LiveCycle Designer and Acrobat 9 Pro

I designed a form in LiveCycle Designer, save it as PDF file.  Try to open it in Acrobat 9 Pro for editing, but cannot.  Why?  I want to edit my fields with Acrobat 9 Pro.  What I am doing wrong?

Sorry but this is the wrong forum (this is for the Collaboration Services). You may want to try the LiveCycle Designer forum:

  • LiveCycle Designer 8/ Acrobat Pro 8-form data

    Not skilled in using the LiveCycle Designer included in Acrobat Pro 8, I have been struggling for a couple of weeks, trying to format a sample form and export data to a .csv file to read in Excel or notepad, once saved in .pdf and completed. I have the basics, but can't accomplish the more advanced. So far, I have used LiveCycle Deisgner to create a one page table form, with a header, 20 columns and 16 rows. The header cells are all text boxes labeling the columns below them. The rows have mostly text input cells/boxes, a few drop- down list boxes.
    I can complete, in .pdf, a couple of sample lines with made-up names, other data as a test. It will save, the using manage form data>merge data files into a spreadsheet, I can create a .csv and view it in Excel.
    Here's where the difficulty begins. I need the .csv to display every cell/box, even if blank, and in the correct row. The form data will be used by a genetics program's import module to import data and needs to be either a .txt or .csv tab, comma or other symbol (for example, @) delimited file, where blanks are represented by one extra delimiter (as a spacer) for each blank. The .csv data display is anything but that. The header runs across the first .csv row with names like :"form1[0].ID1[0]" while the only other row showing is all of the sample data from the .pdf's 2 completed sample data lines, all in one row, with some blank cells/boxes shown, and some not shown.
    Since eventually, once the form is "up and running," it can collect 50+ rows, I was hoping not to have to manually edit the .csv to get it into the acceptable format for the other program's import module.
    I am at a loss about how to set up the form in LiveCycle Designer so that the header row doesn't export to the .csv (I am unable to find the data binding controls for these text/header boxes to set them to "none."), the blank cells/boxes all register, rather than only some, and the row 1 data goes on the .csv's row 1 and the row 2 data to the .csv's row 2, etc., rather than an endlessly long single row.
    I've already searched forum's, plus the help files for LiveCycle Designer and Acrobat, with no success.
    Any ideas, solutions or places where I can check further would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Hi,
    With LC Designer you can develop a form which has data connections to databases and/or web services.
    The issues to consider are: what version of Acrobat will the user have; and if the user only has the Reader then how are you Reader Extending the form.
    User has the fulll version of Acrobat:
    user can open form;
    fill it in;
    print it;
    data connections to databases and web services will work;
    user can save the form.
    User has the Reader (form not Reader Enabled)
    user can open form;
    fill it in;
    print it;
    data connections to databases and web services will NOT work;
    user CANNOT save the form.
    User has the Reader (form Reader Enabled using the full version of Acrobat before deployment. See licence restrictions)
    user can open form;
    fill it in;
    print it;
    data connections to databases and web services will NOT work;
    user can save the form.
    User has the Reader (form Reader Enabled using the full LC Enterprise Suite)
    user can open form;
    fill it in;
    print it;
    data connections to databases and web services will work;
    user can save the form.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

    Hi,
    You have the choice between xml or pdf, in later versions of designer you can choose with a dropdown on the email button Object palette, the "Submit As";
    In earlier version you had to edit the XML Source and change the format from xml to pdf (or vice-versa);

  • Acrobat 8 Standard and Acrobat X Pro unable to install

    Hello,
    I have purchased Acrobat 8 Standard and Acrobat X Pro, and have both serial numbers.
    I am unable to install either in my new computer.
    I do not have a disc for Acorbat 8, but do have one for Acrobat X Pro.
    I have tried downloading from Download and Installation Help.  I received the following error message:  "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed.  Setup will now terminate."
    I have uninstalled and re-installed 8.
    I have used the Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner.
    Nothing has worked so far.
    I received an email from Adobe Help & Support. I replied in order to set up an appointment, but never received a response.
    It was suggested in one of the last communications in another forum, that I post a new discussion in the Acrobat Installation & Update Issues forum.
    Please help.

    Hi Elizabeth ,
    It is not recommended to download and run two Acrobat versions on the same machine as it can lead to some conflicts between the two and as well as with the activation server .
    Try and use single software on one machine .
    Please use the Adobe Cleaner tool to uninstall the software .Here is the link for the same .
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    Once uninstalled ,try downloading the software once again and see if that works for you .Make sure you disable all the third party software while the installation is in progress to avoid any interruption.
    Or you could refer the following to download Acrobat X Pro .Acrobat 8 standard ,as it is an older version would not be available now .
    You could try and download Acrobat X referring the following KB document and serialize by typing the serial number mentioned on the disk .

