LIVEWIRE!!!  Help I can't get rid of it

My friend downloaded Livewire to my PC and it is now a folder in my iTunes sidebar. When I am trying to build new playlists etc they are added as a subfolder under my iPod but when I am trying to download songs to my nano it is only giving me the option to pick playlists that are a subfolder of the Livewire folder. So when I try to update ipod uding the "only checked playlists" option, the options given are subfolders of the Livewire folder and not the playsists I am making that fall under the iPod folder. I tried to remove Livewire from my computer via add/remove fies but is is still in my iTunes. How do I get rid of this??
Thanks

  • Help!  Can't get rid of unwanted volume; machine won't shut down

    Hi everyone,
    This afternoon I used my Maxtor backup (external firewire drive). After I was done with the backup, I clicked "eject" on the disk icon. I may have physically disconnected the disk too soon after that because I got a message saying the disk might have errors on it because I didn't properly eject it. But I didn't worry about it at the time. Tonight when I attempted to shut down my Mac, it would not shut down... and I discovered that there is a volume on the desktop which is the entire contents of the Maxtor back up. I cannot eject it or discard it, and I have the feeling that is the cause of this problem of not being able to shut down. What do I do? The volume does NOT appear on the disk utilities, so I can't reformat it... In any case, it's not really connected to the computer. Feeling a bit scared. Everything else seems to be functioning normally... Help!

    Thanks Klaus. I actually fixed this right after I wrote the post. I manually shut down the Mac, then turned it back on, and the volume was gone. I should point out that when I had the Maxtor hooked up to the Mac, I was getting two volumes for one Maxtor drive -- one looked like the regular hard disk icon, the other (the one that wouldn't go away) was a folder with the same title (Maxtor) and was identified in the "Get Info" command as a volume. I was able to eject the regular icon Maxtor, but never the folder. I guess this was some kind of ghost volume... In any case, shutting down the Mac manually seemed to get rid of this problem.

  • Help!  Can I get rid of something?

    I purchased Adobe Creative Suite CS2, upgraded to CS3.3 and now just upgraded to CS4.  My question is, do I have to keep the CS2 and/or the CS3.3 on my computer or can I remove them?  If I can remove them, do I have to uninstall them before I trash them?  I really need to know what I can get rid of or if I have to keep them on there because my computer is acting weird and I don't know if all these programs are draining it's memory.  Can anyone give me the answer I seek?  It's much appreciated if you can!

    Okay, .Buko... I now use a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac computer, which has Mac OS X version 10.5.6 on it.  For my old G4 Mac, I bought CS2 Design Standard as my first CS version, so I would think that it has to stay since it's basically my "base" software (if you understand what I'm trying to say).  Since I upgraded from CS2 to 3.3 and then upgraded to CS4, I would think it would be okay to remove CS3.3 from my computer but I don't know for sure.  I suppose I could just throw one away and if it doesn't work, start all over.  I guess what I need to know is, when you upgrade a software do you have to keep the previous one on the computer in order for the upgrade to work?  CS4 is already installed, I just don't like the idea that 3 versions of CS are on my hard drive, and I need to know if one or both of the previous versions can be removed.  Can anyone help me with this question?  Please, let me know if you can!  Thanks a bunch for starting to help, .Buko.  I hope I have helped you more by giving you some insight into the computer I use.

  • Help I can't get rid of the beach ball in system preferences!

    Hi,
    I have an iMac OS X 10.8.3.  Every time I go to system preferences to change my screen saver I immediatley get the beach ball and the enire thing freezes up.  I can't do ANYTHING within system referneces and I can only get out by 'force quit'. We've tried everything we can think of. This is a new glitch because we used to be able to change our photos in screen saver all the time.  It is super frustrating and  it slows down everything.  Does anybody know what could possibly be happening and if there is a way around this?
    Thanks

    Quit System Preferences if it's running. In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
    from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists:
    Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
    and move the following item to the Desktop:
    Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the item on the Desktop back where it came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the item.

