Damit Du das mit dem Reader speichern kannst, musst Du es zuerst mit Acrobat öffnen und mit erweiterten Rechten abspeichern (Datei > Speicher als > PDF mit erweiterten Reader-Funktionen)

  • How can I write to a file from a livecycle designed PDF?

I am producing a PDF in Livecycle designer and would like to write a sub-set of data from the document.
I have tried methods such as exportData() but this exports everything which i don't need.
I have seen another method which is to attach a file and write to that but ideally I'd just like to be able to create a new file.
    var data = xfa.data.nodes.item(0).nodes.item(1).saveXML()  var oFile = util.streamFromString(data , "utf-8");
I would like to write oFile.
    Thanks in advance
    Edit:
I would like to add that ideally the user would be presented with a save as dialog  box, so the can choose the location of where to save the xml data.

when an oracle istance is created the services that support it are setup to 'log on as' the system (or operating system) account, this account has very few privileges and no acces to Window NT Domains. To access another Windows NT machine the OracleServiceXXXX must be setup to logon to the appropriate Windows NT Domain as a user who has acces to the required location for UTL_FILE.
To change the default logon for the Oracle services go to (in Windows NT):
Control Panel | Services | OracleServiceXXXX | startup | log on as; (where XXXX is the instance name)
In Windows 2000, this would be:
Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services | OracleServiceXXX | Properties | Log on tab; (again XXXX is the instance name)
Choose the This Account radio button, and then complete the appropriate domain login information. ONce the services have been setup as a user with the appropriate privileges, ther are two options dfor setting UTL_FILE_DIR:
    * Mapped Dirve: To use a mapped drive, the user that the service starts as must have setup a drive to match UTL_FILE_DIR and be logged onto the server when UTL_FILE is in use.
    * Universal Naming Convention: UNC is preferable to Mapped Drives because it does not require anyone to be logged on and utl_file_dir should be set to a name in the form \\<machine name>\<share name>\<path>
You will of course need to stop and restart Oracle after changing the properties of the service.

I want to write some data to a (external) file. I have it working with the function UTL_FILE.
My problem is I want to write to a file on a mapped drive (so a drive on a different machine). This is not working.
Does anyone know a way to build this.

  • LiveCycle Designer PDF file size

    Hello.
I have the trial of LiveCycle Designer ES2 (v9.0.0.0.2009....) installed.  I created a seemingly simple PDF form, but the file size is over 1MB.  Is that "normal"?  It seems like it would/should only be a few hundred kb, if that.

    Hi Srini,
That bug was fixed in an earlier version, so should not be a problem in ES2.
One thing to bear in mind is that by default LC Designer embeds fonts into a form (see File > Form Properties > Save Options). This does not add too much to a form if you are using an efficient font like Myriad Pro. However if you use other fonts, like Times New Roman, then this can add several hundred kb.
Also if you are using images in the form, then untick embed images in the Object > Field palette. The image will still be available when the user opens the form in Acrobat/Reader, but will be more efficient.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Adobe Acrobat aborts when using LiveCycle Designer PDF Preview tab.

Whenever I try to use the PDF preview tab in LiveCycle Designer, Adobe Acrobat aborts.  I get the notice that "Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has encoutered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.  Yadda, yadda, yadda,....." .
    The error signature is:

Please increase your Buffer memeory for appalications.
Before you go for a preview. try to kill the exisitign process of adobe reader.
We need to see hte size of the XDP being generated.
If it is over 20 0r 30 MB, we may need to bring it down to 2 - 4 MB.
Again if the problem still persists, Re install the acrobat and try.
Lastly, check if the same problem happens when you use a adobe reader 8.1.3 or 9.4 (stable versions).

