Livecycle Designer ES 8.2 Crashing When Trying to Add Elements

I've created a form and hit a roadblock.
The form is 17 pages long and contains 151 elements.
When attempting to add another element the application shows not responding and then eventually crashes.  Worse yet, it corrupts the PDF.  The byte count for the file goes from around 280KB to 0KB.  When I attempt to open the file using LC after recovering from the crash, the file is blank (obviously).
After restoring the files from tape, I attempted to work-around this issue by splitting the form into separate smaller parts and then combining the parts in Acrobat Pro, but the add more pages features is grayed out and I can combine the PDFs.
This is extremely frustrating and hugely limits my ability to create forms.
PC Specs:
Intel Xeon 1.86GHz
4GB RAM
Windows XP Pro SP3 32-bit
...just in case someone says it's a machine issue.
Here's the file:  <removed>
UPDATE **** UPDATE **** UPDATE
After speaking with one of my developers, we discovered that there is a horrible bug which loops a tag in the XML.
Here is the start of the problem:
<field name="DropDownList1" y="9.525mm" x="3.175mm" w="62mm" h="9mm">
            <ui>
               <choiceList>
                  <border>
                     <?templateDesigner StyleID aped3?>
The <?templateDesigner StyleID aped3?> tag then runs on for around 800,000 lines of code.
This apparently is a well known issue.  You can read more about the problem and the fix here:
http://acrobatusers.com/forum/forms-livecycle-designer/potential-bugs-livecycle-designer-s cript-editor-crashes-lcd
I opened the file in Textpad and deleted the tag and all its brethren.
Adobe: Is there a patch for this?

Hi,<br />I have had the same problem occur again. This time I looked at the files inside the 8.2 subdirectory to see if I could find the speciic one that is behind this problem. Look inside the following path,<br /><br />C:\Documents and Settings\<your ID>\Application Data\Adobe\Designer\8.2<br /><br />find the LinguisticOptions.xml and the InspectorEN178.xml.<br />One of these or both are getting corrupted. When I delete them the program works again. It might be a good idea to back these up if you want to keep your preferences. You can then drop these back into this subdirectory when they become corrupted again. That way you do not have to delete them completely.<br />I hope adobe will fix this problem for good.<br /><br />Steve

  • Labview crashes when trying to add CLIP

    When trying to add component level IP into Labview FPGA the program crashes (non-gracefully) when performing the check syntax.
    Steps to reproduce
    Load Project (Happens with a new unsaved project as well).
    Under FPGA Target (<Any Device>) -> Properties -> Component-Level IP
    Select Create File
    Add any VHDL file (also used the DemoClipAdder.vhd from the High-Throughput Example)
    Choose User-defined IP
    Check Syntax
    As syntax is being checked, the following appears in the log :
       Built simulation executable x.exe
       Fuse Memory Usage: 136412 KB
       Fuse CPU Usage: 468 ms
    Labview hangs for a couple of seconds then crashes
    Alternatively :
    Load Project (Or create a new project)
    Under FPGA Target (<Any Device>) -> New -> VI
    In Block Diagram, add IP Integration Block
    Save VI
    Double click IP Block
    Add Synthesis File -> DemoClipAdder.vhd
    Check Syntax (Completes successfully in this flow)
    Generate
    The following is produced in the log:
       Built simulation executable x.exe
       Fuse Memory Usage: 136668 KB
       Fuse CPU Usage: 421 ms
    Labview Hangs for a couple of seconds then Crashes
    I have tested this multiple times with multiple projects and FPGA devices with the same result every time.

    Hi ThatOtherGuy
    I have followed the steps to try to reproduce your problem but I have not been able to reproduce the error. I used this link to create the file and used notepad to create the file.
    The Check sintax is successful and I do not get any error.
    Have you try to do this in a different computer?
    Which operating system do you have?
    Which version of LabVIEW and drivers are you using?

  • LR5 crashes when trying "Update Photoshop Elements Catalog" from PSE13

    LR5 crashes after approx 3 minutes when trying "Update Photoshop Elements Catalog". I use PSE13, optimized and repaired several times. I get approx 10000 out of 30000 items into LR5 from PSE13

    Per the user's guide, from the Library Module I: File > Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog
    This brings up a dialog box that shows the most recently upgraded PSE catalog. Then, to quote the user's guide, "To choose a different PSE catalog, click the Elements drop-down menu."
    There is no "Elements drop-down menu" within the dialog box to click on. The closest thing is an expand triangle opposite "Catalog info," but when clicked, that only displays more detail about the source PSE catalog I have already upgraded. There doesn't seem to be any way to browse to or select a second PSE catalog — which is what I'm trying to do.

