Livecycle can it be deployed in Oracle iPlanet Web Server

Hi,
Can we deploy livecycle in Oracle iPlanet Web Server ?
looking for an early reply
thanks
Nadeesha

As long as the application server that LCDS is deployed in is supported, it doesn't  matter which webserver is being used.

  • Getting Defunct processes while using Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.9 in Solaris 10

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.9 in our Solaris 10. \
Successfully Configured iPlanet web server using the manual and the application scripts are working fine with this iPlanet webserver.
Even if the application is working fine, the iPlanet webserver stop responding at a period of time and needs to be restart manually...
Found that lots of defunct processes(PPID of webservd) are created and these defuncts (zombies) leads to stop the services.
I am not good in iPlanet webserver configuration settings on the Solaris 10 OS.
Could anyone help me to fix this issue ?
    Thanks,
    Antony.

  • Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.9 Patch on Solaris 8 as upgrade from Sun One

We have an application that we are moving from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10, but the process for doing this is slow due to the complex nature of the architecture (Perl, J2EE on JRun, WLS, etc). This means that the application will have some instances on Solaris 8 and some on Solaris 10 for the next few months. We wish to try to bring the non-OS infrastructure up to the same versions of code to assist in this.
Now, I noticed in the release notes that Solaris 8 is no longer supported in 7.0.9 but was in 7.0.8. Is there anything inherent in this or was it just that no testing was done? I know that the official position of the "web tier" is that Solaris 8 is now "deprecated". I ask because it tells me if I can live with the risk of going to 7.0.9 on all environments - as the application code is more aware of this than its core OS - or whether I need to leave 7.0.8 on Solaris 8 and do 7.0.9 on Solaris 10. I'm not asking for support, but a question on whether there is a known issue or not.
    regards
    Colin

Thank you. I'll keep the Solaris 8 boxes on v7.0.8 then.
My main worry was not the code itself but the changes in installation, packaging, branding changes, default directories (e.g. /opt/oracle rather than /opt/sun), etc...... . If I am going to kill off Solaris 8 in a few months it isn't a big problem.

  • Oracle iPlanet Web Server - HTTP listeners based on hostnames

Regarding the HTTP listeners configuration I read:
IP Address — A Valid IPv4 or IPv6 address. “” implies that the HTTP Listener will listen to all IP addressed for the configured port.*
    (no mention to hostnames)
I have tested that it is also possible to specify a NAME in the IP Address field and the effect is the same if I specify the explicit IP the name is associated.
Is it a supported but not documented feature ?
In other words can I use this feature for my deployment ?

It seems like I was wrong, you can not use hostname in <ip> element. Code doesn't try to convert hostname to <ip> address.
When you said that it worked for you, can you show the output of "netstat -an | grep <listen_port>".

    Ok, found the problem:
Do not use this "SSL_RENEGOTIATE_NEVER" as a value for the environment variable:
    NSS_SSL_ENABLE_RENEGOTIATION=SSL_RENEGOTIATE_NEVER;export NSS_SSL_ENABLE_RENEGOTIATION
    instead, use "0":
    NSS_SSL_ENABLE_RENEGOTIATION=0;export NSS_SSL_ENABLE_RENEGOTIATION
Add that line to your startserv script and it should disable ssl renegotiation permanently.

  • Oracle Java Web Server 6.1 / 7.0 Reverse Proxy

    Hello everyone,
I have just installed both Sun Java Web Server versions 6.1 and 7.0 on Windows x86, trying to configure the Reverse Proxy Plugin, but none of the installations came with the libpassthrough.dll file mentioned in several documentations.
I have searched both Google and Oracle websites but links on Google point to the former sun.com website and Oracle gives nothing :(
update: I've installed Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.15 and got only digest, fastcgi, htaccess and loadbal in the plugins folder, no libpassthrough :( Help!
Does anybody know where can i get the Reverse Proxy Plugin for Windows ?
    Thank you very much,
    Daniel.
    Edited by: user2579623 on 07/08/2012 13:19

In 6.1, the libpassthrough library comes in a separate download, usually with the application server, ie glassfish. In 7.x it is build in so there is no separate library to add, the functionality is just there and can even be configured from the web admin interface. Just use web server 7 and have a look at the admin console.

  • IPlanet Web Server 6.0 SP1 bug new details

I have found more details regarding the iPlanet Web Server 6.0 SP1 web.xml
    parsing errors:
It appears that in web.xml now the sequence of declaration of the elements
    plays role!!!!
If I put <servlet-mapping> tag in the beginning, after that I cannot declare
    any other <servlet> tag in
web.xml, but if I change the sequence, that is put the <servlet> tags and
    than only one <servlet-mapping> tag
at the end than the parser works fine and the server runs.
This is more than strange behavior, because the declaration of the elements
should not be dependent on their sequence of declaration!!!.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear All,
I want to finalize this problem.
This behavior is actually quite normal and follows from DTD declared at
    http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd
That is the element <servlet> is listed prior to the element
    <servlet-mapping>, so as we
know from DTD syntax, when elements are separated by commas in declaration,
    their order is
    essential.
So basically what happened, in iPlanet Web Server 6.0 SP1 the DTD
(http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd) has changed, so that is why
the old web.xml files, where the order of elements was different, became
invalid according to the new DTD, this is all the problem.
    Thank you.