  • LiveCycle Designed pdf forms not working on Macs

I have designed pdf forms with LiveCycle Designer, enabling Reading Rights. These forms have extensive interactive capabilities, including calculations, locking fields on demand, etc.
They work perfectly on Windows, as long as the user has Adobe Reader 8 or 9. However, I discovered recently that they do not open properly on Macs, and that Mac users cannot fill all the fields, cannot use the buttons (such as jumping to another page), and that the calculations or "if" conditions do not perform at all.
Is there an extension or program that Mac users can download in order to be able to use these forms? I would hate to have to change the 100 or so forms already done.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Thanks for coming back. I'm using the latest version (the 2014 update).
I've sent you a screenshot of what it looks like when trying to convert to interactive pdf.
Funny thing was it was working fine until a few tweaks and then decided to do its own thing.
I've created loads of forms before through Indesign but this error is bizzare

  • Editing Form Fields inside Acrobat? (after using LiveCycle Designer)

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended ==  Acrobat
LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 == LiveCycle Designer
    =========================================
Say I downloaded a new PDF from the interwebs.
I want to add some forms fields so I go to Forms ==> Add or Edit Fields... (inside Acrobat)
Now Acrobat will detect possible places where to add the form fields. I make changes etc. Then I am  satisfied with my form fields.
Now say I want to remove a particular object from the PDF, lets take an image as an example.
So I fire up  LiveCycle Designer; File ==> New ==> Import a PDF document ==>  Create an Interactive Form with a Flowable Layout.
I remove that pesky little object.
In LiveCycle Designer, I save the file as PDF.
I open up Acrobat. I realize I need to make some more changes to some of the Form  Fields.
But now instead of "Add or Edit Fields..." option I get "Edit Form in  Designer..."
I hate the GUI of LiveCycle Designer --- I had rather edit the form  fields from inside Acrobat, as it is easy and fast to change multiple  form fields in a few clicks.

Thank you Niall for the above response; Your response gave me an idea which allowed me to remove that line by zooming in to 200%
You know Acrobat detects Form Fields for you.
But many times it makes mistakes, for example in the screenshot below it made the boxes that came with the PDF as text fields instead of check boxes.
The thing is rather than me delete the (form) fields it detected, and start over by making new check boxes, I will not be able to place my new check box in exact locations as Acrobat has done.
When I imported the fields that Acrobat made into LC (by saving the PDF in Acrobat and then opening it with LC) I get option to change the Object Type from Text Field to Check Box when I right click the object.
Is there a similar way to change the Object Type from Text Field to Check Box inside Acrobat? Any suggestions?
    ===========
I would really like to do it inside Acrobat because then if I have to make some minor changes to some field properties, all my hard work which I did by filling the fields gets deleted, as I am forced to use LC. The text I add to the fields don't get deleted when I edit the field properties inside Acrobat. I don't know why LC decides to delete all the text which is filled out in the form fields even though the PDF is saved in Acrobat before being imported into LC?
Here is the above PDF file with the text boxes:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?lnn32jm5am5
Again thanks for all your guidance so far.

  • How do I create and auto-launch bookmarks in LiveCycle Designer?

I've created a fillable form using Adobe Live 8 Pro, I distribute the form using Acrobat. I haven't found a way to create bookmarks in LiveCycle so I create them using Acrobat first before I distribute the form...Is there another way?
The problem I'm running into with this approach is that I cannot auto-enable the bookmarks when the PDF is opened because File > Properties > Initial View is disabled.
So given that I've created a form using Adobe Live, what do I have to do to get bookmarks to launch in the initial view?
Does anyone out there know how to do this?
    thanks in advance.
    Jon

    Hi Hoser117,
Have you considered using a LiveCycle Designer PDF form?  LiveCycle Designer comes in the box with Acrobat 9 Pro.  Here's are links to some videos from acrobatusers.com that show how to create expandable/flowable tables and fields in a LiveCycle Designer PDF form-

  • Is possible in acrobat reader fill in and save interactive PDF created with LiveCycle Designer?

is possible in acrobat reader fill in and save interactive PDF created with LiveCycle Designer?

