LiveCycle Designer ES Not Working-Acrobat 9
I am using an older version of LiveCycle and Acrobat to create forms.. ES8.2; however, it has stopped working. When I go to create or edit a form, it will not launch the form and states there is problem. (see below). Can someone let me know how to resolve this issue. I have already reinstalled the software to no avail. Thanks.
Someone over on the LiveCycle Designer forum might be able to help, so consider posting this there.

How do I access LiveCycle Designer from my Adobe Acrobat X Pro?
I am unable to access LifeCycle ES2 from my Adobe Acrobat X pro, even though I am supposed to have it as part of the software. I have tried Forms/Edit forms, and I have looked for it through all the menus. Several of the helps I have found for other things has me launch LifeCycle and operate from screens that LifeCycle designer provides.
I am using Windows XP professional.
I would appreciate all the help I can get on this.
Thanks
Mogadeet43512This worked! I had to go into the system and launch it from the Designer
9.0 folder, but thanks to your instructions I now have use of it.
Thank You!

There is a terminology issue here. From Acrobat Pro X you launch Designer
not LiveCycle ES2. LiveCycle is a server product.
When you install Acrobat you have the option to install or not install
Designer. Look in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0
and check to see if there is a Designer 9.0 folder. When in Acrobat you
should be able to create a new form and it will prompt if you want to use
Designer. If all else fails you can always go into the Designer 9.0
folder and launch FormDesigner.exe

Adobe Livecycle Designer 8.0 launches Acrobat 8.1.1 instead
I use
Vista OS. When
Adobe Livecycle Designer 8.0 is launched, the splash screen is displayed and then the main window pops up only for a split second before launching
Adobe Acrobat 8.1.1 Professional instead.
I've tried
Repairing Acrobat Installation under the Help menu in Adobe Acrobat, but it hasn't helped the situation.
I had this same problem on my old computer running XP with Acrobat 7.0 Professional & Livecycle 7.0 and the problem was fixed by repairing something in the registry. The tech described that it had some conflict with some trial software but I do not know if that is the case in this instance nor do I remember the specific keys that were searched & deleted.
How do I remedy this situation?I had the same issue. I have a brand new computer running Vista and the only software that I have installed is what came from the manufacturer and Acrobat 8 Pro. I downloaded the trial version of Livecycle ES over the weekend and think that may have been the problem. My system was running a bit odd with some forms I was working on Wed. Problem happened yesterday, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling that didn't work, tried different set up points. I finally caved and reverted the computer back to factory settings by the backup and reinstalled everything and am back to running normal.

Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
I recently purchased Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, it came with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES. When I create a new document with Acrobat 9, it takes me right into LiveCycle for the design, which I do not mind. However, the properties for each field are very limited in comparaison with Acrobat 9. So, the file I create with LiveCycle I want to be able to open again with Acrobat 9 and reach the field properties with Acrobat 9, but the system does not allow me to do that. What am I doing wrong?
Anne-MarieTo force uppercase, enter the following in the change event as JavaScript (make sure JavaScipt is selected in the language dropdown list at the top right):
xfa.event.change = xfa.event.change.toUpperCase();
As you can see in the picture, there are many palettes available on the right side to edit fields. Hope this helps. -
Setting Target Version in Designer ES Not Working
I am using LiveCycle Designer ES and I save the form target version to Acrobat and Adobe Reader 8.0 or later. However, whenever I open the form in Acrobat I receive the JavaScript Warning Window telling me that "The PDF form requires a new version of Adobe Acrobat....". However it opens in Reader perfectly fine.
Is there a fix for this? Thanks.<br /><br />Designer generates a PDF version 1.7 for the target versions 8.0 and 8.1. Acrobat is able to tell the difference from the xfa template version. So an xfa template version of 2.5 is 8.0 compatible while 2.6 is 8.1 compatible.<br /><br />The xfa template of your form is 2.6 therefore Acrobat thinks its an 8.1 compatible form.<br /><br /><template xmlns:xfa="http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-template/2.1/" xmlns="http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-template/2.6/"><br /><br />The xfa template is set based on the target version. However, it will be bumped up if the form contains features not supported by the target version. So to fix your problem, you need to find out which xfa 2.6 feature the form is using and disable it. See if there is any target version warnings in the Report palette.<br /><br />Does that help solve your problem?<br /><br />Hélène<br />Adobe Systems

Design View not working with skins
Hey,
Excuses, I posted this question earlier in the "general
discussion" topic.
I'm using Adobe Flex 2. I have a pretty big project. If I
open it, design view works. If I close Flex and open the same
project again, design view wont work. There aren't any
error-messages or warnings given. I have been able to track te
problem down to graphical skins in a CSS declaration. I have to
erase them, to make Design View work. Then, I paste the code back
again. This is very inconvienent. Is this a normal problem,
inherent to how Flex works. Is there an other, easier way around?
Thanks in advance!
Knut Nidelven
Here is the code that does the damage...:

