Live-Video and ACNS: Different documentation?

I had found two statements regarding live- video and ETV:
First in
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/video/ps9339/ps7063/data_sheet_c78-504500.html
"... Cisco ACNS provides both live unicast and multicast streaming services and on-demand access in which digital media files are cached locally for retrieval and viewed over the WAN at LAN speeds (Figure 3)."
And the second statement in
"Cisco Digital Media System 5.1 Design
Guide for Enterprise Medianet":
"... For Digital Signage and Enterprise TV live content, multicast is required as the transport. Cisco ACNS
does not support unicast to multicast conversion for the delivery method used by Digital Signage and
Enterprise TV. For this reason, Cisco ACNS does not provide any benefit for live content...."
Is there an difference or is this an failure?

I think the first statement should read:"ACNS does support unicast and multicast splitting for live broadcasts TO THE DESKTOP and with Windows Media streaming"
The second statements hints to HighDefinition streaming which is mostly compressed with H.264 MPEG4, and i don't think ACNS is able to split this (or convert unicast -> multicast)

  • How can I capture live video and still image by a DirectX compatible USB webcam using LabView ?

    Dear forum members
I'd like to design a user interface which shows a live video and capture still images for it by a DirectX compatible USB webcam using LabView or NI Vision Toolkit, how can I do this ? and If this is possible How can I reach the webcam DirectX filter properties and set them using LabView ? I would be grateful to anyone Who lead me to the correct solution.
        Sincerely
        Cem DEMiRKIR

    Cem,
With our example programs you can acquire and save an image (IMAQ >> File Input and Output >> Snap and Save to File.vi) from one camera, if you double the VI's to create the image and the image task, you can easily have one program acquire and save for two cameras.
I may need more information on what you mean by calibration.  Do you mean basic camera setup?  That can be done in Measurement and Automation Explorer by setting up the options within the IMAQ settings for each camera.  Or do you mean more complex calibration for special types of images?  The more description of what you mean, the better I will be able to help you get it done.  You mentioned zoom and motion parameters, what kind of motion?  Our vision drivers only control triggering the camera to acquire, then analyzing, processing and displaying the resulting image.
If you have more details on exactly what you want to do, that would be great.  Let me know if you have more questions, thanks!

  • New to iMovie, create live video and audio?

Hello, I am trying to create a video of a live musical performance to post on youtube and have figured out how to use the isight to get a video but can I use the biult in mics to record live audio with the video?

    Hello, Nateomite
As Karsten says, you will certainly get better results and much more convenience with a camcorder.
However, if you decide to use your MacBook, the built-in mic can record audio with your video:
in iChat: iChat > Video > Record Chat records both video and audio.
      in iMovie: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/7.0/en/10172.html
tells you how to record using your MacBook's built-in iSight (and mic.)
Other movie/video recording apps may work differently, but most allow sound with video.

  • How can you use one NetStream to publish video and audio from another NetStream in AS3?

Let's say one of your client programs in AS3 is able to receive live video and audio from a NetStream and play it on the screen.  How could you make it also take that video/audio stream that it's receiving, copy it over into another NetStream, and publish it elsewhere?  I need to know how to do with this regardless of whether RTMP, RTMFP, or some mixture is involved.  The reason why the stream needs to be relayed this way is a real long story, but it's necessary in this particular case. Thanks!

RTMP is TCP, which has higher overhead and latency because it guarantees packets are delivered (handshaking, causing latency and overhead). It also doesn't allow you to share connections directly between clients forcing the server to do all the work.
RTMFP uses UDP, which is a choice protocol for streaming video because it's the opposite. It's lossy which decreases latency and overhead from no retransmissions and most importantly (in some applications) allows you to connect directly from one Flash Player to another Flash Player (p2p) so the server overhead is dramatically reduced. The server is only required to negotiate the initial connection and then it's up to the clients to continue to facilitate that.
How you code your one to many or many to many relationship broadcast network will be based entirely on which of those you choose.
URLStream is very common to use in p2p. Here's an older Adobe article on p2p and an alternate quick old video tutorial (FP10) as a quick simple example of p2p over RTMFP you can view the source of.

  • Live Video Streaming from Remote Location?

    Hey guys,
I have a semi-off topic question. I have a mac book pro and final cut studio. I need to stream a live video and audio feed from a live event in a few months. This feed has to get to another location in a format so they can stream it live over the internet. I will be receiving a composite video connection to stream. My job is to take the video and get it to the server room for streaming. Here are my three questions:
    1) What kind of connection should I request at the event location?
    2) How is the best way to get the video into my computer and then stream it?
    3) What format is the best and what's the best way to encode it on the fly? Hardware I guess?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. You've already stated they're supplying you with a composite video feed. That would either be BNC (likely) or RCA (not so likely). Since composite video signals are analog, you'll need a DV device (camcorder, VTR or converter) to convert the incoming analog signal to a digital signal.
    2. Here's one method: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/delivery.html Also take a look at the Tricaster family of products.
    3. See #2

  • Is it possible to stream live video & audio from device cameras & mics to a server?