    I am a Creative Cloud subscriber and Acrobat XI Pro is asking for a serial number.  When I enter my CC serial number, it indicates that the serial number is invalid

    >enter my CC serial number
    I don't know how that is possible, since Cloud accounts do not use a serial number... you download & install & activate Cloud programs with your Cloud log in to your paid account

  • IND CS3 and Acrobat 9 Pro

    I am working in IND CS3 version 5.0.4 and Acrobat 9 Pro version 9.0.0
    Computer: Windows XP Pro, Ver.2002, SP 3
    Dell Optiplex GX 620, Pent. D 3GHZ, 3.50GB RAM
    Question:
    I am new to the PC environment and have noticed that everytime I double-click an IND CS3 document to open it my computer freezes and then opens it in Acrobat 9 Pro as a PDF. Also noticed that I can't drag a PDF to the shortcut on desktop for Acrobat to open PDFs.
    Anyone know why these things happen?
    Thanks for any help.
    Andy

    Check your file associations - they are in two places. Windows Folders and in Bridge. In Windows go to Control Panel. Find Folder Options. Go to File Type. Find indd and make sure it defaults to Indesign.exe. With PDF find Acrobat*.exe

  • Reader 9 and Acrobat X Pro

    Has anyone installed Reader 9 on a machine that also has Acrobat X Pro?  A website we use for UCC filings is not compatible with Acrobat X Pro.  We need to determine the best way to work with this website until they are compatible with Acrobat X and though intalling both Reader 9 and Acrobat X Pro on the same machine would be an option.  We are on Windows 7 64-bit with Office 2010 32-bit.
    Thanks!

    It is recommended you use Reader and Acrobat at the same version.
    Though I have not tested the performance of Reader 9 and Acrobat 10 simultaneously but it should be fine.

  • Inclusion of LiveCycle Designer with Acrobat Pro 8.0

    Are there any restrictions to LiveCycle Designer that's furnished with Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 ?
    I've checked the validity of my copy of Acrobat Pro 8.0, including the installation S/N, with Adobe Customer Service.
    After Installation and activation...
    When I launch LiveCycle Designer, I get a time-out message saying that my copy of LiveCycle designer will expire in a few days.
    All the advertising and Adobe-published data sheets give no indication that the copy of LiveCycle Designer is a 30-day eval copy. Customer Service's only comment was I needed to upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0!
    When I asked if the version of LiveCycle Designer that was included in 9.0 was a full and not eval version - all they would say was, "you need to upgrade to 9.0"
    Does anyone have any additional information on this?
    (Thanks)

    I believe I used the vista un-install. Eventually, I wound up un-installing ALL the Adobe products on the machine, then deleted everything under C:\Program Files\Adobe. Finally, I ran Registry Mechanic to try and catch anything the un-install might have missed.
    Since the original posting I've noticed other postings regarding timeout issues with the eval copy of Acrobat. This might be related.
    I'll try support & see what they say.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Errors on saved form when designed with Acrobat 9 Pro

    I have created a file with Acrobat 9 Pro with fields, check boxes, etc.... for customers to fill in, save, and e-mail/print .
    I finally managed to get the form to be saved by any Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 (or above). But when they open their saved , filled-in form, the contents have changed! The boxes they have ticked are no longer ticked, but others are instead...

    LiveCycle Designer is no longer distributed as part of the Acrobat release. I think it is available as a separate product. At this point, Acrobat provides the AcroForm type tools (kind of hard to get to, just as in some previous versions) and the option for Forms Central. The whole focus has changed. I suspect that others may be in the same situation of trying to get their forms to interact in Acrobat or Forms Central, but at this point I do not think there is any way to back Designer forms into either of the two current formats. Not much help, but a comment in any case.

  • Installing CS5 and Acrobat 9 Pro problem

    Just wondering if anyone can help me on line.  I have tried the chat session which took a long time to get connected to an agent, I was informed that they could not help me there as they only worked with CS6 and up.  They referred me to the forum.  So, I am not sure if I am in the right place but here goes.
    I am trying to install the Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium software that I bought years ago on an older iMac computer (2007) I believe.  The hard drive failed recently and I had a new one put in which included the operating system, OS X 10.6.8.  I have recently tried to install Adobe CS5 which I purchased some years ago.  The software package had the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro disc which helps to install the CS5 package.  I have tried to install Acrobat 9 Pro twice and I now get the following error message:
    The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “DistillerLib” can’t be read or written.
    (Error code -36)
    I did not notice this message the first time I tried to install the entire package so on the first attempt I went on to trying to install the CS5 Design Premium disc next.  It attempted for a good while to try and install it but ultimately stopped.  I have gone to the support site and uninstalled the CS5 Design Premium files that were left on there thinking I could start over.  So, I put back in the Acrobat 9 Pro disc and it said there was an Acrobat 9 Pro file there and did I want to replace it.  I said yes, and then as it attempted to replace these files, I got the message stated above about the DistillerLib error ode - 36.
    I do have a membership for Adobe Creative Cloud and I can only put the latest software available there on my other 2 computers.  This computer I am trying to put the CS5 software (standalone) is for my granddaughter who I am trying to help learn Photoshop and Illustrator.  The computer I am trying to put this on is the one I had bought for my son who recently passed away.  At this time I can't get another subscription for my granddaughter.  So, how can I get this CS5 package installed or do I have to take the computer back to the technical folks who put in the hard drive to help me.  I saw on the support site instructions for installing CS5 but as you can see from my discussion, this is not working for me now.  Is it the operating system causing problems for this older version of Creative Suite CS5?  ...... or is it Acrobat 9 Pro?

