LMS 3.2 RME 4.3.1 - Inventory goes into running status never completes.

I recently added 15 switches to my CiscoWorks install via the DCR.  I waited a bit and none of them were discovered. I tried to kick start a job in inventory in the RME but they wouldn't leave the running state. I poked around the theads here and checked for ../CSCOpx/conf/csdiscovery/DiscoveryStatusObj (it wasn't there) and then tried running "pdexec  CSDiscovery".  This didn't fix my problem.  I bounced all the CW services, problem is still there.  Anyone have any ideas?

Joe,
Thanks for the reply.  I've tried to do the pdterm and pdexec for the ICServer, but it's still not working.  I've opened a case with TAC now. So far he's reset the causer account.  We've tried to manually kick off an inventory job after we've put the device type in.  None of that worked so he had me send a few of the job folders as well all the ICServer logs and the logs that come from archive syncs.  I plan on calling in a few hours to check on the status.  Any ideas as to where we can go from here?

  • LMS 3.2 - RME 4.3.1 Inventory Collection never stops (Job Result = pending)

    Hello all,
with our LMS-System running on Solaris 10 we have the following problem:
    - Inventory Collection never stops after starting
    - This can be seen with all devices or 1 device selected
    - Config-Mgmt is working
    - After re-init of RME-DB the problem persists
In Logfile (IC_Server.log) no problems are shown.
In Job-Logfile only the collection request is shown.
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks for your feedback
    Lothar

    Hi Joe,
with further troubleshooting this problem I discoverd the following.
    - Having problems with inventoring certain Cat4000 we requested patch for Bug-ID CSCtb16925 (LibInventory.zip-File).
    - Replacing this file with the old one or installing the newest IDU for RME the problem was solved.
It seems that the LibInventory.zip file given with Bug-ID CSCtb16925 is somewhat buggy (maybe in context with device-number) greater
    than 1000.
    Thanks for your support.
    Lothar

  • LMS 3.2 RME 4.3.1 Inventory collection failing for switches

I have 6 switches that inventory is failing for.  They do run the 12.2(33)SXI3 software but I have the CSCtb16925-1.0  patch installed.  I've tried to increase the SNMP timeout for the devices but they still fail.
    Ideas?
    Chris Jasztrab

You did not properly increase the SNMP timeout.  Go to RME > Devices > Device Management > RME Devices, and edit the attributes of the device in question.  Perform an inline edit.  Click on the device name, then change the existing SNMP timeout value to 10.  Then save your changes, and apply them on the previous screen.  Then inventory collection should work.

  • LMS 3.2 RME 4.3.1 Inventory Failing for Switches

I have two 6500 Series switches that RME is not able to get the inventory for.  It keeps on failing.  I have tried to increase the SNMP timeout to a larger number also increased the telnet timeout.  I've seen it asked for in other posts.  Here is my ICServer log after i tried a collection.

This is bug CSCtb16925.  A patch is available from the TAC to correct it.

  • EoS/EoL hardware report problem on LMS 3.2 RME 4.3.1

    Hi,
Trying to run EoS/EoL RME reports for the first time and having problems. I have applied latest patch for CSCte717641 and this seems to have made things a little better. Originally the hardware report simply failed, but now it seems to run, but never finish. To avoid any download problems, I have manually downloaded both the EOX_SOFTWARE.ZIP and the PSIRT_EOX_OFFLINE.txt, which I have placed into the "NMSRoot\rme\jobs\inventory\reports\EOX_PSIRT\local_xml" folder. The PSIRT file has been un-compressed and put in as .txt and the EOX file has been left as a .zip. Now the report starts running, I can see it creating a temp folder in the above folder and it seems to place two files in there eos_card and eos_device, but then it appears to delete the temp folder and the job just sits at running?
    Any advice would be appreciated

This is from the time I ran the report.