  • Distiller 8 crashing when trying to add watched folder

    *** Reposted from Distiller Server forum ***
    Hi,
    I am running Distiller 8.0 and am  having issues trying to add watched folders. Adding watched folders in  the past has generally been trouble free, and nothing a quick restart  won't solve at worst.
    However, Distiller is now crashing when I try to  add a new watched folder. An empty dialog box shows and then the app  quits. It also does this when going into the watched folder dialog and  cancelling rather than attempting to add a folder.
    PDFs are  still being successfully created, so there isn't a problem on that side.  There is one oddity though - a PDF file has made it onto the watched  folder list. It obviously shouldn't be there, and won't budge when  attempting to remove it.
    Has anyone come across anything like this before.  Or, crucially, does anyone know what might be going wrong?
    Here's a  screenshot (with some blanked out business info) of the dialog that  comes up. This is just after trying to add a watched folder, and just  before it quits/crashes.
    Thanks,
    Kurt

    Please repost in the Acrobat forum. This forum is for a server based version of Distiller, not the version of Distiller that comes with Acrobat.

  • PE4 crashes when trying to add titles/text

    PE4 has just begun (I have used it for over a year without experiencing this problem) crashing every time that I click on the 'add text' button. I can't get it to crash any other way except by trying to add or edit titles.
    I am using Vista on an HP pavillion with 2.0 Gb RAM and 1.8 Ghz core duo processor.
    Thanks for any advice or help that you can give me!
    Erik

    Erik,
    Since it seems that working in the Titler (Adding Text) is causing an issue, you might want to investigate your fonts very closely.
    The Titler in PE and PrPro are very, very sensitive to corrupt fonts. Other Adobe programs will not balk, unless you try to actually use one. Titler will crash and bring down the house, with just one corrupt font.
    Best solution that I have is to get a copy of Font Doctor from Extensis and run it on your entire system. It will find all fonts, test them and repair most. Otherwise, it will allow to remove the ones that could not be repaired.
    The other way to check fonts is more involved, hence my rec. above. Move half of your installed fonts (being careful to NOT Move any system fonts). Start PE and test Titler. If it works fine without crashes, Move half (of your original half) back and test. If it's fine, move half of that half back, and so on and so on. If Moving the first half did not work, then Move half of that half and text. Get the picture? The idea is to weed out by dealing in halves, rather than Moving one font at a time. As I have over 9k on the workstaion (not installed at any one time though), you can imagine the headache. Font Doctor found twelve corrupt fonts, and was able to repair ten. I then deleted the other two, and located them on a backup disc. They were fine there.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • IMessage app crashes when trying to add a pic

    When i tap the photo icon in iMessages the app crashes. I didn't have any issues at first, however, while tapping the photo button next to the text box as you are creating an imessage should bring up a menu with your latest photos and other sharing options, instead the app freezes for about 10 seconds followed by a complete crash.
    I've tried restoring as new iphone on a few occasions, but to no avail.  I did notice while my pc was synchronizing my apps, that the feature worked fine a few times until the synchronization was complete.  i've tried deleting some photos with no change either.
    I upgraded my 5s for the 6+, so i used the 5s' backup to restore onto my 6+.  i never had the issue on the 5s and still don't have the issue on my 5s.  However, I had my 6+ for 2 weeks now and i believe this issue began after the update to 8.0.2.
    Has anyone else experiencing a similar issue?  If so, what have you done to resolve it besides sending the pic through the camera or photo app.
    VERY FRUSTRATING
    Using iPhone 6 plus, 128 gb, iOS 8.0.2

    I have the same problem. iOS 8 on my 5S didn't give me problems when sending pics in iMessage but ever since I got the 6 plus 128G I can't send pics because the app freezes and then crashes. When I went to the Apple Store they did a reset all settings which solved the problem for almost 2 weeks. This problem started again a few days ago and even after resetting all settings again didn't solve the problem. This is really annoying and I hope apple will fix this problem in the next update.

  • Imessage crashes when trying to add a picture in ios 8.0.2 on my iphone 6 plus

    I am using IOS 8.0.2 and i have an iphone 6 plus. I've noticed that after the IOS 8.0.2 update... when i go into my messages application and try to add a photo... it was crash. The whole messages app will crash. I've tried rebooting and nothing helps.
    thanks so much!

    Hi danmikhail89,
    I would like to recommend that you back up then restore your software on the phone in order to address this issue and see if the issue persists. The following article can help you with this:
    Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
    If the issue persists, you may want to perform further troubleshooting by restoring the phone, then setting up the phone as new to see if the issue persists without your backup data:
    Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
    Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • PSCS6 crashes when trying to add text

    I am trying to create a picture made up of text that represents the person inthe picture.
    I go throught he stages of getting the shadows and the midtones layers together then when I add a text layer once I put in the text the program crashes and becomes unresponsive.
    I tried to reduce the amount of text but then only half the text is justified correctly and the bottom half looks as if it is tryong to wrap around an invisible box.
    Has anyone else had this problem?
    Can the amount of text be set so that I can put a large amount of text to make a picture?

