LiveCycle on WebSphere - Installation Validation

Hi
I am a newbie to Adobe LiveCycle. I have installed LiveCycle on Win2003/WebSphere6.1.0.23 machine. We have Forms and Output Solution component. I deployed everything using the Configuration Manager.
How can I validate my LiveCycle Server?
Is there any ready sample application that I can install in my App Server and validate the LiveCycle installation? I tried the building a project from samples.jar and run the samples pertaining to forms and output. I am not getting any output (pdf file). Not sure of how to run it and make it work.
Has some one got it working on WebSphere?
Thanks in Advance for the help.

In the LiveCycle deploy folder there are two applications that are meant for Installation and Verification. For Forms the file is called "adobe-forms-ivs-jboss.ear" and for Output the file is called "adobe-output-ivs-jboss.ear". They do not get deployed by default and your s may be named differently to reflect the app server that you use. Simply deploy these files to your app server and then you will have a Installation Verification Sample (IVS). To access the application use  the following URLs:
http://servername:port/FormsIVS
and
http://servername:port/OutputIVS
Once the app loads it is pretty self evident on what to do.

  • Livecycle on Websphere 6.1--configuring SSL problem

    I have installed and set up adobe livecycle es 8.2 on websphere on an AIX platform.  I'm on page 27 of the Administering Livecycle ES guide but have hit a brick wall in regards to the SSL implementation part.
    I have an existing websphere DMGR console that i have security enabled on.  The first parts of the document are not at all what I have already set up and have working and would undo some of my current settings.  I browse through to step 25 and its now saying I should be logging into my admin console with the username and password I set up in step 2
    NO.. I already have security enabled and have a login and password set up that I use.
    It appears that the documentation for this part of the guide is not correct for websphere 6.1 and wants me to overwrite my current security settings

    Configuring SSL is a purely WebSphere Application Server (AS) administrative task.
    Although LiveCycle's documentation provides you with instructions on how to configure WebSphere AS for SSL, it is better if it is done based on your IT shop's WebSphere security policies.  This is because in many cases, Adobe's instructions might run counter to your IT organization's procedures.
    Also, verify that SSL works by using a non-LiveCycle application so that LiveCycle is kept out off the picture while SSL is being configured.
    If configured properly, http://server:port/adminui should work as well as https://server:port/adminui.

    While officially XP is not supported, I don't believe that is causing your problem. The "Could not establish a valid connection to server" indicates that there is a problem connecting from the WAS server to the DB server.
    This can be caused by one of several common problems such as:
    - Missing database driver file
    - Error in the JDBC Driver configuration or data source
    - Error in the connection pools
    The WebSphere installation guide (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/8.2/install_websphere.pdf) has a walk through starting at page 31. It can be something as minor as a typo in one of the configurations.

  • Errors while deploying LiveCycle Components in the Config Manager

    Hi All
    I've been having some problems with a LiveCycle deployment on Websphere. Here are some details about the environment:
    - Windows 2008, Enterprise
    - Oracle 11g
    - WAS ND 6.1.0.29
    - LiveCycle ES2.5
    Installation works perfectly and everything in the config manager works perfectly until I get the page where it deploys the LC components (the xxx-dsc,jar and xxx.lca files)
    At that page, when I click on deploy it fails on deploying any of the components.
    The error message thrown by the config manager is code "Error [ALC-LCM-030-200]" and description "Failed to deploy component"
    WAS log file is pretty long (considering that one exception is thrown for each component), so I won't repeat the whole thing here, but most of them look roughly like what I have below:

    I have found a couple of forum posts that reference this issue, but none seem to provide a solution. Once suggestion that seemed reasonable was that the GDS folder was not writable, but that doesn't seem to be the issues.
    Any help is much appreciated

    Greg:

  • Is there a difference in generatePDFOutput between Livecycle ES2 (9) and Livecyle ES (8)