  • LMS 3.2: RME failed archive with Nexus 5010

    Hi,
LMS 3.2, RME 4.3.1, dev packages updated, Windows.
We would like to archive the configuration of the Nexus 5010 switches. Due to authentication with Radius based on tokens we're not able to use telnet/SSH and therefore we only can use SNMP WRite in combination with TFTP.  But, this is not working at all. Other systems like 3750 works fine. Is there a difference between Catalysts IOS and nexus NXOS?
I searched the forum and found this:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/663481#663481
upgrade to LMS 2.6, archive config not working anymore
We ship and start a TFTP server by default on Windows.  You must have an SNMP read-write community string configured on your devices, and entered in DCR for TFTP config fetches to work.  Additionally, udp/69 must be open between device and server.
The easiest way to troubleshoot this kind of problem is to start a sniffer trace on the LMS server (using Device Center > Packet Capture).  Filter on all traffic to one of the failing devices.  Then, run a Sync Archive job for that same device.  When it fails, the sniffer trace will indicate what the problem is

    Hi Lavramov,
Yes I'm quite sure, I installed the required packages acoording to the Nexus.RME431.v2-2.readme.pdf manual. the manual tell me to install the following (see also attachement).
To install the Cisco Nexus Series Package, you must install the following dependent packages:
    - SharedDcmaSS.RME431.v2-2.zip
    - SharedInventoryMDS.RME431.v1-5-1.zip
    - SharedSwimMDS9000.RME431.v1-6-1.zip
    - SharedNetshowSS.RME431.v1-1.zip

  • Inventory Management Collection run

We would like to increase our Inventory Management Collection run to every 5 minutes (currently every hour).  Can anyone forsee a problem with this or have experienced a problem
We have an Unserialized V3 update
    Thanks

I do not see any issue. The LUW count of the records getting written to the delta queue might increase marginally, but that should not be an issue.

  • Formula automatically populate the date when inventory goes to "zero"

Hello- I am trying to create a formula that will automatically populate the date when inventory goes to "zero".
    Date: Row 3 Columns P-AB
    Inventory: Rows 5-400 Columns P-AB
Column J rows 5-400 is where I want the inventory run-out date to auto-pop
with so many rows of data, where stock goes to "O" will clearly vary per row. I want this formula, to look between Col. P-AB and tell me in Col. J when my inventory goes to "zero"
    Thank you!

Thank you for your reply...using your formula, I'm still not coming up with inventory run-off date from row 3.
I need Column J to give me the date when my inventory is "0".

  • Unable to see views Active Alerts, Discovered Inventory, Distributed Applicatios, Task Status, Unix/Linux Computers, Windows Computer under Monitoring workspace after upgrading to UR6

    Hi All,
Recently I upgraded SCOM 2012 SP1 CU5 to CU6 and facing following issue:
    1. New menu item got grayed out that appears upon the right click on Monitoring node(root) under monitoring workspace.
    2.  When we click Monitoring in the navigation pane, the Monitoring Overview opens, which displays a summary of health states and alerts. if we click any of the numbers in the overview, it is supposed to open a state view of the selected category but
this function does not work now.
    3. Views like Active Alerts, Discovered Inventory, Distributed Applications, Task Status, Unix/Linux Computers and Windows Computer do not appear under Monitoring workspace after upgrading to UR6.
Has anyone out there facing such kind of issue? Any help on fixing these issues would be appreciating.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Have you re-opened the operation manager console?
There are some known issues when intalling UR6, please go through it:

I think you need to update the database from the applet.
Then refresh the page to sync with values in the database.

  • LMS 3.0.1, RME 4.1.1 - Inventory Collection Status displays too many device

Running LMS 3.0.1 with RME 4.1.1 on a Windows box. On the Inventory Collection Status screen I see the following:
Inventory Collection Status No. of Devices
    Inventory Collected: 1246
    Inventory Never Collected: 0
    Inventory Recently Failed: 34
    Total 1246
The problem with this is that I only have 668 devices. Is this just a cosmetic issue?

