LiveCycle ES2.5 to ES4 Upgrade - New servers

Greetings!
My organization is going to embark on and upgrade from ES2.5 to ES4. The upgrade we are going to perform is the ES4 upgrade that comes with a maintenance agreement.
We are going to add new servers and basically start over.
I have been searching for documentation on how to do this upgrade. I need verification of the process. What I am seeing is that we need to load ES2.5 on the new servers and then apply the ES4 upgrade to ES2.5. Is this correct?

nobody had such an issue during upgradeprocess?
i'm a little bit confused because i replaced all .jars and went through the upgradeguide again and again without any success so far.
maybe it's just a tiny bit of nothing.

  • Upgrading a RAC to new servers.

    I will be upgrading from 10.2.0.4 (2 node RAC) on Windows 2003 to 11gr2 (2 node RAC) on Windows. I will be creating the new RAC on new servers.
    My question is this, since it isn't a upgrade on the same server, do I just take an full export of the old 10.2.0.4 database and import it into the new 11gr2 database after creating the tablespaces or just a user export.
    If a full export, then I assume sys,system and sysaux would also be brought over to the new machine. Is this correct and if so what effect will it have on the new instances.
    I plan on spending alot of time researching and reading the documentation all summer since this will be done closer to December but understanding this will make reading the documentation easier. Thanks for all your help in clarifying this for me.

    If you can use the word "export" it must be a remarkably small database. I would recommend transportable tablespaces.

  • New LiveCycle ES2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) now avialable

    Adobe has released LiveCycle ES2 Service Pack 1.  Service Pack 1 updates LiveCycle ES2 server components,LiveCycle Workbench ES2, (updating both is required) and can only be deployed on LiveCycle ES2.
    Please visit, https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=lces2_sp to download Service Pack 1.  Additional details on the contents of the service pack, including the issues it addresses and installation instructions are included in the Read Me file available at the same URL.  A file extraction utility such as WinZip/gnu tar/unzip will be required in order to extract the files prior to running the installation.
    The direct link to the Service Pack download is http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=lces2_sp.
    You can also access the download from a few locations on LiveCycle DevNet pages:
    1.     Downloads tab:  http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/index.html?view=downloads
    2.     Get It section on the Get Started page: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/get_started.html

    Hi Iakov,
    If you click the link above (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=lces2_sp) and click 'Agree' you will get to this page:
    You can download the LS Designer ES2 SP1 from there as a single component. Because, like us you are standalone LC Designer ES2 (from Acrobat Pro Ext) without Workbench, you can just update the LC Designer ES2 component.
    We have sucessfully installed the update.
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • Is there a difference in generatePDFOutput between Livecycle ES2 (9) and Livecyle ES (8)

    I know that we are way behind in terms of Livecycle ES versions, but we have recently installed Livecycle ES2 (9.0) on a set of new Websphere 7 servers. All seems to be progressing will in terms of systems integrating with the new servers, but we have run into an issue with the way PDF documents are rendered in Livecycle ES2 (9.0)/WAS 7 versus Livecycle ES (8.0) / WAS 6.
    We have a few XDP templates that have Rich Text Fields with a Data Format of XHTML that are not rendering the same when using PX measurement.
    EXAMPLE: <p style="left-margin: 15px;">
    Using the API generatePDFOutput under Livecycle ES (8.0) the text is indent and all displays well in the rendered PDF. But, in Livecycle ES2 (9.0) there is no indention and the text is aligned to the left margin of the field.
    Here is the data that is used:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <form1>
       <RTF_Field>
      <body xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
      <p>This is a <i>Rich Text Field.</i></p>
      <p>It is filled using <b><i>XHTML</i></b> data.</p>
      <p></p>
      <p>The following should be 3 indented bullets. The first is indented 15<b><i>px</i></b> and the other two are indented 30<b><i>px</i></b>:</p>
      <p></p>
      <p style="margin-left: 15px;">&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;Bullet 1</p>
      <p style="margin-left: 30px;">&#186;&#160;&#160;&#160;Sub-Bullet 1</p>
      <p style="margin-left: 30px;">&#186;&#160;&#160;&#160;Sub-Bullet 2</p>
      </body>
      </RTF_Field>
    </form1>
    As you can see there is no HTML table code in the prefill. I know that that is not allowed.
    Here is an image of the results on the old Livecycle ES (8.0)
    Here is an image of the results on the new Livecycle ES2 (9.0)
    Has anyone else run into this issue? I am not an expert when it comes to the administrative side of Livecycle ES, but is there a configuration, or setting, issue that we may be missing in the Livecycle or Websphere consoles? Is there some form of tranformation of the html code on the older server that is not active on the new one? Is there a difference in the HTML code that was valid on Livecycle ES (8.0) versus Livecycle ES2 (9.0)?
    Any insight would be grately appreciated.

