Livecycle Designer and Echosign

Hi All!
Has anyone been able to utilize a dynamic livecycle designer form with Echosign?  I have found a white paper that talks about using Echosign with Livecycle, but i am thinking that is not livecycle designer.  Here is what I am looking for.  I have a dynamic form that utilizes javascript behind different fields.  I would like to be able to have the user sign the form using echosign. Is there anyway to "call" echo sign using a url on a submit?  Looking for any help.
Thanks!
Jodi

Assuming you read this whitepaper, then it looks like the EchoSign integration may require one or more parts of the LiveCycle Server Suite.

    Hi,
    You have the choice between xml or pdf, in later versions of designer you can choose with a dropdown on the email button Object palette, the "Submit As";
    In earlier version you had to edit the XML Source and change the format from xml to pdf (or vice-versa);

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer and Office 2010

    Hi guys,
I'm using Adobe LiveCycle Designer (version 9 / ES2). I try to open a MS Word file, but I receive an error message.
Word (version XP or higher) cannot be found on the machine.
    OS: Windows 7 Enterprise
    Office: 2010
I read that the version 8.2 of LiveCycle Designer doesn't work with Office 2007 and higher. In this constellation the same error message appears. Is it the same problem on my side? How can I solve it?
    Many Thanks,
    untalentiert

I'm running Win XP using Parallels 8... LiveCycle Designer is WIndows only and Acrobat XI will only import hyperlinks correctly from Windows versions of Office - which is why I use Office on both the Mac and Windows side, as well as Acrobat XI on both platforms. You can't use the Office plug-ins for Office using LibreOffice (or even Office 2011 for Mac) hence the need to open docs in Word on the Windows side instead of the Mac side.
What I'm confused by is the pricing difference between the packages - I guessing that the $163 package is the 'full retail' and not an OEM or anything - but I don't know if an OEM would even work under a VM with Parallels...
So I may end up with the full retail version, although I'd like to save the $70 difference if I can!
    Thanks,

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer and send XML

    Dear all,
I have developped a PDF with Adobe LiveCycle Designer  that send an XML file to BW using a button Submit. But this PDF works when executed from the Adobe LiveCycle Designer software (tabpstrip PDF preview) but does not work when it is executed standalone (no logon asked.. )
Do you have some ideas to solve this problem ?
    Regards,
    Vince

    Hi Nitesh,
I have installed ADL standalone on my pc.
When I execute my PDF from ADL it works : I click on a button and a logon screen on a SAP system is shown (like access on web report), I fill it and the XML file is sent and shown through RSA3 transaction.
But when I launch the PDF alone, I get an error message when I clik on the same button : 'HTTP 401 - Unauthorized'.
Do you have another clue ?

  • Extension fields in forms using Adobe LiveCycle Designer and SAP Cloud Application Studio.

    Hello everyone,
I am new to using SAP Cloud Application Studio and am currently working on forms.
I have created some extension fields in the dunning letter form message type : FormDunning Notification.
Upon activating, the extension fields do show up in backend form data type structure.
However i am unable to find the fields in the front end form under Form Template Maintenance.
I have tried opening form with open editor as well as downloading template and opening in Adobe LiveCycle Designer .
After creating the data connection in adobe ,the first field (ProjNumDun ) do appear in correct place in data view. But i cant find the rest of the fields.
Any help, guidance and suggestion will be really appriciated.
    Thanking in advance,
    Kamakshi

    Kamakshi,
First, any extension fields added must be explicitly assigned to appear on the forms. Through Front-end Adaptation, this would be via the "Further Usage" link. Within the SDK, you'd right-click the XBO and select "Enhance Forms" (which would take you to the same screen as you'd end up at in through front-end").
You must select "Add Field and Edit..." to actually assign it to the Form Template schema.
Once this step is done, re-download the Form Template, and make sure to reload the Data Connection within LiveCycle. Through there, you should see your fields. You'll likely have to dig for them - they appear at the very end of the child elements.
Note that, while fields added through the front-end have a long string appended to the end (for example, it would appear as "ExtensionField_1234AISU897234HJA" if added via front-end adaptation), the fields added via the SDK do NOT have the suffix (you'll be looking for an element with JUST the field name, i.e. "ExtensionField")

  • LiveCycle Designer and Acrobat 9 Pro

I designed a form in LiveCycle Designer, save it as PDF file.  Try to open it in Acrobat 9 Pro for editing, but cannot.  Why?  I want to edit my fields with Acrobat 9 Pro.  What I am doing wrong?

