LiveType always this long to create proxy?

Dear all LiveTypers,
I hang around the Final Cut forums, but occasionally play around in LiveType. Lately I decided to add two Medieval fonts that are both 7 seconds long, and they take a while to playback in realtime on my 2.16Ghz. 17" MacBook Pro. My gripe isn't really with the timing, but my question is more why it's taking that long. Is it not making a proxy and rather rendering the full-quality file on the fly? In Final Cut, if the items I have in the timeline are too processor intensive, I can turn down the real time performance so they can all playback immediately, is that option in LiveType? Maybe as I begin to learn more about LT and it's capabilities, I'll do more in it, but until then I just like learning whatever I can so that if I ever need to use it I'll know how.
Thanks,
-Brian

To add:
Much of the real time performance of unrendered LT files inside FCP or Motion will depend on what they're doing in LT. Character animation, LiveFonts, effects., motion, drop shadows, and procedural mattes all add up to huge processing hits. Adding the shadwo in FCP instead of LT can, all by itself, be a huge speed increase.
Your sue of the term "proxy" suggests experience with other applications. You can export a still image from LTa and bring that in as a placeholder or you can go ahead and render the LT project and bring it in as a movie. These eliminate all preview hassles but they defeat the clever (if exasperating) link between the LT file and FCP's timeline. If you need to edit the LT file, you have to send a new rendered copy or still image back to FCP.

  • I can't believe it takes this long to create a DVD...

    Ok, I just bought a new Intel iMac 20" Dual Core 2.66 ghz with 2 gig of RAM and iDVD has been sitting on the Burn step with a message of "Writing..." for about 6 hours now.
    I've burned data DVD's before and it took about 45 minutes on my old PB G4 867 mhz.
    Is this thing hung, did I do something wrong, or does it take these insane amounts of time to burn a true DVD?
    Here are some stats on what I put on the DVD:
    215 photos as a slideshow with Dissolve transition
    1 MP3 files for background music
    5 small video clips I took with my digitial camera
    Used one of the standard themes

    You're not giving us enough information. Tell us more about the
    5 small video clips you took with your digital camera. What format were the movies originally taken in? How did you get these movies into iMovie?
    Was the original audio shot in 12 bit or 16 bit?
    and why are you using mp3 as opposed to aiff for audio? iDVD works best with aiff (mp3's are also possible but often more problamatic in iDVD).
    Essentially you have many potential variables as stated above that can cause iDVD to literally spin its wheels for hours on end before you ever get to a final product in terms of a completed iDVD.
    The iDVD Help Menu is your friend. Direct quotes follow:
    Preparing QuickTime movies to work with iDVD
    If your video-editing application can export to QuickTime, you can create movies that you can add to your iDVD project. iDVD supports most video or image files supported by QuickTime.
    QuickTime movies smaller than the standard DVD size of 720 x 480 (NTSC) or 720 x 576 (PAL) are scaled to fit the DVD window, which may decrease the image quality.
    For best results, in the QuickTime export settings of your video-editing application, choose NTSC-DV with a frame rate of 29.97 or PAL-DV with a frame rate of 25. Choose No Compression for audio and set the sample rate to 48 kHz.
    Not all QuickTime formats can be added to your iDVD project. For example, MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files, QuickTime VR movies, and movies with sprite or Flash tracks cannot be added.
    The following video and image formats are not supported in iDVD:
    Copyrighted or protected videos.
    Movies saved in thousands of colors using the "none" compression setting in iMovie.
    48-bit color images (16 bits per color). To use source files in one of these formats in iDVD, save them in a supported format.
    Aurora uncompressed files. For best results, export Aurora clips as DV-format video before importing them into iDVD.
    QuickTime VR, MPEG-1 or MPEG-2, Flash, streaming or encrypted movies, or QuickTime spanned movies. You can't add MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files to an iDVD project because they don't contain standard video tracks.
    Adding sound to a slideshow
    Adding a soundtrack to a slideshow can enhance the mood or tone of the slideshow, provide information, or tell a story. You can use a recorded voiceover, a song or entire playlist from your iTunes library, or music you composed in GarageBand. You can also use any audio files that QuickTime supports (including AIFF/AIFC, Audio CD, AAC, MP3, WAV, and MPEG-4).

  • Order status, is the upgrade wait always this long?

    i upgraded my fios internet from 15/2 to 25/15 about a week ago.  My order status date shows 9/28 and 75% complete.  I'm wondering if it's possible to speed up this process or do i just wait untill 9/28 for the upgrade to take effect?  Thanks in advance

    Chances are that they are waiting for your billing cycle. End one month at one speed and start the next on the new speed. You could probably contact CS and see if they can change the date on the order, but I'd probably just wait and avoid any issues from contacting CS.

