LMS 3.2 Veritas HA requirements question

In the Install document, for Windows Install, the Veritas HA solution says it only supports 32-bit Windows OS and Windows 2003.  I see the document was written in May and I was wondering if it will support 64-bit Windows 2008 now?  Also, will 4.0 support Windows 2008 64-bit using the Veritas HA solution?  I am wondering if this document is saying it won't work or just that it is untested.  This is the document I am looking at:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/3.2/install/guide1/lmsig.pdf

Only 32-bit will work with LMS 3.2.  I have not heard definitively if 64-bit is being added for 4.0, but my understanding is there were not many changes in the HA space.  You may want to consider the VMWare/VMotion alternative for HA as it will support 64-bit Windows 2003 and 2008.

  • New XSan setup requirements questions

    Hello All,
We're in the process of installing XSan in our facility, swapping out our current SanMP configuration. I had three questions about metadata controllers.
    1) How CPU intensive is the XSan MDC function? I wanted to repurpose one of our MacPro 1,1 as an XSan metadata backup controller, but I'm a bit worried that the cpu won't be Zippy enough, it's a 2.8ghz dual-core x2 xeon. This would be the back up controller and exclusively dedicated to the task.
    2) I understand that running XSan requires an OS X Server to manage permissions etc. But if I recall from our experience with XSan 1, the MDC could run on OS X client version just fine. The current Apple lit says otherwise. Would I be able to run our backup MDC on OS X client? We already have another xserve functioning as our OD master/file serve. So the Primary MDC running on OS X Server would already be the redundant OD.
    3) How fast does the MDC FC connection need to be? If my clients are all on 4/8gb x2 connections, can I run my MDCs on 2gb? or single 4gb? My understanding is they are generally just accessing the metadata LUN, in which case, that LUN itself is the bottle neck to performance.
Thanks in advanced for all your help.

Speaking metadata, I suggest you look into this: http://www.getactivestorage.com/pr041210-1.php
Active is onto something here and this answers a huge problem when scaling a SAN. Now your storage arrays can all use the max number of drives per box.
    As for your other questions:
1: CPU is not a huge deal but do things right. Get an MDC and an MDB and let them do just SAN control. Scale your RAM needs to allow for 4 GB of RAM per SAN volume if you are doing AD permissions and (gasp) Spotlight. Thus, if you have one ingest volume and one work volume, have 8 GB of RAM + another 4 for the OS. More is better. Don't expect to use the devices as cluster nodes either. Leave the processing elsewhere.
2: Using server is recommended and the official way to do it. If you already have an OD Master, then just connect the MDC and MDB to the domain. They do not need to be replicas.
Just my two cents. Enjoy Xsan.

  • Basic archive space requirements question from NON DBA :)

I am a storage admin trying to get a better understanding of RMAN.
My question is for backuplevel.1 does RMAN require free space to write archive information or archive logs to to complete this backup? My DBA says
"no" after I requested that he clean up the archive directory which is 100% utilized. Am I incorrect?
I hope I have explained my question properly. I am new to RMAN and if anyone can point me to this answer either way in writing - that would be much appreciated!
    Mike

I'm in agreeance with ORADBA, but something that comes to mind as well is that RMAN can be configured to use flash recovery area. Flash recovery area has an initilization setting that amounts to what ever space you will need in that area. The area can contain archivelogs, RMAN backups and other recovery files. Not only does the initialization space setting have to 'have enough space' for flash recovery, but also the physical space must be there. Cleaning up / controlling archive in Oracle can be fickle, and seeing it from DBA side, I'd say that if he can control it to stay within limits, he's doing well. Ta, David

  • SMS - iMac and Yosemite Requirements Question

A question about requirements for SMS....
    iPhone running on 8.1.2
    2010 iMac running on 10.10.1
    2007 iMac running on 10.10.1
2012 Macbook Air also running on 10.10.1
SMS works fine on the Macbook Air (check)
SMS does NOT work on the 2010 iMac
SMS DOES work on the 2007 iMac
What is confusing to  me is I just went though about 2 hours with Apple support.  They discovered that the reason SMS is NOT working on the 2010 iMac is that under system information you see this:
    BluetoothLow Energy Supported: No
    Handoff Supported: No
    Instand Hotspot Supported: No
Under the Macbook air, all these fields are YES.
Now here is the confusing thing...
On the iMac 2007, they are all set to NO, but SMS works fine!
    So, my question is...
What are the true requirements to have SMS work correctly?
You need IOS 8 and Yosemite
You need a specific piece of hardware?
Support told me that the 2007 iMac should NOT be working because the Bluetooth fields are set to NO, but it does!
Any clarification in this would be appreciated.
And sorry this is so long!
    Bluetooth Low Energy Supported: No

