Live video on Quicktime Player

is it possible to get a live shot from my camcorder to appear in Quicktime Player like in Finalcut & iMovie?

QuickTime Pro allows a few "options" when creating the "live" file (small, medium and device native) and the smaller sizes would have to be "rendered" (usually up-sampled) to match the project settings in other apps like iMovie or FCP or Express.

    Hi Tim ..
    Reinstall Safari 5.0.6 for Leopard
Then restart your Mac. Try Safari.
If it crashes again, uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Quit then relaunch Safari. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info.
If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.

  • IPhoto 6.06 won't send videos to Quicktime Player 10.1

    Good Morning,
iPhoto 6.06 on an iMac running 10.7.4.  Videos won't open in Quicktime Player 10.1 from iPhoto, but when I drag them to Quicktime they will opne and play.  I can't find any preferences in iPhoto to set what application is being used to play the videos.
What do I do next?  (aside from upgrade iPhoto, my grandma doesn't want to do that)
    Thanks,
    Phillip

You need to install Quicktime Player 7.  It can be done from the Lion install package via a custom install or from here: QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later

  • Cannot stream youtube/vimeo videos using QuickTime Player

I have a youtube video I would like to stream in QuickTime Player, I go to File/Open Location and paste the URL and click open I get this message: "The operation could not be completed". Can anyone help? I have tried this with vimeo as well.

I had a similar problem once, but it was duplicated audio, not video.
I fixed it by uninstalling Quicktime, rebooting, then reinstalling Quicktime.

  • Reading FCP captured video on Quicktime Player with time code displayed?

I have someone who has to view my FCP captured video. He has an Apple but no FCP. Far as I can make it out he can see the material by using Quicktime. Problem is he needs to see timecode to reference his comments. Is it possible to make Quicktime display time code?
    John
p.s. could find no Quicktime forum in this Apple site

If they happen to have Quicktime 7.3 or higher, they can click onto the TIME window on the lower left and see a drop down menu. In this menu you will see TIMECODE listed. That will display the clips timecode.

  • When i import videos from QuickTime Player, the video appear in red, how i can fix this

    HI, sr/miss:
i have some troubles when in many times i had to import videos from quick time player to imovie 10, in all cases the videos appears in red and i dont know how i can fix this, so please if anyone can help me i really would appreciate it.
in addition, i am not an expert in imovie 10, so be straightforward with the answer.
    thanks.

I am a complete novice with Final Cut Pro X.  I have learned enough to do what I need to do.  That being said I would gladly give you that info if you would point me to where I would find it.  When I do a "get info" on the mp4 file it tells me that the dimension is 640x480, the codecs are H.264, AAC, and I have 2 audio channels.  I did not download the additional content for FCP.

  • Why the video played in QuickTime Player only audio available and no picture?

Hi dear all, I need to play a video through QuickTime player 7.1.6, however there was only sound and black background shown, no picture. I have tried to play the video with Media Classic Player and it is totally fine.
The following shown the movie info:
    Format: H.264 Decoder, 352x288. Millions
                 ACC, Stereo, 44.100 kHz
Firstly, I thought it is a problem on codec, but I have tried other movies in the same H264 codec, and it worked well.
As I need to import the movie into Cubase, so I must make this able to be played through QuickTime Player.
    Appreciate much for the help!

Player version 7.1.6 is a very old version but it should play H264 / AAC videos without issue.

  • Quicktime Player not playing from USB drives

Throwing this at the Gurus out here,
Got an interesting issue going on with my USB drives. I have media that won't open with Quicktime on two 3TB USB drives, but if I move the media to Macintosh HD it runs. I checked permissions on the drives and am able to run the media (photos, audio or video) with Quicktime Player 7, but not with the normal Quicktime Player.
    Any hints? Thanks.

Never mind. After I had uninstalled, reinstalled, updated everything...
it still needed one more reboot. Then it worked again.

  • Blank, now garbled video in quicktime osx

I have a Samsung SC-MX20 camera, play perfectly in QuickTime Player 7.6 but the video is blank (black) in quicktime X, up until I upgraded to 10.6.4. Now the video is garbled. Funny thing is it plays fine on my (older) imac. Computer is a macbook (non firewire), late 2008 model.
    Thoughts?
    Rick

I'm having the same problem (no video when I open a MP4 or other video in QuickTime Player). However, I can view videos in iTunes. Candydrop's list is mostly my list too, but I don't have: AC3MovieImport.component or Perian.component.
I do have these that CandyDrop doesn't:
    AppleMPEG2Codec.component
    DivX Decoder.component
    FLV.component
So to sum up, this is my list:
    AppleIntermediateCodec.component
    AppleMPEG2Codec.component
    DivX Decoder.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Advanced.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Export.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Import.component
    FLV.component
Any ideas? This is a huge problem for me and I have to have it solved by the end of the day! Ack!

  • HT1338 QuickTime Player?

