LiveCycle Designer ES Rights Management

Hi
I am new to LiveCycle Designer ES (included in my copy of Acrobat 9 Pro) and am still trying to figure out if I can utilize the rights management server features (or if I would need to based on available features). While I suspect that this would require purchase of software additional to what is included in the Acrobat 9 Pro package, I am not sure about this. I've read what is available in the help guide and online, but I am still unclear about use of these extra features. If setting up a policy and restricting PDF content to make it more secure is available, this may be useful in a particular health project.
I have a website (latest Windows server) managed by an ISP and am wondering if I could use this shared server as a LifeCycle Rights Management server. If I created a connection and policy for this server (not sure what is involved here), could I use it to better secure a PDF or form with sensitive (health) information?
Any help, suggestions for reading, would be appreciated. I'm afraid I am not understanding this set of features, how to use them or if they can be used without additional purchase of software.
Kind Regards,
Stephen

Yes additional software is required, as well as a https link to the server. The Rights management server is part of the LiveCycle suite and it will allow you to define policies that can be applied to various PDFs. These policies are kept separate from the PDF and are accessed via the https link I mentioned earlier. When opening the PDF the user must authenticate and based on his/her permissions in the policy the interface in Acrobat/Reader will adjust accordingly. For example if print is disabled then the print buttons will be greyed out for that form only. Because the policy is separated from the PDF you can change the policy on the fly and the next time the user opens that document the new rights will be applied. There is also a provision for working offline (no access to the server).
This is just a 10000 foot view you may want to contact a Sales rep and have them start a trial for you.

I want  to edit bar code field data using Adobe Reader. Bar Code field was designed and data was changing using Acrobat X1 Professional (Trial Version). But can't do so in adobe reader.

I think that product has nothing to do with it. You would use LiveCycle Reader Extensions.

  • Enforce policies (LiveCycle Rights Management ES2) for reader

hello you can apply a policy, created by LiveCycle Rights Management ES2 for the reader?
    if so, how do I

I'm not clear on what you are asking, but if it is "Can you apply a policy to a PDF usinng Reader?'  The answer is no.
Reader can open "policy protected" PDFs, and the permissions allowed or restricted by the policy will be enforced in Reader.
To apply a policy to a PDF, you need Acrobat Pro (manual process), or you can use LiveCycle ES2\ES3 to automate the process of applying a policy to a PDF using the the Workbench process design tool or by writing Java code using the LiveCycle APIs.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management credentials needed to view protected pdf.

    1. When user is authenticated (via LDAP), then during policy creation process, at the "Add User or Group" page [https://aps8:8443/edc/UserGroupSearchWizard.do ], unable to find any users or groups. Any ideas what the problem is? From the adminui page [https://aps8:8443/adminui/secured/admin.faces] find users and group is not a problem.
    2. When trying to open a policy (policy on LC8) enabled pdf from Acrobat 8.x, I get this Acrobat Security error. "You are attempting to connect to an Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server using an insecure protocol (http). The connection attemp has been cancelled. Use the https protocol instead..."
I have been using the same PC and openning policy (policy on LC7) enable pdf without such error. How to resolve this error.

  • Livecycle ES3 - Opening and edit rights managed MS office document in SharePoint

As stated in the release note of LiveCycle Rights Management 9.5 Extension for Microsoft Office:
"After opening the protected document: When you open a protected document from SharePoint Server, all permissions on the document are disabled, regardless of the policy that was applied."
Current LC ES2/ ES2.5 does not cater the direct edit of MS office documents in SharePoint.
Is there any news that LC ES3 will resolve this to allow direct edit on the document?
    Thanks.

    Excellent!
    Worked for me.
I am currently using Windows 8.1 Pro  and  Office365 ProPlus.
I got the same issue as stated by "Aki from Finland" after and decided to follow the steps outlined by "TylorWang". There were a few things I did differently due to the difference in product versions. Instead of going to the \14.0 folders,
I went to the \15.0 folders (both in the registry and under the \AppData folder).
I used PowerShell, running in Admin mode of course, to stop the MYOSYNC
    process with:
    kill -name msosync
Once I was done with the three steps, I restarted my computer. Once I logged in into my account, the usual Office Upload Center cache error did not occur and my files are now syncing without any problems.
Thank you very much "TylorWang" for your clear and precise solution and thank you TechNet for your continued support!
    Taylor.
Edit: I also run Lync 2013 on my system.

  • Is livecycle rights management provide support for android(mobile) for protection and viewing file securely- interms of API/SDK or App?

I have gone through the rights management flow of Livecycle for microsoft office extension.
However, was interested to know about is there any app or SDKs supported by livecycle on mobile devices(android).
Case study of rights management shows that live cycle has deployed and offered solutions in mobile devices using SDKs. However, couldn't find any resources or documents regarding the same.

Ok, that means live cycle (in mobile devices) is protecting only pdf documents at this point of time.
So what about in the PC and MAC ? Live cycle has the capability to protect and consume/view office or other documents?
Also is there any plans to support files/documents(apart from pdf) in the android(mobile) devices?

  • LiveCycle Rights Management ES Extension for Microsoft Office(other locale)

After I've downloaded Rights Management ES Extension and installed it, I open Office Word, it said the language found in my locale is not supported, my company is using Chinese Version Office 2007, is there any workaround solution for it?
I have encountered a problem in my company...... my comapny has around 1 million documents need to apply policy, and many of those have another documents embedded in the parent document. When I use LC PDF Generator to convert, those embedded file(s) would become an icon image and the content is lost. So I want to apply the policy directly on the document, but seems that doesn't support Chinese Office.
    Thanks and regards,
    Bearyung

  • What do I need to do to get LiveCycle Rights Management?

My company licenses pdf's to financial institutions.  We want to have the ability to set expiration dates on access to these pdf's and Rights Management sounds perfect.  I can't find out how to actually utilize this module anywhere.  It is listed as a module for LiveCycle ES4 on the Adobe website, but I can't even find out how to purchase the entire ES4 platform anywhere.  I see a LiveCycle Policy Server mentioned; do we have to buy a server? if so, where can we buy the server?  I don't I have requested a consultation multiple times and just called the number listed on the site for sales, but was sent to an answering machine - I somehow maneuvered my way to reception at Adobe headquarters in San Jose, CA and the person I talked to hadn't heard of LiveCycle...  Does this product even exist or is it just a made up.
    Please help with contact info.
    Thanks.
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
I have exactly the same questions (also my company emails out licensed pdfs) and I also have had the same experience contacting anybody at Adobe. The best sites I found were:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/livecycle.html
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/11.0/RMHelp/index.html
Regarding the server you will have to use your own one - see server requirements in the documents on the sites above. But what you excatly have to install I could not find out either.
    Did you make any progress?
    Regards,
    Martin

  • Customizing LiveCycle Rights Management login page

    Hi,
I would like to know how to customize the login page of Right Management (and if possible the AdminUI one). In the Adobe documentation, I've only found how to customize the login page of LiveCycle WorkSpace, but nothing for the other modules.
Do you have any hint for this customizaton ?
    Thanks

We don't provide the source code for adminui like we do for Workspace.
