LMS 3.2 CM, data collection stays running forever
Hi There
I have a customer who has LMS 3.2 Solaris. His CM, data collection, is in a running state for more than two days.
I am almost sure this is a bug, do you have any advice for me please.
see this thread:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/1322774#1322774
perhaps you are hitting BugId CSCtd49439
CSCtd49439 Bug Details
Data Collection never completes, and UT acquisition cannot run
Symptom:
Campus Manager Data Collection does not stop. It is reported as always
running in
Topology Services. Additionally, User Tracking acquisition does not run due
to XML files
being written.
Conditions:
This will occur if there are any standalone Access Points being managed by
Campus
Manager. Other devices can also cause this (e.g. old 1200 series switches).
Workaround:
Filter out standalone Access Points and other affected devices from Campus
Data Collection
under Campus Manager > Administration > Data Collection > Exclude Devices.
A patch is available by contacting TAC.

LMS 4.2 Topology Data Collection Issue
Hi there,
i have an issue with the lms 4.2 Topology Data Collection. After installation the Topology Data Collection was running normaly, but since first server reload the Topo Data Collect under Inventory > Dashboards > Device Status > Collection Summary is "frozen". It only shows the following content from first run:
Topology Data Collection 193 0 Not Available Running Schedule
Is there any option to stop this process elsewhere? I cannot find anything under jobs in running state or so. Clicking on Schedule only give me the option to start data collection, but lms always returns that the process is running.
Thanks for help.Hi,
i have reseted the ANI db using NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ani dmprefix=ANI
Everything is set to 0:
Topology Data Collection 0 0 Not Available Running Schedule
UT Major Acquisition 0 (0 End hosts 0 IP Phones) 0 Not Available Idle Schedule
VRF Collection 0 0 Not Available Idle Schedule
But Topology Data Collection is still frozen to "Running" state.... -
LMS 3.2 Campuss Data Collection Does Not Start
I Discovered devices correctly in CS>DCR . Initially there was no problem in running data collection in Campuss Manager. But now when i try to run data collection manually or by a scedule, it does not start. Although the notification appears that "notified server to run data collection" but nothing happens then.
Also, I applied " net stop crmdmgtd" and then "net start crmdmgtd" and no error was reported. After this, data collection was successfully run, but just for once. That means, every time if i have to run data collection manually or by a schedule, i have to stop and start crmdmgtd ???
Please advise what to do.
Pleae note:
LMS 3.2 is installed on Windows Server 2003 service pack 2.It looks like you are on Campus Manager 5.2. This should be fixed in 5.2.1. Proceed to upgrade to this version and then see if Data Collection runs fine. If you still have any problems, post the latest ani.log.

LMS 4.0 ANI Data Collection
Lately my ANI Data Collection seems to be running continuously. I even backed off the schedule for UT acquisitions to no avail. I also restarted the daemon manager.
I'm not sure if it's related but we made some changes on the management SVIs for a number of our switches to make them more reachable. I also upgraded to LMS 4.0.1
ANI Data Collection processes had been running fine earlier - kicking off on schedule and completing successfully.
I've attached a copy of the current ani.logThis looks like a new bug in LMS 4.0.1 introduced by the fix for CSCso03691. I don't yet have LMS 4.0.1 source and debugging is not enabled, so I cannot see exactly where the problem lies, but one of the port channel classes is not properly implementing the new methods for finding channels by ifIndex.

Problem Topology Data collection LMS 4.1
Hi there,
I have an issue with the lms 4.1 Topology Data Collection. In the Topo Data Collect under Inventory > Dashboards > Device Status > Collection Summary, there are only 2 devices succeeded and 0 device fail. but I have more 500 device in state managed. I run Inventory Collections but the number doesn't change.
Inventory Collection 534 13 02 May 2012, 11:07 CEST Idle Schedule
Config Archive 507 14 02 May 2012, 09:51 CEST Running Schedule
Topology Data Collection 2 0 02 May 2012, 11:11 CEST Idle Schedule
I have read others discussions but no one has the same problem or similar problem. The only possible solution is to reset the ANI db but I'm not sure if it it's the best solution.
Any ideas?
Thaks for helpI confirm that Martin. Good spotting!. I just noticed it in a server I installed yesterday. These 2 lines were added to the hosts file.
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 LMS4
A bit silly for both, since these entries were allready in the hosts file, done by the windows install I think
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