I recently made a screen video on QuickTime Player on my MacBook Air. Foe about 4 hours, it has said "Finishing"! What do I do. It is an issue because I want to create a new video.
    PLEASE HELP!
    BellaSavignano

    Hello,
If you upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion you should be able to have the latest version of Quicktime installed which is version 10.2. However, this version might not run some older .mov files. Fortunately you can download Quicktime 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3+. This version was designed for all OS X versions that came after Snow Leopard 10.6.3, therefore it should work with no problem under OS X 10.8.1.
    Here's the link:
QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later
    Hope this helps!

  • Quicktime Player unresponsive while screen recording. Help!

Hello. I often upload youtube videos with QuickTime Player and Final Cut Pro X. 2 days ago, I noticed a problem with quicktime player. Whenever I try to screen record, about 2 mins and 30 secs of recording, QuickTime Player becomes unresponsive. I am running on the new version of OSX Mavericks on a MacBook Pro. Thanks for concerning your time to help me fix this problem.

Thanks for the tip on the stop record function icon on the top menu bar.  Its disappointing that the new program with Mavericks doesn't keep the the player control box open when you are recording.  This may have been in response to some people complaining that the box can get in the way of the recording, although elsewhere it is said that even though it looks like it gets in the way it actually won't show up in the recording.
Regardless of your preference, I think some of us would ideally like to be able to see the window at times so that we can verify that the sound levels are coming through (its a royal pain to record an hour and find out later that no sound was recorded) and to potentially pause recording to remove sections where material is occuring that is of no interest (ie they took a break or need to look for something).  The stop button literally stops the recording and no longer gives you the option to RESUME.
The only thing that I found that does work although it is VERY CLUMSY is that if you attempt to quit   Quicktime the window with all the controls will show up.  If you hit cancel that window will stay there and allow you to do what you want.  Now I suspect all the messages that say DO YOU WANT TO END RECORDING are likely to show up in your recording, but I guess you can trim that out.  What would make a lot of sense is for them to have the option to view the control box in the  View pull down menu.
Oh well.  Any one else found any other ways to manage the quicktime screen recordings without being able to access the control window?

  • QuickTime Player displaying chapter names at top of screen

I have QuickTime movies created with Final Cut Express, with chapter markers that I use in iDVD. All that works fine. But now I want to take still screen shots of various points in the video, for use in marketing.
I am trying to use QuickTime Player to export still frames from the video. QuickTime Player displays the name of the current chapter in a white bar across the top of the screen. This is also exported when I export that frame to a still image. (The chapter navigation pop-up menu also appears at the bottom of the Player window, so I don't see why the current chapter name has to appear at the top as well).
Is there any way to turn this off, so that the exported still frame doesn't have the white bar across the top with the chapter name? I want pristine still frames, not those with the white bar. Or if it can't be turned off, is there any similar player that I could use, which can export full-size still frames?
    Thank you

Go to the movie properties ...Apple key+J....turn the chapter text track off.

  • QUICKTIME PLAYER BUG on 30" ADC

This is a new thread continuing a thread which someone wrongly flagged as having 1 "Solved" answers available.
For reference the previous thread is here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6101938#6101938
The issue affects Fullscreen video (and some resized video) in Quicktime Player in Leopard (all versions of OS & QT up to of 14 Dec 2007)
It occurs on Resolutions higher than 1920x1080 but more specifically 2560x1600 on 30" Displays
It affects PPC & Intel with either ATi & Nvidia Graphics cards.
The video playback can be "choppy" (especially HD content) and some people like myself are experiencing a shearing of the video vertically just left of centre.
All other software (Quickview, iTunes, Final Cut, et al) seem to play the same video correctly indicating that it is a Quicktime Player issue.
Also when any overlay (AV control, Adjustments, etc) are present over the Quicktime Player it plays back smoothly and then reverts to choppy and/or shearing when the overlay is cleared.
A few work-arounds are to use QuickView or iTunes, or to lower the resolution of the display to 1920x1200. However this is absolutely unacceptable as many of us will have paid 1000s for our setup including an 30" Apple Cinema Display to run at 2560x1600 and use Quicktime Player because of its video adjustment features.

I think all you need to do is Reset your iPhone (press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple logo, then release).  My iPhone 5 on 7.1.1 does not do this, so it is not an iOS bug, just a quirk in your particular installation.  Worse case, you may need to do a Restore of the iPhone, but try Reset first.

  • Audio Hijack pro quicktime player audio sync issue

I am trying to record youtube videos using quicktime player (screen recording the game) and Audio Hijack Pro (recording the game audio and skype audio). The problem is, when I edit the video, the comentary on a cirtain event very gradually gets further and further from the event in the screen recording. Is there any solution for this? If so please tell me. Thanks.

Yes. I own it. I solved the problem. I had a trial version of another sound enhancement program called WOW. I removed it and the problem is solved. It was obviously running in the background even though I thought I had uninstalled it.
    All is well now.
    Thanks!

How do I make that happen?

Have you tried downloading here, and not a pop-up? If you are running any anti-virus software make sure is off (disabled)
