LiveView on Droid X, Text Messaging Doesnt Display

Hi All,
   I got a LiveView last week and so far on my DroidX everything seems to work about as well as I expected, EXCEPT Text Messaging never displays on the LiveView.
This was a major feature I hoped would work even if some of the other less important ones didnt.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get Text Messages to display on a DroidX?
Ive tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to make any difference.
I really like the concept of the LiveView and would like to see it develop rapidly.

ISSUE RESOLVED!!
EXPLANATION OF ISSUE (FOR SONYERICSSON TECHNICIANS TO FIX IT THE RIGHT WAY)
The problem you are having is a common one for Droids on Verizon's CDMA network, as well as Rogers in Canada and Sprint PCS.  Its just another form of the SMS time offset issue that's been plaguing us all for years...
for some stupid reason, the CDMA network timestamps all messages in GMT, rather than the local timezone
This issue is annoying, and should have been fixed in the verizon distributions of android a long time ago, but it is compounded by a confusing programming choice made by Sony Ericsson:
Inside the dex file of the apk, in "com/sonyericsson/exttras.liveview/LiveViewService$9.class" on line 31 (ignoring blank lines and comments), there is a test run on the timestamp... (the exact code is "if (l1 > l2)")...  THIS TEST FAILS ON ALL CDMA PHONES WITH THE TIMEZONE BUG
I'm not sure why they were working it that way, but they should have simply tested to see if the message was newer than the last message received... they apparently did not.
HOW TO MAKE IT WORK (WITHOUT MODIFYING THE APK FILE)
install SMS Time Fix from the market, and set the offset method to "timezone".  This fixes the issue, as well as issues with message order in restored backups.

    Hi, HPYUNBDAY! Are you only getting this behavior with the text messages? Have you tried checking the messaging settings of the phone specifically the incoming notifications?
    I'm not sure if it's actually possible to disable the notification for text messages. It's possible with the mail messages though. You can go to E-mail > Settings > Incoming Notifications.

  • Hi, can anyone advise me how i can stop any texts messages from displaying on the front screen of my mobile plz? despite my iphone requiring a password to get into it , texts can still be read from front screen.

    Settings > Notifications and turn off the ones you don't want.

  • Droid Bionic text messages going to wrong people

    I have had my Droid Bionic for several months now. It is not rooted and I don't download tons of apps on my phone. I don't use netflix to watch movies or download music. The apps I have are mainly to help me with work. So I'm not app happy just downloading things non stop. This is why I'm confused and irritated. My Bionic has started sending text messages to the wrong people! I had this issue with my Droid X which is why I switched to the Bionic, hoping that after all these years of making smart phones motorola, google and verizon would put a phone out there that actually works like it's supposed to. How much practice do these phone companies need to get their OS right? I don't mind paying a lot of money for something that will make my life a little easier but I get very irritated paying a lot of money for something that doesn't work the way it's supposed to...and at the most inappropriate times. The Bionic has gone from helping to adding to my daily hassles. Is anyone else having issues with text messages going to the wrong people on their Bionics? Have you found a way to fix it? I'm also getting error messages that just started about a week ago...com.motorola.main.service has stopped and then a option to forceclose. The tech support person at Verizon sounded like he had never seen a smart phone before and gave me the Verizon standard technical reply..."do a factory reset". I should not have to reset anything on a NEW Phone! Why don't you fix these problems Google, Motorola and Verizon and in a timely manner?! I know for a fact if I didn't pay for my phone as promised or pay my bill as promised I would suffer the consequences immediately! You cell phone companies are all about getting your money and leaving us customers out here hanging and irritated. If you think my feelings are misguided then feel free to prove me wrong. FIX THESE ISSUES AND FIX THEM IN A TIMELY MANNER! BETTER YET, PUT OUT A PRODUCT THAT WORKS AS PROMISED IN YOUR ADS!     Go into your settings, Messages and turn on iMessage. It will then send messages that are iMessages to both your iPad and iPhone. You can also turn off this feature on the iPad if you do not want to receive messages on the iPad.

  • When I receive text messages, it displays phone number instead of contact name.

    I updated to iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 over the weekend. Since updating to iOS 5, all of my text messages show up with a phone number listed instead of the contacts name. I checked my contact info and all the contact information is listed and the numbers under the contact are correct. Has anyone else had this issue and if so have you discovered any resolutions?

