LiveCycle Replacement in CC

I cannot follow what has happened --
I have some forms used internally and mailed to customers that are 'filled' using XML output from some php routines I wrote. I need to update these forms but I am now using Creative Cloud and apparently I don't have access to Live Cycle Designer, except on an old machine I need to remotely log in to.  I just can't see how FormsCentral, now being withdrawn in July 2015 is a replacement, all I need to do is update the existing forms.
So the question is what have Adobe provided along with Acrobat Pro XI to support design of PDF forms that can be filled by importing an xml file?  Anything at all?
Best,
Peter

Hi g_miles33!
I wonder the exact same thing. I need to load an extension on startup (that is, not by the user triggering a menu item), and I can't find a way to do it. Have you (it's been almost 4 months since you posted)?
Does anyone know if/when the InDesign SDK may be updated to provide these functions?
Or will a new version of the Native Application Toolkit (surprisingly) be released?

  • ADOBE LiveCycle Desinger ES 8.2 Replacement

    I have ADOBE LiveCycle Desinger ES 8.2 installed on a Windows XP PC that has been replaced with a Windows 7 PC. I went to install the software on the new system and I am unable to locate the disks. I realize that this version of the program is seriously outdated but it still works for me.  How can I get a replacement either in download format or by CD?

    How did you get this software originally? It may have come with Adobe Acrobat. If you have Acrobat, chances are you can reinstall LiveCycle.

  • We were using Adobe Livecycle Designer 7.0 for creating forms, what is new product replacement?

    We were using Adobe Livecycle designer 7.0 (circa 2004) for creating our own dynamic forms.  The program has since failed to work, we cant locate the old disk.  What is the new product replacement that will allow us to build new forms from scratch with our own fields and data collection?

    LiveCycle Designer no longer comes with the Windows version of Acrobat Pro, but it can be purchased separately (soon): http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/tools/designer.html

  • Replacement for LiveCycle Designer

    I was informed recently by a client that Adobe is (will) be replacing LiveCycle Designer by a all new program, and it will be necessary to re-make all their forms with this new program, and they would rather use a contractor who is familiar with this new program.
    Considering, I follow what’s going on with LiveCycle, I find it hard to believe that there is a new program that Adobe is coming out with to replace LiveCycle Designer ES4.
    Could someone from Adobe confirm or deny the existence of this new program. My own opinion is that the new management just wishes to change contactors and is not being honest.
    Kind Regards
    Martin

    That is completely false.   There is no replacement for LiveCycle Designer ES4 and you will not have to remake you forms in some other tool.  Designer will continue to exist and be enhanced.  As you might know we just had a major release in March and a service pack release in Sept which included updates to Designer.
    Please contact me with a private message about where you heard this.   I'd like to reach out to your source and set them straight.

  • How do I write a specific IF statement in Adobe LiveCycle's FormCalc?

    I am trying to use an IF / ELSEIF  formula in FormCalc to autopopulate a text field in a table, but I keep  getting a syntax error.  Could someone please help?
    My table has 2 rows and 2 columns.  I named each cell (using Binding) in  Column 1 as Data1 and Data2 respectively.  Both cells in Column 1  contain a dropdown menu of numbers 1, 2, and 3.  I want to create a  FormCalc IF expression in Column 2 so that when the user selects a "1"  in the Data1 cell, the cell adjacent to it in Column 2 autopopulates to  "Yes".  Then if they select a "2", the adjacent cell becomes "No", and  if they select a "3", the adjacent cell is "Unknown".  Then, I want to  do the same thing for the Data2 cell and its adjacent cell in Column 2.
    Here is the expression that I've tried using for the first row (it  doesn't work).  (The second row in Column 2 [next to Data2] has the same  formula, except Data1 is replaced with Data2.)
    if (Data1 = 1) then
    "Yes"
    elseif (Data1 = 2) then
    "No"
    elseif (Data1 = 3) then
    "Unknown"
    endif
    Can anyone spot where my syntax error is and how to fix it?  I'd really appreciate it!  Thanks!

