Livecycle generated PDF won't preview in Windows Folder

Hi,
I've noticed that PDFs I've created via livecycle won't auto preview when single clicked in a windows folder. If I take the Livecycle created PDF and print that to a new PDF, then it will preview (See below)
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this could be happening?

Thanks,

Okay, but what Terminal command did you attempt to use before? What happens in the new user account when you try Safari there? Do you have any Input Managers installed? Those are located in /Library/InputManagers and Home/Library/InputManagers; if you don't have either of those folders, then you have no Input Managers.
You can also try quitting Safari and going to Home/Library/Preferences and deleting the com.apple.Safari.plist file, then restarting Safari and resetting all your preferences to see if that resolves the problem. But don't do that until after you've had no luck with the things above.

  • Question why my PDFs won't preview

    I have uploaded two PDF files and they won't preview for me even though they are open access files. I never had this problem before. I always receive the message that the file can only be downloaded and cannot be previewed. I want to send the links to people, but now I cannot. I don't want to post the link publicly because there is confidential information in the PDFs. Can someone at Adobe contact me privately at [email protected] and I can then send the links and perhaps find an answer to this problem. I use the site for business purposes and this is very frustrating. Thanks for any help or insight you can give.

    I'm sorry for the trouble - this was most likely due to a temporary problem that has now been fixed. Let us know if you continue to have the same issue.

  • Why won't PDFs won't preview in Firefox 36.0? (OS10.9.5)

    Since updating to Firefox 36.0 (OS 10.9.5), PDFs no longer preview in Firefox: I'm prompted to download and save them -- even though in Firefox Preferences, the default selection reads: Preview in Firefox. Help, please.

    Sorry, but this explanation explains nothing. Accessing the about:config page is easy. But all the passive voice bullets about what can be modified, reset, etc. don't give a clue of what '''should''' be done to make the PDF Viewer work. Isn't there a way to communicate that to those of use who don't speak technical jargon? The last bullet point is particularly impenetrable. Sorry to seem dense, but I'm actually a science writer, and a pretty well-known one. My job is to take highly technical information and jargon and put it into language that the rest of us can understand. To do that, I have to ask a lot of questions until I understand. So far here, I don't. Thanks -- AW

  • PDF won't preview in Safari 4.0.3

    Just installed Snow Leopard. Intel Mac Pro. Using Safari 4.0.3. No preview of pdfs in Safari at all. I've removed the Adobe pdf viewer plug-in. And I get a black screen when I try to look at the pdf in browser view. I can download the file and read it on the desktop. But no luck with Safari. Yes. I tried the terminal command too, but no luck. Any ideas?
    thanks

  • Opening LiveCycle generated pdf on mobile devices

    We have created numerous documents in LiveCycle ES3 so that the forms can be filled in and saved as a PDF, and so that some sections of the form can expand to accept large text blocks when needed.  The forms work perfectly when opened on a desktop version of Adobe Reader.  They don't open at all when users are attempting to view on a mobile device (Android, I Phone, I pad, etc).  The devices have the most current version of Adobe Reader installed, but still get an error message.
    Is there any way to save the forms so that they can be read from a mobile device with Adobe Reader?  If not, are there any third party apps that will open the forms?  They don't need to be able to fill in.  The mobile users will only be opening the form and reading it.

    Forms designed in LiveCycle Designer ES3 are XFA based forms. They cannot be opened on mobile devices.
    LiveCycle ES4 introduced Mobile Forms module which can render the existing XFA form as HTML5. More info here : http://helpx.adobe.com/livecycle/topics/mobile-forms-dev.html

  • Generating PDF in Web-Dynpro   - empty window popup

    Hi Expertise,
       I notice that in FM Y_GLXX_WD_JAVA_PDF has calls CONVERT_OTF. It returns different value bin_file in 4.6 & ecc6. In Ecc6 there wasnt return  PDF header %PDF 1.3 - ......... but 4.6 had returns. It cause the portal site will prompt out empty windows instead of prompt out PDF screen.
    Any ideas, which FM should i use to replace CONVERT_OTF or other solutions??