    I think you are right!!! Just noticed, I came here via a link.  I'll repost and hopelfully the mods will delete this.
    Thanks.

  • ORACLE 10G 2 Node RAC on servers AB to 3 node 11GR2 RAC on  new servers XYZ

    Hi Gurus ,
    We have a business requirement to upgrade existing oracle 10.2.0.4 2 Node RAC on servers A,B (HP UX 11.31 ) to 3 Node ORACLE 11GR2 on new Servers X,Y and Z(Linux and servers are from different vendor)
    We don't have ASM.We have RAW file system
    Now this has to be done with near zero down time.This is a very busy OLTP System.Golden Gate is not an option as Management is not going for it this time.
    Storage is same for everything.I am thinking of the following ways.Please let me know if you have any better plan or if you want to correct my existing plan
    Initially i thought of this way and i immediately answered myself
    Plan A
    1 ) Storage copy (BC etc..) exising 10g RAC Database files on A,B to new volumes allocated to Servers X,Y and Z ( I don't think it's possible as OS is different.I am not sure whether copying this way is possible or not , even if possible i am not sure whether new OS can identify these files or not)
    2 ) upgrade 2 Node 10.2.0.4 on X,Y to 11GR2 .
    3 ) Add a Database Node on Z
    Plan B is
    1) Build 3 Node brand new 11GR2 on X,Y and Z
    2 ) Plan for how can you replicate the data ( This has to be a logical way)
    a ) RMAN - Very time consuming as this is >50 TB Database
    b) Golden Gate - Not an option.Even if we can use it , i see there are so many logical issues with golden gate
    c) Expdp/impdp - forget about it :)
    d) physical standby (Versions are different.If it is same version and Same OS then would have been best bet)
    What would be the ideal way to do this with minium down time and with out golden gate
    I think something can be done on the lines of PLAN A itself.
    Requesting your help Gurus
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Have you considered possibility to setup a logical standby and do rolling upgrade ?
    Please have a look at the following:
    1) http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/availability/maa-wp-11g-transientlogicalrollingu-1-131927.pdf
    2) http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/availability/maa-wp-11g-upgrades-made-easy-131972.pdf
    If you can practice on test setup, it looks a faster option than the others.

  • XSLT  - Exception error when using XSLT 2.0 code in Transform on LiveCycle ES2

    I'm new to using this forum, so apologies in advance in I have posted this to the wrong place.
    I'm using Adobe LiveCycle ES2.5 (Jboss) and have written several complex XSLT scripts.  All have worked, with the exception of the latest one in which I have to sum a repeating subnode that maynot exist and if it does, may contain a number or be empty.  When I have used SUM by itself, it works perfectly if I all the nodes have values, but returns zero if any are missing or are empty.  After some searching I found a solution (which I have made bold) in the fragment below.
    <xsl:stylesheet version="2.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" ...>
    <xsl:variable name="varUnitValueTotal" select="sum( (if(SOURCEUNITVALUE='') then 0 else SOURCEUNITVALUE) )"/>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    I developed and tested this xslt in XMLSpy 2011 and it works a treat.  However, when I invoke the XSLT using the Services\XSLT Transformation 1.0\Transform, I get the following exception error:
    javax.xml.transform.TransformerConfigurationException: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: Could not find function: if
        at org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl.newTemplates(TransformerFactoryImpl.jav a:936)
        at org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl.newTransformer(TransformerFactoryImpl.j ava:774)
        at com.adobe.livecycle.xslt.XsltTransformer.transform(XsltTransformer.java:151)
    Now as far as the documentation is concerned ES2 and better should be using XSLT 2.0.  However to test a theory I changed the stylesheet version from 2.0 to 1.0 and re-ran the xslt in XMLSpy and it fell over at exactly the same place as the exception error.  Which makes me conclude that LC ES2+ is still using XSLT 1.0.
    Now I am stuck.  The only work around that I can see is to attempt to do the calculation in the form (which sort of defeats the point of usng XSLT).  That said I am reluctant to go down that path, since the maintenance overhead is going to be shocking if I have to apply to dozens of forms.
    Is there a way to tell the Transform service to use XSLT 2.0 and if so, how and what are the settings?  Or do I need to find and use a different transform engine, again if so which one should I use and what settings should I make at either JBoss and/or AdminUI level.
    Really hoping that someone can help.

