri'ves. When I checked them out in my device manager it stated that their drivers were now either "corrupt or missing". Not hard to figure out how this occurred seeing as they functioned normally earlier that day before I installed the new Audigy2 and its software. I read the trouble shooting steps on the Creative Knowledge Base section and tried to follow the advice given for this type of problem but it was of no use. Phoned Creative support and the best the techs could suggest was to erase all of the Creative software and yank out the card and see if the dri've's come back. Didn't help. The drivers that operate the two dri'ves were still "corrupted or missing". Now my only option was to download new CD-Rom drivers from Dell.Com and try and get my CD-Rom back in action with new drivers. But... the new Dell drivers require that you copy them onto a bootable floppy disk to start the computer with so they will install properly with the system and its bios. Great, the Dimension 2400 does not come with a floppy dri've and Dell says there is no other way to install the new drivers except with a floppy disk which is hard to believe in this day and age of so many systems being sold without them. So now I can't reinstall the drivers to make my CD-Rom work and I can't use my master CD with the drivers because my CD dri've doesn't work. It's looking like I'll be purchasing a **bleep** floppy disk external just to try and get my system back to normal.
Just wanted to share this experience with other Audigy2 Value card owners or potential buyers. Great sounding card but certainly not worth this kind of trouble and pain!

if your using winxp, try the system restore feature. go back to the last restore point before you installed the creative drivers and see if that recovers your old drivers.
if that works, reinstall the creative drivers using the custom install and don't install any of the dvd stuff or any other program you don't need to run.

  • New Audigy Value card completely nonfunctional in windows server 2

    Hi all,
I just bought a new Creative Audigy Value card for use in a windows server 2008 system that will control the electronic school bells system in the academy I work at. It's desperately important that we get a sound working on this server so that the bells can ring again.
Anyway, so here's the problem - the sound card, once installed, says that it is installed properly (i've used x64 vista drivers .0077 and .0065A from creative's website, installed and reinstalled several times) but in the vista system tray, it just shows the speaker with the X on it. When you click "go to mixer" it says "there are no audio devices installed."
In the audio properties, you can see the icon for the "sound blaster audigy", but although you can SEE the buttons for "configure" and "test" - clicking on them yields nothing at all.
I'm really at my wit's end here. The school needs its bell system, which this server plays through it's sound card. What can i do to get this sound card working like it's supposed to be? any ideas?

Yes, well, the box in the store had a sticker on it that said it was compatible with Windows Vista 64bit and 32bit, so I assumed that a 64bit server would be fine for it, but perhaps my assumption was incorrect.
At least if you tell me, that you're 00% sure that this card is not compatible with Server 2008, I will be able to move on and look for something else and use this card for a workstation instead.
As for the first commenter - thanks, but yeah I had already made sure that both the audio service and audio endpoint driver were automatically starting up with the server, so that's not the issue.
So, Mr/Ms Creative Moderator - I checked the page and it does not specifically mention Server 2008, just Vista. Can you let me know for sure that this card is not compatible? If you can tell me no, at least I can write it off as a stupid mistake. If you tell me that it should work though, I feel like I will have to keep trying to force this one to work.
    Thanks!

  • Soundblaster live value cannot install at

    Hi
I have recently bought a new PC that has onboard sound, however i want a full duplex soundcard for chatting over the net.
I had a soundblaster li've value in my old pc which i thought would do the trick so installed it but i cannot get any sound at all from it...the old soundcard is from 2000 but worked ok in my old pc
This is what i have done
. Changed the BIOS from EDB to PCI bus for audio
    2. Disabled AC 97 sound in Bios(which i presume is to disable the audio onboard)
    3. Set IRQ 5 to legacy as per the common problems on this site
    4. Installed the soundblaster unidrv pack downloaded from this site.
    5. Installed the creative play center then upgrade to 3
With the drivers installed the hardware is recognised and even diagnostics says all components are available but i get zero sound, not even the crackle when you plug/unplus the speaker jacks at any point. If i try to run the speaker test it causes the pc to freeze, which i have tried several times, both before and after a cleansweep installation sequentially . The my system.hardware says i have the soundblaster components correctly installed and they are working fine, just no sound. As soon as i take it out and switch back to my onboard sound i have no problems.
i have also noticed i get a error when i try to view the properties on the lmedia control devices option...the program shuts down rather than freezes which has only happened since i tried using the soundblaster as far as i remember, and then the whole device manager crashes
My system is a Athlong 64 bit 3400+ on a Winfast K8S motherboard
If this card is not compatible then what sound card would work with no problems (ie a more modern one)
I have read all the help on this site on these messages but nothing seems to work...is their something obvious i am missing?

