LiveCycle Forms and ZipFiles issues

I've created about 15 fillable forms in LiveCycle ES2 that have extended rights (as they need to have savable text for users). We want to upload these forms to our website for users to download, and since the forms can take a while to open, I thought it best to Zip them. The problem, however, is that when I tested putting a form in a zip file and unzipped it, it no longer seems to have the ability to save text any longer. It is ready strange. In other words, it can be zipped, but not zipped with extended rights kept. Does anyone on this site have any suggestions to get around this issue? Thanks.

That is really strange. Zipping and unzipping of PDF forms doesn't affect their Usage Rights.
I just added few Rights enabled PDFs to a zip file, and decompressed them. They all working fine.

Collecting data via SharePoint using LiveCycle form and Adobe Tracker

I created a form in LiveCycle ES 8.2 and have distributed it via Adobe 9.3.4 Pro (I am running Windows 7.) For the first two days, when I opened up track forms, all was working well and I was receiving all responses. However, on the third day, I was not receiving any new responses, so I called up a couple of the people I had distributed the form to to see if they had in fact submitted it, and they had. Everything on their end looked as though the form went through. They received "sucessfully submitted" messages, although I still have not recieved them. So, I went in, created a new distribution with the people that I had not received responses from. Again, I received responses the first day, but have not received a response on any of the following days.
Is anyone else having this same issue?

UPDATE
The error that is being received is, "Acrobat cannot connect to the server, but will automatically submit your form once the server is online." Our SharePoint is showing no problems. In addition, I received a new response today out of the blue. But someone tried to resubmit a form and received the "cannot connect" error.

Differences between liveCycle Forms and live Cycle Designer

In a nutshell:
LiveCycle Designer is a tool for creating PDF forms, form templates (XDP format) and form guides.
LiveCycle Forms is a server side product for combining form templates and XML data to produce interactive PDFs or form guides. It also can process submitted forms including extracting data from a template. Forms can be combined with other LiveCycle modules to create a more complex document workflow.
In other words: You build the template with Designer. You use Forms to merge the template with data and process user submissions.

HCM Forms and Proceses issue with Slary change

Hi Experts,
In HRASR_DT Tcode i have created a Z process for slaary change. I am saving a new salary for a empolyee in portal, it is saving the salary in infotype 8 correctly. But when im Reveiwing the form from Portal, it is showing salary with increased amount with some decimal point.
For Example -->
if i save a new salary as 97000.00 USD. it saves correctly (97000.00 ) in pa0008-ANSAL.
But when i am trying to review the form it shows salary as 97000.12 USD.
Please provide some way to correct it . Thanks in advance.

Hi Venkat,
To import the values from the form to workflow,make sure your binding from Workflow Container to task container is correct.
For Eg: If you want employee number to be in your workflow container. Pass the field name to the form and get the value to the workflow. Name of the worfklow container should be same as like in the form.
Field name should be passed to the container element &FORM_FIELD_NAME_1& and the value should be come from &FORM_FIELD_VALUE_1&.
This is how you can retrieve the values from the form to worklow in HCM process and forms . Hope this helps.

Forms and loadMovie issues

I'm using Flash Pro 8.
My main website page has buttons all throughout.
When a page loads on top of the main page, using loadMovie,
all of the links underneath (on the main page) are still live.
How can I prevent those links from being live when the top
page is loaded.

myBtn2_btn.enabled = false;
becasue of how I structured the forms, but you definitely
pointed me in the right direction and I was able to get it working.
From not knowing what to do - to having 2 solutions - not too

LiveCycle Form Calling Processes

Hi,
Our application use .Net, LiveCycle form and process management. From form (rendered within .Net application, open by Adobe Pro) calling back end process for validation. Since by default the authentication to process is enabled, I'm trying to find out a way to pass user credential when invoking the process. User logs in from .Net application. Anyone has resolved same issue?

That can't be true. I created a form using LiveCycle Designer and I can currently see it and fill it in on the reader. I would love to send the form to someone so they can tell me what I did right becuase I can't seem to create any more forms that I am able to view. Is there anyone I can send that file to to have a look at and give me some feedback?