    Hi,
Only if the form has been Reader Enabled before it is sent out to the user with Reader.
There are two ways of Reader Enabling the form. One using Acrobat Standard v9 or Acrobat Professional v8 (both have license restrictions). The other is to use LC Reader Extensions ES2, which is a server product (additional costs).
    Some info here:
    http://www.assuredynamics.com/index.php/2010/11/using-livecycle-forms-in-acrobat-and-reade r/
A search of the forums for "Reader Extensions" or "Reader Enable" will give more information.
    Hope that helps,

  • Is it too much to ask that a Mac user can just OPEN and USE a PDF form created by LiveCycle Designer PC software?!?

My problem is just that- I have created all my forms using LiveCycle Designer because it is easier to make the forms accessible to individuals with disabilities.  Apparently it doesn't make Mac users have access to the forms.  I've received complaints from Mac users that cannot complete or submit the forms that I created.  I'm not asking how to recreate using another software, I know how to do that.  I'm asking is there a work around to allow a Mac user to open a PDF form or even XML (bedded within an HTML page) on a Mac computer WITHOUT having to use bootcamp, parallels, etc. and be able to complete the form and submit, print or email it?????  I've exhausted all my knowledge on this thus far and I'm hoping to find something that will help.  So far all forums talk about how Mac users need to have a PC side to their computer.  Isn't there another way?
I've attached an example form that we are no longer using (though still created exactly the same as the others)
    Thanks!

Hi, as far as I can infer, that term means it's not loading any resources until needed, opposite of this...
    -bind_at_load
Sets a bit in the mach header of the resulting binary which tells dyld to bind all symbols                when the binary is loaded, rather than lazily.
    https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man1/ld.1.html
    Load resources lazily.
You should never load a resource file until it is actually needed. Prefetching resource files may seem like a way to save time, but this practice actually slows down your app right away. In addition, if you end up not using the resource, loading it wastes memory for no good purpose.
    http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/iphone/conceptual/iphoneos programmingguide/PerformanceTuning/PerformanceTuning.html
And, higher OS versionsare even worse with Bonjour/mDNSResponder, but might see this...

  • Reader 11.0.07 does not display content of PDFs created with LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1

We use some PDFs created with LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1 which do not show any content when opened with Reader 11.0.07, only a blank display area or erratic copies of the screen behind it. Documents look fine in print preview though and also print correctly. Tried to change various security or display settings, no effect. Tried other machines, different hardware, different OS versions (Win7, Win8), same effect on every single device with 11.0.07 installed.
    Any ideas, anyone?!?

    Hi,
Not sure why you are resolving the node (??), also I would not be inclined to include a period in the object name (.), maybe this is why you are resolving the node.
Also I don't see in the script where you are calling the instanceManager, in order to use the addInstance method.
Having said that the problem may be in the File > Form Properties > Defaults tab:
Check that Preserve script changes is set to Automatic.
Lastly is the form Reader Enabled? It would need to be for users with Reader to save the changes, including new instances of a repeating element.

  • Can i use Response method in livecycle designer to render or open pdf doc?

    Hello,
Can anybody please tell me is it possible to use response method available in the adobe livecycle designer which takes the input value to open the pdf doc.
Case 1: if we send adobe form throgh mail as pdf doc, then at the receiver side if the user open the pdf doc a popup should come asking for the input value. This popup will be from the response method.
Case 2:if we save the adobe form as pdf doc on to our desktop and then if we try to open the pdf doc a popup should come asking for input value.
Is it possible to do ?
If yes then in which event of livecycle designer we should write that response method and in what way?
If no,is there any other way to do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Menaka

Yes i have tried in other events of livecycle designer.
In Formready event -> if i do preview pdf, first it will display form and then it ll ask for password. But with this event only if i save the pdf to my local desktop and try to open it ll not ask for password anywhere.
In Layoutready event ->Pdf preview in designer is working fine, but when i save it my local desktop and try to open it ll not ask for passward.
Could anybody tell me how to do it.

