LiveCycle Designer 7 and Rights-Enabled PDFs

I'm trying to find out more about how to create and save a fillable PDF with the rights-enabled so the user can save and send the PDF instead of senting the ugly data file.
I'm confused because the info I find says to be able to do this you need LiveCycle, and I have Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7, so what am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

You need Acrobat 8 Professional.

  • Rights enabled PDF From and XML Data Collection

    Hello,
Requirements is something in this line..Convert 3 page word doc- with name field, date field and few radio buttons to PDF.These would be send then send back via email, for further processing.Interested in the actual data rather than the PDF form.
I have used Adobe LiveCycle designer to create rights enabled PDF with name fields, drop down ,radio buttons and Submit by email button.Only reason i have it rights enabled is so that user can save the partially filled document locally and at later time fill it completely and send via desktop email client. The end users would have latest reader installed and outlook email client.
I assume, When the user selects the send button, an email message starts with attachment of  XML extension and can send it.On my end  I could user XML parser and read the data.I dont need the actual PDF.
Would collecting the data, in this manner , still fall under  500 use licensing limit on PDF's that have Reader Extensions enabled.
There is no comments or digital signatures involved or collected.Just the data,in form of XML and not the actual PDF.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the confirmations on my previous questions. On the signature thing....
Upon opening a XML file created by submit button, it does have signature parent tages with <signatureinfo/>,<key value/> ,<signrature propeties/> etc.
Would it be same as one filled and signed by end user ,if i import the XML file to blank template at my end.

  • Saving A Dynamic Rights Enabled PDF as a Static PDF

I'm searching for a solution to saving a dynamic rights enabled PDF order form as a state image once the user has completed the order form.
I can do so via the Print Form button if I have an Adobe PDF print driver in my print list. But, if no print driver is available for Reader 9 users to download and add to their print list, the only option seems to be "File > Save As" and that will render a PDF file that is still dynamically active.
The client wants the file to lock information before they submit it. They want to avoid a situation where someone could tamper with order information after the fact. Any suggestions on how I go about making this happen quickly?
I have to launch a set of forms next week. Your assistance is very much appreciated!

There's another post dealing with this that may be helpful, I've posted a link for you below.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

I recently purchased Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, it came with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES.  When I create a new document with Acrobat 9, it takes me right into LiveCycle for the design, which I do not mind.  However, the properties for each field are very limited in comparaison with Acrobat 9.  So, the file I create with LiveCycle I want to be able to open again with Acrobat 9 and reach the field properties with Acrobat 9, but the system does not allow me to do that.  What am I doing wrong?

To force uppercase, enter the following in the change event as JavaScript (make sure JavaScipt is selected in the language dropdown list at the top right):
    xfa.event.change = xfa.event.change.toUpperCase();
As you can see in the picture, there are many palettes available on the right side to edit fields. Hope this helps.

  • Can i use Response method in livecycle designer to render or open pdf doc?

    Hello,
Can anybody please tell me is it possible to use response method available in the adobe livecycle designer which takes the input value to open the pdf doc.
Case 1: if we send adobe form throgh mail as pdf doc, then at the receiver side if the user open the pdf doc a popup should come asking for the input value. This popup will be from the response method.
Case 2:if we save the adobe form as pdf doc on to our desktop and then if we try to open the pdf doc a popup should come asking for input value.
Is it possible to do ?
If yes then in which event of livecycle designer we should write that response method and in what way?
If no,is there any other way to do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Menaka

Yes i have tried in other events of livecycle designer.
In Formready event -> if i do preview pdf, first it will display form and then it ll ask for password. But with this event only if i save the pdf to my local desktop and try to open it ll not ask for password anywhere.
In Layoutready event ->Pdf preview in designer is working fine, but when i save it my local desktop and try to open it ll not ask for passward.
Could anybody tell me how to do it.

  • LiveCycle Designer reports errors while opening pdf

    Hello,
I'm testing LiveCycle Designer on a 6 pages form.
I created the form todat and everything works perfectly.
After my last save LiveCycle Designer cannot open the file (it suddenly crashes) but if I try to open the file in Adobe Reader the file works correctly.
What can I do to understand what's happening?
Is there a tool to check pdf error for LiveCycle Designer?
Now I need to modify the form but I cannot open it anymore.
    Thank you for help.
    Marco

There are some settings written to your user directory that could be corrupted. I assume that you have installed on
the c drive. Can you go into this location and delete the files there ...then try again:
    C:\Documents and Settings\logged in username\Application Data\Adobe\Designer\8.2
When you launch Designer again those files will be recreated.

  • Where do I find "Rights", to create a "Rights Enabled" PDF?

