LMS 3.2 need to restore cmf database.

If i reinialize(restore) the cmf database.do i need to reinialize all the databases.???
or if i reinialize the cmf database and do bulk import the devices is enough??
Thanks..
Regards,
Channa

Hi Channa,
Reinitializing a database will destroy  All data associated with that database.  If you need to reinitialize the cmf database, you will lose  All data in  ALL  LMS applications.
If you reinialize CMF and then do a bulk import of all your devices ..It means you are starting from scratch or I would say it would be just like a fresh Installation..
I hope this answer your query..
Thanks

  • Urgent -- need to restore table from full database backup

    Hello,
    Can somebody tell me the process for restoring just a table from a full database backup?
    I did a full online database backup yesterday, and one of my tables got ruined today. I need to restore it as soon as possible, but I don't know how. When I tried flashback tables, it said that feature wasn't enabled. Should I restore the datafile or the tablespace?
    Thanks much,
    Nora

    If you only want to recover the table and not the other objects in the tablespace, and assuming the table was damaged by a user statement (and not, say, block corruption), you would need to recover your backup to a different system, export the table that was damaged, and import the table into your real production database. If you can recover the entire tablespace to an earlier point in time, or if you can lose some committed changes to other database objects, you may have other options.

  • Need to restore database....

    Hi,
    I am seriously stuck with my oracle database.
    My oracle database has completly crashed but I have the physical file available in oradata folder, can I restore my database using this file in any ways.
    Please reply ASAP.
    Thanks In Adavance...

    well you know that by now but it wont work ...:)
    you can try and recreate the control file.
    create (or delete the new database ) a new service using the oradim util
    in windows
    copy back the backup files from backup directory to the original ( or other)
    copy the below into a scripts (*.sql file) - adjust all the path and names according to you database ( those in < > ) and try to run it form sqlplus.
    any way keep the backup files.
    STARTUP NOMOUNT
    CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE <your database name> RESETLOGS NOARCHIVELOG
    MAXLOGFILES 16
    MAXLOGMEMBERS 3
    MAXDATAFILES 100
    MAXINSTANCES 8
    MAXLOGHISTORY 2726
    LOGFILE
    GROUP 1 < log file full path between ' ' > SIZE 10M,
    GROUP 2 < log file> SIZE 10M,
    GROUP 3 <log file> SIZE 10M
    -- STANDBY LOGFILE
    DATAFILE
    < all your data files, tablespaces goes here with full path each >
    CHARACTER SET <your required character set >;
    hope will help you

  • LMS 4.2 backup and restore

    Hi Everyone,
    Will the backup funciton in LMS backup the archived config, syslog messages from network device, fault history, scheduled job config, report job, etc, or it just backup the device list and credential?
    If I need to restore everything of LMS to a new machine what is the best strategy?
    Thanks,
    Dennis

    Backup/Restore of entire application will do it for all the devices in LMS DB.
    When LMS is operational, there are two ways to keep the device configurations :
    > Shadow Directory
    The configuration archive Shadow directory is an image of the most recent configurations gathered by the configuration archive. The Shadow directory contains subdirectories that represent each device class and the latest configurations supported by the configuration archive. Each file name is DeviceName.cfg, as defined in the Device and Credential Repository. Each time the archive is updated, the Shadow directory is updated with the corresponding information. The Shadow directory can be used as an alternative method to derive the latest configuration information programmatically by using scripts or other means. For more details check :
    Enabling and Disabling the Shadow Directory
    > Using Config Editor
    The Config Editor provides easy access to configuration files. Config Editor allows a network administrator with the appropriate security privileges to edit a configuration file that exists in the configuration archive. The Configuration Management application stores the current and a user-specified number of previous versions of the configuration files for all supported Cisco devices maintained in the Inventory. It automatically tracks changes to configuration files and updates the database if a change is made. For more details, check document :
    Editing and Deploying Configurations Using Config Editor
    You can use any of the ways to save config and re-use when required.

  • Error in restoring a database

    Basically the error is telling you that when the backup was taken it was made to two backup files rather than one, so the backup was stripped across the two of them. You're now trying to restore the backup using only one of those files, which is why you're
    getting the error. To do the restore you need to use both files not just one of them. There's a good discussion of this error here
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/abf50e00-c9b0-4809-9e61-43ed8a53e968/the-media-set-has-2-media-families-but-only-1-are-provided?forum=sqltools which goes into more detail of how you end up in this situation, and also methods you
    can use to find out what the second file was (in case you don't know) so you can hopefully track it down.

