LiveCache Server
Hi,
As we know, APO work with LiveCache. that is, i want to install a LiveCache Server before install SCM 5.0. So i download a LiveCache installtion guide from SAP web site. against the installtion guide, i can select SAP NetWeaver 2004s /Standalone Engines /liveCache Server /liveCache Server Instance, then install the LiveCache Server. but in my welcome screen of installtion, just ONE optional LiveCache Client, that is i can not find out the menu to install LiveCache Server on Bs2005 install master DVD.
i assume that JRE has been installed.
my SW prepairation: BS_2005_SR2_SAP_Installation_Master
IVECACHE:7.60_ 51032259
Could you help me solve this issue? thanks.
BR,
Hello Karl,
If you are SAP customer:
A) Please check at service.sap.com/pam or at
service.sap.com/liveCache -> Release Information
-> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0 ->
Matrix of released OS platforms for SAP liveCache Technology 7.6.0
if the OS of the server is supported for the liveCache installation.
For example, DB-Client database software only released for Application
Server on WIN SERVER 2003 32-BIT.
B) Did you follow the liveCache installation guide? You could find the
liveCache installation guide at
service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Business Suite Applications ->
SAP SCM -> Using SAP SCM 5.0 Server ->
"Installation - SAP liveCache Technology on Win - NW 7.0 SR2"
Or
"Installation - SAP liveCache Technology on UNIX - NW 7.0 SR2"
And if you have further questions/issues with liveCache or MAXDB please
post it at "MaxDB/liveCache" forum.
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Problem in starting SAP liveCache server
Hi,
I am getting the following error message when i tried to start SAP liveCache server with LC10.
"Restart of liveCache LC3 on saplc3cache terminated; reason: User LC3RFC has lock"
Message no. LVC072
Does anyone has idea! abt the error? why it comes and how it can be solved?
Thanks,
VenkatHi Christiane,
The startup procedure is not even reaching the lcinit script. There are absolutly no logs in knldiag and lcinit.log files. After little bit debugging I found the problem. But don't know how to solve it.
The problem occured when I was doing disrptive testing for the liveCache server.
When I kill ("KILL -9 PID") the liveCache server processes (<b>master first and then child</b>) there are some IPC resources hanging over there. These IPC resources (shared memory segments) holds some locks and are preventing the liveCache server to startup.
The problem is not happening when I kill child first and then master process (all the IPCs are getting removed in this case).
I am wondering whether SAP has any tool to remove these IPC resources for liveCache server uniquely for perticular liveCache server (something similar to cleanipc for SAP systems).
I can't write a script to remove all the IPC resources based on the user name ('sdb') which same for liveCache server and MaxDB. (Imagine a case where MaxDB(APO DB) and liveCache server are running together). Any other solutions?
Any answers/suggestions are most welcome.
Thanks,
Venkat -
LiveCache server time is 1hour behind SCM server
is there a way to update the LiveCache server time, which is 1 hour behind our SCM server. All I could find is that LC has a parameter called DATE_TIME_FORMAT but this is only a format, not an actual time zone type variable. Also, STZAC does not work. Is the timestamp coming from the underlying dB2 database?
thanksHi Ramiz,
the date/time setting is not configurable on the liveCache side.
Can you check if the operating system (OS) shows the same date/time on both machines (liveCache server vs. SCM / Apps. Server)?
Regards,
Roland -
We have installed SCM 5.0 on Windows system32 bit with MS SQL server (Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 1)
While installing the livecache 7.6.* not getting the option for installing the livecache server & getting option for livecahe client only.
OSS note: 919225 gives the requirement as the system with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 1 should be minimum requirement for installing the livecache server.
But the OSS note 863952 clearly says You can not run liveCache 7.6.0 server on 32-bit Windows platforms.. both the OSS notes provide contradictory information.
We are using the DVD ( mySAP Business Suite Solutions from SAP) and not getting the option for installing the livevcahe server under
Choose SAP NetWeaver 2004s -> Standalone Engines -> liveCache -> liveCache client
Please help us to resolve this issue.Hello Clara,
Please review the release information at
service.sap.com/liveCache -> Release Information -> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0
-> Matrix of released OS platforms for SAP liveCache Technology 7.6.0
The database software is released Conditionally on WIN SERVER 2003 32-BIT::
DB-Client Release for Application Server only.
< And you have to check note 919225 for Windows IA32 system requirements,
if you have the Windows 32-bit application server before to run the
liveCache client installation. >
SAP Note No. 919225:
"Reason and Prerequisites
- System requirements for liveCache (client only) and MaxDB on Windows
(32-bit)
7.5, 7.6"
=> both OSS notes didn't give the 'contradictory' information.
You need the liveCache client software to be installed on the application server to be able to communicate to the liveCache server.
Please review additional information in the SAP notes:
822239 FAQ: MaxDB Interfaces
990602 FAQ: CCMS for MaxDB/SAP liveCache technology
820824 FAQ: MaxDB/liveCache technology
If you have further questions about liveCache database please post the question at MAXDB/liveCache forum