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, Dell doesn't have any updates for me. I have a Dimension XPS B series computer and they don't offer any updates for SoundBlaster Li've! cards on their site. I just wish I could run the driver update file from the SoundBlaster website (DrvUniPac). It begins extracting but then says there is no SoundBlaster Product on my system, and then closes. As I mentioned before I tried the Auto Update from the SoundBlaster website and it detects the SoundBlaster Li've! Value card on my system and says that it is up to date. Why doesn't the driver update recognize my sound card?

  • SB Live Value - Fatal Exception OE err

I recently rebuilt my older Windows 98SE system using a SB Li've value card model# CT4760. Playing a CD via the CD-rom all is well. The trouble starts when I attempt to play a wav file that is stored on the HD. The receive a Blue Screen with a fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:0000007 message.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

    SirTerrapin,
Go through the FAQ at the top of this board. I would suggest cleansweeping out the card and moving it to a different PCI slot. Then reinstall, making sure Antivirus is disabled. These instructions are found in the FAQ.

  • Soundblaster live value vs soundblaster 7.1 24

Just bought from walmart a soundblaster li've 7. 24bit card to upgrade my 4 year old sound blaster li've value card thats 5. i think. but after a little research it seems the value card is 32 bit's so i actualy downgraded? or did i really upgrade?

The 32bit part of what you read in relation to your old card, is that the card operates in 32bit , just like most other things inside your computer, unless you have like the newer 64 bit cpu's.
As for the 24bit, in the Li've! 24bit card, the card i assume still operates in 32bit,
however, the card supports and can record 24bit sound files.
Your older card would have only been able to support 6bit sound,
cds till recently for example were only 6bit, however nowadays you can start to see cds come out in 24bit format.
Hope that clears up some things for you lol, basically, the 32bit, is to do with how the card transmits data,
24 bit is is to do with sound, and the way it is encoded.
To answer your question, Soundblaster li've value vs soundblaster 7. 24bit ,
In my opinion the 7. 24bit is better, as it has, and supports newer technology such asEAX HD, 24bit sound.

I bought two xbox live gift cards of $25 each when you had them for $20, but one of the codes is coming up as invalid when I put it in, I've checked and put it in multiple places and its still coming up as invalid, so do I need to go to a store and activate it or what? Hi,
I have recently built a new computer with Windows XP and have installed my older Li've Value card.
I need to use the soundfonts so I need to install Audio HQ but my install disk does not support XP.
I get a message that trying to install will lock up the system. The card is working with the drivers provided by the windows install. Can you tell me what steps to take to get the Li've Value software up and running?

  • Audigy 2 Value card starting to

Well like clockwork, my second Audigy 2 Value card is starting down the path of death. I've had this second one for close to 6 months, and like the first one I had when it started dying, mysteriously changed the speaker settings from 5. to 2.. My first Audigy 2 Value card did this after about 4 to 5 months, and then popping and crackling came. I don't hold any breath that this, my second Audigy 2 Value card will hold the speaker settings and won't have popping and crackling sooner or later. I don't get this one bit, as I've just recently built a dual core AMD machine and here are the specs. ASUS A8R-MVPAMD Athlon 4200+ X22GB of PC3200 memoryATI Radeon X800XTSB Audigy 2 Value card20GB Western Digital SATA harddri've, & a 200GB Western Digital Serial ATA harddri'veLG 6X DVDROM, and an LG DVDREWRITERWindowsXP Service Pack 2 with all updates?I've checked, and I'm using the January drivers for my SB Audigy 2 Value card, and for all my other hardware, including the ULi serial ATA controller on the motherboard. I just can't figure out why after close to 6 months, that on my second Audigy 2 Value card, it has started dying like the first one. I'm about ready to bail out entirely on Creative Labs soundcards.

AFAIK, common PC mic inputs are mono, usually plus condensor power (I think it's tip=signal, ring=power, sleeve=ground). This doesn't make a stereo mic "useless," but you'd have to use only one of its signals and rig up an adapter of some sort to use one.
Perhaps you can enlighten me about what a stereo mic is by industry practices where they are commonly found? It is 2 mono mics in a package, or a mono mic with duplicated outputs (for connection convenience I suppose)?
A USB mic probably won't be well-integrated with use of the soundcard. Soundcard mic amps don't have the best reputation for quality. If you're serious, a better approach is probably to either use an external mic preamp, or a mixer mic input, and connect the preamp/mixer line-out to the soundcard line-in.