I would like to know if I can use flash builder to stream live video and audio from Android & IOS device cameras and mics to a media streaming server such as Flash Media Server or Wowza? I know the Android & IOS APIs allow for this but can it be done using Flex/Actionscript? The key here is "live" so you wouldn't want to have to wait for video and audio files to complete on the disk before sending it out. Ideally you would send it out via RTMP or HTTP streaming to stream out but any stream would do since once it gets to the server you can encode it.

    Hi
Yes, It's can do but There is a problem on IOS 8 when Switch Camera, Microphone is muted and Sound return when I press home button from my iphone out and press app again for few second
You can use as same as flash desktop video streaming for coding in mobile.
    Good luck

  • How to use videoTransmit.java to broadcast live video?

The solutions has a sample code:videoTransmit.java, but how to configure it to capture the live video and broadcast?
of course, broadcast the V/A signal is the best.

I think AVTransmit2.java can transmit V/A signal together through the first parameter, but how to fill in the parameter?
If i fill in vfw://0,the live video signal transport
If I fill in javasound://8000,then the live audio transport
So the question is how to transmit the two signal together?

  • Exporting videos and photos from iPhoto

I have upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (Clean install) and downloaded the new iPhoto
but since then, when ever i try to export my videos, the program gives me Error message saying that "it can't copy the file".
and after deleting my photo library, and reuploading the photos and videos, MANY TIMES!!! i start facing a new problem:
the iPhoto was able to export the videos, but when i tried to play the videos i recieve error message "this video can't be opened"
of course i tried different programs and i got the same error; while the original files play normaly.
the other BIG problem, which i just noticed now, that iPhoto is deleting my GPS information from the photos after exporting them!!!!!
i had this MacBook Pro for a year, and i started to hate apple and MAC and I don't trust anything i do with it..
anybody can help me to fall in love with MAC again?!!?!
    please help!

Thank you for taking the time and answering my question.
I decided to earse the disk, as i had so many problems with the laptop as it was extremly slow in almost everything.
and keep in mind that i only have Microsoft office 2011, and itune, iphoto, and recently i added Keynote, Numbers, Pages and ESET Cyber Security.
70% of my photos are still in an external hard drives as the original files, so i didn't backup them from the old version of iPhoto. The rest which i did back them up, i did through the Exporting option in iPhoto, using the settings as :
and that was ok, after doing the clean install of the OS, and upgrading to Mavericks, all the problems started with iPhoto.
For some reasons, iPhoto was refusing exporting the videos, and after different times of deleting the library and rebuilding it, iPhoto accepted to export the videos, unfortunately i didn't take a pitcure of the error message at that time. Now, this is what is going on:
    It will export the videos and most of them they will have the icon of QuickTime, as not readable videos;
and when you try to open them this what you will get:
    by QuickTime:
    By mplayer:
and when trying the VLC or iTune, they simply do nothing, like you never loaded any files in them.
and i have used the ! ? alot, as it was the only way to express my anger, as since i decided to by a MAC, i have never had a good easy peaceful day with it.
    thanks for your help.

    1) any practical use of P2P multicast will have a delay measured in seconds. it shouldn't go to 30 seconds unless you have a large NetStream.bufferTime.
    2) i strongly recommend against changing the multicast stream parameters. they all interact with each other. decreasing the window duration will decrease the effective reliability of the stream, by reducing the amount of time to receive all of the fragments of the stream as they pass through the P2P group -- especially when people join or leave the group, which can disrupt the low latency "push" trees that are constructed in the group.
    3) you should be able to change the encoding parameters on the fly without a major disruption. are you using H.264 or Sorenson Spark?  it's possible that your camera doesn't like to have its capture size changed and it is freezing temporarily.  i'm not having any trouble changing the capture size with my camera (and using H.264).  i recall there being some issue with changing the frames-per-second on the fly (at least some time ago, and i don't remember what the issue is) -- there was enough of an issue that i disabled it in my little app while actively publishing.

    Hello All...
Back after a brief absence, things look a little bit different.
I'm trying to take a 16 minute mini dv video and compress it for use on the web. I'm interested in any suggestions you may have on settings for the video and audio tracks. I've tried using Sorenson 3 (15 frames, key frames set to automatic, 320 x 240) for video and IMA 4:1 (mono) for audio. The resulting video looked great but the file size came in at about 255 Mb.

Thank you for the replies.  Everyone was correct about the jack, interface, and phasing problems.  I have been unplugging my motu audio interface and then using headphones at work.  I have not changed any detailed audio output settings in logic.  When I read that the jack might be a problem I tried switching headphones.  This actually helped.  I am using dre-beats headphones and they seem to be having issues with the mac/jack-(the phasing/panning problems.  I can use these headphones with other devices but not the mac.  I have to use ipod ear buds and the phasing seems fixed.  Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else.
If anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know its difficult to know what my final mixes are going to sound like and I have had to keep bouncing everything into i-tunes- sync to ipod and then listen in my car radio.
