Is the Adobe Livecycle Designer 8.2 compatible with the Adobe Reader 10.0.x? Must we upgrade to Adobe Livecycle Designer 9.8?

    Hello GOrdonDimond,
As a General Rule I can't be certain however in the circumstance of using a SAP Application, SAP have advised that Designer 9.8 is required as per note 1317925 https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1317 925

  • Is LiveCycle ES4 compatable with Office 2013?

My network was recently upgraded to Microsoft Office 2013 and I have a LiveCycle user that reports she can no longer import documents from Word.  She is still able to create a document from scratch though.  We have un-installed and re-installed both Office and LiveCycle on her machine.  She is the only LiveCycle user I have, so I am unable to tell if it's an issue with her machine or with Office 2013.  Are there any known compatablilty issue with LiveCycle ES4 and Word 2013?

    Hello There,
I am sorry for that but Captivate is not compatible with Office 2013.
Please check the link for the compatibility between Captivate and Microsoft office: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/microsoft-powerpoint.html
    Hope this helps !

  • PDF file compatibility between LiveCycle ES and Adobe Document Server V6.0

We currently are using Adobe PDF Generator V7.0 and Adobe Document Server V6.0. We generate PDF files (using PDF generator V7.0) from office documents and then add a coversheet, to the generated PDF, and fill some form data using the Adobe Document Server. Now we are upgrading to Office 2007 and for this we will need Adobe LiveCycle ES PDF Generator for PDF conversions. If we move to LiveCycle ES can we still use Adobe Document Server for merging PDF's, and filling form Data? i.e Is the PDF file generated by LiveCycle ES compatible with Adobe Document Server?? Will there be any problems with this combination?
We could as well use LiveCycle ES Document Output for merging PDF files and fill form data with LiveCycle ES Forms. We do'nt want to do this as this would mean we need to by additional licenses of the product. The functionality that could be carried out by Adobe Document Server alone requires two seperate LiveCycle ES products to be purchased.

Doc Server was replaced by Assembler so you would migrate to that and not Output. The Assembler is part of the foundation so I am not sure how it is priced when buying PDF/G. You need to speak to your sales rep about this.

  • Form Created in LiveCycle 8 compatibility with Office 2010

A few years ago I created a form in LiveCycle Designer 8 which allowed my users to submit a pdf from by attaching it to an Outlook email. Some of the users have switched to Office 2010 and the submit button is no longer working. Any ideas for a fix? Thanks!

No you cannot... this is one of the things my organization struggles with.  I love livecycle becuase of its dynamic form capabilities, but we have so many other pre-built pdfs in adobe pro that can not be merged with these forms.  It is truly frustrating!!!  wish i had a better answer for you.  Also from the book 'Creating Dynamic Forms with Adobe LiveCycle Designer' page 6... "The PDF files that Designer creates are structurally different than other PDF files...... LiveCycle Designer can edit a PDF form created in Acrobat, but Acrobat can not edit a PDF form created in Designer."  Likewise... XML pdfs do not merge with other pdfs. JoBeth

  • AdvancedDataGrid compatability with LiveCycle Data Services

    Hi,
    I have a J2EE project which I have integrated with Flex3,
using the setup provided by your samples.jar in the LiveCycle data
services download - e.g. copied the data from web.xml,
    flex-config.xml etc.
Every thing works fine until I put an AdvancedDataGrid
element into a page. I get the error:
Could not resolve <mx:AdvancedDataGrid> to a component
    implementation.
I resolved this by copying over the datavisualization.swc
into the libs folder of my app. However then I got the error:
    unable to load SWC datavisualization.swc
I then copied over the jars provided by Flex3.0 into the
WEB-INF/flex/jars section of my project, overwriting any old ones
provided by LiveCycle Data services sample. I also updated
    flex-config.xml to provide a
    <locale><locale-element>en_US</locale-element></locale>
    element..
Then, when trying to load the page i got: the following
    error:
    Exception java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
    flex2.compiler.CompilerSwcContext
This is method exists in the old mxmlc.jar file that i
overwrote with the one provided by Flex sdk 3.0 and it is called
from the flex-webtier.jar provided by LiveCycle Data Services.
Am I right in thinking I can't have an advanced data grid at
the moment? Or do i need a different flex-webtier.jar?
    Thanks
    Matt

    Hi,
Could you please file a bug on
    http://bugs.adobe.com/flex/
in which you describe your configuration and your installer
settings. Please attach your .log file as well, which can be found
    in [your Workspace]\.metadata\.log .
    Thanks,