Assuming you're not integrated with ACS, then yes.  If integrated with ACS, some of the devices may not be authorized.  You will need to check your ACS configuration to make sure all devices in LMS are known to ACS and that your user (and the System Identity User) is authorized to manage them.

With only excerpts of logs and no debugging, it's impossible to say what the problem is.  I don't see anything here that shows a problem.  Enable ICServer debugging under RME > Admin > System Preferences > Application Loglevel Settings.  Then, if possible, reschedule the system polling job to run while you are there.  It is important to be able to capture a thread dump of the job's JVM as well as ICServer's JVM when the output in the job log stops.  To capture these dumps, send a SIGQUIT to the PIDs of ICServer and the job.  You can get both PIDs from the output of the pdshow command.  The job's process name will be the job ID number.

  • RME 4.0.6 Inventory change filtering

    Hello
My question is about the Inventory change filtering in RME 4.0.6 under LMS 2.6
I get hundreds of records like :
    Port Identity: PortID = 1024
    Attribute
    Type of Change
    Time Change Detected
    Previous Value
    Current Value
    Port Serial Number

    Manufacturer Name
    New
    2010-03-31 03:04:15.69
    or
    IfEntry Identity: IfEntryID = 1
    Attribute

    2009-06-19 13:32:19.783
    2009-06-19 13:32:24.043
    or
    Port Identity: PortID = 1058
    Attribute
    Type of Change
    Time Change Detected
    Previous Value
    Current Value
    Port Serial Number

    H11F907
    Manufacturer Name
    New
    2010-03-31 03:30:59.24
What is the meaning, and where does that changes come from and are they useful, cause no changes were performed ?
I guess this is not really significant, and I tried to filter them wtih the inventory change filter, which was unsuccessfull. Could you advise how I can filter them ?
    Thanks in advance

I'm not sure about why the first value changed.  My guess is that a port was added to this device.  To filter this, check the boxes next to:
    Port:Port Serial Number
    Port:Manufacturer Name
The second one is quite common.  Any time an interface changes state, its ifLastChange time will change.  This may not be useful, especially on switch ports.  To filter this one out, check the box next to:
    Interface:Last Change
The last entry looks to be another added port.  Again, you would filter out the elements I listed above.
All that said, seeing things like serial number an manufacturer name change might be useful.  You should think twice before filtering those.  Filtering out Last Change for interfaces, though, is probably a safe thing to do.

  • LMS 3.2 RME 4.3.1 Archive Jobs hang

    LMS 3.2 Windows 2003 R2 8Gig RAM
Managing ~4000 devices currently on LMS 3.1. Built new LMS3.2 server and patched to RME 4.3.1.
Import from csv file works fine and RME inventory collection/ Campus Manager Data Collection all works perfectly.
Archive Jobs hang (at random device #'s) after starting successfully.
I have tried restarting ConfigMgmtServer process, rebooting, even reinit CMF, RME and ANI db and starting from scratch but issue persists.
Are there any known issues with LMS 3.2 on Archive Jobs hanging or should I debug and open TAC case?

Resolution Summary:Checked the dcmaService.log and found the following recurring statements.
    com.cisco.nm.xms.xdi.pkgs.LibCommon.common.CommonUtility,getMinSupportedVersion,406,Descr = 12.2(50)SE
    [ Tue Oct 26  15:58:45 CDT 2010 ],DEBUG,[main],com.cisco.nm.xms.xdi.pkgs.LibCommon.common.CommonUtility,getMinSupportedVersion,405,suppSysId = .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.927
    [ Tue Oct 26  15:58:45 CDT 2010
Checked that the device IOS was well above the version specified in the logs, so thought may be an issue with the device packages.
Checked the mdf version was 1.25 which came as default when we install LMS 3.2, so upgraded the mdf version to 1.45.
Still the issue didn't got solved, so upgraded the RME device packages and now the archive job was successful.
