LMS 4.0.1 and router serial module discovery

We run Ciscoworks LMS 4.0.1, is there a way to discover which of our wan routers have a specific module and which wan routers don't have a specific module?
Thanks
Frank

Hi,
Below is supported list of Operation system on LMS 4.0.1:

  • WS-X6848-SFP module are supported with LMS Prime 4.1 and 4.2

    Hi,
I would like to know if WS-X6848-SFP modules are supported with LMS Prime 4.1 and 4.2.
    Thanks for your help,
    SILVIA

It looks like they just added the WS-X6848-TX variant with the latest C6000IOS CiscoView package update (Version 37, dated 31 July 2012 - readme)
I'd expect the -SFP variant should be in the next update.
You should open a TAC case to make sure that it's brought to the attention of the dev team if they aren't already working on it. One of the tenets of Cisco Prime LMS is "Day 1 support" of new devices.

  • Discover Switch and router over VPN

i am in contact with a company having many branches connecting over VPN tunnel and with different IP range in each branch
how can i configure the LMs to discover my switch and my router over VPN

LMS 3.0.1 and higher can use non-CDP discovery methods which should be able to find your remotely connected VPN devices.  You could use the Ping Sweep or Route Table modules to accomplish what you want.
    See https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9005 for more details.

  • Labview FPGA compile stuck at "Place and Routing"

I am using LabVIEW 2010 SP1 32-bit FPGA module.  I've built a very large program that was first done back using LabVIEW 8.6, so I have several years experience on LabVIEW FPGA.
When I say it's a large program, I mean that a several times over the last couple years I've tried to add more functionality that has failed to compile do to not enough space on the target or timing restraints.  My target has mostly been the PCI/PXI NI-7813R.  Due to the nature of our product, a lot has to be done on one FPGA board.
When I do go "over the limit" the compile (after a couple hours) fails and tells me that there's just not enough room on the 7813.
Recently, however, I added some more code, thinking the odds were good that it might push me over the edge.  However, the compile never fails.  Unfortunately, it never stops either.  It gets to the "Placing and routing" portion of the compile and just stays there.  When I say stays there, I mean I've run it over night, and when I check it the next morning, the "Elapsed time" is over 10 hours, and still counting up.  The device utilization and estimated timing numbers are all under max.  And I see no errors in the report so far that I'm used to seeing.  Like I said, it just keeps compiling.
I've attached the Xilinx log.  It looks much like the log before I added the extra code, except it just stops logging with reporting any useful error.
Anyone have an idea what I could be doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Rick

    tannerite,
    Thanks for your response.
I added code that measures the "on time" of incoming DIO pulses.  If the pulses are HIGH for one given amount of time (eg. 60[+/- 5] usecs) it means one thing, if HIGH for a different amount of time (eg. 120[+/- 5] usecs) it means something else.  Generally speaking, I just keep a tick count between the rising and falling edge of the pulse, and use the "In Range and Coerce" from the Comparison Functions palette to check where the count lies.
When it compiled successfully, I duplicated the above code for 10 seperate DIOs.  Then I realized I needed to monitor 20 DIOs.  It was when I added the code for these extra 10 DIOs that I got the "forever" compile.  The compile problem occurs everytime I try to compile with the extra 10 DIO code in place.  As an experiment, I just added 4 extra DIOs, i.e. code to monitor a total of 14 DIOs.  This causes the same compile problem.
And yes, the compile seems to hang in the same place every time it hangs.  Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm just beyond the available resources available.  But when I've done this in the past, the compile does finally fail, and I get a useful error message.  I've never seen it go "forever".
Thanks ahead of time for any insight you might have.

    Hi, Guna R
Same industries we are going to implement sap PP-PI module , can you share some document, they are consumed Crude oil (Raw) and finally produced Refined Soya oil , in between that produced some By-product ,So how can we map process in sap and how the costing will done,
What will be the Recipe  ,
    What will be the  Resources
What will be Activity for costing

  • Which Switch and Router to choose?