  • Help is needed in restoring DB to new host

    Hello ,
    I posted new thread two days ago , but yet, haven't succedded in restore my DB from host A to host b .
    I need to do a test case , backup database at 11:00 , make some changes , (create / drop tables , whatever ) , take incremental level 1 at 11:15 , make more changes , plus another incremental level 1 backup at 11:30 .
    At the end of that , I should try to to restore the Database called DB1 , into host b , for the changes made before the backup of 11:15 (that is , set until time ... 11:15) .
    the problem is that I sit on that thing for about a week ,
    and each time get another error at the end of the process when trying to run :
    "recover database / recover database noredo" .
    Here is what I do in host a :

    Now I create same directories I have in host a , also in host b ,
    I have my init.ora file from host a and put it in host b ,
    and have all backups taken in host a , available in host b (got them through ftp) .
    here comes my question , I look at the pdf books of oracle and do somthing like that in host b :
    setenv ORACLE_SID DB1
    % sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
    SQL> startup nomount pfile=initDB1.ora
    SQL> exit
    % rman target / nocatalog

    RMAN > restore controlfile from autobackup until time "to_date ('25-01-2007 10:35','dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi')";
    ## to get back in time to the changes made before userb was created !
    RMAN > alter database mount ;
    RMAN > restore database ;
    RMAN > recover database noredo ;
    RMAN > alter database open resetlogs ;
    I don't run the whole process in host b , cause the restore is written somewhere , and I don't know where , and in the next time I try to run the restore operation , I get another kind of error message , and have to start the whole thing from the begining .
    what's wrong in my process ? it's either I got errors about my files that are older than the last time of the resetlogs , or the DB is recovered to its most current state , after the creation of userb .
    please advice . what should I change in my process ? it has been 3 days that I fail to recover my DB , and all I do is taken from oracle tecnet or metalink site .
    Thanks in advanced ,
    Lior .

    I think I found what was wrong .
    when I use restore controlfile until time , it means that if I wrote 13:00 the recover should be at least to 13:01 (for example) .
    meanwhile it works , I'm going to do some more tests to be sure .

  • Need help restoring data

    I have several disparate Windows 2003-based database with limited storage and memory resources. Each database is running in NOARCHIVE mode. I have a need to backup the database prior to upgrades. If errors occur, I'd like to be able to restore the database to its previous state.
    However, each time I perform a restore/recover, I see the updated data in all tables rather than the original data from the backup. Am I under the false impression that RMAN can restore data within the same database? Any help is appreciated.
    I'll attach the scripts that made use of see if there is anything that I am missing.
    CREATING A BACKUP
    1.     rman nocatalog
    2.     RMAN> connect target sys@ncr1
    3.     RMAN>shutdown immediate;
    4.     RMAN>startup mount;
    5.     RMAN> report schema;
    6.     RMAN> backup tag ‘ncr178_pre_upgrade’ database;
    7.     RMAN> list backup;
    8.     RMAN> startup
    RESTORING THE DATABASE
    1.     rman nocatalog
    2.     RMAN> connect target sys@ncr1
    3.     startup force mount;
    4.     restore database;
    5.     recover database;
    6.     alter database open;

    Rman will always try to recover the DB to the point of failure unless otherwise specified. If the changes made by you is available in the online logs(since your DB is running in noarchivelog), it will always apply that changes too while recovering.
    if you execute the restore commands shown by you, RMAN will restore the datafiles (if any file is missing and backup is available), apply the changes (if available in the logs) and open it..
    Rman is more suited for productin DB s where DB is running most of the time and in archivelog mode. In your scenario, I think, a cold backup is suited...

  • How to restore Ipod database without iTunes?

    Hi,
    My iPod mini is visible to any aplication except iTunes. I have tried all it sugested on the manuals to fix it and nothing worked.
    Others applications like RealPlayer and Anapod can see that the iPod is connect but can´t show its content. RealPlayer says that the database file doesn´t exist or is corrupted.
    The only way I can see my files is accessing the iPod-Control directory using windows.
    If I disconect it from the Pc I can´t see the musics that are on it.
    I have made a copy of the songs that were on it and now I want to know how to restore it without use iTunes, because nothing makes iTunes see it.
    Is there any update link that still work on apple website, so I don´t need to use iTunes?
    I need to restore my iPod without iTunes because unistall, check register, restarts,... did not work.

    can you please tell how to restore
    yes it is a datafile corruptionYou did not say how you defined that's a datafile corruption. You provide minimum to zero information.
    I just need to bring the database up,no need any exact data
    I can refresh from prod laterThen drop and recreate database. Basically and since you are not in archive mode, no recover is possible. Period.
    Nicolas.Hi,
    How did you come to the conclusion that your datafile is corrupted? Can you provide and supported logs?
    Regards .....