    Hi mrssarahswritingclass,
    You need to make sure that you have permission to make changes to the document.
    How to check the permission. Open the pdf document in Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
    Click on File --> Properties. Once the properties windows pops up, click on security tab. Under security please check Restrictions Summary:

  • [SOLVED] CUPS Web interface crash when trying to Add Printer

    I've used the web interface @ http://localhost:631
    After a recent upgrade, when clicking Add Printer under the Admin tab, I enter the root username and password, and then the web interface "crashes". In Chromium, I get the "Aw, snap!" blue screen. In FireFox it just hangs forever.
    In /var/log/cups/error_log I see

    I've tried removing /var/run/cups and it is recreated when cups is restarted, but same error. I haven't tried adding a printer via commandline because it looks difficult.
    I've tried removing cups with pacman, and deleting /etc/cups/ /var/run/cups /usr/share/cups and anything else I could find and reinstalling, but no luck.

    It's interesting how it says "Returning HTTP Unauthorized for CUPS-Get-Devices (no URI) from localhost" when I just entered my root username and pass in the HTTP BASIC Authentication popup.

  • ITunes keeps crashing when trying to add music! WHY?!

    This is getting annoying!! I uninstalled itunes, reinstalled it. I uninstalled quicktime, reinstalled it. I did the whole path thing where you had to put "C\:program files\apple blah blah" and STILL NOTHING. Every single time I try to add a song onto my library it just crashes. It opens fine but only when I add music! What is going on here?? It's been acting like this since I download the new update. HELP. Btw I have a windows 7

    Nevermind. I solved it myself. Someone delete this thread..or whatever.

  • Firefox crashes when trying to add email attachment: Crash Signature: MSONSEXT.DLL@0x4f8b5.

    Every time I try to add an email attachment in GMX.net for the first time after opening forefox, I click the "search" bar to add a file from my computer and firefox crashes. Sometimes it works after restarting firefox after a crash, but it happens way too often and every time I have to fear that my whole email is gone because of it.

    It works OK now. Earlier today I received an email with an attached slide show. I downloaded the slide show, watched it, and closed the email. Afterwards I tried to create an email with an attached photo and it worked!
    I used to do Fortran programming on a 7090, but it seems that the home computers containing all sorts of software from who knows where and with who knows what faults, do not always work as they are supposed to. Whatever happened to logical certainty?
    Thanks anyway for your help. Jim

  • Facebook Crashes when trying to add status, add picture, check-in etc.

    I've posted this on several other forums and basically been told who cares about this problem because you shouldn't be using Facebook anyway.
    I would like to use Facebook. It is a primary way I use to keep in contact with friends. There is no easy replacement. There is viable alternative. I can't convince everyone on my Facebook to try out some other service.
    At the moment and for the last 2 months, through several updates and versions, the android Facebook app crashes why I try to add a status, add a picture, check-in. Basically all I can use the app for is the view messages, view newsfeed. I can reply or post comments or post a status. All that causes the app to crash.
    It has also been pointed out to me that I can add a status through the website. But I can't easily add a picture or check-in. It is kind of a pain in the **bleep** the use the full Facebook website on the phone in general.
    Is anyone else even have this same problem? I can't even seem to get that out of anyone. Is this a problem unique to my phone? I've found a lot of crashing threads, but they all date to before about May it seems and most say that problem is fixed.
    So is this a known, common problem? Is there a fix? Is there a way to go back to an old version of the app that worked?
    I have app version 1.8.1 and firmware 2.3.6.. Should go without saying that I am using a Samsung Droid Charge.

    The first thing I would try is to clear the app cache and data.  This can be done by going to your homescreen then pressing menu>settings>applications>manage applications, scroll down to Facebook, then press clear cache (if not greyed out), then clear data.  You will have to sign back in to Facebook within the app and redo any settings you may have changed.  If Facebook came preinstalled when you bought the phone, you should be able to uninstall all updates from this same screen.

  • RH9 in TFS Crashes When Trying to Add an Index Keyword to a Topic

    I am using RH 9 with TFS (Visual Studio 2010) on a Windows 7 64 bit system.
    My project is checked in to TFS and is running well.
    However, when I add an index keyword to a topic (Topic Properties > Index tab), and click Apply, RoboHelp crashes.
    I get the following error:
    I have other writers using RH and TFS and they don't experience this problem.
    Has anyone seen this before and any ideas how we can solve this?
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mack

    Hi there
    Are you adding your keywords to the Index ( .hhk ) file? Or to the topic itself?
    That may seem to be a silly question as you stated you are adding via Topic properties. You may believe that by adding via Topic Properties, you are adding to the topic itself. But where the keyword is actually added depends on your setting in Project Settings. There, you may choose to add to the .HHK or to the topics themselves.
    My thought here is that if you are using the option for .HHK file, you don't have access to the file and that may be the fly in the ointment here.
    Cheers... Rick