Data collection problems in LMS 4.0
Hi, we have some devices in our LMS 4.0 where Data Collection cannot be collected. The strange thing is that some days ago they were working fine and we have SNMP connectivity. We have deleted the devices and have added them again but the problem still persists, how can we fix it?
From the LMS server do the following:
1. ping the devices that you cannot collect their data
2. test the snmp connection to those devices using snmpwalk
go to CSCOpx\objects\jt\bin
snmpwalk -v 2c -c 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2
3. test the credintials against those devices (Inventory> Job Browsers> Device Credentials Verification)
For any failure in 1 or 2 usually this is a firewall problem. Check if snmp and icmp ports are open or not.
For 3 failue check the credintials from (Inventory> Device Administration> Add / Import / Manage Devices)
I hope this help -
Too many BPM data collection jobs on backend system
Hi all,
We find about 40,000 data collection jobs running on our ECC6 system, far too many.
We run about 12 solutions, all linked to the same backend ECC6 system. Most probably this is part of the problem. We plan to scale down to 1 solution rather than the country-based approach.
But here we are now, and I have these questions.
1. How can I relate a BPM_DATA_COLLECTION job on ECC6 back to a particular solution ? The job log give me monitor-id, but I can't relate that back to a solution.
2. If I deactivate a solution in the solution overview, does that immediately cancel the data collection for that solution ?
3. In the monitoring schedule on a business process step we sometimes have intervals defined as 5 minutes, sometimes 60. Strange thing is that the drop-down of that field does not always give us the same list of values. Even within a solution I see that in one step I have the choice of a long list of intervals, in the next step in that same business process I can only choose between blank and 5 minutes.
How is this defined ?
Thanks in advance,
Rad.Hi,
How did you managed to get rid of this issue. i am facing the same.
Thanks,

Data Collection 5.2 LMS 3.2 running always
why??
Best Regards. Most likely "CSCtd49439 Data Collection never completes, and UT acquisition cannot run " which affects the CM 5.2. TAC could provide you patch or you need upgrade your CampusManager to 5.2.2.

Data Collection Jobs fail to run
Hello,
I have installed three servers with SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition, which should be identically installed and configured.

I have tried removing and reconfiguring the Data Collection two times using the stored procedure msdb.dbo.sp_syscollector_cleanup_collector and removing the underlying database.
Both times with the same result.
Below are the basic information about the setup of the server:
Does any one have any suggestions about what the problem could be and what the cure might be?
Best regards,
Michael Andy PoulsenI tried running a repair on the SQL Server installation.
This solved the problem.
Only thing is that now I have to figure out the mening of these last lines in the log of the repair:
"The following warnings were encountered while configuring settings on your SQL Server. These resources / settings were missing or invalid so default values were used in recreating the missing resources. Please review to make sure they don’t require
further customization for your applications:

Data Collection - values remained filled in from previous run through route
Hello,
We have an SFC that is running through a route the second time that requires specific Data Collection to be captured, but when Data Collection is attempted the values are all pre-filled in (and grayed out) from the previous run through the route.
The Data Collection needs to be entered in each time it is run through this route, especially if it is an RMA no matter how many times.
Am I missing a setting somewhere?
Thanks for your help,
MikeHello Sergiy,
The product goes through a normal route and is completed, SFC status = DONE.
The Product comes back and goes through an RMA route. First Operation data needs to be collected so it is entered by the Operator. The Product continues on and is completed, SFC status = DONE.
The Product comes back a second time and goes through the same RMA route. First Operation data needs to be collected, but it is already filled in with the data from the first time it went through the RMA route.
I was just wondering if I missed a configuration part or if this is a bug?
As always thanks,
Mike -
Can we run parallel data collections to collect multiple source instance.
Hi,
We have a business requirement where we will have multiple Source(ERP) instance and single Destination(ASCP) instance. We would like to check if we will be able to run Data collections in parallel to collect multiple EPR instance in the same time window. This is to reduce the total planning process time duration as following data collections we will be required to run multiple plan runs.
Please help me with your expert comments
Rgds
SidYou may instead use Continuous collections to save on time so it can run collections from both instances periodically throughout the day thereby reducing a single timespan to collect all the data.
Thanks