  • Problem with restoring a database from cold backup

    All,
    I've got a 10.2.0.4 database that we perform a cold backup on every night with RMAN. On Sunday 2/21, we have level 0 backup. On Monday-Wednesday nights, we take a cold level 1. We also perform a controlfile auto backup each night.
    On a second server where I want to restore the database (same version of Oracle 10.2.0.4), I've copied the control file auto backups, the level 0 and the most recent level 1. I now want to restore. I use an RMAN script similar to the following to restore the control files:
    connect target /;
    set dbid 1973354860;
    # Restore the controlfile from the tag that auto backed up the controlfile at the end of the level 0
    run
    startup nomount;
    allocate channel c1 type disk;
    restore controlfile to '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/ORADB1/control01.ctl' from AUTOBACKUP;
    restore controlfile to '/u02/app/oracle/oradata/ORADB1/control02.ctl' from AUTOBACKUP;
    restore controlfile to '/u03/app/oracle/oradata/ORADB1/control03.ctl' from AUTOBACKUP;

    shutdown immediate;
    After the control files restore successfully, I perform some RMAN checks to ensure that all of the files I need for a recovery are there. The RMAN> list backup of database; command shows all of my backup savesets as AVAILABLE for the level0 and level1 backups.
    I then try a restore database command; and get the following errors:
    RMAN> run

    So I'm unclear as to why RMAN believes the backups of these files don't exist when I attempt to restore the database. Anyone have a clue?

  • Restore 9i database from tape to 10g ASM

    We have a plan to upgrade 9i database to 10g ASM. The current 9i database is using file systems on AIX5L. This is a VLDB of size >3TB. I want to restore production copy to test environment. There is no test environment for this database now. So, if I want to restore to test, we need 3TB for file systems and another 3TB for ASM disk groups for migration. Instead, Is there any way I can restore production Oracle 9i backup directly into Oracle 10g ASM disk groups. So that, we can save 3TB of space allocation for file systems. Also, it will save time instead restore 9i database to test, upgrade to 10g and then migrate to ASM.
    I agree that this is the space to be allocated temporarily. But, as per our company standards, the project needs to procure temporary space too.

    You cannot restore a 9i RMAN backup into 10G.
    You can use either export/import or transportable tablespace.
    You can use below method:
    1. Use transportable tablespace to migrate 9i to 10G.
    2. Initially migrate all datafiles to filesystem.
    3. Then migrate all datafiles to ASM.
    Apart from this , you have one more option . upgrade existing 9i database to 10G and the use RMAN to restore it to 10G ASM database.

  • Need to restore a table which is del by mistake my archive log is on

    Hi Guru's
    i took full backup through RMAN. My archive log in ON.
    After taking backup one of table is deleted by mistake ,how can i restore it ?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    The solution depends on your Oracle Release and if you enabled RECYCLE BIN and/or FLASHBACK LOG.
    If the Table was dropped and you are in Oracle *9.2* or earlier release, you need to Restore/Recover the Database (from the RMAN BACKUP) to a time before the Table was dropped, somewhere else (another server,...). Then from this Database you may export the Table and import it to the original Database.
    If the rows of the Table were just Deleted (so the Table still exists), you may (in 9.2) use FLASHBACK QUERY to get back the deleted rows.
    If you are in *10.1* or later release, then if the Table was dropped you may use FLASHBACK DROP to get it back (see the previous post from Kamran). If the rows were just deleted (so the Table still exists) you may use FLASHBACK QUERY or more efficiently FLASHBACK TABLE:
    http://www.oracle-developer.net/display.php?id=313
    About FLASHBACK QUERY, it depends on the Undo Retention time (it should be large enough), and the table shouldn't have Column of specific Datatype like LONG or LOB:

    Hope this help.