Sorry but this is the wrong forum (this is for the Collaboration Services). You may want to try the LiveCycle Designer forum:

  • Problems using LiveCycle Designer and Web Services

    Hi there.
I've just finished reading all the 485 post in this forum, and I've already looked at all the samples and FAQ's, but I still I have the same problem, and it seems I'm not the only one. Here goes:
I have a .NET Web Service that exposes three methods: one that indicates which PDF to open, one to pre-populate some of the fields of the form and another one to handle the submitted form.
The first method is called within my asp.net web application and simply determines which pdf form to open in a given context. This one is cool and I have no problems here.
The second method populates my pdf form. But here starts the trouble. I can't seem to make the pdf call the web service when it is loaded. I mean, what I want is to tell the pdf form that when he loads (and before he shows on the browser), he should call the web service method that pre-populates him. But I can't seem to be able to do this. I've seen JimmiPham's CheckCreditCard.pdf sample, but what he does is call the web service upon a click on the button. What I wanted is similar but on the load of the form. I've added the following line of javascript code to the initialize method of a textbox:
    msg.rawValue = xfa.connectionSet.conn.execute(0);
where msg is the textbox and conn is the name of my connection. I've used this code based on the sample of the designer help. I've also tried to drag and drop the button from the dataview (the one that is automatically generated) but it wont work. If I press it it gives me an error stating that there was an error attempting to read the web service file (*.asmx).
I've also tried to drag and drop the textbox in the generated web service response (in the dataview) but nothing works.
Does anyone have any ideas of what am I doing wrong? This is my first contact with this technology, and I really don't know very well how to manipulate it...
    Regards.