  • XPD File compatibility  LiveCycle Designer 7.1 to ES4

I have an extensive library of xdp files developed using LiveCycle Designer 7.1.
The hard drive on my laptop was recently wiped clean during an OS upgrade and LiveCycle was lost.
I can't find a reliable site from which to download a 7.1 install set so the question is:
Will I be able to create and  maintain both new and the existing .xdp files using the latest version of LiveCycle Designer?  (I think that is ES4)

Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro is required to save form data, unless you buy Reader Extensions server from Adobe.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer Compatibility

I edit forms using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2 and the target version is Adobe Reader 8.1.
The layout of the form looks perfectly fine on 8.2.
However, when I uploaded some forms on the test site, the layout gets messed up.
The same thing occurs when I import the form on Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.1.
I have Adobe Reader 8.1. installed in my computer.
How do I go about this? What's causing this issue?
I'm new to forms migration and to LiveCycle.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
Try to change Form preperties - Defaults - Target version.
    Maybe it can help.
    Best regards,

  • Upgrade Livecycle File Format for Reader XI Compatibility

I am having an issue with a basic form created in Livecycle ES (Bundled with Acrobat 9 Pro).  I am unable to print the form in Reader XI but Reader X works fine.  The application stops responding when clicking print. I wanted to know if there is an easy way to update this file to be compatible with Reader XI.  I have ES3 currently installed.  Thank you in advance.
EDIT: Would also like to know if there is a way of debugging this file to determine what is causing the app crash.  I have an older version of the file that does not cause Reader to crash.
    Rob

UPDATE: I was able to comb through the form and found someone had added a malformed image of some sort.  Once that was removed the form printed fine.

  • Livecycle Compatibility

Why is Livecycle only available for a windows format and will it ever be available for the Mac.

FYI: anyone who has created forms in LiveCycle Designer who buys a Mac is unable to do anything with those forms. Just another example of Adobe's complete disregard for its customers who use Macs.
Even harder to comprehend, there doesn't seem to be any effort on Adobe's part to enable saving PDF forms made in LiveCycle Designer as plain PDF forms that we can then import back into Acrobat Pro. The forms are USELESS--many, many hours of work trashed!
My "workaround," if you can call it that, is to recreate the forms in iWork Numbers, export them as PDFs, and then use the Form Wizard to create a filable form again.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES closes when I open it...

Hello all, I want to thank you beforehand for the help regarding this matter. I use Windows Vista and my Adobe LiveCycle Designer was working before but for the last week and a half or so I have not been able to get it to work! I have done scandisk/defrag/and have multiple software to keep my computer clean so I have taken those precautions beforehand. To the problem...:
My Adobe LiveCycle Designer opens up and it was working previously as mentioned, but when I try to open it by either opening or converting a form or creating a new form with a template, I am not able to as it gives me an error message and closes! It gives me an error message of "Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES has stopped working" and a screenshot of this is provided at the following link:
    http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/bc59d422150595157c212a5b181313244g.jpg
I don't know what to do and wanted to see if I could solve this problem before I was forced to try to manually reinstall it so hopefully I don't have to go through that. I appreciate the help once again!

    Shawn,
This may be a couple of known things; one is related to your specific installation (may have become corrupted if you did an upgrade from a previous version, especially if you upgraded from Beta?) Or, it may be related to a known SQL Server compatibility bug for which a hotfix will shortly be posted. (Problem with some Microsoft DLLs that get updated if you install SQL server).
If you have SQL Server installed, try looking on these forums for a patch that should be posted within the next 2 days. If not - please contact me directly, as I'd like to get someone on my development team to help look through your installation and see what the problem is, so we can fix this properly.

  • Checking for pdf/x Compatibility

    Hello there
I am using PDF Generator (from LiveCycle ES3) to convert WORD documents and images to pdfs.
In the PDF Generator settings, I am setting the "Compliance Standard" to "PDF/X-3" and the "output intent profile name" to "U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2".
Am I able to check (and more importantly verify to my client) that these settings have been applied to the resultant pdf?
When I open the resultant pdf in Acrobat Pro, in "Document Properties", the PDF version is stated as 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x).  However, there is no mention of "x".
In the preflight dialog, I can check the compliance of the document against the various PDF/X standards, however there is no statement of what the current version is.  Moreover, the button to analyze the pdf against the various "output intents" (SWOP, Japan Color Coated and Coated FOGRA39) is greyed out (I am able to "analyze and fix" against each of these options, but again there is no indication of what the current output intent is).
There are no custom properties in the Custom settings tab of the Document Properties dialog (if I save the pdf using "analyze and fix", a value of "PDF/X-3:2002" is created for the custom property "GTS_PDFXVersion" in the new pdf).
    Many thanks
    Geoff Olding