    The XSLT service is configurable.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/LiveCycle/9.5/WorkbenchHelp/WS92d06802c76abadb-1cc35bda128261a 20dd-6750.html
    1) Stop LiveCycle.
    2) Add the .jars of your XSLT processor of choice to the LiveCycle server lib folder.
    3) Restart LiveCycle.
    4) Go to Workbench and stop the XSLT service. Right-click on XSLTService:1.0 and Edit Service Configuration.
    5) Enter the factory name for the given XSLT processor. I think for Xalan 2.7.1 it is org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl (but I could be wrong).
    6) Restart the service.

  • Moving SCOM environment to new servers

    We need to upgrade our SCOM servers from Windows Server 2008 to 2012.   In our current environment we have all of our servers in the same environment -- both Prod and Test servers.  When we make the move to new servers, we want to fix that,
    so that we have a proper Test environment with only the Test agents in it, and a Prod environment as well.    So, because we don't want to carry forward all of the old data that no longer applies to that environment, we were thinking that we'd
    just no migrate over the SCOM databases, and start fresh.   I have an idea of how I plan to tackle this migration, but I am looking for some confirmation that what I have in mind make sense and would work.   So here's how I foresee the
    migration going...
    1.  We install SCOM onto all the new Test environment servers, with a fresh database, everything brand new.
    2.  We export the management packs from the current SCOM environment and then import them into the new SCOM environment.
    3.  We update the Test SCOM agents and tell them to report to the new Test SCOM environment.
    4.  Repeat the same steps for Prod.
    Is it really as simple as that?   Seems like if we have the management packs there, that all the overrides we've configured should still be there as well as the groups, monitors, rules, etc that we've created in our current environment.
    So if we simply import those onto the new environment and tell the agent to go there, then everything should still apply correctly, right?
       Does that make sense?   Am I missing something and it's not really this easy?

    Yes, it really is that simple. It's even easier if you have to upgrade the agents. I've already done this to migrate from SCOM 2007R2 to 2012R2. I stood up the new environment, imported the MPs and then ran discovery for the systems I wanted in that environment.
    The new SCOM 2012R2 MG deployed/upgraded the agents and they were "dual-homed" reporting to the old 07 and the new 12 instance. After I was happy with the new 12 instance, I just removed the configs from the 07 agents and shut down the 07 management
    group.

  • Livecycle ES2 Installation Help

    Hi All,
    We are in the process of installing Adobe Livecycle ES2 after removing Adobe Livecycle 8.2.SP2. Does anyone have the installtion procedure and configuration procedure. Mainly I need the InstallService.bat and JBossService.exe. I tried with the files InstallService.bat and JBossService.exe which we used for earlier version Adobe Liveclyle 8.2 SP2, but its working, since all the folder structure got changed in the newer version.
    If any one can send and give me link to download the files related to run JBoss a service would be very grateful.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Umashanker.K

    Hi Jayan,
    Thanks for your reply, The links your have mentioned here works fine for
    Adobe Livecycle ES 8.0 and for 8.2. We are successfuly deployed both these
    version long before and working fine.
    Now we are testing the latest version of Adobe Live cycyle ES 2 (i.e Version
    9.0). Ater the installation we found the folder structures differ totally
    from the pervious version. We haven't got the InstallService.bat and
    JbossService.exe as part of the Installation. What we are looking here is
    configuration procedure and those two file to run JBoss as service.
    If you could help in these issues would be very grateful.

  • I have downloaded adobe LiveCycle ES2 trail version. Does this mean single cpu license version?

    Hi, I downloaded adobe LiveCycle ES2 trail version. I need single cpu license. How could i get that one??

    Acrobat XI is not distributed with Designer. Designer is now a separate product. You can create forms in Acrobat as an AcroForm or using Forms Central (an online forms program). You can print the form to a new PDF and then recreate the fields in Acrobat using the recognize form fields. You will likely have to fix the form fields, but that would be the process. Generally, once a form is taken to Designer, you can't bring it back without such steps.
    Designer is available with AA8 - AAX, but since is a separate product as I indicated.

