LMS 3.2 Device update
Hi,
When I check for new device update at cisco.com, I got these lines at psu.log - attached.
Is this a bug?
Balazs
Hi ,
Replace the attached file (vds.properties) from the below location :
C:\Program Files\CSCOpx\lib\classpath\com\cisco\nm\xms\vds
then Restart the Daemon Manager ..
NOTE : Please take the Bcakup of your Existing file (vds.properties)
--Then go to common service > software center > device update >> check for the Device Pcakages , you will be able to see the Device Packages now..
Thanks--

LMS 3.2 device updates failing?
Have upgraded from LMS 3.1 to 3.2 then applied all the software updates ok.
Now applying device updates - they are failing but can't see a clear reason. The Activity Log > Event Log doesn't really provide any clues. I'm guessing the relevant log file would be the psu.log ? [see attached]
Not sure if messages like
oid : 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.5.19 not found in E:\CISCOW~1\lib\classpath\com\cisco\nm\cwcs\mdf\mdfdata.xml
are part of the problem?
Thanks for any troubleshooting pointersThe SYSobjectID you mention is of an HP device so that is not likely to be your problem.
Got any problems with devices not being recognized?
Tail of psu.log looks normal to me.
Cheers,

LMS 3.1 Device Update problem through CCO
If I use the correct CCO password, I get "Connection to Cisco.com failed. Please check log files. Download operation cannot proceed." All I see in psu.log is "FATAL [DevUpdate : performAdd] : Error while trying to connect to Cisco.com. Return Code = 1". If I use a bogus password, I'm told so, which leads me to think, without digging further on the LMS or proxy side that there's problem on the CCO end. Am I off base here?
I was able to download via Device Update with a different CCO account, which makes me think it's an account entitlement problem. Does it sound plausible given the error message ([DevUpdate : performAdd] : Error while
trying to connect to Cisco.com. Return Code = 1) that it's CCO's way of saying the first account was not entitled to download RME & CiscoView pkgs? -
LMS 4.2 Device Update without a proxy server
I'm running LMS 4.2.2, and when I try to initiate a device package update via the webinterface, it fails because I do not have a proxy server configured. Is there a way to tell LMS that I don't want it to use a proxy? I have my cisco.com creds in place, and the proxy fields left blank, but it tries anyway, and I can't find anywhere to tell it to ignore the proxy.
I solved this myself, it seems I had my DNS entries on the Soft Appliance entered incorrectly, so it threw a "cannot find proxy" rather than "cannot resolve hostname" error.

Ciscoworks LMS 2.5 don`t working software & devices updates
Terrible happened The old server with LMS on the Solaris operating system refused to work, but I have backup. I installed LMS 2.5 (CiscoView 6.1.2), RME 4.0.3. Posted all network objects that were in the old system from backup. But none of them can not do in the utility Netconfig, all the checkbox on the switches Cisco ME 3400-24TS-A inactive, butwith the Cisco 3750 is no such problem, it works. As I understand it, I must run Device Update, but the answer is a "No updates available in CCO for selected product (s)." The same problem with Software Update, I can not upgrade to LMS 2.6 and other products too. Tell me what to do? Some screenshots attached below.
Maybe Cisco has stopped maintaining the online update repositories for LMS 2.x. Alternatively, you can try finding the relevant RME/CiscoView/Campus Manager device updates at
http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/navigator.html?mdfid=268439477&i=rp
For example, select RME, instead of LMS, to find if the RME device pkgs are available for download. Once downloaded, you can apply them on the LMS servers locally. -
LMS 4.1 Device Package Update
Hi,
I'm having problems updating packages for my new install of LMS Prime 4.1 and hoped someone here could help in diagnosing why. I've attached the psu.log file.
Thanks in advance.Yeah, for Inventory Config And Image Management (the traditional RME functions, in LMS 3.x lingo), you have to perform a separate "Software Update" (vis-a-vis Device Update, which is apparently for CiscoView). That's described in the same aforementioned URL, a little further up, Admin -> System -> Software Center -> Software Update:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/4.1/user/guide/admin/swcenter.html#wp1096852
The following page describes, in not-so-clear terms, whether it's Software Update or Device Update that's needed to get newer hw/sw recognized by the various pieces of LMS 4.1.

Ciscoworks LMS 3.2 unable to run Software or Device Update
I am not able to run software or device update. Initially I thought it was my proxy (Bluecoat) problem. so I bypassed the proxy and still getting the same error. based on the PSU.log, I am getting 404 error which ususally HTTP Not Found. I am wondering if the URLs have been moved? I've attached a sample of TCP stream in plain text.