  • HELP!  Can't get rid of blue apple menu

    I got a new iMac for Christmas and I was trying to move bookmarks and such from Firefox to the new computer. I was following instructions through them using terminal. Now, I have this blue apple heading up the apple menu instead of the normal gray/black one and my finder isn't the same. I tried to start mail after a restart and it acts as though its the first time I had ever used it. Please someone help. I have tried to restart. But still the blue apple at the apple menu.
    Please note - this is all done on my old PowerMac G4 Running OSX 10.4.11 not my new iMac. But I need to get more stuff off of it. And, in case you were wondering - It never did work to get my stuff from FireFox either. Going about it a different way - with an add-on. But really need to get my Mac back.
    Also in the terminal window I am looking at the following:
    [G4:~] tina%
    Thanks in advance

    OK - Here goes. I was trying to figure out how to transfer all my bookmarks, passwords, etc. from Firefox to my new iMac, as I use Firefox as my main browser. When doing the research, I came across these instructions.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferringdata_to_a_new_profile_-Firefox
    In these instructions it said I have to create an new profile to copy to in doing this I have to open the Profile Manager. Which the instructions are here.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/ProfileManager#Accessing_the_ProfileManager
    Basically on that page it tells me to quit Firefox, go to Terminal and type in
    /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -profilemanager
    Which I did and nothing happened. It goes on to tell you that if it doesn't work then type it in without -bin. Which I did.
    /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -profilemanager
    Again - Nothing happened. Being uncomfortable with Terminal (because I had never used it before) I said screw it and went to the File menu and chose Quit.
    Well, when I started Terminal my Apple heading up the Apple menu turned blue exactly like the picture you sent me. What to do? In my mind a restart fixes everything. Not so. Did a restart and I still have the blue apple. In addition to that, my Desktop is different. Like my desktop pictures are not showing (they are all Pepsi) and it has gone back to a default one, my dock must be the default one as it does not have the applications I added to it (Firefox, Preview, Quicken, etc.) it is also anchored at the bottom of the screen, whereas mine was hidden on the right. It doesn't announce the time anymore, etc. I think you get the idea. The files on my desktop (documents, folders, etc) are there but when I tried to start Mail to check it - It acted as if it was the first time I ever started Mail - no mailboxes, and was starting to take me through the set up procedure. So I quit that and started searching online for how to get out of this terminal mess. I went back to terminal and tried entering 'exit' and it closed a window but nothing else. Then I had another thought - ONCE IN A WHILE when I restart my computer it goes to this black and white screen and says "Welcome to Darwin etc..." and tells me if I want to start up to enter 'mac-boot' or 'shut-down'. So I typed in mac-boot and it said command not found.
    So, here I sit. My old computer hasn't been touched since then. I am doing all this on my new one. I don't even know if I can get online. I'm afraid to touch it. So- I can't really do a screen image. So, besides for my funky desktop that I have already told you about I am looking at a terminal window hat has "Terminal - tsch - 80x24" as the heading of the window.
    Inside the window it says:
    Last login: Wed Dec 30 07:58:20 on ttyp1
    Welcome to Darwin!
    [G4:~] tina% mac-boot
    tsch: mac-boot: Command not found.
    (On a strange note I wanted to mention that there are brackets around G4:~, but for whatever reason I noticed they did not show up on the original post I made here on the discussions,and I wanted to mention in in case they don't again).
    As for your other questions: The machines are connected wirelessly. As I planned on moving most of my stuff via an external MyBook I use. At this point I have only moved my iPhoto Library this way. Then I stared with Firefox stuff. So my iMac is untouched by this Firefox nonsense. I will (hopefully) be able to get on my original FireFox account from my G4 and use an XMarks add-on (I wish I had found before all this) to sync my bookmarks and passwords to my new computer.
    I have not used the disk utility yet- as you mentioned. I am just getting back at this this morning. I also have not did the list of commands you gave me. Call me a little gun shy - but do I type it in exactly as you have it written or do I not add the numbers and those are just there as steps for me to follow? Sorry. I am afraid to touch this machine.
    One last note. My G4 has been on all night. I checked the display this morning and it hasn't changed and it has now going to sleep after cycling a few times. I am going to assume this is a default setting.
    Thank you so much for your help on this. I am so confused. I had no idea that Terminal could cause such a ruckus. I guess I should have taken a clue from it's name. The people from Firefox act like it's normal operating procedure and no big deal to use this program. Lesson learned. Thank you again..I look forward to your next reply.