    I know that we are way behind in terms of Livecycle ES versions, but we have recently installed Livecycle ES2 (9.0) on a set of new Websphere 7 servers. All seems to be progressing will in terms of systems integrating with the new servers, but we have run into an issue with the way PDF documents are rendered in Livecycle ES2 (9.0)/WAS 7 versus Livecycle ES (8.0) / WAS 6.
    We have a few XDP templates that have Rich Text Fields with a Data Format of XHTML that are not rendering the same when using PX measurement.
    EXAMPLE: <p style="left-margin: 15px;">
    Using the API generatePDFOutput under Livecycle ES (8.0) the text is indent and all displays well in the rendered PDF. But, in Livecycle ES2 (9.0) there is no indention and the text is aligned to the left margin of the field.
    Here is the data that is used:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <form1>
       <RTF_Field>
      <body xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
      <p>This is a <i>Rich Text Field.</i></p>
      <p>It is filled using <b><i>XHTML</i></b> data.</p>
      <p></p>
      <p>The following should be 3 indented bullets. The first is indented 15<b><i>px</i></b> and the other two are indented 30<b><i>px</i></b>:</p>
      <p></p>
      <p style="margin-left: 15px;">&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;Bullet 1</p>
      <p style="margin-left: 30px;">&#186;&#160;&#160;&#160;Sub-Bullet 1</p>
      <p style="margin-left: 30px;">&#186;&#160;&#160;&#160;Sub-Bullet 2</p>
      </body>
      </RTF_Field>
    </form1>
    As you can see there is no HTML table code in the prefill. I know that that is not allowed.
    Here is an image of the results on the old Livecycle ES (8.0)
    Here is an image of the results on the new Livecycle ES2 (9.0)
    Has anyone else run into this issue? I am not an expert when it comes to the administrative side of Livecycle ES, but is there a configuration, or setting, issue that we may be missing in the Livecycle or Websphere consoles? Is there some form of tranformation of the html code on the older server that is not active on the new one? Is there a difference in the HTML code that was valid on Livecycle ES (8.0) versus Livecycle ES2 (9.0)?
    Any insight would be grately appreciated.

    I think you are right!!! Just noticed, I came here via a link.  I'll repost and hopelfully the mods will delete this.
    Thanks.

  • Error -12 when building installer

    OS: Win7
    LabVIEW: 2012 SP1
    I am having issues with the application builder while trying to build an installer.
    The installler has the following "Aditional Installers" selected:
    LabVIEW Runtime Engine
    NU USI 2.0.1
    NI DAQmx Core Runtime 9.8
    NI DAQmx MAX Configuration 9.8
    NI VISA Runtime
    If I remove the "NI DAQmx Core Runtime 9.8" & "NI DAQmx MAX Configuration 9.8" then the installer builds without error.  How can I get it to succesfully build with these selected?
    I have upgrated the DAQmx from 9.5.5 to 9.8 and performed a mass compile but no luck.

    It looks like your installer build is trying to pull the "SiriusXM Mad Max" distribution from an unusual temp location. If this distribution was hiding inside a 7zip file and has since been altered or deleted, that we certainly confuse the installer builder. Do you know if this distribution contained the DAQmx installers you are trying to build with?
    Here are a few things you could try if this is the case.
    1. If an installer build ever suceeded while pulling source from this temp location, the location may have been saved as known good source. To undo this saved information, you can delete the file at C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\MDF\Bin\MDFInfo.xml
    2. If C:\Users\bbanacki\AppData\Local\Temp\7ZipSfx.000\Mad Max Installer\ is a valid path on your machine, try moving or renaming this folder. This should cause the installer builder to prompt you for source media. This prompt window will allow you to configure which distributions you provide as source for the build (depending on the version of the installer builder tool installed, you may have to click "No" to the question "Do you have all of these installers?" to get to the configuration page).
    3. Install the latest version of the installer build tool. A new one released with LV 2013, and it should be available to download either through NI Update Service or on the web somewhere
    4. All else fails... post your full installer build log! LabVIEW generates this for us at %temp%\LVProjectName_InstallerName_build.log