    Well thank you!  This actually pointed me in the right direction, however the adjacent cell is still not autopopulating depending on the number that is selected in Data1.
    I renamed the cells (in binding) for simplicity:
    Data1
    qqq1
    Data2
    qqq2
    I used this code (based on your code, just with minor tweaking):
    if (Data1.rawValue == 1) then
    qqq1.rawValue == "Yes";
    elseif (Data1.rawValue == 2) then
    qqq1.rawValue == "No" ;
    elseif (Data1.rawValue == 3) then
    qqq1.rawValue == "Unknown";
    endif
    Given the table above, with this code I do not receive an error like I did before with my erroneous code.  This part is good!  However, qqq1 still is not autopopulating to "Yes", "No", or "Unknown" when I select the different options in the dropdown of Data1.  I can't figure out what I am doing wrong!  I put the code into the Data1 cell, under the "exit" option and in the FormCalc language.  Do the cells need to be formatted a certain way?  Data1 and Data2 are both dropdown cells, and I have qqq1 and qqq2 as Text Fields with a Calculated-Read Only value.
    Is there something else that needs to be done?  I am a beginner at LiveCycle and the FormCalc language.  So any step-by-step help you can provide to the newbie will be extremely appreciated!  Thanks!  :-)

  • Created a 20 page fill-in the blank form with livecycle 8.0 and now page 20 needs updated.

    Created a pdf with acrobat 8.0 and used livecycle 8.0 to create a fill in the form document.  Now that I am at page 20, the lines i put in for a description for people who still use a typewriter should have been taken out for this document.  Is there any way to replace this page with a revised pdf page.  When I open the document in aapro and select document the insert page is not highlighted.  I know I have deleted and inserted pages before, but not one that went into livecycle.  Can it be done or do I have to start all over again?

    Since this PDF is based on a LiveCycle Designer template individual pages cannot be removed.  Can you not just go back into Designer and remove the page you don't want anymore and add in a new one?

  • How can I use a script in a Livecycle Designer form, to force display of text in Title Case?

    Hello,
    I am a 'novice' who is DIY'ing the construction of a dynamic pdf form, using Adobe Livecycle Designer 7 (I know, it's a VERY old version!)
    [So, any help that comes along must be 'for Idiots'!]
    I need to construct a code (Java script?) so that a few of my text-fields DISPLAY data in Title Case - IRRESPECTIVE of how the user types in the data.
    So, for example, in a "Address" text-field...
    If someone types in ..
    "205 sherborne avenue"
    - OR -
    "205 Sherborne avenue"
    - OR -
    "205 SHERBORNE AVENUE"...
    I need the data to be DISPLAYED ESSENTIALLY as...
    "205 Sherborne Avenue".
    I found the following code online, and tried it in the 'exit' event of the field I need to modify (with 'language' selected as JavaScript)...
    <   this.rawValue = this.rawValue.replace(/\b([a-z])/g, function (_, initial) {return initial.toUpperCase();});   >
    ... This did convert all the 'initial' letters of the words to Upper Case - AS LONG AS they were not ALL typed in Upper Case!
    So, that code worked for the first two of my samples for Sherborne Avenue above - but it did NOT work for the last one...
    That is, "205 SHERBORNE AVENUE" did NOT get converted to Title Case - which is what I need help with.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hey TundraSteve,
    Thanks a tonne!
    Works perfectly!!!
    In fact, your solution is so elegant and direct, that even I am beginning to get a sense of how it works... I have looked at LOTS of similar codes in the past few days, but was not at all getting a sense of how they are working! But comparing your solution with the earlier one I mentioned, I am beginning to get a sense of things!
    Any suggestions for what I should read-up in order to understand this king of coding?
    I have basically been using the built-in 'Help' - and, trial-and-error - and I have designed my first form - a pretty elaborate one, actually!
    So, it would be great if you could guide me through the 'learning curve' a bit!
    [I have figured-out the 'basics' - that is, I can lay out the form, use 'if-expressions' (FormCalc), trigger events, even build Subforms that are hidden but 'appear' when triggered by other actions, and so on. What I can't figure out are the various 'code languages' (syntax?) that are being used - like " var sometext", for eg.!]
    Cheers, and thanks again!