LiveCache Server Install stuck on step "Create database Schema"
Hi,
I am trying to install LiveCache Server 7.7 using MaxDB as the database on a Windows 2003 Server (64 bit). However, it seems to be stuck on the "Create database schema" step. This is the last step on the installation. We run it for 24 hours without the step completing. We retried several times but the same result. I have seen that this happened to somebody on a different forum but no solution was provided. Any help is appreciated.
WillyHello,
-> Are you using the "@" character in the passwords of the database users?
-> May be the issue is similar to the reported in the SAP Note 848436?
-> Please try to run the installation with default passwords:
control/control
superdba/admin
sap<SID>/sap
-> See the documentation at http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/default.htm -> Database Administration -> Managing Users
-> Conventions for User Names and Passwords
-> SAP Note 767598 (SAP MaxDB: Available Documentation)
-> As SAP customer you have the option to create the OSS ticket on this issue, we could login to the system to review the problem & discuss the issue in more details.
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina -
While running the livecache server test a native sql error occures
We are using scm4.1 livecache 7.5.0 And every time we are running the livecache test program he is dumping
whith the following dump
patch level scm & scm_basis is 8
Runtime Errors DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR
Except. CX_SY_NATIVE_SQL_ERROR
Date and Time 31.10.2005 16:50:55
ShrtText
An SQL error occurred when executing Native SQL.
What happened?
Error 600 occurred in the current database connection "LCA".
What can you do?
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
date.
is especially useful if you want to keep a particular message.
How to correct the error
Database error text........: "Work rolled back: DbpError -28814 in
APS_ORDER_CH"
Database error code .......: 600
Triggering SQL statement...: " ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
? ? ? ? ? ? ? or'"
Internal call code.........: "[DBDS/NEW DSQL]"
Please check the entries in the system log (Transaction SM21).
You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
in the SAP note system. If you have access to the note system yourself,
use the following search criteria:
"DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR" CX_SY_NATIVE_SQL_ERRORC
"/SAPAPO/SAPLOM_PLANNING" or "/SAPAPO/LOM_PLANNINGU08"
"/SAPAPO/OM_ORDER_CHANGE"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and you wish to send
an error message to SAP, include the following documents:
1. A printout of the problem description (short dump)
To obtain this, select in the current display "System->List->
Save->Local File (unconverted)".
2. A suitable printout of the system log
To obtain this, call the system log through transaction SM21.
Limit the time interval to 10 minutes before and 5 minutes
after the short dump. In the display, then select the function
"System->List->Save->Local File (unconverted)".
3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
supply the source code.
To do this, select the Editor function "Further Utilities->
Upload/Download->Download".
4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
or which actions and input led to the error.
The exception must either be prevented, caught within the procedure
"/SAPAPO/OM_ORDER_CHANGE"
"(FUNCTION)", or declared in the procedure's RAISING clause.
To prevent the exception, note the following:

the error DbpError -28814 denotes that an object cannot be found.
Can you maybe tell me your exact liveCache version (incl. Build level) and LCA Build?
Additionally, please copy the relevant error information from the file (/sapdb/data/wrk/<SID>/)knldiag.err into this thread.
Which exact 'liveCache test program' are your referring to (which of the /SAPAPO/... transactions)?
Kind regards,
Roland -
Having problem connecting to the livecache server from APO instance
Could not able to connect to the live cache server from the APO server after installing both the instances separately on two different systems, while using the T-code LC10 to make a connection from APO DDIC login its displaying the following message
""timeout during allocate / CPI-C error CM_PRODUCT_SPECIFIC_ERROR ""
after entering the Livecache name and Livecache hostname correctly in the livecache integration..both the instance are on the same network and able to ping each other with the hostname and IP addressess..
It will be great if somebody help me in solving the problem..
Thanks in Advance

Dear all,
Can someone explain the principle and/or problems when you install a new LC server.
note not from backup tape, only backup cubes are available.
What will be missing? What is the process to "restore".
Cheers.I think this is a good question to ask in the MaxDB/liveCache forum in SDN. It's under the Database & OS Platforms.