I am interested in purchasing a Cisco Switch and Router, or possible a Cisco Switch Router.
However, I am not sure of what model to go with.
Currently, we have a network with about 200 Workstations and 30 Servers for our Corporation Infrastructure.
Also, for our lab, we have about 50 Linux Based Servers, and 30 Solaris Based Servers, that are part of our Network. We are a Research and Development Company, and we have had issues with the Lab machines bringing down our network, as well as our corporate network adversely affecting the lab machines. What we would like to do is segment the network so that the different areas will be isolated. However, we also would like to have a lot of control over the traffic that will be able to cross from our network into the lab so that users will still be able to run their tests.
Security is also an issue, and it would be great to have more control, and a better view of what kind of traffic is running through our network.
Currently, we have about 8 Gigabyte Switches which are unmanaged (Linksys and NetGear). Our idea was to get a 1 or 2 Cisco Switch Routers, and then split them up into VLANS and cascade our current switches so that we can still make use of them. The other ideas was to just get a Cisco Switch and use our CheckPoint Router/Firewall to do the routing.
Can you give me any advice as to what model of Cisco Product you would recommend?
Is it better to go with a Switch Router, or simply get a separate Switch and Router?
Please note that all of our Machines have 10/100/1000 NICs, so the device will need to be Gigabyte.
    Thanks you so much!

You have two choices. Either to use a chassis based solution or to use stacable switches such as a 3750. Are all the cat 5(or 5e,6) runs coming into one centralized location ? Or are there separate wiring closets that you plan to put. If then we need to put separate switches at those locations and run fiber back to the central location which has a chassis based or stackable switch.
If using a chassis based solution, you can get a 4506 (4507 for redundancy, with a redundant supervisor engine). Supervisor engine is nothing but the CPU of the switch. 4506 is a 6 slot modular switch with 2 power supplies for redundancy. You cannot add two Supervisor engines on a 4506 (4507 can).
Slot 1 is always for supervisor engine, the remaining 5 slots you can fill using 48 port 10/100/1000 modules.(48 * 5 = 240). So your maximum port density is 240 ports on a 4506. (Note that there are 4507, 4510 which are similar models with more slots)
If using 3750, you can stack upto 9 switches in a stack using stacking cables on the back side of the switch. Each switch will have 48 ports (10/100/1000) and you can stack 5 switches to get 240 ports.
For the firewall I would recommend using a PIX 515E, (Why go for Checkpoint firewall when you can use all Cisco). For routing between the vlans, the switches that I recommended above are all Layer 3 switches. They will route between the different vlans. You can also configure ACLs to restrict traffic between multiple vlans.

  • Switching between ap# and router#

    Hi
I have configured my Cisco 887VAMW with ADSL and Wifi but the only way I can configure the ap and router separately is to be connected to the router by ssh and the ap via console cable.
When at the ap# prompt, how do I get back to the router#?
I have tried the instructions on cisco.com:
    Closing the Session
To close the session between the wireless device and the router’s console, perform both of the following steps.
    Wireless Device
    1. Control-Shift-6 x
    Router
    2. disconnect
    3. Press Enter twice.
    But it doesnt work....help!!!
    Thanks

When you are in router# mode in order to enter ap# mode:
cmd: #service-module wlan-ap 0 session  -of course Im sure you have convered this
    from ap# to router#
PRESS: CTRL+SHIFT+6, let go, then just press X
-A line should appear on the cmd you did
    -Press enter once!

  • Problems with VISA and the serial port

    Hello,
i have a little problem with the serial port and VISA. I have changed an existing LabView- Software in that way that I have replaced the serial- module by the VISA- module. The function of the program is to communicate with different devices by RS232. After changing the modules to VISA the software doesn't work probably. The problem is, that when I try to communicate with one of the devices first I get no answer. When I try it a second time after some seconds the communication works perfect. After about a minute I send another message to my device but there is no answer again. I have to send the message again.
I hope someone in this forum can help me with my problem
    cu Marco

    Marco,
this sounds very much like a problem with the termination of your messages. You may have to tell VISA to add a termination character. Please follow the instructions in this document.

  • Have a 1st generation Apple TV, which is not showing as a device in iTunes. Had no problems with Apple TV until I changed from a Windows PC to an iMac. I have changed my IP address, sub mask address and router address in the Apple TV, Can anyone help?

I have a 1st generation apple TV, which was working perfectly until I changed from a Windows PC to a Imac. The Apple TV will not show in Itunes. I have changed the IP address, sub mask  and Router IP address. Since changing I have switched everything of and on again. Can anyone help?