  • LMS 4.2.4 - ANI database question

I can query the ANI database:-
    ANI DB User = cwsiSA
                   p/w = <snip>
                     d/b name = ani
Query   > select * from wbuport
and get the row count thus:-
    SQL Statement:
    select * from wbuport
Query Result   (Columns: 11   Rows: 193351)
But I need to ascertain the maximum number of rows (ports) - is there a document stating this piece of information?

    Hi Afroz,
Maybe my question should have been better worded; my SQL query merely illustrates how I determine the current port count  i.e. rows=ports in the table wbuport
What is the maximum number of device ports that is supported in a single instance of LMS 4.2.4?

  • Javascript for custom Exit button on Saba LMS with SCORM 2004 v3 requirements.

What should I add to the javascript panel on a custom exit button in Captivate to properly exit a course uploaded to a Saba LMS with SCORM 2004 requirements?

I can confirm that the approach recommended by georgeyp worked for me with Captivate 5.5 and Saba. After publishing in Captivate, I opened the SCORM zip package and edited the imsmanifest to remove the masteryscore line. It seems that the LMS has nothing to compare to the 0 score value passed by Captivate and so it does not move the incomplete course to the Transcript and mark it ‘Unsuccessful’.
I did not have an issue with the course getting stuck on the first screen and just showing the LMS initialization text.
Note that I also tried the additional code (suggested but not guaranteed by Saba) and it did not solve the problem. I also tried using the 'SendTrackingDataAtEnd' SCORM template available in Captivate under Preferences > Quiz > Reporting. It did not solve the problem either.

  • System Requirements Question

I am using Elements 7 for my video editing, and am thinking of upgrading my camcorder to HD to take advantage of Prel7's HD capability.
Question is, do I need to upgrade my computer too.
Currently, my desktop CPU has a dual core Pentium 2.8GB processor with 2GB RAM, running under Windows XP.
The suggested system requirements by Adobe for HD transfer and editing with Prel7 call for a 3GB processor speed and 2GB RAM.
I seem to have enough RAM, but can anyone tell me if the dual-core 2.8's will be enough to handle HD transfers and editing?
    Thanks everyone.
    Mike

Hunt - you said I could burn the project to a blu ray folder "for later" - but I can't see that option in the "Share" menu. It doesn't give me an option to burn to a folder under Blu Ray, unlike under the DVD option. Am I missing that?
    Mike,
Unfortunately, I may have mispoken, regarding the capabilities of PrE to Burn to Folder for BD. I do not use PrE for my authoring, preferring to use Adobe Encore. I do seem to remember comments that PrE 7 cannot Burn to Folder for BD. I apologize for that. OTOH, one can Export from PrE and use a more powerful authoring program for the DVD/BD production. Adobe Encore is no longer available as a stand-alone, and is only bundled with CS3 & CS4 PrPro. However, Sony's DVD Architect gets some high marks for authoring. Steve Grisetti, MOD here and on Muvipix, has written a book about using DVD Architect. He would know of its capabilities regarding the ability to Burn to Folder for BD. As I only use Encore, I do not test a lot of other software, regardless of how good these might be.
Sorry that I confused Encore with PrE7. My bad.
As for the "quality loss" when down-rezing your HD material to SD - there are three things to think about:
1.) just the loss in resolution going to the smaller sized Project, i.e. from HD down to DVD-Video (big difference)
2.) the methods that Adobe NLE's use to down-rez - this is what Dan Isaac's article is all about *
3.) one's player's abilities and methods to then up-rez SD material to be viewed on an HD TV - can be big differences in the algorithms used by each player and player type.
Good luck, and thanks for both posting your findings and correcting me.
    Hunt
    *  This is not that much different than resizing stills in PS vs letting the NLE do it. There are many of the same types of considerations

  • PC Requirements question and PP CS4 crashing constantly (Newb post)

