LiveCycle Reader Extensions

Where can I find out pricing and/or buy the LiveCycle Reader Extensions?

On the web page for the product -
http://www.adobe.com/products/server/readerextensions/main.html is a
"Contact a sales rep" link. They will discuss your needs and produce
a quote for your company.
The prices are set individually, but don't bother if your budget is
under US$50 thousand.

  • Extending a document in Adobe Acrobat if you have purchased and own LiveCycle Reader Extensions

I work for an organization that has purchased adobe livcycle designer suite which includes Livecycle reader extensions. However we do not really have a need (besides perhaps per the EULA), nor the technical support to extend reader documents using the server based LiveCycle Reader extensions. We will definitly be collecting info from over 500 receipients so per the adobe acrobat license agreement:
16.8.3 For any unique Extended Document, Customer may only (a) Deploy that Extended Document to an unlimited number of recipients, but Customer shall not extract data from more than five hundred (500) instances of such Extended Document (or any hardcopy representation of that Extended Document) that contains data from a recipient; or (b) Deploy an Extended Document to no more than five hundred (500) recipients without limits on the number of times Customer may extract data from a recipient from that Extended Document. Obtaining additional licenses to use Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, or Adobe Acrobat Suite shall not increase
the foregoing limits (that is, the foregoing limits are the aggregate total limits regardless of how many additional licenses to use Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, or Adobe Acrobat Suite the Customer may have obtained). For the avoidance of doubt, if Customer purchases another Adobe product or service that allows Customer to send a greater number of PDF files or forms (e.g. Adobe FormsCentral or Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions), then the terms of that Adobe product or service shall supersede the terms of this Section 16.8.3
Given the very last sentence, it sounds me like since my organization has provided me with a copy of LiveCycle Reader extensions I can extend the adobe document using adobe acrobat if I wish, and still be within the terms of the EULA, is this the correct interpretation? I would prefer not to actually use the LiveCycle reader extensions as once again we do not have the technical support, nor the need for this server based solutions.

    Hi Ben,
Thank you for providing the detailed description of the problem.
The contents of the password-protected PDF document are encrypted (so that nobody can read the contents until the correct password is entered).
Acrobat DC mobile products (for iOS and Android) have the known limitation where changes cannot be saved to encrypted PDF documents.  Therefore, users are not able to make any changes (e.g. adding comments/annotations or filling out forms) to encrypted PDF documents.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES, version 8.2, and supported client Flash versions

    Hello,
We are running Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES, Version 8.2.
We have a couple users that connect through IE (version 7) to create fillable forms.
Our companies standard version of Adobe Flash is 10.x
When we upgraded to 10.x, the users could no longer open (convert) a pdf to be able to make it fillable.  The fix was to down grade the Flash version to version 9.
Is there a better fix for this, as I have another user that requires access to the LiveCycle server but is running Flash 10, yet I would prefer not to downgrade them to Flash 9.
Hopefully the above explanation makes sense, as I am technical support versus being a LiveCycle user.
    Thanks!
    Chris

  • Can use adobe livecycle reader extensions es to compile adobe livecycle designer ES3 file?

    Hi ,
I am using livecycle designer ES and livecycle reader extensions es to create some PDF files. I want to use the new feature action builder, so I downloaded the designer ES3. After creating some new files, I tried to use livecycle reader extensions es (old version) to convert the file to add the saving function to adobe reader. It could not convert the file successfully and stuck at downloading the file page as the attached screen. Does that mean I have to upgrade livecycle reader extensions es to es3? Thanks in advance.

There were problems like this that were caused by a flashplayer security patch.  See https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/livecycle/ZRj27vcLXOI
My memory is a bit hazy on this, as it was three years ago.
There was a LiveCycle blog on this November 11, 2008
    http://blogs.adobe.com/livecycle/2008/11/livecycle_and_flash_player_10.html
Flash Player 10 broke the Reader Extensions sample application included with LiveCycle ES 8.0.1, and 8.2.1. When you use it, it will essentially hang. The workaround is to revert back to Flash Player 9 on those machines you use as LiveCycle clients.
This problem has been fixed in LC 8.2.1 SP3 as well as in ES2.
The key is to either upgrade your server or downgrade to an earlier (9) version of the flash player. (copying from the google group)
As you said, this issue is due to the changes in security in flash
player 10.  The Reader Extensions webUI leverages flex.  For LiveCycle
8.2.1, the file dialog automatically pops up after conversion is
complete.  However, in flash player 10, there were changes to how file
reference are is handled.  Since it is possible to pop up a file
dialog based on user action), and automatically poping up that file
dialog based on the old code base will no longer work.  This is a
known issue in LC ES 8.2.1, and downgrading to flash player 9 works.
However, in fix pack 2 of LiveCycle ES Update 1.  (8.2.1.2), this bug
on flash player 10 has been resolved with an explicit button to
    download the file.

  • How do I acquire LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES

To be able to extend features for Acrobat Reader when creating forms in LiveCycle Designer I gather I require LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES (atleast this is the answer in several posts). As an alternative, I could do this in Adobe Acrobat, but there seems to be a license issue with that product. If I decide to purchase LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES, how do I do that? Is it sold separately or does it come bundled with other SW? Grateful for any information on this, as I am unable to find any in all the product pages,
    Regards,
    Lars

LiveCycle Reader Extensions server is a server based product and is sold through Adobe sales people and partners. I woudl contact your local adobe office and ask to speak to a sales rep. Note that it is a server based product and is priced like one. Depending on what you want to do and how many people will be using your form you may want to look at buying Acrobat for each user (then there is no need for RE) or one copy of Acrobat if it has the correct rights for you to accomplish what you want. Note that the License agreement for Acrobat allows you to distribute a RE form (that was extended with Acrobat) to a max of 500 users. The server product does not have that limitation. The sales representative shoudl be able to help youmake the right decision.
    Hope that helps