    In regards to needing to put in the CDs, LabVIEW will ask you to do so unless you actually transfer the installers to your computer.  When you install LabVIEW, it uses the installers on the CD to install to your machine.  It won't copy the installer files to your computer by default, as this would waste several GBs of space.  You would have to physically copy them from the disk or download them from ni.com/donwloads to get them on your desktop.  (This is true for any program, which is why you need installation disks to install or build installers unless you have the installer files on your computer.)
    In regards to the error, which XML file in the link I posted previously matched yours?  Revision A or Revision B?  Can you please post the precise error with Revision A replacing your XML file and the precise error with Revision B replacing your XML file?  I would expect the file paths listed to be slightly different.
    Could you also post the precise path of the "NI .NET Framework 2.0 Language Pack x86 Installer {F8ECD2D6-659C-49EB-8454-5F8F7B526FCF}.xml" file on your computer?

  • [ERROR]:INST-08010: Error in validating the port range for auto port allocation

    I am installing OBIEE 11.1.1.7.0 on a linux x86 version. I get the below error when running the installer: [VALIDATION] [ERROR]:INST-08010: Error in validating the port range for auto port allocation. At least 2 ports should be free within the range 7000-7500 for the Adminserver and Adminserver SSL. [VALIDATION] [ERROR]:INST-08010: Error in validating the port range for auto port allocation. At least 3 ports should be free within the range 9500-9699 for the Weblogic Components for BI (WLS Managed Server, Managed Server SSL and NodeManager). [VALIDATION] [SUGGESTION]:Ensure that a minimum of 3 ports are free within the range 9500-9699 for auto port allocation to work correctly for the Weblogic Components for BI (WLS Managed Server, Managed Server SSL and NodeManager). [VALIDATION] [ERROR]:INST-08012: Error in validating the port range for auto port allocation. Exiting installation due to data validation failure. Solution suggested on other post is below: your hosts file have duplicate name that point to two different IP addresses.  10.37.29.1    test1.xyz.com 10.10.10.1    test1.xyz.com But in my case, My host file has different entiries as shown below: 169.36.71.228 usl20027808.am.hedani.net  usl20027808 169.36.72.9    usl2002788.am.hedani.net usl2002788 Please suggest!

    In setDomainEnv.sh set debugFlag=false or you can just remove it.
    NodeManager is a charm after that. it can take any number of ports.
    Cheers !!

  • IBM WebSphere Connection

    Hello.
    I've been trying to add a server to the runtime tab of the Java Studio Enterprise 8. The location of the IBM Websphere installation directory is in another pc(our server pc). when i try to connect i would either get an null pointer exception or i cannot deploy my web applications on the server.
    can anyone help me with this. thanks.

    What have you specified for your installation directory?
    As I remember it still needs the local installation of WebSphere server to access the remote server.

    Well the error message clearly suggest that there is something wrong with the "Windows Security" section of you installer's specs, try removing the settings from that section and see if it builds properly, then if it does you know where you have to dig.
    Good luck

  • [SOLVED] ttf-ms-win8 installation issues -- font verification failing

    When I try to install the ttf-ms-win8 font package, using fonts I've copied from my Windows 8 installation, the build fails, with the issue being "One or more files did not pass the validity check". The fonts that failed the validity check are "calabril.ttf" and "calibrili.ttf", both of which I copied directly from my Windows 8 install.
    I've tried just commenting them out in the PKGBUILD but I couldn't find the other references to it that apparently exist because the install later failed because those files weren't present.
    I've looked for the fonts online to see if maybe one of those versions will work, but so far, no luck. I don't mind not having those two fonts, I just want the whole thing to build.
    Edit: I tried copying them from another one of my Windows 8 installations, validity check also failed on them. So I think my best course of action would be to just remove calibril and calibrili from the install.
    Edit2: I just found the corresponding md5sums from the end of the file and commented them out. Package installed fine!
