LiveCycle/Acrobat Application Error

Hi,
Just installed Acrobat 8 Pro with LiveCycle Designer 8.0
version 8.05.2073.1.374024
I've constructed a simple one-page form. It has some text fields, some check boxes, one drop-down list, and three Date/Time fields.
When I go to the Preview PDF tab, everything goes fine until I try either the Drop-down List or one of the Date/Time fields. Then, I get a Windows error message:
Adobe Acrobat: Acrobat.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x2981d30b" referenced memory at "0x00008006". The memory could not be read.
Interestingly, if I publish the form and open it in Acrobat, and then try to set the Reader rights so that users can save the filled-in form, I get the same crash and error message.
Background:
OS: Windows XP Pro
The installer file I downloaded from the Adobe LWS site would not run. Our corporate IT provided an installer that did.
Conclusion: Help? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dave, I have a similar problem and cannot find a solution. I have noticed nobody seems to want to answer this issue, althoiugh it's in many forums.
Have you found a solution? Do you care to share?
One of the errors was related to my Office XP shared service (the user input text and speech extensions). I have turned that off.
The specific messages are:
"FormDesigner.exe - Application Error", "The instruction at '0x00XXXXXX' referenced memory at '0x00XXXXXX'. The memory could not be 'read'. Click on OK to terminate the program Click on Cancel to debug the program."
"FormDesigner.exe - Application Error", "The exception unknown software exception (0xXXXXXXXX) occurred in the application at location 0xXXXXXXX. Click on OK to terminate the program Click on Cancel to debug the program."

  • Acrobat application error after 8.2.2 patch

I pushed out the Acrobat 8.2.2 patch this week to our users and have gotten a handful of people respond that they're getting an error when they're launching Acrobat afterwards.
    Background:
Workstations were running Acrobat 8.2.0 before the patch and all patched previously (from at least 8.1.6) without any issues. Adobe Reader is not installed on these systems.
Workstations are all running Windows XP SP3.
    Problem:
User gets a warning message when launching Acrobat that reads "A serious error has been detected and Adobe Acrobat 8.1.2 Professional cannot continue.  Please reinstall the application and try again."  When the click the OK button on that dialog they are then prompted with an Application Error dialog for Acrobat.exe "The instruction at '0x05bb1243' referenced memory at '0x03db9bec'. The memory could not be 'written'"
    Workaround:
A simple reboot resolves the issue sometimes, other times a repair is needed and others need to be reinstalled.
Anyone got any ideas why these errors are occurring and what I should be looking out for so that this doesn't repeat in the future?

Just noticed this post was a bit old......My version with the same issue was 8.2.6.
This seems to be a recurring issue if you seach the forums.
I was able to fix mine with a repair instead of an uninstall reinstall.
I accessed the repair option via the control panel ----->add/remove software----->adobe acrobat pro

  • Acrobat 8.1 Pro Error AcrobatInfo.exe - Application Error

Ever since updating to Acrobat Pro 8.1, I keep getting an error message.
Font Capture: AcrobatInfo.exe - Application Error
The Instruction at "0x03da593c". The memory could not be written.
The error pops up several minutes after closing Acrobat. I wonder if it is from a .pdf from across the network.
Doesn't cause a crash but it is getting annoying.

    Jeremy,
All I could find was the REG file that was included on that link's site. If you want to trust this, just copy the text between the ======== and save as a .REG file, then execute the file. I am taking no responsibility for this file or what it may (or may not) do to your computer. It is simply the REG file I got from that site. It's up to you whether you use it or not.
It's been so long now since I used Jochen's method that I can't remember for sure, but I believe I also tracked down the "AcrobatInfo.exe" file and deleted it (probably while in safe mode).

    Hi SUBRAMANIAN,
Are you still facing this issue? It seems to be conflict to me.
Are you using any third party plugins with Acrobat? Try disabling and to use it again.

  • Acrodist.exe application error

I installed Adobe Acrobat 7.0 successfully. But when I convert a word file into PDF file, a error message pop-up as " AcroDist.exe application error --- the instruction at "0x0048C9e5" referenced memory at "0x0190eb6c", The memory could not be "read" Click on OK to terminate the program "
If I click the program Acrobat Distiller, the same message box shows up.
I tried to uninstalled and re-installed. Couldn't solve the problem.
    need help.