  • Writing data programmatically into PDF template created in LiveCycle designer

    Hi!!!
I have a PDF template designed in Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0. This template has form fields which needs to be filled with data programmatically (I don't want to open LiveCycle Designer 7.0 and from there do import/export). I want to write a program in java, which will fetch data from database and will merge this data into PDF form in respective fields.
How this can be achieved? Do I have to write an XDP file? Is there any API which will create XDP out of the PDF template created in designer? If so, then how to merge the data from the XDP into the PDF programmatically.
    Thanks in advance.

Careful with the recommendations for XPAAJ. There are specific restrictions around whether you can
use XPAAJ or not. Specifically, you have to own a copy of one of the server-based LiveCycle
products. This does not include LiveCycle Designer, which is a client product.
Maybe someone from Adobe can clarify.

  • Saving form last modified in LiveCycle Designer as PDF version 1.4

I have a PDF fillable form that was last modified/saved in LiveCycle Designer. The PDF is currently version 1.7, but I need to reduce it to version 1.4 (for compatibility reasons). The way I normally do this is to open the PDF in Acrobat and use the optimizer to save it down to version 1.4, but with this form I'm getting a message that says "The PDF document contains an Adobe XML form. Such files cannot be optimized." I downloaded the trial version of Designer ES4, but I'm not having any luck taking it down to version 1.4. Does anyone know if  it's possible to save down this kind of PDF to version 1.4?

LiveCycle PDFs aren't normal Acrobat PDFs, they're an XML file with a wrapper - that's why you can't optimize them.
You can't save to specific PDF versions, but you can change the target version of the form from Designer. I'm not sure what options Designer ES4 gives you but under the Defaults tab of File>Form Properties you can change the Target Version - I'm using ES2 can can change the compatibility back to Acrobat 7.0.5 (PDF 1.6).

  • Importing XML to Blank PDF Template;Form based on LiveCycle Designer 8

    Hello,
I searched my questions and only thread closer to what i need is from 2012 and not sure is something have changes since then...
I have rights enabled form designed in Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8 -Forms has few radio button, check boxes and date fields and email submit button(as XML).
The plan is to send the send the PDF to users, who would then complete the form, email me updated as XML attachment and essentially I am collecting the data in form of XML instead of actual PDF.
My application would need to read the XML and if some values-check box are set as true.I would need to save the PDF.
I  need details of an API /SDK needed to achieve this essentially my application need to leverage this SDK,to import the data to blank PDF and save a copy to folder.
    As always thanks in advance..

If you're looking to integrate the functionality into your application, you could license the Datalogics PDF Java Toolkit. Among other things, it has APIs that allow you to import and export XML to and from XFA forms.

  • Populate a PDF done with Adobe Livecycle Designer

I have a pdf from an institution and I have been asked to populate it directly with data saved in an excel file. I have found that the pdf was done with adobe livecycle designer and with that program I can see the name of the fields in the form.
The pdf can be found in:
    https://sedeelectronica.bde.es/f/websede/content/SPA/Form_TRA_clientes.pdf
I have thought to use a VB macro in the excel file to populate the pdf. I have been searching on Internet but by now, I am only able to read the values of the fields, but I can't change them. I know that the code below doesn't work with XFA Forms, but I have read a lot of documentation and I can't find anything else.
    Here is the code:
    Set gApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.app")
    Set avDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")
    If avDoc.Open(FileNm, "") Then
       Set pdDoc = avDoc.GetPDDoc()
       Set jso = pdDoc.GetJSObject()
    jso.Getfield("FrmSolicitudTransferenciaEuros[0].FormContent[0].ordena nte[0].datosOrdenanteExterno[0].ordenante[0]").Value  = "new value"
        pdDoc.Save 1, FileNm
        pdDoc.Close
    End If
    avDoc.Close (True)
Can anybody write an example explaining how to do that with XFA?
    Thank you in advance.

You might want to instead use an XML schema to map cells in your Excel spreadsheet to fields in your form. Then you would just export the XML data from your spreadsheet and import it into your form to populate the fields.
That should get you started. Refer to Excel and LiveCycle Designer documentation for further details.