  • LiveCycle ES2

    How come LiveCycle ES2 is included in CS6 Design & Web Premium, yet the latest version of LiveCycle is ES4? There doesn't appear to be a way to update it and my current conclusion is that maybe it is just put in as a teaser - despite the fact that it is buggy and incompatible with Word 2010... There again, maybe the same applies to LiveCycle ES4 and it is just a lemon anyway. I would appreciate an answer to my question as well as thoughts on the product.

    The ES products have been branched out in CS5/ Acrobat 10 since the whole underlying infrastructure has changed and things such as creating certificate-based "basic" PDF forms have been included in the normal Acrobat. ES2 is only provided for backward compatibility for users who may use older files and need to work with them. LC products always have been targeted at corporate and government environments and other big organisations and were of limited use without a matching server infrastructure or extensively using Adobe Connect, so as far as I'm concerned it's a non-issue. It's really merely that Adobe went trigger-happy with Acrobat 9 and included all this stuff, but as we all know most of that didn't go far and a lot of that has been superseded by other technologies. People just don't bother with creating PDF forms when they can do this interactively on a web site using a browser...

  • WEBI Report Error After Adding 2 New Servers to BOE

    There were two new servers added to the existing BO enterprise application. Both these servers have the Web Intelligence job server and Web Intelligence report server services running on them. Eversince these servers have been added we have been encountering the following error
    Creation Time: 1/11/2009 11:40 PM

    I do want to point out that when I turn off the job servers and report servers on the newly installed machines this problem goes away
    I am assuming that an old job server may assign a task the the new webi intelligence report server to execute a query and the problem shows up
    Am I possibly missing a setting in the WEB Intelligence report server?
    Is there something that can be done to fix the issue?
    We are currently at BOXIR2 SP3.6 which is installed on Windows 2000 Server with SP4
    Thank You
    Shariq

    Alan,
    I used remote desktop to access each of the servers and I am able connect to the oracle databases that the BOW accesses from both SQLPLUS as well as ODBC. I also opened up designer and was able to successfully connect to each of the universes
    I have placed the -trace option on the WEB Intelligence Report servers and going to try to find what kind of output this newly installed BOE software generates
    Can you think of anything else?
    Thank You

  • Submit Email PDF in Acrobat X Pro / LiveCycle ES2

    I'm pulling out my hair trying to get this form I created to email back the filled out pdf. I've spent a couple of days searching like crazy trying to figure out how to fix this issue.
    I created a fillable pdf form using LiveCycle ES2. I created the button to submit via email. In the submit to URL field I have: mailto:[email protected] The Submit As: PDF. ( we do not need a subject line) I saved the document, opened it up in Acrobat X Pro, went to File, Save As, Reader Extended PDF, Enable Additional Features, clicked Save to Enable Usage Rights for Reader. (that's what every other search has said to do)
    So, I send the form via email attachment to a co-worker to test it out. We fill out the form, click the Submit button... and nothing happens... again. The prompt asking which email client to use pops up, but that's it. I'm not sure what else to do. Can someone help please?!?!?!?!?!?

    We'll need more information, such as OS, version of Acrobat/Reader is being used, what email client is being used, etc. Email is generally unreliable and not secure, adn whether is works seamlessly depends on whether the client machine is set up correctly.
    Submitting to a web server is a more reliable approach that can be made secure relatively easily.

  • How to crop pages using Adobe LiveCycle ES2 PDF Generator and Acrobat 9.2 Pro Extended

    Hi all,
    I'm evaluating the possibilities of Adobe LiveCycle ES2.0 PDF Generator in order to convert on the fly (programmatically) MS Office Documents and Visio drawings into PDF files.
    I'm able to trigger this process using the Webservices API (from within C#). However when generating the PDF files in this way, each and every PDF file has a lot of white margins around it as it is generated as an 8x11 inch page.
    I have been looking in ways to crop these white margins from around the information, so that the PDF content is only showing the actual content (in order to be used as an image).
    I found a way of doing this manually by opening the generated PDF file of LiveCycle in Acrobat 9.2 Pro Extended and using the Document > Crop Pages... option.
    So my question is: Can this be done programmatically using Adobe LiveCycle ES (and/or API functions of the Acrobat tool).
    The envisioned solution would run on a server (without interaction/monitoring requirements by a human).
    Any input about this is highly appreciated.
