LMS 4.0 CiscoView
Hello,
We've recently installed some new Cisco 3750x switches on our LAN and CiscoView is not recognising them and has recommended that I update it to a newer version.
When I go on to Software centre device update it's showing that there are 578 CiscoView device updates. When I click on check for updates I enter our CCO account which I can connect to using the Cisco Site as well and successfully login, however it's erroring out.
I'm leaving the proxy settings empty because we are not using a proxy server.
The error from the log file reads the following:
ERROR [DownloadManager : queryAllPkgs] : Exception while downloading CV packages from Cisco.comcom.cisco.nm.xms.vds.VDSException: CvHandler.getFileList:failed to connect to Cisco.com.
So, I thought this time I try to download the packages manually and install them. Based on Cisco Documentation I need to run the following command to determine the Device Packages by running the following command:
nmcview
However, when i run this command, it's not being recognized.
This is becoming frustrating because I'm trying to get these updates and non of the ways that I'm trying seems to be working
Can anyone please help?
Trying to use this link to do it manually:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_ciscoview/4.0/quick/guide/cvgsdld.html#wp1915
Many thanks,
H
You can download the updates directly from cisco.com via a browser session (not via the LMS interface) and the use the option in the LMS interface to install from local files.
The instructions you referenced above are for the previous version of CiscoView that was included in LMS 3.2. You should instead go to this page and download the 3750 package (14.0 - readme here) and required dependent dtshare package. Once you have those files on your server you can update using either the GUI (choosing check from a server instead of from cisco.com) or CLI utility as explained here and here.
You should also really consider upgradng your LMS from 4.0 to the current 4.2 release. There are quite a few bug fixes and usability enhancements.

Hello,
LMS ( Ciscoview) fails to recognize the module WS-X4748-RJ45V+E into a 4510R+E
LMS is 3.2.
The other boards in the 4510R+E are recognized:
WS--X45-SUP7-E : OK
WS-X4648 -RJ45-E : OK
WS-X4748-RJ45V+E : NOK
Can you help me ?
Regards,
Christian DUPRE.You would need to restore a package repository which had all of the interdependent packages. It is not as simple as replacing the current Cat6000IOS package with an older version. There's not much more that can be done for troubleshooting at this point. The LED thing should have been fixed. I suspect a regression, but I do not have device package code, so I cannot confirm myself.

LMS 2.6, CiscoView says Unsupported Card for 7600-ES
Hi All,
Does CiscoView 6.1.5 support 7600-ES+20G3CXL card?
The module status shows as "Unsupported Card" whereas the chassis and Sup720 are fine.
I checked it in the latest device package readme doc for Cat6000IOS and couldn't find this card mentioned in it.
Is the card support included in this 6.1.5 version?
Thanks in advance for any help on this regard.Hi ,
Thanks.. But I could the following from the link that 7600-ES20-GE3CXL is supported from Cat6000IOS Version 30 package. However, am not sure if this module 7600-ES20-GE3CXL is different from the actual 7600-ES+20G3CXL one.
I have tried installing the package 30 but still says unsupported. -
LMS 3.2/CiscoView 6.1.9 : ASR 9000 not supproted

Do you know when ASR 9000 will be supported in ciscoview ?
Many thanks, ElisabethIt is my understanding that IOS-XR devices will never be supported in CiscoView.

Hi All,
Cisco view(patch 6.1.9) in lms 3.2.1 is not supporting router 1905. Any help here ?
Thanks in advance
VenkyCisco 3945 Integrated Services Router is supported. You should have Rtr3900 package, a minimum of version 1.1. However please note Cisco 3945E Integrated Services Router (CISCO3945E/K9) is not supported.
You should get all these details from the document I shared :
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/3.2/device_support/table/lms32sdt.html
Match the respective SysObjectID's of the devices which is unique identifier. Like 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1041 is for supported 3945.

LMS 3.2 and Catalyst 4500 WS-X4648-RJ45-E module card
Hi all,
I have a rpoblem with a specific client with LMS 3.2. We are using LMS 3.2 on Windows 2008 and everything seem to be working OK. The issue is in the CiscoView with the 4500 switches. CiscoView can see the supervisors on all 4500 switches (6); but cannot see the switchcards when the switchcards are WS-X4648-RJ45-E. Find the sh inv output below:

I have updated the s/w to 12.2(53) SG1 with no luck.
Any ideas?Hi Nicos,
I have exactly the same issue with LMS 3.2 CiscoView under Windows 2003 and catalyst switch 4506-E.
4506-E are in IOS 12.2(53)SG2.
I installed latest 4500IOS V 19.0 ciscoview device package without success.
Did you fix your problem ? -
Lms 4.0 and stacked 3750 v2
Hi
Lms 3.2 does not support stacked 3750 V2.
You cannot see it on topology map.
Will you be able to see it using LMS 4.
Otherwise when will it be visible
SteveYou do not need to download anything for the topology and inventory and configuration features of LMS, however, for CiscoView, go to Admin > System > Software Center > Device Update, check the box next to CiscoView and download and install all available packages. It's not a bad idea to do that for Common Services, Network Topology Layer 2 Services and User Tracking, Fault Management, and Inventory Config And Image Management, too just to stay up-to-date. However, with 3750s, the sysObjectID is typically the same for all models so unless you need chassis-specific management, features of LMS should just work with them.