I could find out that web.xml parsing (SAX) error occurs only if
    <servlet-mapping> tag precedes any <servlet>
tag in Web deployment descriptor of iPlanet Web Server 6.0 SP1.
That is if I group all <servlet> tags in the beginning and then at the
bottom I group all the <servlet-mapping> tags,
the SAX parser works fine and the server starts.
In my previous messages I stated that we can have only one<servlet-mapping>
tag, this is not true, the problem was in a position of the tag's
    declaration.

  • Where to download Iplanet web server?

I am looking for a download link to Sun Java System Web server (Oracle iPlanet Web server). Someone here knows the link? It has been a day and the closest link that I can get is just http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/iplanetwebserver-098726.html. However, it leads me somewhere else.
    Thanks

Can you be more specific? I can only find Sun versin 7.0.8.
This web site is really, really horrible. The links for iplanet download take you to jdeveloper or, they're completely broken.
    thanks

  • Can iDSIE (Meta-directory) be used as a single authentication point from iPlanet Web Server for multiple databases using direct "or" indirect connectors?

Basically, the latest release of iPlanet Web Server forces the user/group information source to be an LDAP database. Currently, the user accounts are in Active Directory, NT, Oracle and NetWare Directory Service in this heterogeneous environment.
What I am looking for is a meta-directory product which can do two things:
1-Single authentiation point for users in mulitple databases from iPlanet Web Server.
2-Single administration point for all of the databases listed above.
For example, can I add/modify/delete a user account at the meta-directory level and have this propagate to all of the databases listed above reducing the administration to one meta-directory product?

With an Virtual Directory solution, you can authenticate Iplanet Web Server against nearly anything including any LDAPv3 Directory Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows NT Domains, Oracle RDBMS, IBM DB2 RDBMS, Microsoft SQL, and others.
All of this is done dynamically and doesn't require any heavyweight synchronization process. The Virtual Directory acts as a dynamic schema / DIT / data translation engine for different types of repositories.
OctetString's Virtual Directory Engine is one such example. You can download a 30 day evaluation copy at:
    http://www.octetstring.com
It will take you all of 30 minutes to get iPlanet Web Server authenticated against and using groups from things like Oracle RDBMS, Windows NT Domains, or Active Directory.

  • Migrate certificate 3.x to Oracle iPlanet Web Proxy Server 4.0.20

    Hi
I try to migrate from Sun iPlanet Web Proxy Server(SPWPS) 3.6 to Oracle iPlanet Web Proxy Server(OPWPS) 4.0.20 and I have some problem.
I have an instance in SPWPS-3.6 with SSL certificate, when I migrate it to OPWPS-4.0.20 using the admin interface, the certificate
is not migrate with this error message :
    Migrating Keys and Certificates...
[Error] The password entered for the key is not valid
    Assimilation failed.
But I am sure to enter the right password.
After that I manage the new instance in administration interface, and in Security Panel, there is a choice to "Migrate 3.x certificate"
I try this, but I get this error message
    Incorrect Usage
The password entered is not valide
Can somebody help me to resolve this problem ?
    Thanks in advance.

Your proxy instance should start. The error you are seeing should only be for the admin server. Add the location of where your jvm.so is located to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. The jvm.so is located under the JDK directory.

  • Help me Deploy WAR file in SUN iPlanet Web Server 6.1 SP7 using JDK1.6 & JS

    Hi All,
Can any one help me on this.
    I'm using
    JDK1.6
    JSF1.2
    JSTL1.1
    Hibernate3.2.5
    ANT1.7
    JUnit
    HTML
    Oracle10g
Trying to deploy this war file in SUN iPlanet Web Server 6.1 SP7. Can I use JDK1.6 & JSF1.2 in web server6.1

What is the exact version of Web Server you are using? Should be in the error logs or try $start -version
It would be faster if you can capture and cut and paste the data that is sent between firefox and Web Server in both the cases using /usr/sfw/bin/ssltap (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/tools/ssltap.html) or ethereal when you try to view that shtml file. We can see if its any different in both cases and try it from there.
Also verify the steps given in http://docs.sun.com/source/817-1832-10/pgshtml.html
    mime.types should have :
    type=magnus-internal/parsed-html exts=shtml
    obj.conf should have :
    Service fn="shtml_send" type="magnus-internal/parsed-html" method="(GET|HEAD)"
When you activate parsing, magnus.conf should have :
    Init funcs="shtml_init,shtml_send" shlib="install_dir/bin/https/bin/Shtml.dll" NativeThreads="no" fn="load-modules"
Shtml.dll (or libShtml.so on UNIX), is located in install_dir/bin/https/bin for Windows, and install_dir/bin/https/lib for UNIX.