  • Library Backups No Longer Being Created in 10.1.2

    No matter what I do, Library Backups are no longer being created in 10.1.2. This is happening on all 6 of my production Mac Pros and iMacs. I can change the location of the Library Backup folder, but nothing is ever created in the new location. It's as if FCPX no longer knows how to backup libraries.
    Some background...
    We are working with Libraries and Media files on our XSAN Volume.
    OSX 10.9.3
    FCPX 10.1.2
    We did not notice the Backups were not being performed until one of our Libraries had an issue and we could not find a single Backup of the library.
    What I have tried...
    Move Libraries to Local System Volume - Still No Backups.
    Change Library Backup Location - Still No Backups.
    Toggle Library Backup Location to No Backups and then Back to Backups - Still No Backups.
    Ensure Proper Permissions on Library Backup Folder - Still No Backups.
    Trash FCPX Preferences - Still No Backups.
    ReInstall FCPX - Still No Backups.
    I am at a loss at what to do next. I can't even see the backup process happening in console, or any errors that might give me a clue as to why it's not working. Short of trying to reinstall Mac OS on one of my production macs, I see no other alternative. Considering I'm having this issue across our entire production system, I'm wondering if this is a very serious FCPX 10.1.2 bug.
    Is anyone else having these issues????

    Tom Wolsky wrote:
    Definitely not working as advertised. I made a new library. Imported some stuff. Futzed around. No backup. Waited more than an hour. Made a new project and always immediately a backup appeared.
    I've had pretty much the same results trying to sort out what is going on since the 10.1.2 update regards Library Backups.
    I'm getting no backups with newly created Libraries like others, tried all sorts of juggling acts in the new settings arrangement trying to find a way in.
    What I have so far discovered is that Libraries are not created until a Duplicate Project is created of the original Project for the Library, then it appears to do as expected.
    Seems like a bug.
    Hope other users can confirm this.

  • PSE7: create proxy images manually

    Hello,
    I'm evaluating PSE7. Is there some "normal" way of creating proxy images manually?
    I have all my photos on external USB drive, which is disconected most of the time. Unfortunalety, PSE7 identifies it as "normal" HDD and disables option of creating proxy images.
    The only workaround I've managed to do is:
    - Import one of the photos from USB drive.
    - Edit PSE DB using SQLite Database Browser and set "type" value for my external drive in volume_table to "removable_disk"
    - copy photos from removable disk to "normal" disk
    - import photos from "normal" disk
    - choose "copy/move to external disk" and move photos to their original location. Proxy images are created and I can use them for sorting.
    But that's not the way I'd like to be working with PSE7. And I have more than 20 G of photos on external USB HDD, so copying / moving is not so easy.
    Should I look for another software?

    You could speed up your workflow for photos that already exist on the external drive by doing:
    1. Modify the catalog database to indicate that the external drive is removable, as you've done. You only need to do this once.
    2. Do File > Get Photos And Vides > From Files And Folders and navigate to the exernal drive.
    3. In the Get Photos dialog, uncheck the option Copy Files On Import. Make sure Generate Previews is checked.
    4. Do the import.
    For new photos, you also have the option of downloading them first to your C drive and then using File > Copy/Move To Removable Disk, as I think you know already.
    As you've discovered, the PSE archiving option and proxies/previews were  designed for archiving to optical media.   When Adobe rearchitected the internal catalog implementation for PSE 6, they really didn't finish the job, and there all sorts of rough edges and bugs, of which the one you found is just one of many.
    By the way, I'd be very leary of relying on archiving in general.  A number of people who have upgraded their catalogs from previous versions have found that their archived photos are no longer accessible from the catalog, and Adobe has provided no help in fixing their catalogs.   This indicates to me that Adobe really isn't serious about supporting such a feature and that future releases of PSE may leave you similarly screwed.

  • Long time creating execution plan on wide table

    When executing a select on a wide table, with a column set and sparse columns, it always takes 12 seconds or longer to create the execution plan, even on an empty

    PARAMETERIZATION FORCED’ but it does not resolve the issue. We also tried ‘INDEXED

  • This is already a proxy session Error

    Hello,
    I've been trying to get the proxy user working properly using the Server Session Uses Main Connection and Each Client Session Uses a Separate Pooled Nonexclusive Proxy Connection configuration.
    Things were sort of working when I was using the native data source. By sort of working I mean the writes to the database were sent via the proxied connection, the way they were supposed to. However, there was no connection pool used and performance was VERY BAD. I switched to a connection pool, but now I get the exception below. I am also attaching other relevant code. I use Spring with the ToplinkTransactionController. The exception occurs when I try to do an update (in a transaction) selects work fine. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Error While Creating Proxy in SPROXY

    Hi All,
    We Created one Packagewith NAme ZPACK1 in SE80.
    While Creating Proxy in SPROXY TC, it is Asking Package & Prefix
    We gave Package as ZPACK1 & Prefix as ZPREFIX.
    Then One Error is Comming Like <b>"Package ZPACK1 has no use access to package interface SAI_TOOLS"</b>
    Please let me Know the Solution for this Error.
    Regards
    Bopanna