LMS 3.2 RME Device Update failed
Hello experts,
I got a new error on my LMS 3.2 with RME 4.3.1
I can´t install any of the RME Device updates.
e.g. : "Installation failed for product [Resource Manager Essentials] with message : com.cisco.nm.xms.psu.packagemgmt.InstallerException: Repository in use. Another Package Support Updater client session may be modifying device support."
I looked up for a .lock file in my CW dir but there is no one.
NMSROOT/Psu.Lock and NMSROOT/www/classpath/com/cisco/nm/xms/psu/Psu.Lock does not exist.
There are no other .lock files in the CW dir and subdirs.
I attatched a psu.log file. Maybe u will see the failure.
What I tried:
- Restart daemon
- install from cisco.com
- install from local dir
... everytime the package installation failed.
Bye,
PatrickYou will need an identical server (RME 4.3.1) with an updated/healthy package repository. If you have that, you can follow these steps to regenerate maps:
1. Shutdown daemons:
net stop crmdmgtd
2. On the bad server, delete all .zip files under the two RME package repositories:
NMSROOT\www\classpath\com\cisco\nm\xms\psu\pkgs\rme
NMSROOT\MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\pkgs
3. Copy all of the packages under one of the above locations on the good server to both of these locations on the bad server.
4. Delete your bad rme*.map files under NMSROOT/www/classpath/com/cisco/nm/xms/psu/maps/ and replace them with the good ones.
5. Restart daemons:
net start crmdmgtd -

Apache Tomcat error on common services (Device Update)
I have installed lms 3.2 on server 2008 , and when I click on device update in software center I recieve an error
which I inserted down here ;
I have to mention that I also have installed Common services patch .
please some one help me this out .
which IHi,
Kindly check if you have CSCtj20850-0.info at location CSCOpx\setup\patch
Try this workaround too as it look like rme map files got corrupted :-
Navigate to -->
CSCOpx/www/classpath/com/cisco/nm/xms/psu/maps
Backup these two files (rme*.map) at another location and finally delete them from this location. You need to stop the daemon manager to be able to delete this files with the command net stop crmdmgtd.
Now, run the following command two command, rememer they are one line command :-
1>
set NMSROOT=%CWMIBDIR%\..\..\..
2>
%NMSROOT%\lib\jre\bin\java -classpath %NMSROOT%\lib\jre\lib;%NMSROOT%\lib\classpath;%NMSROOT%\objects\log4j\1.1.3\log4j.jar;%NMSROOT%\MDC\tomcat\shared\lib\MICE.jar;%NMSROOT%\MDC\tomcat\shared\lib\NATIVE.jar;%NMSROOT%\MDC\tomcat\shared\lib\jdom.jar;%NMSROOT%\www\classpath;%NMSROOT%\lib\classpath\servlet.jar;%NMSROOT%\MDC\tomcat\webapps\cwhp\WEB-INF\classes com.cisco.nm.xms.psu.packagemgmt.map.CreateMaps %NMSROOT%\www\classpath\com\cisco\nm\xms\psu\pkgs\rme
The above workaround should generate the rme*.map files again and then it should work fine.
Now, start the daemon manager and wait for 20 minutes before logging back to CiscoWorks.
Note :- Its important to backup (rme*.map) before deleting them.
Many Thanks,
Gaganjeet Singh -
I have just completed an Install of LMS 3.2
I have tried to apply the latest device update package the download site for DFM.
However I get the following message "consitency check for base package DFMSharedUpdates."
When I look at the Common Services, Software Center, Device Update ; all the device type counts are zero except for CiscoView and Resource Manager Essentials. I would have thought that the DFM section would have a value other than Zero.
How do I apply the Base Package for DFM and what is the file location.
Thanks MarkMake sure you also download and install the MDF update for Common Services. In fact, check the boxes next to RME, Common Services, DFM, CiscoView and Campus Manager. Install all of the available device updates for each application. When done, you should have non-zero device counts for RME, DFM, and CiscoView.

Some users have reported success with uninstalling an app first, but no luck with me.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
Thanks,
TomHi,
I've had the same problem and I have figured it out...for me anyway. Make sure you have the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager and obviously the lastest software for BlackBerry Torch also. So, ths is what worked for me...
connect phone to computer and click on Applications (top right)
click "Check for Updates"
click "Show Other Versions" (if there are no updates for phone)
chose "BlackBerry 6.0 6.0.0.246 (Current Version-Reload)
then select
Once this has reloaded and your device is restarted go back to Applications and add/delete (by checking or un-checking) what you want.
*Warning: I had a fair amount of trouble with error messages or something having to be reset, but after going through all the red tape and turning my phone off and on again a couple times it worked!!
Hope this helps or at least gets you started.