Design view not working after importing project from Flex Builder
After importing a project from Flex Builder to Flash Builder I am no longer able to see anything in the design view. I am using the flex 4.5 sdk.
Any idea how I can get this design view working? I heard it could have something to do with the metadata directory but am slightly lost here?...
AdamCould you please provide more information as to what exactly are you importing. Also does Design View not lauch at all or does it give errors. Would it be possible for you to share the logs.
Meanwhile you can try cleaning the workspace and importing again to see if that solves the issue. -
Quickie: Design view not working
Hi all,
Not sure why, but design view (non-live) just shows a grey panel, or white if I focus on it.
If I turn Live View on, I can see everything but not edit it obviously. Split code/design doesn't work unless Live View is turned on.
No idea why this is, I'm an occassional user of DW (CS6 Win7). This is a site which I've created, edited and published before all on the same workstation.
Thanks in advance,
Simon.First, validate your HTML and CSS code. Fix any reported errors. CS6 Design View is much less forgiving of coding errors than earlier versions were. A blank screen can be caused by missing semi-colons in your CSS, orphaned <div> tags, etc..
Code Validation Tools
CSS - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
HTML - http://validator.w3.org/
If after cleaning your code you still have problems, upload your page and supporting files to your web server, come back here and post the URL so we can take a look at it.

Login to Design Console not working
Login to OIM url is working fine. OIM is 11gR2 version.
However, login to Design Console is giving a "Change Password" window for xelsysadm user login from windows client (but login is ok on local OIM host).
I have reset password and logged in via OIM urls fine. Again login to Design Console is giving "Change Password" screen.
Has anyone noticed this behavior? There is no cancel button available. The small window that pop ups has three fields- one comes up with xelsysadm and the two fields or text area for Password and confirm password. There is no cancel button and trying to cancel the window does not work. Just FYI, am logging into the host after 2 months or so. It was working fine earlier. Thanks for your suggestion, any other ideas please post.

LiveCycle Watched Folder not working
We are in the process of converting our Adobe Central documents over to LiveCycle. We are working on the processes for Fax, Email, and Print and are having issues getting the Watched Folder setup. We've followed the directions online but when we place a file in the watched folder it is never picked up. When we invoke the process using the default start-point it works fine so the process itself appears to be working. Any thoughts on what we could be missing?
If you want to use that xml in your process, your process must have an xml type of "input" variable which also appears in your Watched Folder properties, Input/Output section.
Check this out : http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/workbenchHelp/help.htm?content=001464.html
Also see "Using a watched folder start point" @ http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/videotraining.html

As soon as i try to create a form from pdf, livecycle crashes...
I've tried reinstalling, repairing, everything under the sun, the application just crashes when I open it.
Tried deleting user/roaming/acrobat/designer, doesn't help...
using Acrobat Pro 8
help please? after a few hrs on chat with a tech, adobe refuses to support a product we purchased!I wrote too soon.
So the form seems to be done and functional. I just had to click cancel before going to Livecycle. Then I save it and work on it in Acrobat. I don't know why Livecycle isn't installed correctly, or honestly, what Livecycle does that Acrobat doesn't.
Anyway, problem resolved. -
Load xml works on designer but not works in adobe acrobat
Hi
I have load a xml file on the file -> properties of the form.
When I preview the pdf all works ok, but when I have saved the document and I have opened the pdf file with adobe acrobat. Then data hasn't loaded.
Somebody know what happen?
Thanks
RubenUnfortunately, Adobe no longer supports Acrobat 7. Not only that, but I don't believe it was ever supported in a Citrix environment.
You will need to upgrade to at least Acrobat 8 for general support (and official Citrix compatibility). -

I recently upgraded my Mac OS to 10.7.5 from 10.7.4. I also upgraded Java from SE6 to 7. Now my cs4 design suite will not open. I click on the Illustrator alias but nothing happens. I get the Rainbow Pinwheel that spins for 2 seconds and then stops. This also happens when I try using Photoshop, InDesign, and Dreamweaver. I've also tried opening using the .app file in the applications folder, but the same thing happens.
A side note: I tried to revert back to Java 6 with no luck. and I do not have a back up of my OS to revert back to 10.7.4. Everything was working great prior to the upgrades.
Please HelpRun teh Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall.

Distiller Watched Folders not working Acrobat 9.5.2, Mountain Lion.
I have just installed Acrobat 9.5.2 on a new Mac running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. Watched Folders don't work. When a .ps file is placed in the IN folder, it get processed by Distiller, but no PDF file is produced. The Distiller log window claims the PDF has been produced and placed in the Out folder, but it's not there. The .ps file is moved or deleted, depending on the setting.
PS files can be dropped onto Distiller in the normal way and PDF files are produced correctly, so it's not a problem with permissions. The problem persists in a new user account, so it's not a User pref issue.
Another Mac with the same setup works fine, so it's not a compatibility bug. I have seen only one other forum page with a similar issue, relating to Distiller 6, but it's not clear what the solution was. Thanks for the thought. No, it's not permissions. As I say, Distiller can distill a file that is drag 'n' dropped on it from that location and it will save a PDF file to that folder.
The problem occurs even when the folders are within the user domain, where permissions should not be an issue. It also happens on folders that have full rwxrwxrwx attributes.
Watched folders work fine on another computer with the same setup, so it isn't any annoying sandboxing that is stopping everyone from doing anything -- as you say!
