LMS 3.2 - VRF information in Usertracking

Hello,
is there a way to see VRF information for Clients in usertracking with LMS 3.2 ?
Best Regards
Hendrik

No, this is not possible.  VRF information is only available in VNM, and on the Campus Topology map.

Using LMS is there a way to run a job which would extract the VRF name in part of the configuration and then use it as a variable to deploy additional configuration using the VRF name. We have a number of management VRF's and need to deploy a mass configuration change on a number of devices.

I am working for a service provider and I was given a task to configure more than 50000 devices (!). First I started with VBS and some scriptable terminal application, but it was too complicated to handle that much data. I then decided to develop my own application dedicated to device mass-configuration. As I understand your question, you may also find it useful : http://www.prettygoodterminal.com

  • LMS Not Receiving Score Information

In 3 out of 4 of my projects, the LMS is not receiving any score information from my Captivate 5 project. The only difference I've managed to find so far (and this might be a red herring) is that the one that successfully sends information has a different Interaction ID for every question, whereas the three failures have strange Interaction ID behavior (If you look at a question, it will have an interaction ID, say... 7078. If you look at another question, even if it's from a different lesson, then look back at that first question, it's interaction ID will have changed to whatever you were just looking at).

Note: The lesson itself is tracking the score perfectly, and displays the appropriate percentage at the end of the quiz.

  • LMS management ip & VRF

    Dear Clarke,
I've read the following URL which was very useful.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9005#Preferred_Management_IP
Dsepite of all I have not found solution  our problem.
We use the loopback method for discovery which is very good for remote routers. We use many VRF's also in devices. Same devices (etc. switches ) have not loopback interfaces.
So here the LMS choosed the highest IP address of devices . The problem that highest ip address are in the seperated VRF. After discovery the RME can not handle these devices. ( No config archive for example )
Why use the LMS the ip addreses from VRF's?
It will be good for us if LMS  uses the "default" VRF ip addresses only. Is it possible???
What is the good, single solution for both routers and switches?
    Thanks!

Sorry, I missed your reply.  The code that checks for reachability uses SNMP to fetch the sysObjectID.  If this fails, the next address in the ipAddrTable will be tried.  SNMP must be working to those chosen management addresses in order for Discovery to use them.  Troubleshooting this further would require debugging to be enabled for the System discovery module.  Then, the ngdiscovery.log would show the reachability checks.
That said, if SNMP is working to these addresses, but TFTP/telnet/SSH do not, an alternative woud be to use resolve by sysName, resolve by name, or none.  None might be an acceptable option as that will use the address by which the device was discovered.

  • No Device Name and Port in UserTracking Report for Ipphones

    Hello,
I'm having problems with Usertracking to IpPhones. The report provides information of usertracking IPPhone number, CCM Address, MAC, etc.. But the information in "Device Name" and "Port" (which would be connected) do not appear.
The CCM normally appear in Topology Services, and reports Usertracking EndHosts to operate normally, even in the same switches that the phones are connected.
    Thanks

What version of Campus Manager are you running ?
What version of the Call Manager do you have ?
What kind of IP Phone is this ?
Post screenshot of the problem re-run data collection and UT .  Ensure that you don't have any filters in place and all subnets are included.
Do an snmpwalk from the CiscoWorks LMS server to the Cisco Call Manager and see if you can poll those values from the cli and let us know the results using the "ccmPhoneTable"  ?
Get the ut.log and ani.log with neccesary debugs enabled for phones.

  • Maximizing the window in the LMS

We have a client who is needs to resize or maximize the screen each time they launch a course, because the LMS opens a new window which is the size of the screen without the TOC or playbar.
There doesn't seem to be a way in IE to force a new window to open maximized, except by doing it on each inidivual desktop by closing with Shift-close.  And the LMS gets all its information from Captivate - it doesn't have any controls.
Am I missing something?  We have over a hundred courses already loaded for them, so I'm hoping we don't have to re-publish everything.
    Can anybody help?