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer and Office 2010

    Hi guys,
    I'm using Adobe LiveCycle Designer (version 9 / ES2). I try to open a MS Word file, but I receive an error message.
    Word (version XP or higher) cannot be found on the machine.
    OS: Windows 7 Enterprise
    Office: 2010
    I read that the version 8.2 of LiveCycle Designer doesn't work with Office 2007 and higher. In this constellation the same error message appears. Is it the same problem on my side? How can I solve it?
    Many Thanks,
    untalentiert

    I'm running Win XP using Parallels 8... LiveCycle Designer is WIndows only and Acrobat XI will only import hyperlinks correctly from Windows versions of Office - which is why I use Office on both the Mac and Windows side, as well as Acrobat XI on both platforms. You can't use the Office plug-ins for Office using LibreOffice (or even Office 2011 for Mac) hence the need to open docs in Word on the Windows side instead of the Mac side.
    What I'm confused by is the pricing difference between the packages - I guessing that the $163 package is the 'full retail' and not an OEM or anything - but I don't know if an OEM would even work under a VM with Parallels...
    So I may end up with the full retail version, although I'd like to save the $70 difference if I can!
    Thanks,
    Clinton

  • Office 2007 and Acrobat 9 pro?

    Hello everyone -- Does anyone know if Office 2007 will work with Acrobat 9 pro.  I was happily using Office 2003 and Outlook to save my e-mail in indexed pdf portfolios.  I could search all e-mail folders and keep separate files for each e-mail correspondent.  In addition, I could open attachments from within the pdf document.  My entire filing system is dependent on being able to do this.  I was forced to upgrade Office 2003 (because microsoft mistakenly assumed my copy was illegal even though it wasn't, but that's another story).  Microsoft no longer sells Office 2003, so I bought Office 2010.  That program is a disaster for me for many reasons.  I would be willing to adjust if I could keep saving my outlook e-mail as I was able to do before, but from what I can tell that is going to be impossible.  So I'm thinking of downgrading to Office 2007?  Does anyone know if that will work.  I'd be very grateful for some helpful info.  I have been around in circles with both Adobe and Microsoft.  Thanks.

    Hello,
    I'm sorry to tell you this, but I'm afraid you're in the wrong forum! This forum is for questions pertaining to Acrobat.com (www.acrobat.com) and we aren't able to provide specific guidance for questions or issues regarding Acrobat desktop software. That said, Acrobat 9 should have no problem working with Office 2007; it shipped after Office 2007 had come out, and will almost certainly be compatible. You may want to corroborate this information by reposting your question in the Acrobat forums:
    http://www.acrobatusers.com/forums/aucbb/index.php
    Best of luck!
    Kind regards,
    Rebecca

  • Differences between Acrobat 3D Conversion in Acrobat 8 3D and Acrobat 9 Pro Extended – Scale model

    We have a customer which intensively uses 3D capabilities in Acrobat 8 3D but could not find the similar features using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. Basically they could not find out a way transform the model using “Scale by” factor in Transform tab in the Acrobat 3D Conversion window as they used to do in Acrobat 8. This tab is not available in Acrobat 9.
    We tried to use 3D Reviewer but Properties, where we can find similar commands is always read only.
    Thanks
    Fernando Goncalves

    If I start another trial on another computer in my lan then I can't ? Because Acrobat Extended and Distiller work great but Reviewer 3d never start at all.

  • How to reinstall Acrobat X Pro? I purchased Acrobat X at a retail staore and Acrobat X Pro from the Adobe Website.

    I just installed a Solid State Hard-drive on my computer and am now looking for a way to reinstall Acrobat X Pro that I purchased from the Adobe Website. I purchased Acrobat X from a retail store.
    I dont need to install Acrobat X from the Disc before I install Acrobat X Pro I purchased from the website do I? And how do I install Acrobat X Pro anyway?

    Hi Sonoma707,
    There's no difference between the installer on the disk and that available online.
    You can download Acrobat 10 Pro from : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html
    and use the purchased serial number to activate the software.

  • Acrobat  8 3D and Acrobat 9 Pro

    Hi,
    I'm currently using Acrobat 8 3D and are interested in animations. I know that I have seen an example on the adobe.com site (Acrobat 8 3D) where the breaks on a car is exploded. I can't find this any more. I also looked in the presentation for Acrobat 9 Pro for animation and I can't fins a word about animations. Is it possible at all to do animations in Acrobat 9?
    /Anna

    The 3D features from Acrobat 8-3D are only found in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended - a different package to Acrobat 9 Pro.
    See
    http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatproextended/
    and
    http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/matrix.html
    for what's in which version. Pro Extended (which we usually refer to here as 'APEX') isn't bundled in any of the Creative Suite editions.
    The best place for 3D samples is the AUC site at www.acrobatusers.com - under resources..3D gallery you'll find some of the stuff you remember seeing.