Connecting to a Database from a LiveCycle form

Good morning everyone,
I've been working at understanding how to connect to a database via my livecycle form and up to here, i can easilly enough connect to an ACCESS DB.
I created an ODBC,
a simple 1 table MS Access DB
and a simple form that connects to that DB via the ODBC.
My question is, how do i set this up if i want my clients to use this form? i cant really have that ODBC installed on all their machines, so how can i have this setup instead?
I do have access to a LiveCycle server, but i only have the Extended reader module installed, nothing else. Can it be done and if so, how would i go about setting this up?
If i can get that to work, this would open up a lot of possibilities where i work at.
So what i need is a way to mimic that ODBC setup, but without having to create 5000 ODBC connections on my clients machines

Hi Patrick,
You can create a process in workbench which will make the JDBC calls and bring the data (See this - http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/services.pdf)
Then you can use the SOAP endpoint of this process in the LiveCycle form and invoke the process

Adobe LiveCycle Form Not Saving Data

I have designed dozens of Adobe LiveCycle forms and have extended rights (enable usage rights in adobe reader). My problem is that sometimes the form is not saving the data for end users. One of my end users even updated Adobe Reader, but still nothing is working and he is becoming increasingly frustrated. Any other suggestions.

Make sure all your fields have a binding set even if it is just their name.
For instance, click on a field that isn't saving, in the Object palette, under the Binding tab make sure the Data Binding is set to Use Name.

              i have studied and worked for one month on adobe livecycle forms and i have some knowledge about its products.but i didnt work on any SAP system.my doubt is that

correct, there are currently no plans to integrate Forms Manager into SAP although we have no alternative solution within SAP, i.e. you'd have to build something like Forms Manager for your purposes.

You need NetWeaver, because the Adobe functions are part of it. Web Dynpro is one of the environments that have Adobe forms functions integrated, it is the most suitable one for interactive scenarios.
We may have a different idea of what SAP is. To me, SAP comprises the business data in the ERP/CRM/etc. system and the technology components such as NetWeaver etc. Perhaps that's the misunderstanding.

Upgraded to pro X and having issues with form created in pro 9

I created a form in LiveCyle using Pro 9, the form was created for an employer who had to buy Pro X so I was upgraded to Pro X. Here are the issues I am having, This form was the first time I have ever created a form and I have never used Java Script so there is no scripting involved.
1) With Pro 9, if I opend the form with adobe instead of LiveCycle I could delete pages. Now with Pro X I can not however I can delete pages in PDF's that I did not use LiveCycle on. How do I enable exert, delete, insert, etc....
2) I was told that with Pro X it was possible to set the form so that when it's emailed back to the employer after being filled out, it could be secure. I have not been able to figure out how to set that up. The employer needs to receive the completed PDF as a PDF with the information that was input secure (socials, etc... ). If I set up an email button the employer receives a list for information and that does not work for them.
3) The employer would like to have a few fields that they input in the form then secure them or make them read only so the employee can not modify. I know how to do it design mode but it prevents them from being able to input the information they want (employee number for example).
Java Script is totally foreign to me as I am not an IT person I am a novice computer user that is self taught. If I am going to have to learn this, can anyone suggest a website or book for beginners?

Hi Heather,
There are a few things going on.
Firstly, forms that are created in LC Designer are fundementally different to native PDF documents. LC Designer forms are known as XFA Forms and are placed in a PDF wrapper, so that they can be opened in Acrobat/Reader. However a lot of the normally editing options (like deleting pages) that you can perform on a native PDF, you cannot do on an XFA Form.
You can set up the form to be emailed back and there are a number of options. The example here (http://assure.ly/dYQFb4 and http://assure.ly/hM2A5y) looks at the standard Submot by Email button down to custom buttons, depending on the functionality you need/want.
One of the things you need to bear in mind is that for users with Reader to be ble to submit the form back as a PDF, it first needs to be Reader Enabled. This is something you can do in Acrobat before you send out the form, but there are license restrictions. See here . http://assure.ly/etkFNU.
You can set up a solution that locks the fields in the form, prior to submission, but you are getting into scripting. There is an example here: http://assure.ly/yDtfsM.

LiveCycle Form used on an iPad/Distribution Issues. PLEASE HELP!