  • A box with a blue outline appeared in my bookmark drop-down menu. I can't get rid of it, and it obstructs the view of the bookmarks as I scroll up or down. Help!

    I was trying to bookmark a page, using the "Choose" menu in the bookmarks. I must have touched a key by accident, and a box with a blue outline & the name of one of my folders appeared in my bookmark drop-down menu. At first the box contained the folder name, then I was trying to delete the box, and erase the name, thinking it might get rid of the box, but it didn't. I can't get rid of this box! It obstructs the view of what is underneath. It stays in the same position as I scroll up & down in the drop-down menu, and it hides what is underneath. Please help me get rid of this box. It is driving me crazy! Thanks!

  • Crazy gap I can't get rid of! help - please??

    Hi - my first time on here (well, needing to be on here..!).
    I'm having a heck of a time. I've just been hand-coding a fairly
    simple site - which I've now finally gotten around to updating.
    The site is:
    http://www.arcfoto.com
    I'm trying to set it up as a fixed (un-resizeable) console
    window with a flexible content pane. So - I've been using
    dreamweaver to set it all up. But the problem is that I've got this
    really persistent gap that I can't get rid of. It's spans the left
    and top sides. (about 10px of white) - in the version you see if
    you visit the URL - I've had to add gap to the bottom and right -
    just to not make it look TOO WEIRD. But I'd really really like to
    get rid of it.
    The basic architecture is the following: Javascript window
    containing tables to organize content. Nothing special - just
    rollovers. A friend suggested I could add CSS commands to get rid
    of it. I've been doing a fair bit of messing around with any and
    all CSS parameters I could.... but nothing seems to really make a
    difference. I'm thinking it's got something to do with the
    javascript window definition for the window on the entry page
    (previous page). But I really have no idea. I'm HOPING, PRAYING -
    that someone here might have a suggestion for a quick fix - or a
    fix of any kind...! I've been struggling with this for WEEKS
    now...!
    Thanks.

    Martin?
    Your PNG files are so huge because you have not properly
    exported them from
    FW. Just export as JPG images - they'll be fine if you don't
    OVER optimize
    them, and they'll be MUCH smaller than these are now.
    This is a bit hinky -
    .style1 {
    font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    font-weight: bold;
    color: #D1CED0;
    border-top: 0;
    border-left: 0;
    border: 0;
    body {
    background-color: #666666;
    border-left: 0;
    border: 0;
    border-top: 0;
    border-top-style: outset;
    margin-left: 0px;
    margin-top: 0px;
    try this -
    .style1 {
    font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    font-weight: bold;
    color: #D1CED0;
    border-width:0;
    body {
    background-color: #666666;
    border-width: 0;
    margin-left: 0;
    margin-top: 0;
    But the big question is: will it work for me?
    It could.

  • HP D017TU Laptop - Windows Help ans Support window started popping up and i can't get ride of it

    Just purchased a brand new HP D017TU Laptop so nothing been done with it. I installed windows 7 on my HP D017TU laptop. it was working fine.
    Then 2 days ago the Windows Help ans Support window started popping up and now I can't get ride of it.
    I have tried the following things to get ride of the issue,
    1) Format windows 7 os
    2) Delete All partition and re-create
    3) Re-install windows 7
    Does anyone know how I can stop this happening.