    Hi Jimmy.<br /><br />Thanks for the help.<br />I'm getting really desperate now. Your sample doesn't work. However I have some more info that might bring some light into the fight...<br />I've seen your sample (awesome work), tried it and saved it. Then I opened it with designer 7.0 and checked the code in the click event of the button.<br />Then I copied/pasted your code into my form. I dragged a text box and a button into my form and left them with the default names (TextBox1 and Button1). In the click event of Button1 I've pasted your code and then changed the parts I wanted, as follows:<br /><br />----- form1.#subform[0].Button1::click - (JavaScript, client) --------------------------------------<br />var cWSURL = "http://localhost/SIIOP.PDFManager/PDFManager.asmx?WSDL";<br /><br />app.alert("Setup webservicex PopulatePDF Interface using WSDL URL: \"" + cWSURL + "\"\n");<br /><br />SOAP.wiredump = true;<br /><br />var service = SOAP.connect(cWSURL);<br /><br />if(typeof service != "object")<br />     app.alert("Couldn't get PopulatePDF WSDL object");<br /><br />if(service.PopulatePDF == "undefined")<br />     app.alert("Couldn't get webservicex.PopulatePDF Call");<br /><br />var e;<br /><br />// I need no parameters<br />//var param =<br />//{<br />//    "CardNumber": xfa.resolveNode("CardNumber").rawValue<br />//};<br /><br />try<br />{<br />    app.alert("Make PopulatePDF SOAP call");<br />     <br />//     var result = service.CheckCC(param);<br />     var result = service.PopulatePDF();<br /><br />     if((result == "") || (result == null))  {<br />          app.alert("WebService PopulatePDF returns nothing");<br />         result = "<no results returned>";<br />          }<br /><br />function dump(obj)<br />{<br /><br />    if(typeof obj == "object")<br />    {<br />        for(var i in obj)<br />        {<br />             app.alert("note1: " + i + " = " + obj[i]);<br />             if (i == "string")<br />               {<br />                    xfa.form.Page1.TextField1.rawValue = obj[i];<br />               }<br />          }<br />    }<br />    else app.alert("note2: " + i + " = " + obj[i]);<br />}<br /><br />dump(result);<br /><br />SOAP.wiredump = false;<br /><br />     //xfa.datasets.data.loadXML(result);<br />     //xfa.resolveNode("CardType").rawValue = result["urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-diffgram-v1diffgram"]["NewDataSet"]["Table"].CardTy pe;<br />     //xfa.resolveNode("CardValid").rawValue = result["urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-diffgram-v1diffgram"]["NewDataSet"]["Table"].CardVa lid;<br /><br />}<br />catch(e)<br />{<br />     app.alert("Problem with webservicex.PopulatePDF Call: " + e);<br />}<br /><br />I saved the form and opened it with internet explorer. When I press the button, I get the first alert stating that "Setup webservicex PopulatePDF Interface using WSDL URL: http://localhost/SIIOP.PDFManager/PDFManager.asmx?WSDL". That's correct.<br />Then I get an alert that says "Couldn't get PopulatePDF WSDL object", which means that he can't get the object. The result is undefined. But that's odd, since I can establish a data connection to this WSDL using the New Data Connection wizard, and in this wizard it even says which methods and actions the web service has... So, the problem must be in the way the web service exposes himself to the PDF, right? <br />Well anyway, here follows the wsdl I have:<br /><br /> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <br />- <wsdl:definitions xmlns:http="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/http/" xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/" xmlns:s="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soapenc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:tns="http://tempuri.org/" xmlns:tm="http://microsoft.com/wsdl/mime/textMatching/" xmlns:mime="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/mime/" targetNamespace="http://tempuri.org/" xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"><br />- <wsdl:types><br />- <s:schema elementFormDefault="qualified" targetNamespace="http://tempuri.org/"><br />- <s:element name="PopulatePDF"><br />  <s:complexType /> <br />  </s:element><br />- <s:element name="PopulatePDFResponse"><br />- <s:complexType><br />- <s:sequence><br />  <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="PopulatePDFResult" type="s:string" /> <br />  </s:sequence><br />  </s:complexType><br />  </s:element><br />- <s:element name="CallPDF"><br />  <s:complexType /> <br />  </s:element><br />- <s:element name="CallPDFResponse"><br />- <s:complexType><br />- <s:sequence><br />  <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="CallPDFResult" type="s:string" /> <br />  </s:sequence><br />  </s:complexType><br />  </s:element><br />- <s:element name="HandleSubmittedPDF"><br />  <s:complexType /> <br />  </s:element><br />- <s:element name="HandleSubmittedPDFResponse"><br />- <s:complexType><br />- <s:sequence><br />  <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="HandleSubmittedPDFResult" type="s:string" /> <br />  </s:sequence><br />  </s:complexType><br />  </s:element><br />  </s:schema><br />  </wsdl:types><br />- <wsdl:message name="PopulatePDFSoapIn"><br />  <wsdl:part name="parameters" element="tns:PopulatePDF" /> <br />  </wsdl:message><br />- <wsdl:message name="PopulatePDFSoapOut"><br />  <wsdl:part name="parameters" element="tns:PopulatePDFResponse" /> <br />  </wsdl:message><br />- <wsdl:message name="CallPDFSoapIn"><br />  <wsdl:part name="parameters" element="tns:CallPDF" /> <br />  </wsdl:message><br />- <wsdl:message name="CallPDFSoapOut"><br />  <wsdl:part name="parameters" element="tns:CallPDFResponse" /> <br />  </wsdl:message><br />- <wsdl:message name="HandleSubmittedPDFSoapIn"><br />  <wsdl:part name="parameters" element="tns:HandleSubmittedPDF" /> <br />  </wsdl:message><br />- <wsdl:message name="HandleSubmittedPDFSoapOut"><br />  <wsdl:part name="parameters" element="tns:HandleSubmittedPDFResponse" /> <br />  </wsdl:message><br />- <wsdl:portType name="PDFManagerSoap"><br />- <wsdl:operation name="PopulatePDF"><br />  <wsdl:input message="tns:PopulatePDFSoapIn" /> <br />  <wsdl:output message="tns:PopulatePDFSoapOut" /> <br />  </wsdl:operation><br />- <wsdl:operation name="CallPDF"><br />  <wsdl:input message="tns:CallPDFSoapIn" /> <br />  <wsdl:output message="tns:CallPDFSoapOut" /> <br />  </wsdl:operation><br />- <wsdl:operation name="HandleSubmittedPDF"><br />  <wsdl:input message="tns:HandleSubmittedPDFSoapIn" /> <br />  <wsdl:output message="tns:HandleSubmittedPDFSoapOut" /> <br />  </wsdl:operation><br />  </wsdl:portType><br />- <wsdl:binding name="PDFManagerSoap" type="tns:PDFManagerSoap"><br />  <soap:binding transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http" style="document" /> <br />- <wsdl:operation name="PopulatePDF"><br />  <soap:operation soapAction="http://tempuri.org/PopulatePDF" style="document" /> <br />- <wsdl:input><br />  <soap:body use="literal" /> <br />  </wsdl:input><br />- <wsdl:output><br />  <soap:body use="literal" /> <br />  </wsdl:output><br />  </wsdl:operation><br />- <wsdl:operation name="CallPDF"><br />  <soap:operation soapAction="http://tempuri.org/CallPDF" style="document" /> <br />- <wsdl:input><br />  <soap:body use="literal" /> <br />  </wsdl:input><br />- <wsdl:output><br />  <soap:body use="literal" /> <br />  </wsdl:output><br />  </wsdl:operation><br />- <wsdl:operation name="HandleSubmittedPDF"><br />  <soap:operation soapAction="http://tempuri.org/HandleSubmittedPDF" style="document" /> <br />- <wsdl:input><br />  <soap:body use="literal" /> <br />  </wsdl:input><br />- <wsdl:output><br />  <soap:body use="literal" /> <br />  </wsdl:output><br />  </wsdl:operation><br />  </wsdl:binding><br />- <wsdl:service name="PDFManager"><br />  <documentation xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/" /> <br />- <wsdl:port name="PDFManagerSoap" binding="tns:PDFManagerSoap"><br />  <soap:address location="http://localhost/SIIOP.PDFManager/PDFManager.asmx" /> <br />  </wsdl:port><br />  </wsdl:service><br />  </wsdl:definitions><br /><br />If I invoke this webservice method through Internet Explorer, I get the following response:<br /><br />  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <br />  <string xmlns="http://tempuri.org/">Hello World</string>