  • How to dynamically replace variables in SMARTFORM texts based on item data?

    Hi experts,
    I'm currently designing a confirmation of order using Adobe PDF forms. The general layout with tables, pictures and texts was not big deal.
    But one tiny bit doesn't work and I'm becoming more and more desperate about it.
    We need various free texts for our pdf form. I created the texts using smartform texts. Some of these texts need to be slightly dynamic, so I added some dynamic fields in it.
    For example:
         "The material is currently out of stock.You can expect shipping around week &num_week&."
    To replace the dynamic field &num_week& in my interface, I read that I have to name the dynamic field exactly like the corresponding field in my interface. In my case this would be now:
         "The material is currently out of stock.You can expect shipping around week &SLS_PRT_COM-ITEM_DETAIL-ZZ_EXTRAFIELDS-ZZWEEKNUM&."
    To see the text on my form, I added a text object with type 'text module' and the proper textname. Of course I'm able to insert text on my form, save and activate it without problems. But if I want to print the form, nothing happens as the print program exits with an error code.
    After some hours I found out that this problem only occurs if I'm trying to replace the dynamic field with a field from the item table. Using a field from head details or globals like sy-mandt works like a charm.
    So my question is: Is it possible to use item data to replace dynamic fields of a smartform text?
    Greetings and thanks in advance!
    André

    Hi
    Have a look at the links below:
    LiveCycle ES2 * Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2
    Using floating field in Adobe Forms to display text paragraph with dynamic variables in between
    After adding the floating field it will apeare in the hierarchy pallet above or bellow the text field.
    Good luck

  • Livecycle userform with dynamic table

    Hi Everyone,
    New to Livecycle Designer and was hoping this is possible - Can you have a PDF userform with a dynamic table below it?...
    Basically the user fills out a userform then clicks an ADD button - this populates a dynamic table below the userform then clears/resets the userform - as the records fill the table an EDIT button appears in the last column so that if the user makes an error with a record they could click the EDIT button, this would bring the record back into the userform fields so they could change the field(s) they made the error in then a SAVE button would replace the ADD button in this instance, clicking SAVE then changes the record and clears/resets the userform ready for more entries.
    At the bottom of the PDF there would be an EXPORT button which attaches the table as a csv or tab-delimited text file to an email message...
    If someone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated - I have googled and searched the forums for an answer but they mostly relate to importing data into a dynamic table from a database or xml file... I was hoping to directly populate the table with the userform.
    I also have a PDF example which illustrates what I am trying to achieve... but seems you cannot attach to a post... I can email it if someone has a solution, but needs to see it visually.
    Cheers

    You don't know the names of your columns? hmm you do, because before you created dynamic table you had to create field catalog, so the structure and column names of newly (dynamically) created table will be the same like defined in the field catalog.
    The last loop also does not look good, in my opinion should be something like:
    LOOP AT lt_datatable +(my first table)+ ASSIGNING <ls_data4>.
        AT NEW pernr.
          APPEND initial line to <fs_1> assigning <fs_2>.
          <fs_2>-pernr = <ls_data4>-pernr.
        ENDAT.
        ASSIGN COMPONENT <ls_data4>-wage_type OF STRUCTURE <fs_2> TO <fs_5>.
        <fs_5> = <ls_data4>-amount.
    ENDLOOP.
    also keep in mind that number of calls of method cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table is limited to 36 (?) calls within one program session because it uses dynamic subroutine pool behind so you will have short dump if you will execute that 37 times.

    how to find and replace data in form fields in acrobat xi, its not allowing to do so while trying, asking for adobe livecycle to get installed. please help.