    Hello SaravSB, welcome to teh HP Forums.
    I see that you're having an issue where the Windows help and support is popping up. I will try to help you with this.
    I've looked into this for you, it seems this was an issue from back when Windows 7 launched. Any "solutions" also seemed to vary user to user. You may want to try contacting Microsoft for support on this. I was able to find a couple of posts off the answers.microsoft.com forums.

    Hello
    I found a simple yet effective solution for this problem, my friend had the same issue so instinctively as a technician, I suspect this was a malware of somekind so I re-formatted and installed Win7 funny it's still there, so I did a Hard disk wipe using Dalvik's and re-partitioned and formatted again, to my surprise it still have the same problem.
    So I ask Mr. Goo' old Mr. Google for answer, but I've found more complications, sorry for the story, so without further a do, the solution.
    Boot to safe mode. (may also work in "normal mode")
    Go to Task Manager>
    Click the Services Tab>
    Right click "HelpPane.exe" or Help and support service>
    Select Properties>
    Click the Security tab>
    Click the Advanced tab (for permissions options)
    Then select the "permissions entries" one at a time>
    Click Change Permissions>
    Then click Edit>
    CLEAR ALL THE CHECK BOX FOR ALL ENTRIES
    This should prevent access to the HelpPane.exe to all users/programs.
    This resolved my friends Windows 7 "Help and Support thingy" issue, hope it does yours too.
    Message me for questions and/or clarifications/corrections.
    Thank you"

    To fix the problem of the help pane appearing everytime you start windows do the following:
    1. Run 'msconfig'
    2. Go to the 'Startup' tab
    3. One of your 'Startup items' is causing the pane to appear and you are going to have to find out which one it is!  Untick ALL the items and reboot.  The help pane will not appear harrah!  Rather than adding the Startup Items back in one at a time and rebooting a hundred times, tick half the programs back in and reboot.  You can find the culprit in about 5 reboots if you do it logically and add/remove half/quarter etc at a time.
    4.  Finally you will be left with all your Startup items ticked and the guilty program unticked (and that annoying help pane will no longer be appearing)
    5. Now delete the guilty Startup Item from the registry (which will also remove it from the msconfig startup tab.
    6. Open 'regedit'
    7. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg and delete the guilty program folder.  BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST!
    8.  You're welcome."
    Both of those, as well as other steps are located in this thread: Windows 7 "Help and Support" keeps popping up.
    You could try those suggestions and even give that thread a read over, other wise the best option would be contacting Microsoft as stated above.
    Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Yahoo toolbar appeared without my consent. Can't get rid of it. Does not appear in list of add-ons or in list of programs installed for uninstall. (Win7; FFx5) Please help me delete this annoyance.)

    I was prompted to update Java. I got a YAHOO toolbar which I did and do not want. I can't get rid of it. It does not appear on the Add-on list, not in the programs list (to uninstall). Can't find anything with Yahoo in the name. I do not want to use View, because it keeps coming back into view without my consent -- I want it gone permanently.
    The uninstall directions in Yahoo help call for click on pencil tool (which tool is not found on this toolbar). Firefox instructions say go to Add-on list, but the Yahoo bar is not there. There are several Java add-ons, but I don't know what they are and what happens if they are uninstalled.
    Win 7; Firefox 5.0; Yahoo toolbar ver 2.3.8.20110620112826
    Perhaps it is disguised as something else. If so please tell me what to uninstall.

    Try RIGHT clicking on different areas of the toolbars on Firefox, mainly try right clicking on/around the url bar & forward/back navigation buttons. When you get the correct spot if will give you a menu with the toolbars available (whether or not they're active) and a couple other options. Just uncheck the Yahoo one & you should be all set.
    As you say though it may be some other bar disguised as a yahoo bar. Any chance you can get a screen shot of it & post it here?
