Livetype double installation

I'm upgrading to final cut studio and following the usual process, but after inserting the Livetype media 1 disc (upon installer request), a window with the installation icon - the yellow brownish box - popped out. I noticed installer had already started installing elements from LT Media 1, but I nevertheless clicked the icon, which prompted a second installation, started as soon as the first ended. As far as the first installation was concerned, I wasn't asked the destination; the 2nd allowed me to choose the destination and I confirmed the usual 'Application Support' path.
How can I be sure that the material has been installed twice and not installed overwriting the previoius stuff?
and how can I proceede to trash the useless material without affecting FCP S functionalities?
Thanks
G5 1.8 DP   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

Thank you, not a predicament but...
I've just - too late - read the pdf coming with the FCP installation disc and here's an excerpt
The discs you insert while installing Final Cut Studio include their own
individual installers, which the Finder displays.
Do not
click anything in a disc’s Finder
window; instead, only follow the Final Cut Studio installer’s prompts. Starting an
individual disc’s installer while the Final Cut Studio installer is still running may cause
an incomplete Final Cut Studio installation and may require you to start again.
The installation has in fact started again - what will happen nnow? I of course do not want doubles, I hope the previous stuff will be automatically discarded or overwritten.
I also noticed that compressor was greyed out in the installation disc, any idea why it was not possible to install it?
thanks again

  • CC 2014 double installation sucks ***

Does anyone agree with me that CC 2014 double installation, difficulty of removing the old CC versions, and the loss of add-ins, Arial Narrow and other issues suck ***?

I whole-heartedly agree, Adobe's creative cloud products — especially their installers, uninstallers and command-line utilities (CLI for end-uses?!) — clearly suck ***, big-time. Too bad the Patent Police keep everyone mindlessly subjugated.

  • Double installation (laptop and desktop) team

as team member, does the members have still the opportunity to have a double installation (lap top and desktop) ?

So just to clarify this: like the OP: I use CC on my MacBook Pro and Mac Pro at home. At work, I had been using a 2009 iMac with CS5 installed on it. I just got them to let me buy a brand-new iMac, and I'd like to install CC on that.
So, is my assumption correct that I can install CC on 3 computers, and as long as it's only activated on 2 of them at any given time, it's fine?
Thanks for any info you can give me.

  • Double installation : muvo v200 and zenmi

    Hi ,
    I'm new in mp3 player world and i bought one creative player : muvo v200 and installed it correctly;
In a second time i bought a Zen Micro and i wonder if i must install it with CD or simply connect it ?
If i install the Zen micro with cd , the first player muvo v200 will be recognizable as it does ?
And then i can use both players without any problems ?
    thanks in advance for answers
    Christian

You should always install the software from all your product CDs. Don't worry about double installation. The installation program will know whether to overwrite the files. For example, if the software that came with the Zen Micro is newer, than it will overwrite the same software that came with the MuVo v200. Different product CDs may also install different plugins for your different MP3 players.

  • Double installation of CS6 programs

I recently installed the Design and Web Premium Suite (academic) on a computer running Windows 7 64 bit. I'm pretty sure I selected standard installation. I just noticed that I appear to have dual instances of Bridge, Illustrator, and Photoshop, one of each identified as 64 bit and the other not. Is this right? If not, how would I best go about making it right.

    Hi
As the number of bits increases there are two important benefits.
More bits means that data can be processed in larger chunks which also means more accurately.
More bits means our system can point to or address a larger number of locations in physical memory.
32-bit systems were once desired because they could address (point to) 4 Gigabytes (GB) of memory in one go. Some modern applications require more than 4 GB of memory to complete their tasks so 64-bit systems are now becoming more attractive because they can potentially address up to 4 billion times that many locations.
i would keep both 64-32 on my computer.
    Hope it helps
    Thanks

  • Double installation Mavericks

    Hi,
My MacBook Air crashed as a result of a firmware issue this generation had. As a result I took it to the Mac Shop and they fixed it, but also they installed Mavericks; but they did it with some CD's (or I don't know what) that they had there in order to do it quick. I was happy with this solution until I discovered that the app store actually keeps inviting me to download Mavericks. This bothers me because I feel my computer "doesnt know" that it's already installed. Also, It installed iTunes TWICE. Do I have iTunes twice in my computer? And...
... could all this be the reason why my iPod Touch (iOS 7) and my MacBook Air are not syncing? I'm using a gmail account and I have done everything right but just can't get it to work.
    Thank you and looking forward,
    Carlos

McAfee will do nothing to protect your email account from being hacked. There being only a handful of trojan-horse programs and no viruses or worms yet in the wild for OS X, I think McAfee an unnecessary drain on your system, and I concur with Pete that McAfee is quite likely at least a contributor to your performance problems. I've seen that happen and had the problems disappear when I stripped off McAfee.
As to the storage after the second installation, again, it's highly unlikely that you have a duplicate copy of OS X on your system. If you're running low on disk space, I'd suggest you get a disk storage analyzer such as DaisyDisk and have it give you a report as to what's taking up the space on your drive.
    Regards.