    For your information, i am currrently developing in Webdynpro Java. But, i don't think that is the case because the Java code will convert the Binary String to Bytes. The problem is why the BAPI returning different BIN_FILE values from two different system (ECC6.0 & 4.6C)?
    After the execution, the BAPI will return the PDF value as String
    [http://inakimi.multiply.com/photos/album/48/webdynpro#1]
    And this is the code in WD Java converting the String to Bytes:
         IWDCachedWebResource resource;
         wdThis.setData();
         String line = wdContext.currentOutputElement().getBin_File();     byte[] pdfContent = line.getBytes();
         try{
              resource = WDWebResource.getWebResource(pdfContent,   WDWebResourceType.PDF);
              IWDWindow window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(resource.getURL(), "PDF File");
              window.setWindowPosition(5, 5);
              window.setWindowSize(600, 600);
              window.show();

  • Preview in windows folder

    hi
    i have photoshop cs2
    when i save a psd file, and i go to the folder that i saved it in, i cant see the image in the folder.  i only see a photoshop icon.
    is there a way to see the image, just like i can see a jpeg?
    thanks in advance

    If the OS figures the folder is an image library, the default view is for 'Thumbnails' which displays the embedded preview Jpeg for the image file if the OS knows there is an embedded image. RAW images may not display a thumbnail unless the OS has not been fixed to display thumbnail.
    You can change your view of any folder to 'Thumbnails' and you may see a thumbnail of the first page.

  • Command to open a PDF generated Oracle Report in New browser window

    I know this is probably something for the Oracle Forums but I'll ask anyway because I can't find any info out there on this, without some extra work.
    I am generating a PDF file from 10g Oracle reports on Linux RHEL 5 and storing the PDF file to the server. I can send that PDF file directly to a printer with the "lpr" command and that part works fine.
    What I'm wanting to do now is "View" the PDF from within the server in a new window. We are using RHEL 5 (Linux) platform and I'm trying to see if there is a way to open the file with a "command line" command that will open it in a new browser window or new window period (opening it with Adobe Acrobat).
    Does anyone have a command that will do this? Otherwise, how has everyone else been handling this. The idea of just viewing the previously generated PDF Report file will save us overhead on our database servers because they won't have to re-run some of the same reports over and over.
    Any help and assistance is appreciated.
    Chris

    Several options:
    - If you only want to show the pdf to the client without printing, use destype=cache and use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT after the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT (for examples search the forms-forum, there are lots)
    -If you have to generate the pdf to a file to get it printed, you could
    +use WEBUTIL_FILETRANSFER.AS_TO_CLIENT after the printing to transfer the file to the client, then use CLIENT_HOST to view it.
    +map the appserver-directory you generate the report to as a virtual directory in the application-server then use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT to directly access the generated file via url.

  • Viewing PC-generated pdfs in Preview for Mac

    I have a pdf that I generated on a PC (Windows 7, using Acrobat 9). The front cover includes an image that was previously pdf'd then inserted as a cover graphic. When viewed using Acrobat Reader, everything looks fine both on a PC and a Mac. However, when viewed on a Mac using Preview for Mac, there are lines through the cover graphic.
    Has anyone else come across problems viewing PC-generated pdfs in Preview for Mac?

    I always find that Preview can garble certain graphic elements or even slightly alter the over-all color of the PDF. However, I also find it is a lot quicker to deal with PDFs, especially when it comes to printing. Sometimes I get a PDF that I send to print on our Canon copier and I end up canceling the print job after 10-15 minutes because it's still processing. I open that same PDF in Preview and it prints in less than a minute. The same can be said of InDesign so on certain jobs I end up exporting as a PDF and printing from Preview. This might say a lot about Adobe's Printing Engine... (sorry, off-topic)

  • Indesign-generated .pdf files won't print

    I realize this question is vague to the point of being unanswerable, but here I go anyway.
    Our department's publication person sent me a number of chapters of our book in progress so that I could print an uncorrected proof to show to our funding source. She emailed me .pdf files generated by InDesign CS2, probably, although it might have been CS3.
    She also emailed me the indesign file for the frontmatter because I had some things to add, so the .pdf for that I generated myself.
    I took everything to a local printer we regularly use. To print this job he was using a large commercial Canon setup I think. None of the .pdfs would print on it. He ended up having to print them all as images for the purposes of creating a proof for me.
    Now, I printed all of them myself on our networked postscript printer, both from a Mac and a Windows machine, no problem.
    Since the files had been emailed to me, and then to him, we thought maybe they got corrupted, so I brought them over on a disk, but that didn't help, not even the one file whose .pdf I generated myself would print.
    So is this an issue that has come up--indesign-generated .pdf files being unprintable on a commercial printer but printable on a postscript machine.

