  • I synced to move all to a new computer but after I moved successfully, when I cleaned off the old one and forgot to undo sync it cleaned off my new one.

I successfully moved my info, favorites etc., to a new laptop with the sync feature, but when I cleaned off all my info from my old internet computer and forgot to undo the sync, it then synced and cleaned off my new one. Help! Can I get my favorites and other stuff back???

I can very well empathize and it hard for me to say it, but you can not get anything back - because there's nothing left anymore, at least not on Mozilla servers.

Backup your data off the machine to a external drive (not TimeMachine) and disconnect.
Create another Admin account in System Preferences and log into it, delete your Admin Account and reboot.
Optional: Open Disk Utility and Erase Free Space (Zero good enough, 7x for military level, both take time)
This should be good enough to remove just your account and data without the hassle of reinstalling the OS and all new programs again.
However if you need that level, then c boot off the 10.6 disk (or command r boot on Lion) and use Disk Utility there to Zero or 7x erase the OSX drive/partition, quit and reinstall OS X. Much more work that likely is unnecessary in your case.
    Good Luck.

Macbooks are only supported if the're late 2008 Alu or early 2009 or later:
The OP may have an early 2008 Macbook. You have a Macbook Pro, which is different.

No eSATA to USB. Just a SATA/IDE to USB adapter. Google SATA/IDE to USB adapter and you will get tons of links to buy them. Most likely your local computer electronics store has them, although they might be more expensive buying locally than online.
I have several. You can get either USB 2, which what I recommend, or USB 3. USB is backward compatible so a USB 3 adapter will work on a USB 2 port and a USB 2 adapter will work on a USB 3 port. Backward compatible in both directions.
I suggest a USB 2 type because there have been some problems with certain USB 3 devices, the USB 3 interface used isn't all that good in those certain devices. USB 3 is still fairly new where as USB 2 has been around for over 10 years.

At the apple store they said I needed an esata to usb wire.  But looking at wires on line has been confusing.  Is sata the same as esata?  How do I know if I need a usb 3 or usb 2?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Should I buy the old MacBook Pro(non-Retina)

I want to buy a new MacBook but very confused with which model to buy. I was very keen on MacBook Pro (non-retina) because of it good specs and the flexibility it provides for hardware upgrades.
But with the launch of new MacBook Pro Retina models, I have been hearing news (rumours) that the old MacBook Pro (non-retina) will be phased out.
Please advise me if it is still a good idea to purchase the old MacBook Pro (non-retina) model ? I am just afraid that Apple might stop supporting the product in future.

I bought my MacbookPro 15.4'' (mid 2012) in the beginning of October and have been fully satisfied, even if it's not Retina. It has IntelCore i7 2.3 Ghz, 1600 Mhz DDR 3 and this alone let draw a conclusion that this is indeed powerfull and efficient machine one could ever wish to own and at the same time to pose a question: what else could one desire? It's definitely OK for the next 5 years and as much as I can determine to derive from it for my needs (by the way I'm convinced it would even meet the requirements of professionals such as IT specialists and the like) this Mac will give me much to benefit from its specs. Mine came with Lion 10.7.4, upgraded then to Mavericks and voila - its performance didn't dissapoint me either.  You should concern more where to buy to purchase high-quality product, of course brand new (not used/overused, damaged both internally and externally). The best choise is to buy it from an authorized reseller, a local Apple Store etc.  Believe me, an "old" Mac (is mine old??)  - speaking of the span of -2,3,4 years prior to this year is a very relative notion: it is TO SOME EXTENT if you compare to the newest models, BUT it isn't so "old" (whan saying the word our psychology distorts this making it sound like "total garbage" which IS ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT) comparing to the whole Microsoft-based stuff, even pretending to smooth quality (Windows 8 2-in-1 "tablets"). My advice - buy a 2012 model and you won't lose.

I have a very old (by computer standards) MacBook Pro, and a newer one.  I've been using the old one mostly for iTunes, into which I have only CD entries.  For a long time, years, the old MacBook pro ceased entering the song titles.  This is very time consuming for me, so I finally investigated a bit further.
I discovered how to enter the track titles onto my newer MacBook Pro, and was so pleased!  But when I tried to do the same with the other laptop, it failed.
What I did, basically, was what the Apple Help suggested--choose iTunes General Preferences, etc.etc.  And yes, I did upgrade the old laptop to the newest iTunes version.
Am I just wasting my time here? Is there some reason why an older Mac Pro will not do what the newer one will, with regard to iTunes?
My older laptop is a 2.6 GHz Core Duo; it has 36 GB of "memory available."  The newer one  a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7. It has 284 GB of memory available.
Both are using the same version of Snow Leopard--10.6.8.

  • Will I need to buy Lion on a Lion preinstalled macbook air after transferring a snow leopard system from an old macbook pro

So will I need to buy Lion from the app store to upgrade, after I transfer my old snow leopard system to a new macbook air, that came with Lion?
    Thanks!

Use Setup Assistant when your new Mac first starts up to transfer your stuff from the old Mac or it's backups.
If it comes with Lion, see Using Setup Assistant on Lion
If it comes with Snow Leopard, see the slightly-different Using Setup Assistant on Snow Leopard or Leopard, then upgrade to Lion.

  • How can I tell the differences between the new MacBook Pro with retina display and the old MacBook Pro with retina display by looking

I'm just wondering the differences between the new MacBook Pro with retina display which was just released in October 2013 and the old MacBook Pro with retina display.

Thank you for the reply! As you said they looked exactly the same, so I'm not able to tell the differences just by looking, right? I'm thinking to buy a new 13-inch MacBook Pro with retina display, but I'm not buying the MacBook in Apple Store, I'm buying it in other shops, how can know whether they are not selling me the old model of MacBook Pro with retina display?

Hello stacksofamber and welcome to Apple Support Communities,
You should be able to find a Mac OSX driver for that printer. Did you check with the manufacturer/'s website?

  • Question for Hosts RE: What do you wish Apple would put in the next MacBook

    Hello
I cannot find any other means to contact the hosts on this discussions site so I am posting directly to the forum. Please accuse the interruption if this is not the appropriate way to contact the hosts.
Earlier this evening this discussion thread "What do you wish Apple would put in the next MacBook Pro update?" was removed by the hosts. I am the person who originally posted the question. I am curious as to why it was removed. I have read the terms of use and find nothing that would preclude such a question. Please let me know what the reasoning was for removing this thread.
From the replies I read today it seems like the sort of information provided by those who replied would be of interest to Apple. After all, the closer you (Apple) come to meeting the needs of us users out here, the more machines you are likely to sell.
So how about it, why was the post removed?
    Thanks
    -- Bennett

The Hosts, in my experience, will for privacy reasons never comment publicly on why a given post or thread was removed. Without having seen the thread in question, I can't say for sure why it was removed, but if the post, as the title you gave indicated, was just a "wish list" and started to wander into speculation, the Hosts would have removed it for that reason.
Generally it's best to keep posts to specific technical questions. Inviting chat about future features isn't generally going to go well and such threads usually end up being removed. If you want to make suggestions to Apple about future features, it's best to use the product feedback pages. Your suggestion is more likely to be seen that way in any case.
BTW, questions about the Discussions forums themselves will be best asked in the Discussions Feedback forum. But again, don't expect a Host to specifically address why a given thread was removed; they just usually won't.