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 and LiveCycle Designer

We have had some outside help creating forms and they have been using LiveCycle Designer and we would like to make some changes however since we only have Acrobat 9 we are not able to open the form to edit fields. When looking at the help menu in Acrobat is stays that You can use LiveCycle designer to edit forms that were created in Acrobat, however Acrobat can not edit forms fields that have been opened and saved in LiveCycle Designer.
With that said, do we have LiveCycle and we just dont know about it? Our outside help seems to think we should have it? does anyone know a work around? Thanks!

You should be able to open the form. As far as edits, you will have to go to the FORMS menu. The TOOLS>Forms is for the AcroForms, not LiveCycle. The FORMS menu is generally your entry to LiveCycle. If you do not have that, it is apparently an issue with Std (I thought they had added Forms to AA9 Std).

  • I installed Acrobat XI through the Creative Cloud and without notice it remove my perpetual license of Acrobat 10 Pro and LiveCycle Designer.

It all worked okay when I had Acrobat 10 and 11 installed from perpetual licenses, it's only when Creative Cloud got into the mix.  Anyone find a way to keep Creative Cloud from breaking this?

Thanks for the explanation Sabian, now can you share with me how I can get Creative Cloud to do a custom install so I can keep it from removing LiveCycle Designer and Acrobat 10.  When I installed it from CDs I had no problem & got everything to work just right.  I don't really care if it's supported by Adobe or not I just need it to work.

  • How can I write to a file from a livecycle designed PDF?

I am producing a PDF in Livecycle designer and would like to write a sub-set of data from the document.
I have tried methods such as exportData() but this exports everything which i don't need.
I have seen another method which is to attach a file and write to that but ideally I'd just like to be able to create a new file.
    var data = xfa.data.nodes.item(0).nodes.item(1).saveXML()  var oFile = util.streamFromString(data , "utf-8");
I would like to write oFile.
    Thanks in advance
    Edit:
I would like to add that ideally the user would be presented with a save as dialog  box, so the can choose the location of where to save the xml data.

when an oracle istance is created the services that support it are setup to 'log on as' the system (or operating system) account, this account has very few privileges and no acces to Window NT Domains. To access another Windows NT machine the OracleServiceXXXX must be setup to logon to the appropriate Windows NT Domain as a user who has acces to the required location for UTL_FILE.
To change the default logon for the Oracle services go to (in Windows NT):
Control Panel | Services | OracleServiceXXXX | startup | log on as; (where XXXX is the instance name)
In Windows 2000, this would be:
Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services | OracleServiceXXX | Properties | Log on tab; (again XXXX is the instance name)
Choose the This Account radio button, and then complete the appropriate domain login information. ONce the services have been setup as a user with the appropriate privileges, ther are two options dfor setting UTL_FILE_DIR:
    * Mapped Dirve: To use a mapped drive, the user that the service starts as must have setup a drive to match UTL_FILE_DIR and be logged onto the server when UTL_FILE is in use.
    * Universal Naming Convention: UNC is preferable to Mapped Drives because it does not require anyone to be logged on and utl_file_dir should be set to a name in the form \\<machine name>\<share name>\<path>
You will of course need to stop and restart Oracle after changing the properties of the service.

I want to write some data to a (external) file. I have it working with the function UTL_FILE.
My problem is I want to write to a file on a mapped drive (so a drive on a different machine). This is not working.

  • Having Problems Seeing your LiveCycle Designer Forms on the iPAD Adobe Reader App?

I'm not a computer wize and very new to Adobe and creating forms with LiveCycle.  So apologize to anyone that reads this and says "duh", but hopefully it will be helpful to someone out there who is struggling like I was.
    First off - the IPad will will definitely be able to view your livecycle forms regardless of what anyone else says!  These were my steps;
    1. Create form in LiveCycle Designer.
    2. When you save, select "save as"
    3. When the dialogue box opens, and you are creating the name of what you are going to call your file, below you will see a drop down box labeled "Save As Type".  Make sure you switch the file type to "Adobe Static PDF Form (*.pdf)"
    And that's it!
Here is another tip for a user like me:)
I need to create a form to post to a website, where people fill it in and save it to their computers.  I found that when I just saved the form straight from LiveCycle Designer and then posted, some of the free adobe versions wouldn't let the user fill it in.  So this is what I did,
    1. Follow the first 3 steps I listed above.
    2. Next open Adobe (the full version) not the reader.  I have Adobe X.
    3. Got to "Save As".  It will give you a bunch of options.  Select "Reader Extended PDF" and then "Enable Additional Features"
    Add that should be it!
One more tip for the average to low level user.  We had some feedback that when someone open my form in the iPad app. they were not able to fill it in.  They could, but what they didn't realize was they needed to select the icon at the top that is a little picture of a speech bubble and pencile.

