Live View CS4 vs Live Data View CS3

In DW CS3 I was able to edit php pages in Design View with
Live Data View turned on. Without it the page did not display
properly. This made life easy adding content to clients web pages
(the main stay of maintaining web sites).
With DW CS4 this functionality appears to have been removed
or perhaps I just cannot work out how to get it.
Adding lots of content in code view is a pain - can anyone
tell me if and why this has changed and has DW become a tool for
fanciful coding at the cost of being the workhorse it used to
be?

To access Live Data view in CS4, select View > Live Data
or use the
keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+R/Shift+Cmd+R.

Can not view data in Dimension Data Viewer

Hello Forum,
Has anyone run into this one yet? with OWB10gr2
we have created a dimension called store, it has a simple hiearchy"
store-->category-->primary category-->Busines Unit
The dimension validates and deploys sucessfully - we have seen the notes to choose Deploy All for configuration instead of the default, reason being that if you don't choose Deploy All you will not be able to view it through the data viewer
We have mapped the data from our oracle staging table to the dimension and our map has run without error.
We can see data in the underlying table that supports the dimension, but when we open the dimension with object editor and try to view the loaded data via the dimension data view we get nothing?
What's up with that?

You're probably running into the same known bug we hit. See the OWB 10gR2 release notes, under "Known Issues / OLAP Catalog". Probably hitting the mentioned OLAP bug 4945008.

Why do events not show up in Historical Data Viewer

I am using Lookout V6.6 and Events are not showing up when I look at the A&E view in the Historical Data Viewer. I ensured that I have the Events enabled in the view filter. All Alarms show up but no events.

Same issue here with Lookout 6.1 on Server 2008 R2.
Historical data viewer does not show list of alarms and events.
The fact is that everything worked well and suddenly this functionality was lost.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

DPS 6 data view for base dn

My ldap client is showing my base dn twice through the dps which is odd. Anybody see that before? Is it because I have the root data view enabled and another data view enabled with the base dn stated? The root data view is showing the directory suffix setting right? Maybe I just need the root data view enabled.

if you have more than one data view on the same backend, then you will "view" the data more than once. So yes, stick to one one data view.
More generally, you can use more than one data view on the same backend if you want some kind of separation, say per client applcation, per ip, per bind dn, etc ...
that would be handled by the connection handlers.

Unable to see live data view for a access db

DW CS3
Access db
I'm attempting to connect to a "local" db on my server.
I use the database connection string"
Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;
Data Source=C:\catalog\Catalog\files.mdb;
Persist Security Info=False
ole db connection
While in the data link properties window the connection is
successful but in the ole db connection window I get "An
unidentified error has occurred".
If I just press ok I'm unable to see any of the table in my
db.
All I want to do is setup the Live Data view

Live data view

I installed php om my mac using xampp. I made a testSite
folder in the htdocs folder in xampp. I made a new Site in
Dreamweaver and made the testSite folder the test server folder
with local php/MySQL. I put
http://localhost/ as the URL preffix,
and I've tried 127.0.0.1. I made a dateTest php file and saved it
in testSite. I enter the link into my browser and the correct date
showed up, so I think I have my testing server working. Then when I
try live data view in DW I get the 404 error. It says its
attempting to request the dateTest.php file but it always adds some
radom number to the file name and it does'nt show the subfolder
testSite. The path in the error message is
http://127.0.0.1/dateTest_TUUF58NIX.php.
when I type it in my browser it's
http://127.0.0.1/testSite/dateTest.php
is this the problem or does anyone know whats going on?

OK, I have at least figured the first part out, which as I
gather from Google searching may be of use to a few people.
Of course, this is a wacky Vista permissions problem. One
must go to the folder in which your DB is housed and change the
permissions of user name IUSR to read and write. Note that as I
understand it this is changed in Vista relative to XP: In XP one
would change the permissions for user IUSR_<machine_name>.
Not so Vista.
I now have a new problem: when I try to execute the
Javascript .asp page using Live Data View, it gives me the error
"Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a1391
"'IInventory' is undefined"
I should mention that "Inventory" is the name I gave to the
DSN connection in ODBC Administrator.
Anybody got any ideas on this one?

Live streaming of a non-Flex View video from PC to TV via any FiOS capabilities

Hey all -
Is it possible to, using any capability of FiOS/Flex View, stream a live video from my laptop to my TV? There is an annual competition from Europe I watch every year (only available on the web to US viewers) and it requires a special plug-in so I can only view it from my laptop, unless of course I use an adapter to plug it into my TV (which I can, but prefer not to do if FiOS/Flex View has such an option).
Going through the Manager software, I couldn't locate anything like that, but for all I know I've just overlooked it or maybe someone has figured out a way to do this successfully.

I do apologize, but there is no way for that to happen. The Flex View or Media Manager software does not have the ability to stream live video broadcasts to your television. Looks like the adapter you were talking about is the best way to go. Enjoy your competition!

List View does not retain date formats from Excel

i am using List View control to isplay data. When i scroll the horizontal bar inlist view, the date format changes to numbers. is there were to stop this happening.

Hi Chandra,
Are you getting the values from any live connection or is it static data from the excel file?
You can also try to goto properties of component and in the appearence tab,select the format of the values as "DATE".
Incase you are getting the values from the live connection, you can select a different cell which would reference to the data coming from the connection and use it into the components.
e.g.: if values are coming in cell"A1" then goto some empty cell as B1 and type in"=A1" and use this new cell into the component.

Macros and Data View time bucket difference

Hi,
Our client is having a macro for a dataview wherein in one of the macro step, we have a condition where the values are checked for a bucket which I dont see in the data view. For example, in the macro, we have a condition for W06/2009 while in the data view, the column starts with W10/2009. What might be the reason for this? Or else, is this a mistake?