  • LiveCycle Reader Extensions on Windows XP

I have noticed that the requirements for LiveCycle Reader Extensions do not list Windows XP (desktop) as a possible installation environment. This would be the ideal environment for me to run the software on as I will only use it every six months or so when forms are reviewed and it will be a right pain to find a suitable server that it can be installed on within this organisation.
With this in mind I can't figure out why it wouldn't run it in an XP desktop environment. It runs on a JBoss server and JBoss runs on XP and, although its not supported by Adobe, it should be possible to install OpenDS on XP as the LDAP directory server.
Has anyone tried a similar set up or is there anyone who can tell me why it isn't possible to run the Reader Extensions software on XP?
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi Valerio,
The LiveCycle Reader Extensions run-time environment consists of modules that are deployed to the J2EE application server, where the modules run as services. After you deploy the modules, you are ready to use the web application or the programmable APIs to select the usage rights that LiveCycle Reader Extensions will add to the PDF documents. The deployed modules and custom applications running on the J2EE application server work together to process the requests for the rights-enabled PDF documents and process the resulting data that is captured.
As long as the above requirements are satisfied Reader Extensions Server should have no problem working
    thanks
    George

  • Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions issue

    Hi all,
I have an issue about ARES. When I create a PDF file and use password to secure the document and “Changes Allowed” is set as “Commenting, filling in form fields, and signing existing signature fields”, the commenting doesn’t work and display the error as below:
    Warning: JavaScript Window-
This document is not enabled for review in Adobe Reader. You must use Adobe Acrobat to review this document.
Other documents which is not set password security can be commented normally. Please give me some advices.
    Any idea will be appreciated!
    Regards,
    Ryan

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for your reply! I have something unclearly. What is the “Apply Usage Rights” step do you mean? If it looks like the attachment shows, I think I can comment on the PDF file. However, after doing this, the PDF doc settings cannot be modified by Acrobat again.
If not, could you please tell me what is “Apply Usage Rights” step?
Actually, the issue occurred when I use Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions and EMC Documentum PDF Annotation Services together. Everything works fine exception password security settings. If I don’t use password settings, all commenting functionalities are work fine.
    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES Version 8 - res problem

We have been using Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES Version 8 to create forms that are used internally within the business, but also externally for customers to complete and email back to us.
We haven't created new forms for a while, but now when we log into the LiveCycle Reader Extensions Server User Interface and try to res a form, it just times out.
It gets to the process status, and then just stalls and says that it's downloading, but nothing actually happens. Any ideas on a fix?

  • Installation of Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2

    Hi,
Adobe has informed us that we need to use Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2 in stead of Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2. We had some doubts about the reason why, but that's a different issue.
Now, when we want to order Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2 we need to indicate on what application server we will install (IBM WebSphere / Oracle WebLogic / JBoss). However, I want to install it on a desktop pc. Can anybody explain me which of the 3 options I need to order? What is the difference?
    Thanks in advance!
    Erik

I am a contractor working with a national agency. I don't have rights to set up any sort of server on my PC at work, which runs Windows XP Professional -- NOT Windows Server as Adobe's tech specs indicate. At home, I use Windows 7 Professional.
Most of the PDF forms I set up only require users to type text in text fields, click check boxes, or decide "yes" or "no" in radio buttons. For those simple forms, have found that Acrobat Pro's "Enable Reader Features" allows users to fill out the form in Reader, save it to their hard drive, and attach it to an email to return the completed forms.
I know that this WON'T work if we include any data functions or buttons which run JavaScripts.  For example, one of my users wants a button that allows them to attach a file to the PDF. That button won't work in Reader unless I use LiveCycleReader Extensions to enable full functionality in Reader. Correct me if I have any of this wrong, so far. I am considering equipping one of my computers at home with LiveCycleReader Extensions to create these forms -- if they can be used independently of the server I have to set up on my home PC.
Would any forms created in LiveCycle Reader Extensions have to be returned to the server I would need to set up on my PC, or could users complete the froms, save them, and attach them to email as they do with the simple forms created in Acrobat?
You mentioned that Reader Extensions includes JBoss to set up a local server. Could I even install LiveCycle Reader Extensions on my PC if it only has Windows 7 Professional? Would it work on Windows 7 Professional?
(I already asked about setting up a server for these forms at work and was told "It'll never happen!"  My customers are reluctant to accept an answer that , "Yes, it is possible to enable these features but we are not allowed to do what it takes to make them work."

  • Livecycle Reader Extension ES

    Hello,
we need desesperatly informations about 'Livecycle Reader Extension ES' . Indeed, we need to make enable annotations on PDF with a command line tool and we have seen 'Livecycle Reader extension ES' could answer to our need but we don't know if it is the good product?
Is anyone have used this product?
    - what are the prerequisite ? OS, ...
    - what is the price for a license ?
Livecycle Reader extension ES seems to be a complex product so maybe another solution will be available?
    thanks
    Hervé

    Herve,
The platform requirements for Livecycle Reader Extensions ES can be found at
    http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/systemreqs.html
Since Livecycle Reader Extensions ES is a solution component of the Livecycle ES suite, the requirements that apply to Livecycle ES apply to Livecycle Reader Extensions ES.
In terms of pricing, you should take that up with a sales representative. You can be contacted by expressing your questions at
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=livecycle
In terms of ease of use, there are three ways to interact with Reader Extensions ES:
    1) through the web interface (you simply pick a PDF from the file system, select the options you want to enable, and save the form)
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/8.2/eu_readerext/000001.html
    2) through APIs
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/8.2/programLC/programmer/help/000001.html
    3) through process orchestration
