Livecycle Designer - Design View and Hierarchy Blank - Assistance Sought

12 months ago I succesfully installed Livecycle designer 8.0. Recently tried again on a new laptop with GUI 720 and decided to try Livecycle 8.2. It installs OK.
I am using Livecycle from an ABAP SAP system.
The problems come when I fire up the layout of an existing form from transaction SFP. Livecycle Designer starts OK. However the Design View is blank and the Hierarchy only contains a blank subform. The DataView however does list all the data fields on the form.
I have tried installing Livecycle Designer 8.0 and 8.1 as well but always get this same result.
Interestingly if I take a copy of an active form saved as a pdf (as it being displayed as part of an application in the portal) and open it using Livecycle Designer outside of the GUI (by executing command formdesigner.exe located in the windows "program files" installation directory) then I get all the details of the form showing correctly.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

This a very useful tip but sadly does not apply in this case where both the logon language and language of the forms are English. The locale setting on the form display is also English.I have tried English Euro and English US as just in case this does make any difference, but without success.
When I attempt to create or change a form I get a run time error MESSAGE_TYPE_X with message class CNDP and message number 006. This suggests incorrect GUI, Kernel or GUI patch. I do not know of any required GUI 720 patches and can find nothing relevant on OSS.
If no-one responding on SDN can assist in a week or so I will raise a call with SAP. I will post the results (even if they are embarrassing for me).

Why is the character style for hyperlinks not displaying correctly in design mode/viewing/output?

I am using RH9 and generating WebHelp, and I needed to globally bump up the font size of just my hyperlinked text. I went into my Style Sheet > Character tab, changed the font size of the various character settings for hyperlinks, and clicked Apply and then OK. Normally, this would change all of my hyperlink text font sizes immediately across all of my topics. However, this time, it made no changes to any existing hyperlinked text, and it only affected new hyperlinks that I subsequently added. For the existing hyperlinks, I can only manually change the font size of the each hyperlink one at a time, but that's crazy (there's 100's in this help).
I can successfully change other characters styles and paragraph styles. This issue only affects the hyperlink character styles. It also shows up in all RH modes - Design mode, viewing, and in the final output.
Is this an indication of a corrupted style sheet or some other combination of events that I have yet to discover?

You probably have inline styling in your project overwriting the font size of your style sheet. How are you changing the font size of the individual hyperlinks?
There is a workaround for inline styling: Open your CSS in notepad and add !important after the font-size:
font-size: 4pt !important;
Note that this is a workaround, not a solution. As a solutions you can remove all the style attributes from your hyperlinks to force them to take the CSS styling again.

Access 2010 on 64 Bit Windows 7 Access "Not Responding" when changing from forms view to design view and back

I am running
Windows 7 64 bit
Access 2010 32 bit
Developing an application with a split FE BE with both files local but continue to have the message "Not Responding" when switching from forms view to design view and back as well as if I try to connect to a subform or object on the sub form.

I have seen this behavior when the form's RecordSource is a complex query such as a crosstab or a query with several nested queries. To test if this is your case, remove the RecordSource and see if the form starts acting normal again.
Then again, if the form has several subforms they might be slowing up the loading time.

Font in Design View different from font in Live View and browser preview

My external style sheet has the body set for a sans-serif font and there is nothing to contradict it in the HTML documents. But while I get sans-serif in the Design View (as you would expect), I get a serif font in Live View and Browser Preview, not to mention on the Web itself.
How is this possible (and what should I do about it)?

Murray and David: it worked! It is a rare and joyous experience to have a straightforward solution to the sorts of problems I come up with (including other realms). But I have to say that with HTML and CSS (and hence with Dreamweaver), solutions to difficulties have seemed within easier reach than in other parts of the computer world.

In SharePoint Designer 2010, we could not save the workflow as a template directly except the reusable workflow.
However, in SharePoint Designer 2013, we can just save all the types workflow as a template, then you can import the workflow into the new environment.

In SharePoint Designer 2013, every time we publish the workflow, we would get a newer version workflow, and the old workflow version would be overwritten.
So, when you deploy the workflow in the environment, the workflow would the newer version.

CS3 Design View And Invisible Elements

Hello, CS3 Dreamweaver often doesn't shown hidden divs. I
have an
absolutely positioned div and it seems the only way to see it
in design
view is to go to code view select the div and switch back to
design view
and with luck it will appear. View - Visual Aids - Invisible
Elements is
checked. Are there any settings I have missed or are
invisible elements

DW's Design view (in any version of DW) will not show
elements with the
visibility:hidden attribute enabled unless you select the
element. An easy
way to do that would be to select it in the AP ELEMENTS
panel. Have you
tried that?

Anyway to have source code html, design view and CSS open windows at the same time?

Is there anyway I can keep design view, source code AND css open on screen all at the same time?
Constantly clicking between source and css is really becoming irritating, would be so much easier if they were both on screen at the same time.

You have two choices.
1 You can go to preferences>general and the very first item (in CS6) is "open document in tabs" if you deselct that then you can view your page in split view and also open up the CSS file and have it visible as well.
2 If you use tabs you can view the page in split view and open the CSS file and then detach the css from the tab and it will be an idependent item. You detach it by highlighting the tab and then dragging it down.
It helps to have a large screen, and better still to have more than one screen, you can put the css on the other screen.