My form has the following message when opened in Reader, "Please fill out the following form.  You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records."
I want to find the rights in Acrobat so that I can set my form to allow users to save data that they enter in my fields.  I only have the basic Acrobat X.  I don't have Live Cycle or any of that since I only work on a few PDFs per month.
    Thanks, Paul.

In Acrobat 9 and Newer the author of a form can enable the Save As button for the viewer of the form. This is done under Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader (or when you Distribute a form). In Acrobat X this can be found under File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features...
If you only have Adobe Reader, you can not enable these features. You need Acrobat Standard or Professional.

  • Using Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES and secure parts of form using signatures.

    Hi to all ...
I have upgraded to new LiveCycle Desinger 8.1 few days ago, and still do not know all the new features.
I was requested to develop new LiveCycle Form, but this time it has to be secured by Digital Signatures or what every appropriate method.
The form has exactly 2 sections and 2 Digital Signatures:
    1. The first section/part is to be filled by the Staff (let us call him the Authoring Staff).
Any one can fill the first part.
After the first part is signed, the Data Entry on the first part should be locked, and no one on Earth should be able to change the data on the first part. Only the signer of the first part is allowed to update/clear the signature but only and only of the Second part is not yet signed.
The staff should not be allowed to sign the form unless all mandatory fields and other validation logic is statisfied.
Only the Signer of the Form and special authorized staff/group of staff will be allowed to open the form. Let us call them Group01.
    2. The second section/part is to be filled by special authorized staff/group (say Group02), they are basicall HR Staff (this is a secret).
The second part can only be filled if the first part is filled and signed by the Authoring Staff.
The second part can be signed only if the validation logic on the second part is true (no errors, and all mandatory fields are filled).
Once the second part is signed, the first part the the second part should be locked, and no one on earth should be able to change anything on the form.
Only the signer of the form should be able to clear the signature of the 2nd part and make any changes requried.
If the 2nd part is signed, the Authoring Staff should not be able to change anything on the form.
    *****End of Requirements.*****
I have just started, and I am requested to desing the form and implement the required security in 10 days only.
Can any one please help me ?
I am doing my research now.
    Thank you.
    Tarek.

    Dear Dfoto,
Thank you so much for being so kind to spend the effort and reply back, I though my question was left behind the sun... but now I am very happy in deed.
To be more specific, the Form has 2 parts. The first part "Subform1" any one can fill and sign.
The second part "Subform2", only certain users can fill and sign.
I think I found a very strong lead to my solution, when I was playing with LiveCycle Desinger few days ago.
On the Singature Field Advanced Setting, there is a place you can attach the public part of a certificate (Digital Signature) of any user, one or more.
In this part, you tell LC that only those users "signing parties" can sign the field. I tested it and it worked.
Now, if I can use this feature via JavaScript to find out if the user who is filling the form, can sign this field, then he can fill the form. If he cannot sign the field, then he cannot fill the form. I can do that by setting the "access" property of the Subform. Another solution is that I can prevent the user from hitting the "Submit" button unless he signes the designated Signature Field.
    I have another small issue:
I found out that if the Signature field is part of a repeating dynamic Subform, it will not work during run-time. Very bad in deed. While I cannot understand why ?, I tool this as "By Desing" feature.
Now, if the Signature is locking parts of forms which has dynamic content (repeating subforms), it will always show somthing like "Signature is corrupted or form was changed after it was signed".
Is this normal ? Is there a way to control Dynamic Forms using Digital Signatures without such annoying issues ?
    Thank you.

  • Keyboard short-cuts and comment-enabled PDF's

I'm running AR7.0.9 under SuSE 10.1 and I have the following problem when working with a comment-enabled document, such as the JavaScript reference manual. Once I've used the highlighting tool, whose keyboard short-cut is U, I find that I can no longer enter the letter U when composing a note. Similarly, once I've added an attachment, whose keyboard short-cut is J,
I can no longer enter J into a note. Is this a known problem?
Or is there something wrong with my setup?

  • PDF Templates: using forms designed in LiveCycle Designer

    Greetings,
I’m creating templates using Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2 and using Adobe Acrobat X. When I upload the PDF templates I’ve created to BI Publisher, I hit a brick wall. The reports spit back *“FormProcessor internal error.”* when I click on View, then click through the "Error: contact an administrator" box. When I choose Export... I get a broken PDF file that doesn't seem to have any content.
When I go to Layouts and click Map Form Fields for any of these layouts, I end up with a blank-looking screen. It says "Map PDF Form Fields" at the top, but there's just a gray box below it, where you should see the PDF form.
    It should look like this

(right by “Adding a Predefined PDF Form as a Template”)
    I'm using BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.0
Any help is appreciated! The "FormProcessor internal error" is so vague that I'm not sure where to look for help. I can generate reports using RTF templates with no problems. LiveCycle Designer seems perfect for the task at hand, so I'm really hoping I can get this working.
    Thanks,

  • Can I combine a form created in Livecycle Designer with a standard pdf to create a new document?