I have a new router and computer. I have just remembered that just before my old PC died on me, I transferred my iTunes library to a hard drive. I can't remember exactly just how I got my library back, but there are definately things in my library now that were in my library on my old PC! Hope this makes sense. What do you mean by same location? Do you mean in the same place in the house?
Another difference I have just thought of was my old router was connected directly to the computer bu I have not been able to do this with Sky as my PC is not near a phone socket! Will this make a difference?

  • New to FiOS, can I use my own modem and router

I saw several questions similar to mine, but none that I saw answered my question for my scenario. I am sorry if this is a duplicate. I am new to FiOS. I have no other services from Verizon and do not plan to get any. No phone, no television, nothing. Just Internet. God willing, the installation will take place in two days. My house already has coaxial cabling. I have my own cable modem, a SURFboard SB6121, which goes to my router, a TP Link TL-WR941ND. None of my equipment advertises that it is FiOS compatible. I've seen other people asking about using their own modem and router, but in those cases the scenario involved other bundled services, and I understand a FiOS router is necessary to forward ports to television, phone, and computers. However, in my very simple scenario, can the Verizon optical network terminal simply feed its output to my coax, from there to my modem, then router, then comptuers? Is there any reason that wouldn't work? Verizon technical support just gave me a machine that wanted to help me troubleshoot my Internet connection, and I couldn't get from there to a human. Thanks in advance for the help!

Banish the word and the device called "modem" from your home when using FiOS.  FiOS does not use modems.  Your cable modem is useless with FiOS.  Do not plug it in. FiOS uses routers.  The router connects to the ONT's WAN port using MoCA (coax) or Ethernet.  The installer will enable one of the ONT's WAN ports.  If you order 150Mbps or higher speeds, they will have to use Ethernet.  For slower speeds, coax is the default.  Many installers will use Ethernet if you ask nicely, but usually only if it isn't too much work.  Make sure it's easy to connect a router to the ONT using Ethernet, and you should be okay.  If Ethernet needs to be run through the walls, your best choice is get it done ahead of time.  You can always call later and get the ONT's WAN port switched. The only routers available with a MoCA WAN port are the Verizon models.  The Verizon routers are good devices for most users.  People who like to tweak their networking gear don't like them as many advanced features are limited or locked down.  You can't run any other router firmware on them.  WiFi range is decent, but not great.  I'm quite happy with my Quantum router.  YMMV. If you get Ethernet WAN enabled, you can use any router you want.  However, know that Verizon provides zero support for any other router.  They won't even mention it as an option.  That doesn't mean you can't use one, simply that you must do so without Verizon's help. There are reports that they won't even complete an install without one of their routers to verify service.  If you don't use one of their routers, consider renting one for a month to complete the install or even buying a used one.  If you own a Verizon router, you can install it if you ever suspect Verizon networking issues.  This will allow you to call their support. This FAQ is very helpful:http://www.dslreports.com/faq/16077 Good Luck.

  • Acquired DVR, STB. and Router from Apartment cleanout; Return?

I am trying to do the right thing but poor customer service is not allowing me. I do IT work and received a DVR, STB, and Router from an apartment cleanout from a property owner. I am uncertain if the boxes are paid off or what, but rather than accept stolen property or flip them, I want to contact Verizon and have a return put out on the equipment. Hey maybe I'll get a credit or a few months of movies or something. But I certainly am not spending another minute sitting on hold to do this. I could not get through over 45 minutes yesterday. If I call and specify that I want to buy new service though, I get right through- only to be redirected anyways. Funny how it works. I love my FIOS service, always have, but to call them for anything requires taking a half day off of work. So, with that said- does anyone have contact info for equipment returns? Pittsburgh/Monroeville PA area. Again, if it's going to cost me anything, screw them. I will throw the stuff away as it should have been in the first place. If the equipment was paid for, it would be nice to have it activated to my account and no longer pay rental fees for my STB and DVR.

Don't know who to contact, but the video equipment is never considered paid off and remains forever Verizon property (that's how they make money on them).  After a year I belive Verizon doesn't require the return of the router.  They will not activate any STB without it being in their inventory and charging you a monthly fee.
