LiveCycle Designer 8.0 preview pdf issue

Is anyone having a problem when creating a form, then using the preview pdf to check the layout? Everything is showing up, but you can't do anything, such as filling in fields,drop down the lists, check radio buttons, etc. If I save the file, then open it up in reader, everything works as it should.
Mark

Hello Mark,
It sounds like the PDF is rendered as a non-interactive form.
1. Go to File | Form Properties.
2. Click on the Defaults tab (could be Preview tab if using newer version of Designer).
3. Set the Preview Type to Interactive Form.
Does this resolve your problem?

  • Display issue with LiveCycle Designer ES4 for cropped PDF in WIN7

    Hi,
    I am having issue displaying the cropped PDF file in the LiveCycle Designer ES4. The PDF files are cropped 3 inches from bottom using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. It used to display properly when we have a WinXP machine but once we moved to a Win7 machine, it cannot display the top part of the PDF anymore. Can anyone help on how to fix the display issue? Thanks.

    Environment:
    Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES4 V11.0.0.2013.0303.1.892433
    Adobe Acrobat 8.0.0

    Win 7, LiveCycle Designer does not display properly
    Win XP, LiveCycle Designer used to display properly

    Thanks vNohria.
    I am having same issue with Adobe Acrobat 9. The Acrobat 9 cropped file is displaying properly under WinXP but have the same issue as above in Win7. This issue seems uncommon as I tried to look for similar issue  and couldn't find any.
    P.S. It's only the Design View in Win7 that has the issue, I can still see the file fine with Preview PDF in both enviornment.

  • Can I combine a form created in Livecycle Designer with a standard pdf to create a new document?

    I have a fillable form that I created with Livecycle Designer along with two standard pdf files.  When I try to combine in Acrobat Pro 10 it identifies the form with XML data and will not allow me to complete the process.  Thanks in advance for any help with this.

    No you cannot... this is one of the things my organization struggles with.  I love livecycle becuase of its dynamic form capabilities, but we have so many other pre-built pdfs in adobe pro that can not be merged with these forms.  It is truly frustrating!!!  wish i had a better answer for you.  Also from the book 'Creating Dynamic Forms with Adobe LiveCycle Designer' page 6... "The PDF files that Designer creates are structurally different than other PDF files...... LiveCycle Designer can edit a PDF form created in Acrobat, but Acrobat can not edit a PDF form created in Designer."  Likewise... XML pdfs do not merge with other pdfs. JoBeth

  • Trial Version of LiveCycle Designer 7.1 Missing PDF Preview

    Following the HELP/Getting Started instructions to test 7.1, I notice that I do not have the "PDF Preview" tab next to the "Body Pages" tab. I never noticed this missing tab until the final steps of the exercise instruct me to use it. I would really like to continue in the tutorial, but until I get this figured out, I don't want to waste time if the product is faulty. (I was really getting into it...when my heart sank!) Can anyone help me?

    In addition, it is my understanding and experience (with version 6) that it must be installed
    b prior
    to installing LiveCycle Designer. If that requirement continues with version 7 that means that at this point you would have to uninstall LiveCycle Designer, install Acrobat or the latest Reader and then reinstall LiveCycle Designer.
    I suggest you save your work (forms, custom library elements, etc) before uninstalling so you can restore it after reinstalling.

  • LiveCycle Designer won't preview with Reader DC.  Preview mode will not work.  Attempting to preview gets errors (507:507), (103:103), and sometimes crashes LiveCycle Designer.  How do i get preview mode?

    I can not get LiveCycle's preview mode to work.  It has worked in the past, but now with Reader DC i can't use preview mode.  How do i get Adobe LiveCycle designer to work with Reader DC?

    it seems the problem is caused directly by adobe reader X.
    I just have started a new descussion here (adobe reader forum).
    If anyone could help me, feel free to do so!
    my configuration:
    windows xp pro
    adobe reader x
    adobe livecycle designer 9 ( therefore it is not an version 8 issue )
    admin rights on the pc ; )
    I might add that you are not alone!
    I am having the same problem (LSD ES2 (version 9.0.0....) and Adobe Reader X and Acrobat Professional 8)
    Whenever I save a form as PDF and open it with Reader or Acrobat I get to see the console.
    But never when I view the form in Designer preview!
    That used to work until I installed Reader X.
    Same as you I checked all configurations in Reader and Acrobat: all perfect.
    I really do hope that someone finds a solution for this.
    PS. This problem should be discussed in THIS forum. It is clearly a Designer problem!