Pure HTML _new or _blank links do not have control of the size of a window they open. In the case of a Javascript link using the window.open() method, the physical size of the new window is set by the parameters given inside the method parentheses.
Neither of these two things is controlled by Captivate in an LMS environment because the LMS will be linking to the HTM for a given SCO to launch it.  Most LMSs have some kind of TOC in the SCORM player with links to launch SCO modules.  It is these LMS links that have (if any) ability to define the size of the window in which the content plays.  If your LMS is so devoid of options that it cannot allow your LMS admins to configure the opening window size, then Captivate is not going to fix this for you.
If your LMS Admins are so sure that Captivate is supposed to control the size of the window, ask them to show you where Captivate does this. My bet is that they know little or nothing about Captivate and are passing the blame for the issue.
Most LMSs I have worked with gave you control over the launch window size IF the content was set to open in a new window.  However, if the content was just being launched in the existing player window, then the user was expected to expand this to whatever size they wanted the browser to be.  Not all LMSs give you this control.  Some very expensive LMSs offer no configuration options for window size (e.g. SumTotal) whereas many open-source LMSs do (e.g. Moodle).

  • Cisco LMS 4 IEFrame

    Hello,
i have added a IEFrame in a LMS Dashboard containing some information about Cisco WCS. I works fine, just there is an issue when i open my Dashboard and I didn't start WCS before the IE Frame not showing the information. I tried to set the credentials in the IE Frame Configuration but still the same.
Further i'd like to add some Ie Frames showing authentication trends from my ACS. But i have no idea how to get the correct URL from the ACS dashboards.
    appreciate any feedback
    alex

You will likely need to login to WCS before the IFrame portlets will work.  I think prior versions of WCS provided the ability to use the credential interface within the portlet, but newer versions use a cookie/session based authentication mechanism.
I don't have a recent version of ACS handy anymore to look at, but I don't recall seeing any widget-like constructs in 5.2.  What I typically do when I need to find URLs is right-click on pages or frames and get info.  The info window will contain the direct link.

  • Extending VRF-lite to 6500??

    Hello,
I have a simple scenario, where there is a 6500 connected to a router (ISP end), which we have planned to implement vrf-lite on.... there are basically 2 VLANs on the LAN, one production and one guest... we need to isolate the routing table instances between the production and guest.. we have planned to configure trunk between the 6500 and PE router at the ISP end. 6500 acts as a CE here.
Now, I want to extend the VRF information from the PE to the 6500 CE, since the layer 3 VLANs terminate on the 6500. i will define the same VRF information on the 6500 and isolate VRF routing tables for the guest/production vlan on the LAN also.. I know we will require to configure VRF, RD, BGP etc on the PE router and do a "ip vrf forwarding" on the subinterface of the router. What is the configuration required on the 6500 to extend the VRF-lite information to the end vlans ????? does anyone have any sample configs or links to which i can refer ?
    Raj

    Well,
first a sample config (not from a 6500, but you should be able to get the idea):
    ip vrf Cust1
    rd 65000:1
    ip vrf Cust2
    rd 65000:2
    interface FastEthernet0/0.100
    encapsulation dot1Q 100
    ip vrf forwarding Cust1
    ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.252
    interface FastEthernet0/0.200
    encapsulation dot1Q 200
    ip vrf forwarding Cust1
    ip address 10.1.2.1 255.255.255.252
    interface FastEthernet0/0.300
    encapsulation dot1Q 300
    ip vrf forwarding Cust2
    ip address 10.20.1.1 255.255.255.252
    interface FastEthernet0/0.333
    encapsulation dot1Q 333
    ip vrf forwarding Cust2
    ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.252
!On a 6500 you could also have:
    interface vlan 400
    ip vrf forwarding Cust2
    ip address 10.1.123.1 255.255.255.252
    router rip
    address-family ipv4 vrf Cust1
    version 2
    network 10.0.0.0
    no auto-summary
    exit-address-family
    address-family ipv4 vrf Cust2
    version 2
    network 10.0.0.0
    no auto-summary
    exit-address-family
The separation in the control plane (routing etc.) is achieved through the normal VRF configuration. Overlapping IPs and such are supported by having separate IP routing tables per VRF and VRF aware routing protocols like RIP, OSPF, etc.
In the data plane traffic is sorted by layer2 encapsulation. In the example above, the dot1Q VLAN tag will deliver the same functionality as the MPLS VPN labels. If f.e. an IP packet with destination 10.1.1.1 arrives, the VLAN tag 100 or 333 will allow the VRF-lite CE to determine, whether it belongs to Cust1 or Cust2. The same differentation will take place for traffic from the CE to the PE. So the PE config is practically the same, BUT in addition MP-BGP and route-targets and MPLS towards the core is used.
So no MPLS is needed on the VRF-lite CE router, no labels will be used, hence VRF-lite.
The PE will not be the PHP LSR in the MPLS sense, because it is the LAST router in the MPLS network.
Instead of the FastEthernet also VLAN interfaces can be used. The number of interfaces per VRF or the number of VRFs are limited by memory.
Hope this helps! Please use the rating system.
    Regards, Martin

  • LMS, Captivate and C:drive tracking

We are implementing a new LMS however will need to place large captivate files on the local PC hard drives due to low bandwidth.  The user will access the local PC files through the LMS.  Need help in getting the LMS to receive SCORM information from the local PC files.  How can this be accomplished?