    Hi,
Knowing a PDF file's version premits deduction of what version "compatibility" is present.
Version 1.7 (Acrobat 8.x) lacks compatibility for Acrobat 9.x specific features.
Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x) lacks compatibility for Acrobat 8.x specific features.
    And so forth.
Certainly, not an elegantly simple approach; but, nevertheless it is functional.
    Using Acrobat Professional/Extended 9.x -
    Open the Preflight dialog.
    Advanced > Preflight
From the Options drop-down menu, Select "New Preflight Profile".
The Prefight: Edit Profile dialog opens.
A default profile name is provided (New Profile <number>).
Initially, Click the Save button to save the profile. You can rename it later.
Note that "New Profile" is placed in "Custom
Now, locate your "New Profile" in the column at the left of the dialog and select
    "Custom checks".
The available custom checks list loads in the pane to the right.
Above and to the right is a "Find" field.
    Enter the string "version".
    A filtered list appears.
A custom check is available for "versions newer than":
    1.2 | 1.3 | 1.4 | 1.5 | 1.6 | 1.7
and there is a custom check for "version older than 1.3".
Add the desired custom check to the profile. Save.
Configure the check for Error | Warning | Info
Info is "Notification" in the report that can be provided.
Once you have configured "New Profile" it can be used by a Batch Sequence to check multiple files.
When a Preflight is selected for use by a Batch Sequence you can configure for a "on success" and/or "on error" report.
    Be well...

  • Saving form last modified in LiveCycle Designer as PDF version 1.4

I have a PDF fillable form that was last modified/saved in LiveCycle Designer. The PDF is currently version 1.7, but I need to reduce it to version 1.4 (for compatibility reasons). The way I normally do this is to open the PDF in Acrobat and use the optimizer to save it down to version 1.4, but with this form I'm getting a message that says "The PDF document contains an Adobe XML form. Such files cannot be optimized." I downloaded the trial version of Designer ES4, but I'm not having any luck taking it down to version 1.4. Does anyone know if  it's possible to save down this kind of PDF to version 1.4?

LiveCycle PDFs aren't normal Acrobat PDFs, they're an XML file with a wrapper - that's why you can't optimize them.
You can't save to specific PDF versions, but you can change the target version of the form from Designer. I'm not sure what options Designer ES4 gives you but under the Defaults tab of File>Form Properties you can change the Target Version - I'm using ES2 can can change the compatibility back to Acrobat 7.0.5 (PDF 1.6).

  • Convert LiveCycle PDF to work in Preview-Mac OSX

I have a PDF form created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 9.0 and need it to be converted to open and work using a Mac.  Mac's built in PDF viewer is Preview. When I open this PDF in "Preview", I get the “Please wait…” message. But in Acrobat Pro this PDF open fine. Please suggest how we can open this in application "Preview".

A lot of times I find this in my opinion to be the fault of the form developer, not the software folks. There are many folks who get a new package like AA X and decide it is best to redesign all of the forms with this software, forgetting that many folks use prior versions of Acrobat/Reader/other viewer. They then expect everyone else to keep up with them. This is also a reason to stay with AcroForms in many cases rather than move to Designer forms. I see this move by form designers to be more of a problem than the software itself. It may be that the form developers should have saved the form for backward compatibility and that is the issue you are having. In fact, you indicated early on that the college upgraded their forms and I consider this short-sighted on their part (maybe you should tell them). I try to encourage folks around here to keep compatibility several versions back. When they do not, there are often folks who can not use the new form!
So, it is partly a software issue and also short-sightedness on the part of the form developer. The latter can get around the problem and chose not to (or maybe doesn't know how).

  • Can the adobe reader mobile app open standard password protected AES256 encrypted files (not Livecycle) made by Acrobat XI?

I downloaded the adobe mobile reader for iOS just now and tried opening a pdf file created by Acrobat XI and optimized (no errors reported) for web and mobile devices the file was password encrypted  (*not livecycle*) using 256AES, compatibility acrobat X with restrictions allow: none, printing  allowed low rez.
when acrobat mobile reader launched the pdf it required a password and even with the correct password used for changing security settings failed to open.
how can people secure pdf's from unauthorized editing their work in Acrobat XI using (Acrobat X compatibility), standard password protection using AES256 bit encryption and open using the adobe mobile reader app ?

I actually need at least three people to successfully open my free pdf using the Adobe Free acrobat viewer for mobile devices or my client want to remove the access for mobile devices link.
Can anyone test please the free pdf that it opens on iOS or Android ?