This problem came up on my laptop today and I have found a solution, at least on mine. I was getting the exact same error as above (with different memory locations) when I tried to start Distiller (Acrobat 7.0). It had worked fine for years. On mine it was limited to my specific user account. I could run Distiller fine from the Administrator account. I also created a new standard user account to test with and it ran fine from that one as well. But it wouldn't run from my personal account. So I knew it was something with that specific account.
To make a long story short, it ended up being a corrupt cache. You can find the cache in the following location:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\Distiller 7\
What I did was just rename the old cache folder and let distiller recreate it. That fixed it. Good luck.

  • Application Error: "The memory could not be 'read'."

I am programming an application in C#.
I am using an Acrobat Reader control on my form to display PDFs within my program.
I have tried a couple of different configurations with the form control. I have drag-and-dropped the control prior to runtime. I have also tried to add the control dynamically.
When I run the program, then activate the control and close the form, I get the following error.
"sw:name.exe - Application Error; The instruction at "0x0700609c" referenced memory at "0x00000014". The memory could not be 'read'. Click on OK to terminate the program."
I have googled this error for hours now, and cannot find anything that truly explains this error and how to fix it.
    Thank you for any help.

To who may be interested, I managed to find a workaround for this bug in Adobe Reader 9.0.
It seems that, somehow, LabVIEW, and other programming tools, straggle with this version of Adobe (I assume that this is due to this bug) when closing the reference to Adobe created by the ActiveX container.  So the solution would be closing "by hand" this reference, and telling Windows to free all the relation between the application (LabVIEW for us) and Adobe.  The idea is that when we've done with the VI which displays the PDF via ActiveX, we should close the reference to the ActiveX control, close the reference to the VI, and:
      - process all the Windows messages currently in the message queue (.NET:  System.Windows.Form.Application -> DoEvents
      - run CoFreeUnusedLibraries in "ole32.dll"
I hope this information can help somebody, as I wasted too much time to figure this out (finding eventually the answer in a forum of Adobe!)
P.S. For those who program in C# as well, check this link; this was my source.

Try disabling Protected Mode.  But since you cannot even open Adobe Reader by itself, you can do it via the Windows registry: download, unzip, then run the registry script from https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/441a5fb2-7a82-443d-9632-9a639692a565

  • AR 9.X Crashing IE (6 and 7)  when opening PDF with sw:iexplore - Application Error

The majority of my systems are having a problem with Acrobat Reader 9.0 and 9.1.
When they click on a PDF from within IE the browser crashes with the following error:
    sw: iexplore.exe - Application Error
The instruction at '0x051251b6" referenced memory at '0x00000010". The memory could not be "read".
Running AR 8 causes no difficulty, however I have an organizational requirement to have addressed the in-the-wild vulnerability of AR by March 18th for 100% of my client systems. And Adobe is holding on to those versions until the 18th.
So I _have_ to install 9.1 on 300 systems in the next 36 hours.
If I take the check mark out of 'Display PDF in Browser' it works fine. The problem with this solution is that there are certain web sites and applications that departments here use which absolutely requires that the PDF be integrated within the browser - so taking Display PDF in Browser is not a universal solution.
I have tried the following key to no luck:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Reader 9.0\\Reader\\AcroRd32.exe\""
On a couple of machines opening up Reader and closing it first while having admin rights clears up the problem - but not for the majority of my systems.
I've tried repairs, reinstalls, full reloads and reboots to very little luck.
It's is for various PDF files from different sites, and it's the same ones that work for the small number of systems not experiencing a problem.
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    > Adobe is holding on to those versions until the 18th.
The 18th is tomorrow, so why not wait for it?

  • Right Click Convert - Application Error - Adobe Pro 9

    Hi all
I got following error when I try to convert a office document to pdf via the context menu:
    "Acrobat Elements.exe - Application Error"
The instruction at "0x616321dd" referenced memory at "0x00000001". The memory could not be "read".
This happens with Adobe Pro 9, and all Adobe Pro 9 patches.
Testet on ~ 15 different machines, freshly installed machines etc. Before that we had Adobe Pro 7 and there it worked without a problem, the problem just happens when we install Adobe Pro 9.
Does anyone have a solution for this or a hint?
    Cheers
    Patrick

    Hi kernwh,
I checked for the same but it only asks once for the file name.
Please upgrade Acrobat X to 10.1.12 and then check.

  • Receive an Application Error (The memory could not be "read") when opening

After I install Itunes the program works ok until I close it and try to reopen. When I do this I receive an Application Error that says:
The instruction at "0x6686f183" referenced memory at "0x0fccc094". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program
Click CANCEL to debug the program
Debugging does not work so the only solution is to uninstall Itunes and then reinstall. That again only works for one use of the program. As soon as I close it and re-open, I get the same error. Please HELP. I cannot waste any more time uninstalling and reinstalling.