Ciscoworks LMS 2.5 don`t working software & devices updates
Terrible happened The old server with LMS on the Solaris operating system refused to work, but I have backup. I installed LMS 2.5 (CiscoView 6.1.2), RME 4.0.3. Posted all network objects that were in the old system from backup. But none of them can not do in the utility Netconfig, all the checkbox on the switches Cisco ME 3400-24TS-A inactive, butwith the Cisco 3750 is no such problem, it works. As I understand it, I must run Device Update, but the answer is a "No updates available in CCO for selected product (s)." The same problem with Software Update, I can not upgrade to LMS 2.6 and other products too. Tell me what to do? Some screenshots attached below.
Maybe Cisco has stopped maintaining the online update repositories for LMS 2.x. Alternatively, you can try finding the relevant RME/CiscoView/Campus Manager device updates at
http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/navigator.html?mdfid=268439477&i=rp
For example, select RME, instead of LMS, to find if the RME device pkgs are available for download. Once downloaded, you can apply them on the LMS servers locally. -
LMS 4.2 Applications missing from Software Center
I have a problem with LMS 4.2.4 Software center on Win2K8. I have been trying to download device updates and the only product listed in software center has been:
Inventory Config And Image Management
It seems like this happened to me before and I opened a TAC case and got the list of products back but I can't seem to locate the case history. To top it off my LMS support contract is in limbo due to some administrative glitch and I am waiting for my account team to sort it out. Meanwhile I have just installed some relatively new products (3850, 4500-X) and LMS doesn't seem to recognize these completely.
The list of apps seems to be stored in the NMSROOT\lib\classpath\com\cisco\nm\xms\psu\conf\tag.properties. I stumbled accross a tag.pl script in the bin directory that modifies this file. So I searched in vain for the proper contents for the tag.properties file. In the end I just issued the following sequence to get common services back:
cd <NMSROOT>\lib\classpath\com\cisco\nm\xms\psu\conf
perl D:\Software\CSCOpx\bin\tag.pl tag.properties -a "cmf:Common Services"
So I am not sure why a perl script to modify the tag.properties file is necessary since it just seems to append the specified product to the end of the file. In any event I then went to
Admin > System > Software Center > Device Update
and sure enough CMF appears and I am able to check for and install device updates for it. However, I still seem to be unable to perform UT collection for the 3850 stack which is what I am really after. So does anyone know what product I need to add and get updates for in order to get user tracking working? In other words, what is the output of
psucli.bat -h?
Thanks,
-JeffHi Jeff,
looks like tag.prop is corrupted.
it should have the below content :
ipm:IPSLA Performance Management
cmf:Common Services
lmsportal:LMS Portal
cvw:CiscoView
rme:Inventory Config And Image Management
dfm:Fault Management
lms:LAN Management Solution
upm:Device Performance Management
cm:Network Topology Layer 2 Services and User Tracking
Is this a new Installed ? if yes share the Installed.log
if you have good backup ,then try retstoring it.
Thanks-

Can Ciscoview cause high cpu spikes?
I was using LMS 3.2, Ciscoview to open a view on a 6500 that has 2 WS-SUP720-3B supervisors and is running s72033-adventerprisek9_wan-mz.122-33.SXH4.bin.
The device was taking a bit to open up, so I clicked it a couple more times and a couple of minutes later it finally opened.
At the same time I had a telnet session to the device and noted thru sh proc cpu sorted that the SNMP ENGINE had spiked to 95% utilization.
Could Ciscoview be the cause of this? I have found through testing that multiple clicks can cause a small cpu jump (6% - 12%) but I haven't yet reproduced the 95% utilization I saw that day.
Is there an initial discovery that Ciscoview first does to gather it's information that's more intensive than subsquent polling?
-DaveA couple more questions. Does Ciscoview perform snmpwalks or snmpgets on the device when it is the first time it's contacting it? In the trace logs, I noted:
2009/10/16 22:07:42 EDT TRACE CvDevice: Orig Device Info:

I've noted in attempts to open a device the first time, it takes awhile to open which I'm assuming is the snmpwalk/gets being performed on the device to update its cache. When is this cache cleared? On server reboot? -
What is the process to obtain device packages if they are currently not installed (CS -> Device Update -> CiscoView)?

Missing adaptors in ciscoview of a VSS
Hi,
I have a VSS configured with 2 6509E both have the 2 TenGig ports of the sup 720 in the VSL.
The 4 TenGigs ports are up/up :
TenGigabitEthernet1/5/4 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Hardware is C6k 10000Mb 802.3, address is 0008.e3ff.fd90 (bia 0008.e3ff.fd90)
But the adaptors on the firsts TenGigs ports are missing in ciscoview for each chassis:
Since it's the same four adapters, i can't guess why I can only see 2 of then.
any idea ?
Products versions :
LMS 3.2, ciscoview 6.1.9, Cat6000IOS Device Package 30.2