  • LiveCycle Designer 8.0 - Image Field Issue

    I am using LiveCycle Designer 8. Ive inserted an image field and when I test it, the image doesnt scale proportionally even though the properties are set up correctly (Scale image proportionally). I understand that in order to get this to work, the files needs to be saved as a dynamic PDF, but I don't have an option of saving as a dynamic PDF. The only "Save as" type options I have are Adobe 7 (Static) PDF Form and Adobe 8 (Static) PDF Form. I also don't have an option of saving as a "dynamic" PDF in the Acrobat Save As window.
    Is there a way to work around this or am I doing something wrong. The file was designed in InDesign, exported to a PDF and then brought into LiveCycle to insert text fields and an image field for a user to input their contact info and their logo. The 5 text fields work perfectly and the one image field works EXCEPT for scaling proportionally even though the properties for that field are set correctly.
    I appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

    Did you import the file using "Create an Interactive Form with Fixed Pages" as your selection on the Import dialog? If so, this brings in the original InDesign PDF as "artwork" (a background layer) on which your form fields are placed. This document can't be dynamic. That might be the issue.

  • LiveCycle Designer 8.0 - Submitting .pdf via E-mail

    Hi all,
    I've been working on this form for months now. I know this topic has been started a thousand times already, but after weeks of experimenting with the javascript functions I am losing my patience.
    My form needs a "Submit" button that does the following:
    1. Attachs the entire .pdf to an e-mail
    2. Pulls data from two form fields and places it into the subject line
    The code is attached to a regular submit button:
    ----- form1.#subform[0].Button1::click: - (JavaScript, client) -------------------------------------
    //Create a variable to hold the document object
    var oDoc = event.target;
    oDoc.mailDoc({
    bUI: true,
    cTo: "[email protected]",
    cCC: "[email protected]",
    cSubject: cSubject: " " + StudentLastName.rawValue + " " + EmployeeID.rawValue + ". Student Action Request Form."});
    The button does not open an e-mail client in Reader 9, Professional 8, or in the Livecycle Preview.
    Thanks,
    csteward

    Hi,
    This is what we are using:
    var vEmail = toEmail.rawValue;
    var vSubject = subjectLine.rawValue;
    var vBody =  messageLine.rawValue;
    if (vEmail != null && vSubject != null && vBody != null)
         event.target.app.mailMsg({
         bUI: true,
         cTo: vEmail,
         cSubject: vSubject,
         cMsg: vBody
    else
         app.alert("Please provide information above before sending email!");

  • Livecycle design 8 Help with PDF forms

    I am new to Livecycle 8. I have created a simple PDF form in Livecycle 8 which was orignally an excel form. I set it up with a submit button to submit by email to a designated person. The form is housed on an internal web site for viewers with adobe reader to open and fill out and then submit by email. The goal is for the designated receiver to receive the the same PDF form with the information filled out by the previous viewer. I was successful with the form being emailed to the designated person as long as the peson submitting the form was using adobe professional. If the viewer only has adobe reader, the form would not submit to the designated receiver. Please help?

    Reader does not allow a local save of the form and data by default. To be able to add the attachment o an email message a local save must occur. You can Reader Extend your form to allow for this. Open th eform in Acrobat Pro. Under the Advanced menu choose the "Extend Features in Adobe Reader". Follow the wizard and save the result PDF as a different name ....I like to put RE in the name so I know it is Reader Extended. Try the new file.

  • Livecycle designer form accessibility in PDF

    HI!
    I have created a form in LiveCycle.  When it opens in PDF and I run the accessiblitiy checker it says that the language is not defined for the form?  How do I define it.
    Also In PDF there is a Keywords section that I can't figure out how to populate in Livecycle so if filters over to PDF.  Any help is greatly appreciated!
    jodi

    Hi,
    I am not sure about the language specification. I could only run an accessibility check on a static PDF form. Like you, it could not determine the language specification for the text objects. I would have expected the Form Locale to have set this, but it seems not to be the case:
    In relation to the Keywords, you can add these to a form in Designer. However you have to do this manually in the XML Source tab:
    Add your keywords into the <rdf:Description> tag after <pdf:Producer>. Bound by a <pdf:Keywords> tag.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Preview pdf issue Snow Leopard 10.6.5

    Hi guys,
    I found a problem with the app "Preview" and pdfs. I open a pdf. I use the tool "mark up" and then select text to mark it up. Ok perfect. Then I save pdf CMD+S. I close file and close the app from the dock. Then I re-open the same pdf with Preview. I copy and paste the text: characters are broken! For example if the selected word is: "peace", when I copy and paste it the result is: rewrefsdf. Same result when I use the tool "annotate": it breaks characters!
    Here an example (screenshot): http://cl.ly/3FMr .
    Any idea?