  • Double installation and installation on a new PC

Hi, I have a subscription for photoshop in Creative Cloud. I have two questions. 1) is it valid just for one PC or can I have it on desktop and laptop as well? 2) if I buy a new pc how can switch the software from the old to the new one? Thanks, Ciao

  • Logic 9 Installer Quits between disks

After completing installation of the main Logic DVD disk , the Installer asks for Jam Pack 1 and then Quits/Crashes before the Jam Pack 1 has started loading.
You then have to load the original installer etc... but how do you know what has been loaded on already? The Installer does not 'remember' your choices?
This has happened twice and I have tried to uncheck the boxes of the Main Installation stuff which is already assumed to be on..
How do you check exactly what has been installed?
    Thanks
    M S

You have to look for receipts for the stuff. Everything that is installed via an installer creates a receipt at the end of the install process.
    They are in Library/Receipts
You need to delete receipts when you delete the app it belongs to, or you will not be able to reinstall that app. The installer looks at the receipts folder to see what is already installed - to avoid double installs.
    regards, Erik.

  • LiveType 1's Bundled Effects?

This is probably a no-brainer question, but for some reason I can't find any answers online. I have Final Cut Studio 1.5 installed and for hard drive clearance space, had to move all LiveType 1 media to an external hard drive about a year ago. Upon using LiveType this week for the first time since, I found that all LiveFonts, Objects, Textures and Effects were empty, so I deleted the media folder and reinstalled from the two media discs that were bundled with Final Cut Studio. Everything seems to be working fine now, but the Effects tab in the media browser is still empty and when I check the actual folder under Application Support, there is no Effects folder. Maybe my memory is shot, but I was almost certain LiveType 1 came bundled with different effects. Does LiveType 1 come with bundled effects?
PS, When I reinstalled the LiveType media, on the install screen, it mentioned nothing about effects. It seems unlikely that the program would come without effects, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

    Zk,
It was only yesterday I reinstalled Media Disc 1 & 2 the second disc takes less time than the first, (well it did in my experience). However, I have found that some of the templates dont load correctly, e.g some parts of the animations are missing. Upon loading a template, LiveType will ask if I want to search for the missing element from that template but the file just simply wont exist in the directories. Since you have having a similar problem my guess is that there is a problem with the LiveType media installer.
Im in the middle of a project right now and making do without it but if I were you I'd try renistalling the LT Media Discs (both of them) again.
Sorry I could be any more informative but perhaps someone else will add to this with some more positive info?
    good luck.

  • "No such interface supported" JRE 1.4 Win2000 install error

During installation of the latest JRE (j2re-1_4_0-win-i.exe) onto a friends PC I get the following message:
(during the "preparing the installshield wizard" part of the install)
"An error occurred while parsing command line arguments or reading setup.ini - No such interface supported."
Now, Nigel's PC used to have win95 on it - he couldn't get the thing to network with a win2000 computer so win200 was installed over win95 (I'm 85% sure that win95 wasn't fully deleted from the PC first).
It's easy to assume that the error is caused by the double installation of the windows OSs, but I was wondering if this is maybe a problem with the install shield itself.
Has anyone seen this type of error before, or know of a possible solution. (I'm about to tell him to simply reinstall win2000 from scratch)
    cheers
    Ray

InstallShield seems to refer to this problem in the following
    knowledge base article

I searched for "No such interface supported".

  • Use Time Machine to Migrate Apps or Re-Install Anew?