I'm having a problem where I basically can not run PP without it crashing constantly. I've looked at the PC requirements, have since upgraded my RAM to 3GB, and noticed a requirement of OpenGL 2.0. Looking at my hardware, I see that I have OpenGL, but not OpenGL 2.0. Would this cause Premiere to constantly crash?
    Here's what I found:
Everything else meets the requirments. I am also attaching the spec document provided by the PC maker.
    Any help appreciated.
Best regards, and I apologize for the newbishness of this post,
    Brian H.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your system is ready for a complete overhaul. Get a new system. At the moment you purchased it, it may have been a reasonable gaming machine with all the HP crap and iTunes and the like installed, but with an integrated video card with only 128 MB memory, this is, in the CS4 era, seriously taxing your editing experience.
Get a new system.... and avoid having crap installed. When you buy a complete system, start by reformatting and only installing what you need. This avoids all the crap that is usually included with the system and that causes so much trouble.
Read about it in the following guides:
How to get the best from a PC? Some guides...
If you only edit DV you may get by with your current system, but it is not enough for HDV or any other advanced format. If you keep this system, it may be advisable to make a complete reinstall of OS and CS4, getting rid of all pollution and crap you may have gathered in the years.

  • License requirements question

    All,
I have the following question (stranger question):
I just developed a SimpleMap class which is an equivalent of the HashMap from java.util, but very specialized with respect to some special uses cases I am dealing with.
There is no dependency between my class and java.util.HashMap, SimpleMap is standalone. But certain portions of the code DO use techniques found in HashMap.java source code, namely: bucket index computation and Entry chaining (linked list simulation). Looks like I inspired from the JDK sources
The question is: am I allowed to distribute this code? Do I need to include any reference to SUN along with the source code ? I did not have the time to browse license agreement stuff, unfortunately. However, if you guys can provide some links or even inline details they will be more than apreciated.
I assume that hash-tables are anyway some standard stuff, so I do not see the point in mentioning that indexing and entry chaining was done as in SUN classes. But if you know I MUST do this, please let me know.
    Thanks a lot,
    Cristian

Try using the following command to test the license installation.
    saplicense -test
If you still have problems, restart the server.

    SKM

  • LMS 3.2 DFM-all devices QUESTIONED-SNMP Timeout

I imported 26 devices to DFM. All devices became QUESTIONED, error is SNMP timeout. Here are the troubleshooting steps that I tried:
    1. rediscovered devices
    2. deleted and rediscovered devices
    3. increase snmp timeout settings
4.re-entered snmp strings in device credentials
But I still get the same result.I noticed that devices become questioned so fast.Any advise on this?

    Hi,
What version of SNMP you are using on these 26 devices ?Try to do the following:
    - Go to Device Center
    - Select one device for test
    - click on "check device credentials", select SNMP according to the version you are using.
    - See the results.
May be you get more technical and detailed information about the SNMP timeout error. I have already experienced some problems using SNMP v3. The problem was resolved when I configured the SNMP v2c instead of v3.
Also, I suggest you to try do "SNMP walk" test in the Device Center. If you get some results reading, for example, the value of "sysObjectId", just verify the Credentials Settings in DCR. You can edit the Credentials trhough the Device Center -> Edit device credentials.

  • Forecast/Planned Indepedent Requirements question

    Hi SAP Experts
Is there a report in SAP that shows me Planned Independent Requirements and the Consumption (Shipped) of the planned quantities and the Assignment of future quantities?
MD73 shows me this by Material.
Need a Plant only as input and details for that Plant.
    Thanks

    Dear,
    For PIR information
    Pls try following
Use table Along with PBIM and PBED tables, include PBHI - Independant requiremnts history and check
First use PBHI to get Reqmts pointer, then entry Reqmts pointer to get other information via PBIM or PBED
    Also check ;
Standard Report for PIR /Purchasing inforecord condition records.
    Hi
The standard report MCRE can show the requirement quantity and withdrawn quantities, this is a report of information system.
Please make sure that the corresponding info structures S026 and S226 is set to be updated in customization OMOD.
The report read the data from the 2 tables S026 and S226 and they are updated when the requirement quantitis are created by production orders and they are issued.

  • Deploying updates - required question

When I am looking to deploy updates in SCCM.  If for an update the required column is "0"...does that mean that update is not needed on any of the computers on my network?
If yes does that mean I should not deploy that update to my environment?

That indeed means that it's not required by any of the systems that performed a recent scan. If your not planning on creating situations where the update would be required then you don't have to deploy the update.
Keep in mind that a client will only download and install updates that are deployed and required on that client.