    Following a tip from another poster, I was able to fix the issue (temporarily).
    This worked for me on Verizon.
    I dialed *228 on my Verizon phone. I pressed "1" to activate it over the air. I then went into task manager and killed all the running apps.. Waited a few minutes.
    The next text I got displayed the number correctly!.. Until I rebooted, that is.
    Ps. PLEASE, call Apple and speak with a senior engineer on this. They can't fix it if they don't know it's a problem! (800) MY-IPHONE

  • Droid Eris Text Messaging

    Installed Handcent SMS text messaging on my Droid Eris.  It works fine but now I receive two messages.  One on Handcent SMS and one on the standard Droid Eris operating system.  How can I receive only the Handcent SMS message?  Is there away to stop the other notification?  Thanks

    Go into your stock messaging app, hit menu>settings, and turn off notifications.  All your messages will actually still show up in the stock app, but at least it won't bother you about it.  Also, pick any contact from your contact list, long press on the contact, choose send message and an option will pop up asking which app you would like to use.  Check use by default box then choose Handcent (you don't actually have to send them a message, but this is one more step to stop your stock app from trying to start up.)

    Hi.  When I receive a text, the display only shows the person's phone number, not their name.  These people are in my contacts.  Is this a setting that I've missed?  How can I have the phone display the name instead of the number?

    I have a Q50 and cannot seem to get the text messages to display to the car screen, the manual states the phone must support MAP(messge access profile) how can I check this on my phone?

    I have been experiencing this issue for the last few weeks and it is extremely annoying.  I've called Verizon 7 times and have gotten nothing but the run around.  What's even more annoying is hearing them say there will be a software coming out to correct the problem but they don't know when.  I'm very disappointed in Verizon.  I've been with them for many years.  They were my first and only carrier.  I will definitely not be taking this lying down.  I'm going to get a resolution, and if that means leaving Verizon, then so be it.  And if anyone from Verizon is reading this, PLEASE DO NOT offer up another apology.  I don't want another apology, I want this issue to be corrected, NOW!!

    You can give a try this.
    Within the screen you are calling give keyword
    Leave to list processing
    and then you can give whatever colors which are there in SAP
    For making the text bold you can set Format intensified on or off depending on your requirement.

  • Caller ID and Text Messaging Alerts

    Does anyone know if there is an App. or board where I can suggest one be made that will tell you if you have say an incoming call or text message without displaying the number etc. I've turned off the text message preview feature which still displays the number from where a text came from , likewise for incoming calls. I find this intrusive if I put my phone down anyone can pick it up and view my business even if the phone is locked.

    i hv checkd all the paths are correct.How to solve this prblm

    How are you getting it to display the images?
    Do you get a red x to indicate broken image?
    Right click it, select properties and see what the requested URL is. Is it correct?
    Most probably you are using an absolute link, without taking the web application context name into account

  • Z10 won't display text message

    Hi,
    I upgraded the Z10 to the latest realse  10.2.1.2179  .   After the upgrade i am not receiving the TEXT meaage under "Text Messages"  . When i select the TEXT Mesages it always says "No entries in this view" , but the TEST messages are available in HUB .     I tried by removing the battery , sim and everything it doesnt work.
    I want it to be fixed immediately , because it very difficult to see the text message in the HUB.

  • Droid X2 text & voice message notification

    Is there anyway to set my Droid X2 to notify me when I receive a text message and voice message?  My phone only displays the icon at the top right & that doesn't help when I am not looking at it.  I cannot find answer in the online manual. Thanks!

    Yes.  (ooh, a bad flashback, sorry, I'm better now....)
    In Voicemail, go to Voicemail, click the menu button (the button on the bottom left of the phone. Click settings. From there, you can turn on the voicemail notification and select which notification tone you wish to hear when you are notified of a voicemail.
    In text messaging, it depends on which app you are using, the stock messaging ap or another 3rd party app from the market. But getting the notifications turned on is gonna work kinda the same (yeah, that was coherent, eh?).  
    Open whatever messaging app you are using, and on the main page, click that wonderful menu button at the bottom left of the phone. A settings menu for the messaging app will open and somewhere in that settings menu will be a place to turn on and off the notifications for that messaging app. Once you've turned on the notifications, you'll see a place somewhere in he settings that allows you to select which notification tone you wish to play when you get a message.
     It might be worded a little differently among the various apps (I'm familiar with the stock app as well as Handcent, my personal favorite, and GO messaging, which is good, also), but you should be able to figure out what you need to do pretty easily once on the settings menu.