    Easiest way to do it is the following:
    - Open the PDF file in Acrobat.
    - Go to Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Export Data.
    - Save the form data as an XML file somewhere on your system.
    - Open XML the file in a plain-text editor (I recommend Notepad++).
    - Let's say you want to replace all the years in the dates from "2013" to "2014". Do a global Search&Replace of "2013-" to "2014-" (I added the dash just to make sure that only date fields are edited).
    - Save the XML file (maybe under a new name).
    - Go back to the PDF file, and now go to Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Import Data.
    - Select the edited XML file and import it.
    - Done!

  • Where is Adobe LiveCycle?

    This morning I turned on my computer to discover that AdobeLiveCycle has been replaced with FromsCentral.
    When I try to import froms I have created with AdobeLive Cycle I get an error message that say I cant import the form because it is an XFA file, but they are PDFs.
    Where did LiveCYCLE go?
    How can I work with the forms I created in LiveCycle, so I do not have to recreate 8 years worth of forms?

    LiveCycle Designer doesn't come with Acrobat XI.

  • LiveCycle reinstalled - now doesn't work

    I'm following Adobe's 'Flex in a Week' tutorials.  Exercise 9 involves the download and installation of LiveCycle.<br /><br />I'm using Windows Vista.<br /><br />I installed LiveCycle once, and followed the instructions to view the testdrive.<br /><br />From the readme file opened at LCDS installation:<br /><br />>The Test Drive consists of a series of samples kept as concise as possible (typically between 10 and 50 lines of code). Its objective is to give you, in a very short amount of time, an understanding of how LiveCycle Data Services works and what it can do. To access the Test Drive, with your server running, go to:<br />><br />>http://<hostname>:<port_num>/lcds-samples/testdrive.htm<br />><br />>The testdrive displayed, as expected at:<br />>http://127.0.0.1:8400/lcds-samples/testdrive.htm<br /><br />It all worked fine, then I experienced some problems with the machine, and uninstalled LCDS.  I discovered the problem was entirely unrelated to LCDS, and installed it again.<br /><br />Since the 2nd installation, the testdrive hasn't worked again.<br /><br />I can see no indication that LCDS is working.<br /><br />Any suggestions?<br /><br />Thanks.

    That's a good idea.  In my case, I was able to solve the problem simply by doing a regular expression replace:
    "\bapp1\b" with "app2"; of course this is high risk as "app1" was all over the place in my particular project.  Also, the asset "xml" file needs to be renamed in app2 when copied to the adobe/config file to avoid a name collison (if one wants seperate app1 and app2 to work).  For me, this all worked; however, I could easily envision a project where all that renaming would cause problems, hopefully ones that would be readily traceable.  But thanks for the reply, it's always appreciated.

  • Need Acrobat Distiller but it is end of life, need a replacement product to run on windows 2012

    Need Acrobat Distiller but it is end of life, need a replacement product to run on windows 2012.  I have one software application 'Transform' that only needs to convert files to pdf and email to users.
    Which Adobe product runs on windows 2012 that will replace Distiller?

    Distiller is one of the programs available in the Acrobat Suite of programs. You must have an older version if it is at end of life. Do you have Distiller or Distiller Server. Distiller Server has been replaced by a LiveCycle Server product.

    Hi Hollyr,
    Certain PDF files (dynamic XFA forms) created in Adobe LiveCycle can only be opened in Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. When you try to open these files in an alternative PDF viewer, then you will see this error message.
    Unfortunately, it's not easy remove this message and modify the PDF so that it can be opened in alternative PDF viewers. The person who created the original form must re-create the form using options that do not restrict which PDF viewers can open and display the file.
    Adobe has made the decision that since very few non-Adobe products support these special PDF files, that it is better to show this message -- and require the user to download Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat -- than it is to let the PDF viewer try to render the document. You might want to ask the user to Reader-extend the documents so that you can view it with Adobe Reader.

    The user's assertion is surprising to me, but perhaps I'm missing something important. I thought the correct position was from the conclusion of my earlier post "it can't be done". Adobe state their Reader Touch doesn't support XFA (http://blogs.adobe.com/readermobile/2012/12/13/adobe-reader-for-windows-8-tablets/). Unless (see that blog entry) you changed the type of form.