I bought a new 15" MacBook Pro a month ago and have used Migration Assistant to move all my files from my external drive, which were backed up from the old computer via Time Machine to this drive.  I have been advised that this is a BAD IDEA, and that I should re-install my old software onto the new computer, and only use the migration assistant for moving DOCUMENT files to the new computer. Prior to receiving this advice, I had pro-actively reinstalled my entire Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection to this new computer's application folder, so the entire suite is installed on my new computer.  The Creative Suite has now been installed on the new computer, and is also sitting on the new computer via the Migration Assistant process which brought EVERYTHING from the old computer to the new.
Should the Creative Suite Files in the Applications folder, which migrated via Migration Assistant, be REMOVED since they were already reinstalled on this new computer?  Does anyone have some advice about this? I had heard that software should always be "REINSTALLED" as oppose to "copied" onto a new computer...
    Thanks for any advice!!

    wait, i'm not understanding something.
you say that you installed (via install disc) your whole suite AND migrated your apps over, so you have a double installation???
i just wiped out my boot drive and re-installed everything manually (to clean up and prepare for LION upgrade, plus get rid of some apps...migration assistant brings EVERYTHING OVER, which is annoying, so the only way to leave stuff out was to start fresh and only install what i wanted).
the first thing you should do is open up each version of each application to see which ones the licenses are tied to.  in some CS installs, you have to de-authorize a version before you can install another version.  it's possible that one version will work and the other one won't.
in any case, i think having 2 versions in the app folder doesn't really matter, it just takes up extra space.  you only want one version (whichever one works) anyway.  in my particular instance, i have a site license, so i can install it wherever without the de-authorization problem.
i've succesffully migrated using migration assistant as well as copied a bootable clone back to my machine.  it's definitely cleaner to do a fresh re-install, but i think it might be too late for that since you double-installed.
again, figure out which version works.  if they both work, you could probably get rid of either one.  all the plists and application support files, plug-ins should be for the migrated version if you accumulated those things over time before you mirated over.  just make sure that those are tied to the version that works and get rid of the other.

  • LiveFonts - Not installed

    Hi
I've been trying to use the LiveFonts in LiveType, but they are always showed "--" in the Installed status for all LiveFonts. Texture and other content are also not Installed. The 2 buttons, Install and Uninstall, in the Media Manager are all disabled.
Reference to the advise in other discussion tracks on LiveType, I have re-run the LiveType Media Installation DVD twice and the problem is still not resolved. I have searched for the LiveType Content folder in the Application Support folder, but its no-where to be found. I really wonder where has those content from the LiveType Media DVD goes to. I hope that Apple have not given us these contents in the Installation package and let it sleep somewhere deep in the Mac's harddisk.
I would appreciate someone out there who have gone through and resolved the issue or an Apple's tech support could help to advise on the solution. Thanks.
    Rgds
    Vincent

Never mind.  I just reinstalled them and have all 52.  Sorry but I was in another panic.

  • Enterprise Provisioning for OEL 5.X

Before I go too deep, I'm trying to find some others that are using OEL (especially v5.X) in large installations. I've been charged with coming up w/ a coherent provisioning system, and I'd like to see if the problems I've been having are being encountered by others.
So: Maybe I've missed the boat on the better way to do things, but we're downloading the various ULN channels I'm interested in via repo_populate, and using them as repos in kickstarts.
I'd prefer to not have to download all the CD's, and host them on another box just to PXE boot my systems. I've gotten pretty far down this path, and have managed to extract from the 1st cd the files needed to pxe a system (plus a xen system), without a double installation. (and yet, I still have anaconda throwing one error I have to manually bypass. Still not happy with that.)
I'd like to get an idea of how the rest of you are provisioning your servers.

Have a look at this link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/htdocs/yum-repository-setup.html

i see many experience the same problem however hp do nothing about it
    what gives
    any suggestions
    every thing else runs okay

    ronalds173,
I am sorry you are having an issue with your Printer Assistant. Click and download the patch below and it should resolve this issue for you.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/sclitefileassociation/SCLiteFix_299026.exe
As far as the double installation goes, I would uninstall all the HP printer software and reinstall using the download from the HP website.

  • VMWare & Bootcamp Using Same Partition?

Is it possible to use both VMWare and boot camp to open the same windows partition? I'm running CAD and high-graphics programs, and would like to use VMWare for those quick tasks and reference to my work, but to use boot camp to do the more major projects. I vaguely remember that you can set up boot camp to import an existing windows partition or something like that, but what I want would be opening the same partition from either at will, not syncing between the two.
    Thanks

I used VMWare before I changed to Parallels. I haven't upgraded VMWare but the version I used would not use BootCamp space. I had to instal apps twice and have to shut down OSX to restart in BootCamp. However, the latest version of VMWare may enable you to open BootCamp direct.
Parallels does access the apps and documents in Boot Camp, and when you start Parallels you can choose to use either Boot Camp or Parallels (afaik no double installations either). Opening up BootCamp is a bit slower than opening up Windows via Parallels and you will be asked for your password too.
It's a lot easier to have BootCamp open and to keep the Mac open as well. I switch off Windows' access to the Internet, just using my Mac for all external links.