I am a young designer with a complicated problem. I have virtually no experience building interactive forms and I have a client that wants to do the following:
-Take a form and fill out some of it on a pc
-Then send it to an iPad, use the app SignMyiPad to insert photos taken with the iPad into image fields in the partially filled out form-
-Fill out the rest form on the iPad
-Then send the fully filled out form back to a pc
For reference, he has given me a form that a business associate of his is already using to do the above, however, the designer that created the existing form quit and is now on bad terms with the associate. This means I can't ask this person about the process he used that makes this work. My background is in print design, but after watching a few tutorial videos and playing around with some of the features on my own I understand the basics of creating a form in LiveCycle (I think).
I've made several test forms (just a few fields on a page) to send to my client to make sure I could create what he wanted. Unfortunately, I can't even find out if the forms I created will work the way he wants because my biggest issue so far is actually getting the pdf onto his iPad! When I email the files, sometimes they show up as an attachment icon which he can touch (click) to save and work with but most of the time the pdfs appear in the body of the email like an embedded image and he can do nothing with them. Sometimes if I send a plain text email from Outlook, it makes it to his iPad as an attachment he can work with but that only worked once with a totally blank form. When I filled some of it out and tried again, the info that was typed into the form and was saved on the pc was lost when that same file made it to his inbox.
Can anyone offer any insight? I truly have no idea what I'm doing and I really don't want to let my client down.

We have a solution that allows you to do most of what you want, including bulding the form, having people fill it out either in Reader (as an XFA-PDF) or on the iPad (as an HTML form).
You design the form once, and it will by styled correctly on the appropriate platform.

LiveCycle PDF Forms and Barcode Fields

Ive also posted this subject on the LiveCycle forum but thought I would reach out to my fellow CF'ers. So here's my issue, Im using Coldfusion to populate a LiveCycle form that contains a barcode field. The barcode disappears when the form is flattened. The image of the barcode disappears, but the value of the barcode displays.
Anyone experience this type of issue? As always, all and any advice is appreciated.

And for my standard disclaimer, if you are going to use the forms in a corporate environment, be sure to study and understand the usage limits for enabled forms (the limit is 500 uses, but there are caveats to that) in the EULA. Mostly the enabled forms are meant for very small time users. If you do not meet that requirement, Adobe sells another product that can enable files for unlimited uses but it costs in the tens of thousands of dollars and is a server side solution.

I enabled the usage rights and that did help with saving in Reader 7. I am a little concerned about the limit of 500 uses. Let me try and understand you a little better. I have a PDF that has a couple form fields and you're saying that the PDF can only be opened 500 times? I've never heard of restrictions on PDFs before. Does this happen after you place just 1 form field? How do I find out more information? I looked in the EULA, but found nothing.
Also, what does Adobe mean here "Enable users of Adobe Reader® (version 8 or later) to fill in and save PDF forms locally." Are they saying that you need Reader 8 or later to read a form or that you need Acrobat Pro 8 or later to enable the form feature?
It's all very confusing because one of the features they tout in version 9 is the ability to save forms locally, but once I enable the form I could save it with Reader 7. It's hard to tell if they are referring to Reader 9 or Acrobat Pro 9.

Bespoke Oracle Forms and Reports and Adobe LiveCycle

I'm looking to produce dynamic questionnaire letters from Oracle Reports.
Currently they're produced in PDF format.
I now need to get them into a format where the recipient can enter their responses, save the doc and then email the doc back to the sender.
RTF format produces a 24Mb file which is obviously no use.
PDF is read-only and can't be saved from Acrobat Reader.
However, I've recently discovered Adobe LiveCycle Acrobat Extensions. Can anyone hep me out with any advice? On the Adobe site it says it plugs into e-Business Suite...but what about bespoke forms/reports?

But i have not installed IAS at all. I have only Forms and Reports 10g and Oracle database installed. As you said it only save on IAS, but can we save it on local machine. Is there any other alternative.
Again my second issues is --> I want to remove Mail option and rename Cache option to PDF from Destype combo box which appears at run time.
Any idea how we can do this?

Livecycle Form Paging Issue

Hi there,
Please could someone help with a paging issue that I am having with a Livecycle form? One of the subforms I have created keeps jumping to the end of the page and I do not know for the life of me how to fix it!! It is driving me crazy and I seem to have tried everything.

Hi,
You have the choice between xml or pdf, in later versions of designer you can choose with a dropdown on the email button Object palette, the "Submit As";
In earlier version you had to edit the XML Source and change the format from xml to pdf (or vice-versa);