SCORM essentially dictates web-delivery. SCORM does not account for locally-delivered files with tracking to the web.
I'd love to know how you plan to 'access the local PC files through the LMS'...
Regardless, one approach is to create some custom SCOs, though I'm not sure this would work. A SCO manifest can point to resources outside the LMS itself, so you could theoretically...maybe...deliver the large media files to customers via CD or network share, then have the SCO launch an HTML file that looks to that local path to load the actual content. As long as the content passes it's tracking information to the index file, which in turn is passing the values to the LMS API via JS....that might work.
However, I'm sure there's some security issue trying to load local SWF files into a web-delivered HTML file...?
Otherwise, you could try to build a custom application that runs locally (i.e. AIR) to which users login, which then grabs their To Do list from the LMS and finds the related local SCOs, allows them to launch, track the results locally, then at some point synch those results with the LMS...
...but I can't imagine that's an easy task.
    HTH

  • Communicating with LMS and System Users

Thanks in advance for your help. I am looking for a solution and wondering if my request is even possible. Our training module needs to be able to communicate with our clients LMS and determine whether a user has taken our course previously or not. This functionality should guide the user to a specific path depending on their history. Is this even possible!? if so PLEASE HELP! Thanks again in advance!
    Hines,

If you manage to get the LMS to send this information in the form of a URL variable (e.g. www.mycourse.com?userName=Fred&doneCourseBefore=1) then there are ways to get that information from the URL via Javascript and then ActionScript into the course.
I think Jim Lechlitner wrote a post on something similar a while back on these forums.  He's the JavaScript guru around here. I couldn't find the exact post, but here's one that should get you some useful info about using JS with Captivate: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3645857#3645857

  • LMS 4.1 with CUCM 8.0.2 Phones only detected as End Hosts

    Hi,
looks like I still have an issue with LMS to recognize the IP Phones in UT as IP Phones.
SNMP RO on Call Manager is enabled and is green in CM (e.g. topology) - so SNMP get is basically fine.
The Phones are recognised as End Devices in UT.
As far as I understand, now if I start a Phone Aquisition, the CUCM is polled by LMS to gather additional information about the phones.
So it seems there is a problem with the SNMP polling of the Callmanager?
    thanks for any help!
    br.herwig

    Yes, its in DCR
below the device status of the Callmanager:
    20.
    192.168.2.10
    Callmanager
    192.168.2.10
    1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.583
    Cisco 7825H Media Convergence Server
The phones are collected by UT as end hosts (it is seen through the voice vlan called "UC"):
But this phones are not recognized as phones in UT:

  • Exporting text from text entry box

    Hi Everyone,
I am building a responsive project in CP8 and want to be able to extract (and store) the text that people type in the text entry boxes.
Is there a way that you can export or store the content. Perhaps the LMS can store the information and I can extract from there.
I have used window.print(); to print the page, but this is not ideal as not only does the learner need to save to PDF, but also it is in portrait orientation.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
For me i found 2 ways to to store text entries from user-input.
    1. Currently i am testing the moodle-lms and it is able to track the text-entries. In order to do so it is necessary to enable "check user input" (dont know if its correct namend, because i am using the german captivate version). Unfortunately, it was hard to find. In the evaluation / analysis part it was "hidden" under the "cmi.suspend-data" tag which consists of almost unreadable sequence of figures, signs and characters.
    2. Moreover, i am testing the adobe quiz result analyzer on an own server. The software itself is not able to output these entries, but every single xml-file that is created for every single user is storing the date entered by the user. As well you need to enable the "check user input" box, otherwise it is not possible to enable the checkbox "include in quiz" that is necessary to transmit data.
    cheers
    Andreas

  • How to see if an ip helper-address is configured on a VLAN

Hi - I'm not exactly new to networking but this question will likely say otherwise :)
I'm trying to figure out the command to show the running-config of a VLAN.  The goal is to see if an ip helper-address has been configured on a VLAN.
This is both for a Cisco 6509 and Nexus 5k.

Thanks for the prompt reply!  Still no bueno though.
On the 6509 I get the following:

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
On the Nexus 5K I can't complete the command, stops down at show ip interface with the following listed as ? after interface:
    5K# show ip interface ?