    I would second that, 2GB is not enough to be running Ap.
    Also for speeding up the system try some of the following.
    Delete your Ap Preferences, I did yesterday for another reason and was blown away at the speed difference I gained without meaning to.
    Run some System Maintenance with Disk Utility and an application like Onyx
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/onyx.html
    Use the Aperture Library First Aid tools, this will fix any glitches in the library.

    Let us know if any of these steps helps.

  • LiveCycle Designer 7 : Saving the PDF form for the users ?

    Hi,
    When building a form, which will be filled by users, is there any way that the users can be offered the possibility to save their data within the PDF so that they can send the complete form by emails or through a other files exchange media (FTP, WEB, Flashdisk... )
    Although having the possibility to sent only the XML data via email (which is great and we would like to keep this option) we fear that some of our users, which are filling the form, might not feel confident with this and might want to sent their completed form too ?
    Thanks for your answer
    Eric B

    I was able to make this work for the first time yesterday. Assuming that you have Abobe Acrobat 8.0, once you have built the form...using adobe 8 go to the Advanced menu and select "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader". The first time that I did this, and then attached the form to a user of reader - they were not able to save the completed form. So - I went to 'Forms' on the menu and selected "distribute form". Then the user of adobe was able to saved that form and changes that they made.
    The distribute function wants you to email from there as a default. I had trouble because our default mail client is Novell. Still can't get that to work right. BUT - you can distribute the form and save it to your drive for distribution later. I then attached it to an email and sent it out to users.
    Be sure to walk your end user through - using save as and saving it to their computer. My folks are used to NOT being able to do that so they still said they couldn't save the completed form.
    Sorry if this explanation is very basic - but I am not at all a programmer! :) This is what worked for me. I spent hours on this site yesterday trying to work out the email piece and stumbled into this solution.
    Good luck!

  • Preview from LiveCycle Designer

    I was recently teaching a class on LiveCycle Designer, and the Preview tab was not available. If I opened the file from within Acrobat, then the Preview tab became available. But when I clicked it (from LCD), I got a error message and was taken back to Acrobat again. (I don't have access to that computer today, but I can check it on Monday.)
    Is there a preference setting somewhere that I'm missing? (I've had a similar problem before, but soon discovered that Acrobat was presenting a modal dialog at opening. Once we got past that, we were fine. No similar problem here.)
    Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    1. The highlighting of the fields that Acrobat does is affecting the visiblity of your underline. Turn off the highlighting.
    Paul, isn't this setting part of acrobat itself and not something one can "set" in the document?  Opening pdf forms on my computer does not show the fields to be highlighted.
    Which version of Designer did you use to create the form?
    It looks like the same version I had quoted above.
    I originally created a form that was based off of an existing PDF image.  I had just put the fields "on top of" the scanned image that the PDF contained.  The result was too ugly for me, so I copy and pasted all my fields over onto a new empty static form and created what I posted above.
    Looking at the original "ugly" form's XML it looks like the version of the software didn't change:
    <?xfa generator="AdobeLiveCycleDesignerES_V8.2.1.4029.1.523496" APIVersion="2.8.9029.0"?>
    Also, the "right" attribute exists in the original "ugle" PDF document that is dated 5/3/2009 if that helps any.
    I followed your instructions and removed "right" and that fixed the problem.  Looks like LiveCycle's XML parser needs an additional validation check!  I had wondered what that "right" thing was since when I was looking through all the settings I didn't see a corrisponding setting. I had just assumed that it was some internal setting I wasn't supposed to care about. Good catch!
    Thanks for your help Paul!

  • LiveCycle Designer 10 - PDF Vorschau deaktiviert

  • Duplex Printing options in Livecycle Designer ES

    Hi all,
    I am new to using Adobe Livecycle Designer ES 8.2.
    Issues 1:
    What are options available to print “Duplex Flip Long Edge” and “Duplex Flip Short Edge”.
    I have tried the following options
    File + Form Properties + PDF print options + “Selected Duplex Flip Short Edge. It has worked fine if I print from Designer itself to the particular printer.
    Through the program I have created XDP to PS file. It won’t print in “Duplex Short Edge option”.
    It has always printed in “Duplex Flip Long Edge”.
    Any one can help me… Thanks in advance….
    Regards,

    Hello all
    The problem is still actual. There are some ideas on this forum about solution for LiveCycle Desginer 6.x and 7.x via JavaScript and via settings (Form Properties->PDF print options). The both don't work in LiveCycle Designer 8.2. Is it a bug of 8.2 version?
    I have noticed that property <pagination> in XML source has always value duplexLongEdge. It doesn't depend on value you entered in Form Properties->PDF print options. May be it's a reason? However I cannot change this value to duplexShortEdge.