  • Restore a database in a new instance with different name

    Hello, I need restore a database in a different server. I have a backup of 01-Jan-2008 on tape on DataProtector and I need to restore in another server in order to extract some information for a datawarehouse, I need restore with a name different because on that server we have a standby database. The both servers are HP ia64 and have Unix. I have installed Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 EE. I read the Oracle RMAN Advanced but the process is for duplicate the database, I need restore a backup from 01-Jan-2008. Can you help me please. What steps should I run. Thanks for your answer.
    Ruben Nieto
    DBA

    Hi Ruben Nieto,
    Can you check on the target if the backup pieces are still registered in the controlfile?
    < connect target /; >
    < list backup completed before 'to_date('2009-01-02:00:00:00','YYYY-MM-DD:HH24:MI:SS')'; >
    If no information is available:
    1) "I can't use the same name for the database." -> excludes a restore/recover on the standby server.
    2) "how can I restore the database whitout catalog in other server" -> excludes a duplication to new name.
    If you want to keep it simple find a third HP ia64 machine where you can mirror your production environment and restore the complete backup set and recover the database keeping the name of the target.

  • Restore wss_content database from network farm to VM

    Hi
    Here is my set up: We have a SharePoint 2013 farm on our network. An extranet solution is being developed by a third party which they are deploying to this server. We have a bespoke Contact Management system that has some integration with our existing
    SharePoint 2007 extranet. I need to test the integration process also works with the new 2013 extranet. I have therefore set up a couple of VMs - one local domain controller and one the runs the CMS and current extranet. The third party have sent me a copy
    of their SharePoint development VM which is it's own DC. I have set up a trust between the two domains.
    I need to update my local SharePoint 2013 VM with the latest solution/content from the farm on our network. The third party have suggested doing a backup and restore using Central Admin. However, I am having problems restoring the wss_content database
    and get a message that says 'The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication'
    The account I am using for the import in the VM is a Farm Administrator, the account the Central Admin application pool is running under and is sysadmin on the database.
    Any suggestions on what I could try would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Qaaweb,
    For this issue, I need to verify the things below with you:
    1. How did you restore the database?
    2. Was there an existing database with the same name?
    If yes, you need to make sure that the user account is a member of the sysadmin and dbcreator fixed server roles and the owner (dbo) of the database.
    If not, you need to make sure that the user account must have CREATE DATABASE permissions to be able to execute RESTORE.
    Best regards.

  • Restore Rac database in another cluster

    Hello, I have a rac database in a clusterware compose by two node, for example node_1 and node_2, but now I need to pass the rac database from this original cluster to another that already exist.
    I have two idea but I do not know if they are correct. One is create a template from my Rac database, and then in the second cluster create a rac database from it. The second idea is to make a copy of the pfile and level 0 RMAN backup in one node of the second cluster and then restore the database there.
    Maybe twice idea are bad or maybe exist a better form to do it. I hope you can help me.

    Hi,
    Well, I believe that I was not clear in my last explanation.
    The hypothetical scenario is:
    One database using ASM (database name orcl) , two inatances in two separated servers (nodes serv1 and serv2) and two instances ( orcl1 and orcl1).
    In this scenary I lost everything and just have the backups of spfile, controlfile, database and archives.
    So the steps to recovery is (using serv1):
    1- Create the cluster (install clusteware, create CRS/Vdisk, create ASM instance)
    2 - Just install the oracle files in all nodes serv1 and serv2, but don't create the instance orcl1 and orcl2.
    3 - restore/recover spfile - rman
    4 - restore/recover controlfile - rman
    5 - restore/recover database with until clause - rman
    After these steps the instance orcl1 will be restored by RMAN in the serv1 and the database orcl was created in the ASM.
    But, plese correct if I'm wrong, the instance and database will not be registered in CRS (RMAN not register the instance).
    So I need to registry the instance and database with srvctl, doing:
    1 - create PFILE in serv1 for orcl1 (that point to SPFILE in ASM) and ORAPWD file.
    2 - add the database orcl to CRS
    3 - add the instance orcl1 to CRS
    4 - add the dependency about ASM and orcl1 from the node serv1 (using srvclt)
    But after this I have the instance orcl2 in serv2 to create.
    Just the instance, because the binaries already installed and the database was already created.
    TO complete I need to do the steps:
    1 - Copy/Create PFILE for instance orcl2 in serv2
    2 - add the instance orcl2 to CRS (using srvctl add instance)
    3 - add the dependency about ASM instance (that exists in server2) and Instance orcl2 from the node serv2 (using srvctl)
    4 - create PFILE and ORAPWD file.
    The question is, RMAN will registry the instanci and database in CRS?
    Another question, the RMAN will create PFILE and registry all instances of the original cluster?
    I believe that not for two questions, correct?
    Exists another path to restore/recover the RAC in this scenary?
    Thanks.