This is in response to your solution tht Macros will work on the data of the Live CAche and are not concerned of the period views in the planning book. But if that is the case, why would we have macros specific to the planning book?
So, what i am thinking is that, the macros will operate only on that data which are shown in the data view and not the other.

Hi, Im not a frequent forum poster, as most of my questions can be found already answered on them!
This is a question Ive had for a long time and it amazes me that no-one else seems to ask it. I check at each OS upgrade but its never there...
Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?
I was able to do this years ago in MS Outlook, and utilized it all the time when I needed to push things back, now I have to open the event and select an new date in the drop-down calendar for each & every event I want to move to a new month at the end of the month.
If its definitely not possible, how to you ask apple to consider including it - it doesnt seem like a particularly difficult task.

No, but you can use cut/paste. Cut (⌘X) the event, then click on the week where you want to move the event, and Paste (⌘V).
If you have a suggestion for Apple to change that method use: Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback.

I can not see data in data viewer

Hi,
I use OWB 10g Relase 2. I have one table and I imported table metadata to OWB. I load data to table with pl/sql script, Now I do not see data in this table in data viewer. I see data in SQL*PLUS
I tried deploy table and run script to load again. Same problem.
I run mapping from this table. But target object is empty as well.

Data View Web Part - List of Subsites and Document Libraries under Current Site - Must be able to Package as Site Template in SPDesigner

Hi Guys,
On the home page of each sub site I would like to be able to show a list of subsites and Document libraries that are under the current subsite.
I started investigating a solution using Datasources with SOAP requests sent to the server but it is very difficult to understand how to surface it on the Data View WebPart.
I have tried with the search results webpart but the problem is that it does not work well when packaged in a Site Template.

Ok,
Here is the problem:
When creating a mysite from powershell or script, apparently you can ONLY do this from a wfe (or a server running Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application in services on server).
You CANNOT create mysites from script on your appserver if it is not also a Web Application Server. I confirmed the same is true in my test farm. I guess I was always running most of these scripts on the webserver.
I searched all over and cannot find this documented anywhere.
Who do I contact to have Microsoft document this?
It's Thursday morning, I've been working non stop since Saturday morning so you don't have to :)

History and Future Bucket of the Data View

Hi Experts
As per my Client Requirement Planning for the Next year Jan 2010 u2013 Dec 2010 which Starts in the second Quarter of the Year 2009.
They need historical data (Historical Time Bucket) of Last 3 years in the monthly bucket and Future bucket for Jan 2010- Dec 2010.
My query in this regard to design Data view which need to Show Historical periods of Last 3 yrs from current month and Future Bucket as Jan 2010-Dec 2010 to input the Forecast.
The next planning Cycle would start in the second Quarter of the 2010 to forecast for the Jan 2011 to Dec 2011. When they plan for the Year Jan 2011 u2013 Dec 2011 the data views should be automatically roll or update with future bucket Jan 2011-Dec2011 and History Bucket with three years in the monthly bucket from the Current Month.
Please give your Valuable Suggestions with regard to above requirement.
I tried by Giving Planning Start Date as 01.01.2010 , but it is not fulfilling the above requirement.

Assume that we are in the Month of June 2009, My planners start the planning process for the Jan 2010 - Dec 2010.
If i take 1 year it wont help me , Future Buckets will be till May 2010.
If i take 17 Months as the Future Buckets , Future buckets are displayed till Dec 2010.
Till June 2010 In between Planners can have Revision , and may again change the Forecast.
Suppose Assume that we have revision in the month of March 2010 , Here Future Buckets are displayed till October 2011.
How to make my data view time bucket in the synchronized with future Periods.

'connect without context' profile takes away data/view data rights in model

Demystify ODI Security -- Documentation is very weak on this topic.
Non-generic profiles-This concept works perfectly well for projects/folders/packages.
But as soon as I bring in the new profile: CONNECT_WITHOUT_CONTEXT, the user loses the ability to query data from within ODI.
(‘data’, ‘view data’ options in the model/datastore section).
I have tried NG versus generic profiles of metadata admin-but somehow the data/view data option errors out:
Cannot display table’s data.
But if I use the regular CONNECT, the options come back.

That is because the CONTEXT links the Logical and the Physical. All Model objects are related to a logical schema. Each logical is related to a physical schema via the context. If you have no context, then you break the link, therefore ODI does not know 'where to look' for the data and will error.

Discoverer Viewer not showing correct data when scheduled

Hi All,
I have a bit of an ongoing issue and cannot find an answer through Oracle.
We have an issue that when a cross-tab workbook is run manually in Desktop this returns correct data, when scheduled in desktop it returns correct data in desktop, but when opening the scheduled workbook in viewer, incorrect and irrelevant data is returned
Here is a little information on the field that is not returning correct data;
The field is based on a calculation, the calculation (lets call BOB) contains PL/SQL function concatenated with an NVL calculation, this other calculation is a DECODE. I have been playing with changing the content of the BOB calculation, by removing the PL/SQL function and the DECODE calc from BOB and scheduling the report, the data is returned in viewer, in fact i've attempted one without the other and this still does not return the correct data.
This version of discoverer that is not returning data is V 10.1.2.50.05. I've tested this on a later environment with Discoverer V 10.1.55.26 and the data is returning correctly through the sceduled report in viewer.
My questions;
1. Has anyone ever come across something similar to this in version 10.1.2.50.05
2. Is there any detail available regarding what upgrading to 10.1.55.26 offers?
3. Know any workaround for using PL/SQL calculations in a scheduled workbook? I am aware that not aggregable items will not be returned in v11 when scheduling workbooks.