can you help me on this.Hello,
-> As SAP customer you have the option to create the OSS ticket to the component BC-DB-LVC to get SAP support.
->
"1. if we need to install livecache server.. I need to go for only for MAXDB."
You need to install the liveCache server of the 7.7 version, as you are installing SCM 2007 with LiveCache, APO.
Please follow the liveCache server installation guide.
"2. In the MAXDB Instance I have to give the Instance name same as Live cache server SID ?"
How many MAXDB/liveCache database instances are you planning to install on the liveCache server?
"3. IF we need to Install livechache server, do we need to use SID same as SCM or different one?"
The liveCache SID for the SCM system need to be unique on the liveCache server, you have only one database instance MAXDB/liveCache with this name, also you checked the restrictions for the names at
http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/default.htm -> Glossary ->Database Name -> Conventions for Database Names
"4. SCM IDES and Live Cache is running one the same machine."
You could run SCM IDES and Live Cache on the same machine.
"5. After this LiveCache server.. we need to Install livecache client also install... if the SCM IDES and Livecache running on same BOX and SAME OS."
If the liveCache instance and application server are running on the same machine, you don't need to install the liveCache client software.
Please review the SAP notes::

SCM Dialog instance installation, post installation activity for livecache
Hi All,
We have installed SCM 7.0 Central instance with Livecache server. Now we have successfully installed additional application server (i.e. Dialog instance) for this SCM 7.0 system.
We need to know
After installation of SCM 7.0 Dialog instance what are the post installation activities?
How we should integrate the livecache server with the Dialog instance which is installed on different hardware.
We need to know how livecache server understand that the additonal application server ? Is there anything to do in LC10?
Please reply
ThanksHi Ashley,
Thanks for your time.
Since i am installing app server, the SAP<SID> group will have to be online on this node. There is another group containing shared drives for components for livecache. This is also required to be online on node 2 for app server installation.
The only cluster resource I can move back to node 1 is ORACLE<SID>. Tried doing that, but no luck.
Any one here facing similar issue during SCM dialog instance installation in MSCS environment?
Regards,
Kiran -
Hello all,
The restart of LiveCache is works fine, but I checked the LCTRC#init.log file and I saw the following error:

MaxDB and LiveCache installation
Hello All,
Tying to install LiveCache 7.7 part SCM 5.1 = SCM 2007
I am trying to install liveCache on SuSE 10(Linux) with MaxDB. I would like to know that if I need to install MaxDB before I install the Livecache server using sapinst? Please advice!
I thought sapinst should ask for MaxDB file during the sapinst process? I started the with sapinst without installing MaxDB and now I am on the steps (Intance parameters) --> I checked Volume Medium type as Raw Devices --> Clicked on Next, I entered /sapdb as raw devices according to SAP Inst manual I click on NEXT and I got this error message: Selected item is not a valid Raw Device: /sapdb. SOLUTION: Select a valid raw device?
Please someone tell me what is exactly valid RAW Device?
Thanks in Advance
KumarHello Kumar,
-> Please run /nLC10 -> set LCA -> click on Integration
=> You will get the screen where you could see the User Data settings.
You have to set the DBM user & Standard liveCache user <LCUSER> with the passwords
correctly. To run the liveCache application you have to connect first from the application
as the LCUSER.
-> Please logon to the liveCache server as user in the 'sdba' group & run :
dbmcli -d <LC-name> -u control,<pwd>
<enter>
dbmcli on <LC-name>>db_state
< if the liveCache is offline =>next step, skip it if it's already 'online' >
dbmcli on <LC-name>>db_online
dbmcli on <LC-name>>sql_connect superdba,admin
dbmcli on <LC-name>>sql_execute select * from users
dbmcli on <LC-name>>sql_release
dbmcli on <LC-name>>exit
-> Please follow up the liveCache installation guide. If the liveCache was installed, there are also post installation steps.
-> For SAP liveCache documentation in English < See the SAP note 767598 >:

Problems with liveCache in APO
Hi experts,
I have an issue with regards to liveCache in APO and I hope someone can help me.
Whenever I try to create a Planning Version within a Model (via transaction /SAPAPO/MVM) the following
error message is provided: "General error in model / version management planning".
Through some research I found a document that makes the following recommendation: "Sometimes when you work in a multi-client system, you maybe encounter the following error message: "General error in model/planning version management". This error is due to the fact that in LiveCache the planning version already exists but it cannot be found on database. As a remedy, you have to remove this inconsistency by using the transaction /SAPAPO/OM17. For detailed information, please refer to SAP Note 519014."
Then, as recommended, I tried to execute the transaction /SAPAPO/OM17. But when I tried to execute this transaction another error message was released: "Connection to liveCache failed. Message no. /SAPAPO/OM000".
Moreover, the result of the transaction /SAPAPO/OM13 ( Analyze liveCache and LCA Objects ) shows the following errors and warnings:
Item
Check
Connection to LCA
with errors
liveCache Stat. from LCA - ???
with errors
liveCache Initialization - 001

Old simulation versions
with warnings
/sapapo/om_reorg_daily - 001
with errors
/sapapo/om_delete_old_simsess
with errors
/sapapo/om_lcaalerts

Number of LC Sessions - 0

Thanks in advance for help.
Greetings,
Francisco Fonseca.Hi sai balakavi,
initially, thanks for the fast help.
As suggested, the issue was escalated to the BASIS team and the procedure chosen was as follows:
Shutdown SAP APO and liveCache (ECC + SE6) services
Shutdown DB Oracle (ORCL + ECC + APO + SE6) services
Logs verification
Restart server
Restart SAP APO and liveCache (ECC) services
Restart DB Oracle (ORCL + ECC + APO + SE6) services
However, the previous problems still persist. So, in order to get more information about the problem, I exported a full report (at the end of this message) on the result of the transaction /SAPAPO/OM13 ( Analyze liveCache and LCA Objects ).
Is there any other action to be taken in addition to shutdown and restart of liveCache services?
Thanks in advance for help.
Greetings,
Francisco Fonseca.

Hello.
I install SCM 5.0 IDES with LiveCache on Windows Server x64.
After this I run MaxDB->Installation Master (SDBSETUP.EXE). I choose Start Installation/Upgrade. But Me have not asked type database anywhere
Me need livecache type of database instance...
In documentation I read about DBMGUI to create the database instance... But I don have it. Where me get it? Or what else to do ?Hello Igor Tolkachev ,
-> You are running install SCM 5.0 IDES with LiveCache on Windows Server x64.
=> You are SAP customer
As SAP customer you have the option to create the OSS ticket, therefore we could
logon to your system via OSS and take a look closer on the reported issue.
Please create the ticket to the component 'BC-DB-LVC'.
Or did you already report this problem in OSS ticket? What number?
-> Concerning the liveCache installation. Please follow the liveCache installation guide &
you need the liveCache CD. What CD did you use?
To find the liveCache installation guide please go at SAP links ::
service.sap.com/liveCache -> Release-Dependent:: SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0
-> "Installation Guide - SAP liveCache Technology 7.6.0 "
OR
service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Business Suite Applications -> SAP SCM
-> SAP SCM Server -> Using SAP SCM 5.0 Server ->
"Installation - SAP liveCache Technology on Win- SCM 5.0 SR3 "
->"I see this:
"-24700,ERR_DBMSRV_NOSTART: Could not start DBM server.
-24832,ERR_SHMNOTAVAILABLE: Shared memory not available
-24807,ERR_SHMVERSIONMISMATCH: Cannot work with shared memory version 2 (expected 1)
It's good to know what was done during the liveCache installation & what version of the liveCache you
Installed. Please update with the output of the following commands ::
dbmcli inst_enum
dbmcli db_enum
sdbregview -l
xinstinfo <LC-SID>
Please post the "dbmsrv_<servername>.prt' file located in <IndepDataPath>/wrk on the liveCache server.
A) Check that there are no dbmsrv/dbmrfc processes on the server.
<InstallationPath>, <IndepData> you will see, when you will run ::
xinstinfo <liveCache SID>
- remove the shared memory used from the dbmsrv/dbmrfc procsses using
the command ::
<InstallationPath>/pgm/dbmshm DELETE <IndepData> <liveCache SID>
Then try to logon to the dbmserver using command, I assumed that the control is DBM
liveCache user:
dbmcli d <liveCache SID> -u control,<pwd> db_state
B) If A) did not help, could you please try the following:
Check that there are no dbmsrv/dbmrfc processes on the server.
Rename the files <IndepData>/wrk/<liveCache SID>.dbm.shi and <IndepData>/wrk/<liveCache SID>.dbm.shm on the liveCache server, the DBM Server Shared Memory.
Try to logon to the dbmserver after that:
dbmcli d <liveCache SID> -u control,<pwd> db_state
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