Yup. I filled in the form and made a bunch of comments, closed the app and everything I had filled in on the form was still there. I also tried emailing the filled in form to myself and opening it. The comments and filled in sections don't appear when I open it in my email viewer, but as long as I open it in the adobe app everything is still there.
Now all I have to do is to convince my web guy not to be mad when I Tell him he has to repost all my files (JK) ;)

  • Problem with expanding textfield in Adobe LiveCycle Designer

I've got an urgent problem with Adobe LiveCycle Designer and I really could use some help. The problem is that I'm trying to get my textfield expandable, but whatever I try, it's not working. What I'm trying to get done is that you can fill in a textfield, and when there is more text than the size of the field, the textfield expands to make the text fit in the field.
I tried a whole lot of things:
placing the textfield in a subform
    expand to fit (height)
    allow multiple lines
    allow page breaks
    flowed/positioned
    etc.
The strange thing is, that no matter what I try to adjust, I can't change anything in the pagination tab. Maybe that is the problem, but I don't know what to do, to change that.
In the examples of Adobe itself (Purchase Form) is an example of a textfield that sort of behaves as I want it to, BUT the problem is that that textfield in the subform has to be triggered to appear by a button (add comments) and that is what I don't want. I want the textfield to be visible from the beginning. But in that example you CAN see the pagination tab and make changes in it.
I searched a lot in the Adobe Helpfiles of Designer, and I even bought and read/studied the book 'Creating Dynamic Forms with Adobe LiveCycle Designer', but still I'm not able to get this done.
Is there anyone who can help me?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sterre

I am creating my first .pdf with no training. I first converted a word doc of our form into a .pdf. Modified everything and thought I was the "bomb" for figuring it out. Then I tried to use the form and where I had "allowed multiple lines" I realized that it would allow that but not display it or print it except for what was showing.
In researching for a solution, this site said to use "expand to fit". After much frustration I realized that this feature is only available if you created the form from scratch in adobe.
I have figured out, somewhat, how to create the form and get the field to move with the text but I need the entire form to adjust to the input. Can't have one specific field expand into the rest of the form.
I did some more research on this site, and it looks like the solution has something to do with 'subforms'. No idea what to do.
If anyone knows if there is a way to do this with a converted doc (since I already have that completed) I would GREATLY appreciate it. If it isn't possible, could someone walk me through how to do it or provide a reference for a "barney style" walk through?
Appreciate ANY assistance you can provide. THANKS! Guess I need to sign up for an Adobe Pro class. BTW I'm working on LiveCyle 8.0

I'm new to LiveCycle designer and PDF development and am working through the first LiveCycle Designer tutorial. When I click on Preview PDF, LiveCycle crashes -

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Thanks. I tried that and it did not work. Ultimately I fixed it by uninstalling Reader and installing the latest version.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 Dropdown List Fill from a spreadsheet

I am a new user to Adobe LiveCycle Designer and have created a form which a manager is required to fill out for each of their employees.
I would like to create a drop-down object which will contain the name of the employees, so the manager can just pick the employee from a dropdown list and then fill out the evaluation.  We have over 1000 employees, so I don't want to type them in one by one.
Please let me know how to link the list of employees to this form from another source.
I can put the list of employee names into an Excel spreadsheet or an Access Database.
I have tried following information posted in different places in the web, but I must be doing something wrong??
I would appreciate a step by step guide of instructions to help me accomplish this task.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Select the Drop Down object and add a sample name thru the object UI. Now view the "XML Source" TAB, it shows xml code similar to the image.
Now need to prepare all the names from the excell, place all names in one column of excell and copy paste the <text> and </text> nodes to the names(hopefully each column at a time). now need to copy all together and prepare final version to copy notepad (may require some replace all with spaces to format properly) then from notepad only update the above xml source . while going to design view it may pop-up warning message of changed xml, and click yes, now all names should be present in the dropdown. Hope this works. All we are doing here the form design is from "XML Source" tab insted of adding one by one from the object from design view.

    Dear all,

Thanks for the reply. Right now I can create froms in Adobe Pro, but I need to create an "image file" which is only avialble in LiveCycle designer. Did the Acroforms you mention supports Image field? I tried to create a form with image fields in LiveCycle Designer, and then save as static form. It will work for PC but doesn't work for iPad.