    Dov and Al,
    Yes, I'm sorry, I do realize that this isn't enough to diagnose a problem. I was hoping that this might be something that has come up before and someone would recognize.
    As far as I could tell, he was opening up the print jobs in Acrobat and sending them to his printer, which had its own job monitor. When he consulted that monitor he just said, no, it won't print.
    He's a smart guy and I've done a number of jobs with him that were generated in indesign, so I'm really at a loss to explain what has gone wrong with this one.

  • How to Enable the Preview of PDF Files in 64-bit Windows 7

    If you are running the 64-bit version of Windows 7 (or Vista), you will find that your PDF files do not preview in Windows Explorer as they do in the 32-bit versions. Instead, all you see is a message stating that This file can’t be previewed. To enable this functionality on your 64-bit operating system, follow these steps.
    1. Click the Orb (Start Button).
    2. Go to the Search programs and files textbox and input regedit.
    3. Select regedit.exe from the results.
    4. When the UAC prompt appears, click the Yes button.
    5. In the left pane of the Registry Editor, go to (and select):

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Classes\CLSID\{DC6EFB56-9CFA-464D-8880-44885D7DC193}
    6. In the right pane, locate AppID.
    7. Change AppID value to {534A1E02-D58F-44f0-B58B-36CBED287C7C}.
    8. Restart your computer for the change to take affect.

    still get "c\This file can't be previewed" in right pane of Windows Explorer for all PDF files.
    OS is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.
    Acrobat is 9.0 Standard
    Acrobat Reader XI also installed (ver 11.0.10)
    changed the registry AppID and get same results.
    Any more suggestions?

  • Unable to generate Pdf report for crystal 9/10  in Windows 2012 (Standard) server with Times New Roman font. With same font, report getting generated in excel, text, csv format in Windows 2012.

    For Times New Roman font in Windows server 2012 R2 (Standard), crystal 9/10 report in pdf format is not getting generated. When we change the font for specific report like Arial, Calibri , Cambria then pdf report getting created.
    In Windows 2008 R2, same application worked fine to generate pdf report for TimesNewRoman font and there is no change done in the application which is being used in Windows 2012 R2 server.

    Ok, thanks for the reply. You need to contact support or a forum for the Crystal software. Third party products don't usually include Adobe technology, they have their own software. When you contact them, you may want to expand "unable to generate" to give any specific symptoms including any error messages.

  • How to crop pages using Adobe LiveCycle ES2 PDF Generator and Acrobat 9.2 Pro Extended

    Hi all,
    I'm evaluating the possibilities of Adobe LiveCycle ES2.0 PDF Generator in order to convert on the fly (programmatically) MS Office Documents and Visio drawings into PDF files.
    I'm able to trigger this process using the Webservices API (from within C#). However when generating the PDF files in this way, each and every PDF file has a lot of white margins around it as it is generated as an 8x11 inch page.
    I have been looking in ways to crop these white margins from around the information, so that the PDF content is only showing the actual content (in order to be used as an image).
    I found a way of doing this manually by opening the generated PDF file of LiveCycle in Acrobat 9.2 Pro Extended and using the Document > Crop Pages... option.
    So my question is: Can this be done programmatically using Adobe LiveCycle ES (and/or API functions of the Acrobat tool).
    The envisioned solution would run on a server (without interaction/monitoring requirements by a human).
    Any input about this is highly appreciated.

  • Open a generated pdf file in new window

    Dear all,
    I'm using JDev ADF 11.1.1.4.0
    I use the command button method to generate pdf file with JasperReports and I store it into the public folder /reports/test5.pdf. To open this file I can use goLink or goButton with target frame _blank, but how can I open this file automatically after generation?

  • Save pop-up instead of download window while generating PDF.

    Hello,
    *Is it possible to allow the user to save the generated pdf right away instead of having them download first. (download option opens the PDF in a new window, and firefox 3.06 crashes upon opening the pdf).
    One more issue is, can we control the View based on browser. If user opens in firefox, I have to hide button and enable a link to save the PDF (as requested above * ).
    Currently I am using this code:
    // Open the resource to save or in new browser
           IWDWindow window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(res.getUrl(WDFileDownloadBehaviour.AUTO.ordinal()),
           res.getResourceName());
    This works fine in IE 6.0.
    Thanks
    Srinivas

    WDFileDownloadBehaviour.ALLOW_SAVE instead of AUTO should do the job