Unable to View/Create Hierarchy Version (0HIER_VERS) Variable in BEx Design

Hi experts,
I have activated 0HIER_VERS InfoObject together with its variable i.e. 0P_HVER from BI Content.
I would like to use this version variable as a parameter to my Hierarchy Node Variable. However, in Variables > Hierarchy Node Variables > Variable Hierarchy Select Hierarchy Version > Version Variables, I am not able to view the Hierarchy Version variable, 0P_HVER or create any.
May I know how to view the activated variable or create a new one?

Well I got the solution from one of the SAP notes, it states that often because of the inconsistencies in the RSDIOBCIOBJ table this problem occurs and the solution to this is to execute the RSDG_IOBC_REORG function module in transaction SE37 (F8 -> single test) with the following parameters:
Function module RSDG_IOBC_REORG
Import parameter Value
I_OBJVERS A
I_PROGRESS
I_IOBJTP *
I_ALL_IOBJ X
I_T_IOBJNM 0 entries
I_BYPASS_BUFFER
F8 -> Execute
Refer Note 573421.
This solved my problem. Just putting this up here if anyone in future come across the same problem.

Problems previewing in HTML in Adobe LiveCycle ES4 Designer

I have downloaded and installed the trial version of Adobe LiveCycle ES4 Designer. After creating a very simple XFA form, I cannot preview it in HTML. Clicking on Preview HTML tab does something funny with the UI and then just returns to the "Design View" tab. Manually trying to contact the localhost server e.g. localhost:8080/lc/content/xfaforms/profiles/default.html returns ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. Any ideas?

Do you have LiveCycle ES4 Server installed? HTML forms are designed in Designer but rendered with server components.

Flash 9 Public Alpha work uncomplete format with Khmer Unicode on design page view

I am trying using your trial product in Cambodia to test the
Khmer Unicode of usp10.dll in system32 of Windows XP Professional
and Windows Vista Ultimate, but I am sad to tell you that Flash 9
Public Alpha did not support with Khmer Unicode in the right format
of Khmer Language. Can you include Khmer Unicode Fonts into your
Flash 9 Public Alpha? Even though Flash 9 Public Alpha has some
error of character spaces with with Khmer Unicode on the design
view, but as you press Ctrl key + Enter to test video, it display
well Khmer Unicode Format. Please try correct more on the design
page view, I hope Flash 9 Public Alpha will fully support with
Khmer Unicode.

In IE it shows as a blank page (white), in Firefox it's all there. I'd suspect a CSS issue.

Web application designer - save view, Export to excel problem

It is very urgent.
We are working in BW 3.5 version.
In web application designer save view, export to excel, export to CSV options are not working.In the report out put if i select any of these push buttons it is giving blank page.

There is a web item 'Menu bar' available in WAD 7.0.
There, you can set the Action (Command Triggered) (ACTION) property to Export Web Application and achieve the functionality of exporting to excel.

JSF Design Time View Not working correctly for ADF/JSF components

My project is not using any external tag libraries. It is based purely on ADF core/html and JSF core/html components. The design time view does not show the appropriate presentation, everything is shown as nexted frame containers (I suppose how you would show a component that does not have a visual representation).
If I create a new project and copy my jsp (jsf) pages over they show perfectly. I did this activity and all was going well in the new project and then I lost the design time view again. I cannot tell you what I did to cause the issue, maybe it was a modification to the web.xml as has been suggested in some other threads. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for that causes this problem, what corrective actions I might take to eliminate the issues

Ok I have isolated this issue. In my phase listener I had this line of code:
private static final Logger _logger = Logger.getLogger(EigRequest.class.getPackage().getName());
and I changed it to
private static final Logger _logger =
Logger.getLogger(EigRequest.class.getName());
and design mode started to work. I guess either of the above works for me although I do not understand why the line works when you run the application but not in design mode.
Moral to the story is if something fails in any one of these types of decorators you will drop into a raw view mode. The question I have is if errors are occuring how do I figure out where they may be. There is no indication that anything is wrong with the exception that you lose most of the design mode functionality.
This was not a compile issue, this was not a runtime issue. It took me quite a few hours of writing a test program to validate that it was not just writing a phase-listener issue; then launching, editing, relaunching the application to find the problem. I will say that a good portion of the code came from a Eclipse project. If you add the offending lines of code while using JDeveloper you do not loose design mode immediately. You only see the problem the next time you start JDeveloper which complicates finding the problem.

Remote images not showing up in design/split view

Just recently, whenever i updated the image location from the
local site to the remote site path, the images don't get loaded
into dreamweaver how it used to.
i'm not sure if i unchecked something. the paths are correct
and they show up when i preview in browser so i know it's not that.
if anyone can help with this it will be great. thanks.

BOXI3.0 Universe Design using view or query in SQL

I would like to know what are the effect to the BOXI3.0 or SQL performance if:
1. We are using view or query in creating the universe?
2. Is it the correct way of creating the universe only from tables?
3. If need to do combination between tables and views?

Hi Alias,
Designer has the capability to import tables and views you cna use in the design of the universe. Furthermore, you can also create a derived table in the universe - in simple terms it is much like a view, but the code is in the universe availble to the universe designer.
With all this available to you, it is pretty much up to you how you want to tackle the design. I would say first prise is using the physical tables in the databse, then move to using a view and if there are certain restrictions on the designer, use the derived tables.
Remeber this, at the end of the day, any SQL code generated or used is passed down to the database to be processed, may it be the query from the universe directly on the tables or by means of the views or derived tables - the database server will need to crunch through it all - and this is what will determine your performance.