    Hi,
    The packages that contain or use proxy objects must have a use declaration for the package interface SAI_TOOLS. In addition, the corresponding structure package must contain a use declaration for the package interface SAPPINT.
    For the proxy runtime, a use declaration must be available for the package interface SAI_SXMS.
    Generating Proxies By Using Transaction SPROXY
    1. Call transaction SPROXY in the system in which you want to generate a client or server proxy.The system displays a navigation tree on the left-hand side of the screen; it has the same structure as the interface maintenance tree in the Integration Builder. The interface objects are ordered according to software component version, namespace and object type
    If no connection to the Integration Repository exists, the system only displays
    interface objects in the tree structure for which a proxy exists in the system.
    2. Choose an interface object for which no proxy already exists. To create a proxy for this interface object, double click the context menu Create Proxy.
    3. In the dialog box, specify the name of the package where you want to create the proxy objects. You can also specify a prefix for the names of all objects to be created to avoid naming conflicts with names that already exist in the system.
    Other way.. try this :
    Generating Proxies  By Using the Object Navigator (Transaction SE80).
    1. Call the Object Navigator (transaction SE80) in the system in which you want to
    generate a client or server proxy. Select a package and call the context menu. Choose Create &#8594; Enterprise Service / Web Service &#8594; Proxy Object.
    2. In the subsequent dialog window, choose the source of the WSDL document (URL/http destination, local file, UDDI  or XI Repository).
    If you choose XI Repository as the source of the WSDL document, the hierarchy of the software component versions in the Integration Repository is displayed in the
    subsequent window. The interface objects are ordered according to software
    component version, namespace and object type . Choose an interface object for which no proxy already exists and confirm by choosing Copy.
    3. In the subsequent dialog window, enter the name of the package where you want to create the proxy objects. You can also specify a prefix for the names of all objects to be created to avoid naming conflicts with names that already exist in the system.
    Hope this will help you a bit.

  • Cannot create Proxy service with JCA transport

    Hello everyone.
    I have some issues while trying to create ftp service with jca transport. I follow the instruction in this tutorial:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/MarkSmith/entry/osb_and_ftp_adapter_in_11g
    I stuck in Step 4, cannot create proxy service to use JCA file that I created by JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.5). When I specify jca file for proxy service, a error message returned:
    <ALSB Console> <BEA-494002> <Internal error occured in OSBConsole : Transport exception occurred with the following message:
    Invalid JCA file for JCA proxy service. If you are creating a Proxy from a Business Service, please select a different transport type (for example, http). If not, JCA file must contain JCA activation spec properties.And these are my jca file content that created by JDeveloper:
    <adapter-config name="myJCA_FTP_service" adapter="FTP Adapter" wsdlLocation="myJCA_FTP_service.wsdl" xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">
      <connection-factory location="eis/ftp/MyFtpAdapter"/>
      <endpoint-interaction portType="Put_ptt" operation="Put">
        <interaction-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.ftp.outbound.FTPInteractionSpec">
          <property name="PhysicalDirectory" value="/home/FTP-shared/upload"/>
          <property name="FileType" value="ascii"/>
          <property name="Append" value="false"/>
          <property name="FileNamingConvention" value="osb_%SEQ%"/>
          <property name="NumberMessages" value="1"/>
        </interaction-spec>
      </endpoint-interaction>
    </adapter-config>Is there anyone who had tried to use JCA transport with Ftp adapter already? Please give me a suggestion.
    Any response is appreciated
    Regards, Cuong Pham

    To get to the basics.
    You use GET to read files from an FTP location - This can be done by an OSB proxy service only.
    You use PUT to write files to an FTP location - This can be done by an OSB business service only.
    So forget that you need a proxy service for PUT.

    Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
    Back up all data.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
    Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
    from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
    Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
    Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • How can i create proxy service from another proxy on different domain

    i have a demo webservice. it has many operations on proxy service's message flow. How can i create proxy service from demo's wsdl on different domain
    Edited by: fresh man on Jul 1, 2012 11:17 PM

    You can either export the WSDL in a sbconfig.jar and then import this sbconfig.jar in the new domain. Then you can create a new Proxy in new domain based on the WSDL you imported.
    Alternatively, you can open the WSDL in the old domain, copy the text content of WSDL, then open new domain sbconsole and create a new WSDL type resource and paste the content you copied from old domain WSDL here. Then you can create a new Proxy Service based on this WSDL resource you created.
    Although, may I ask why do you need to create this new Proxy Service on a different domain? If you want to create a service similar to existing Proxy Service on different domain, then you can export the existing proxy service along with any dependencies to a sbconfig.jar and them import them in any other domain.
    If you want your new Proxy Service to invoke the existing Proxy on different domain, then you need to create a Business Service in the new domain (calling domain) which can invoke your existing Proxy service in other domain.