I have a fillable form that I created with Livecycle Designer along with two standard pdf files.  When I try to combine in Acrobat Pro 10 it identifies the form with XML data and will not allow me to complete the process.  Thanks in advance for any help with this.

No you cannot... this is one of the things my organization struggles with.  I love livecycle becuase of its dynamic form capabilities, but we have so many other pre-built pdfs in adobe pro that can not be merged with these forms.  It is truly frustrating!!!  wish i had a better answer for you.  Also from the book 'Creating Dynamic Forms with Adobe LiveCycle Designer' page 6... "The PDF files that Designer creates are structurally different than other PDF files...... LiveCycle Designer can edit a PDF form created in Acrobat, but Acrobat can not edit a PDF form created in Designer."  Likewise... XML pdfs do not merge with other pdfs. JoBeth

  • No Preview PDF tab in LiveCycle Designer

I have both LiveCycle Designer ES3 and Adobe Pro 11 installed on my computer. I am unable to select the Preview PDF option from the View menu item and there is no Preview PDF tab next to the Design View tab like there used to be. I can't recall what could have happened, but I know I had it before.
All I can find when I search on this issue is that I must have both LiveCycle and Adobe Pro or Adobe Reader installed. Like I said, I have Adobe Pro, so that isn't the issue.
    Can anyone help?
    thanks.
    Amy

Thanks. I tried that and it did not work. Ultimately I fixed it by uninstalling Reader and installing the latest version.

  • Creating PDF forms in LiveCycle Designer 8.0

    I post detail at Software
    nha khoa Group
Question on a quirk I have noticed when creating a form using LiveCycle Designer 8 and was wondering if there was a way to change this.
I will use a Text Field for an area where I want the person who will fill out the form to add comments/questions. I widen the box out so the user will have area to type their comments in.
In the properties of for that Text Field, on the "Object" tab I check the box to allow multiple lines and I limit the length to the visible area.
That all works fine. The quirk is when I test the form and then click in that area to type for the text field the cursor always starts in the middle of that Text Field area. Is there a way to get the cursor to start at the top of the text box when someone fills out the form?

Post your question in the LiveCycle Designer forum.

  • Editing Form Fields inside Acrobat? (after using LiveCycle Designer)

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended ==  Acrobat
LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 == LiveCycle Designer
    =========================================
Say I downloaded a new PDF from the interwebs.
I want to add some forms fields so I go to Forms ==> Add or Edit Fields... (inside Acrobat)
Now Acrobat will detect possible places where to add the form fields. I make changes etc. Then I am  satisfied with my form fields.
Now say I want to remove a particular object from the PDF, lets take an image as an example.
So I fire up  LiveCycle Designer; File ==> New ==> Import a PDF document ==>  Create an Interactive Form with a Flowable Layout.
I remove that pesky little object.
In LiveCycle Designer, I save the file as PDF.
I open up Acrobat. I realize I need to make some more changes to some of the Form  Fields.
But now instead of "Add or Edit Fields..." option I get "Edit Form in  Designer..."
I hate the GUI of LiveCycle Designer --- I had rather edit the form  fields from inside Acrobat, as it is easy and fast to change multiple  form fields in a few clicks.

Thank you Niall for the above response; Your response gave me an idea which allowed me to remove that line by zooming in to 200%
You know Acrobat detects Form Fields for you.
But many times it makes mistakes, for example in the screenshot below it made the boxes that came with the PDF as text fields instead of check boxes.
The thing is rather than me delete the (form) fields it detected, and start over by making new check boxes, I will not be able to place my new check box in exact locations as Acrobat has done.
When I imported the fields that Acrobat made into LC (by saving the PDF in Acrobat and then opening it with LC) I get option to change the Object Type from Text Field to Check Box when I right click the object.
Is there a similar way to change the Object Type from Text Field to Check Box inside Acrobat? Any suggestions?
    ===========
I would really like to do it inside Acrobat because then if I have to make some minor changes to some field properties, all my hard work which I did by filling the fields gets deleted, as I am forced to use LC. The text I add to the fields don't get deleted when I edit the field properties inside Acrobat. I don't know why LC decides to delete all the text which is filled out in the form fields even though the PDF is saved in Acrobat before being imported into LC?
Here is the above PDF file with the text boxes:

Again thanks for all your guidance so far.
