Lms 4.1 - DCRServer process is shutdown

Hi,
I have installed VMware vSphere Enterprise Plus 5.0.0 and created a VM using an OVA file with LMS 4.1 running in Linux. It was working good since 3 weeks ago and I was adding snmp server configuration in all my devices (routers/switches) and suddenly one day DCRServer process stop working. I was trying the following actions:
1.- dmgtd stop -> to stop daemons
2.- dmgtd start -> to start again the daemons
And the DCRServer doesn´t start up automatic.
Then I try this:
1.- pdexe DCRServer
And show this message:
[CPLMSCOL01/root-ade ~]# pdexec DCRServer
ERROR:Get reply from server failed:
and don´t start up the DCRServer, please any help or advice.
Thanks

You should check if there is any error in daemon.log when you try to start the DCRServer.
Was there any change related to hostname on server?
Try to regenrate the SSL once, Please try the following steps:
1. Stop the daemon manager
2. Regenerate the SSL certificate (Dont forget to start you shell/command prompt session as Administrator):
*Remove server.*  files under NMSROOT\MDC\Apache\conf\ssl (take backup of all 4 files before deleting).
     *NMSROOT\bin\perl NMSROOT\MDC\Apache\ConfigSSL.pl -disable
     *NMSROOT\bin\perl NMSROOT\MDC\Apache\ConfigSSL.pl -enable
*Fill all the details it request for.
*Ensure that the following files are created under NMSROOT\MDC\Apache\conf\ssl :
server.crt
server.csr
server.key
server.pk8
-Thanks

  • LMS 3.2 - DFM : dfm broker shutdown

    Hi,
Customer has an "high severity alert" on aad.log.
You can find pdshow : dfm broker is shutdown and aad.log.
Customer has restarted process, then "high severity alert" doesn't exist anymore and pdshow is ok.
    Is it a bug ?
    Many thanks,
    Elisabeth

There are no known bugs with DfmBroker shutting down in LMS 3.2.  Is this continuously happening, or has the restart fixed the problem?

I am also enclosing the CSDiscovery-config.xml under the config directory and the specific job as well.
ngdiscovery.log shows 0 bytes. I am not sure if it is to be populated only when we initiate some debugging?
    Thanks a lot

It seems you're missing some critical files.  Under NMSROOT/conf/csdiscovery, you should have the following zip files:
    SharedDiscoveryAUS.zipSharedDiscoveryCluster.zipSharedDiscoveryGeneral.zipSharedDiscoveryIGX.zip
The casusers group should have full control on all four files.  If these files really are missing, you will need to contact TAC to get new ones, or you will need to reinstall Common Services.

  • LMS 4.2 not processing syslog messages

I have a new install of LMS 4.2 on a virtual appliance.  No syslog messages are getting into LMS.  They are being received by the server, but are showing up in /var/adm/CSCOpx/log/dmgtd.log, and aren't getting processed by SyslogAnalyser.
    Here's the syslog.conf file:
         local6.info                                                                     /var/log/ade/ADE.log
         *.info;mail.none;news.none;authpriv.none;cron.none;local0.none;local1.none      /var/log/messages
         authpriv.*                                                                      /var/log/secure
         mail.*                                                                          -/var/log/maillog
         cron.*                                                                          /var/log/cron
         *.emerg                                                                         *
         uucp,news.crit                                                                  /var/log/spooler
         local7.*                                                                        /var/log/boot.log
         #Application LMS Generated config
#BEGIN CSCOmd - DO NOT EDIT THESE COMMENTS OR CONTENTS CONTAINED WITHIN - local0 1
         local0.emerg;local0.alert;local0.crit;local0.err;local0.warning;local0.notice;local0.info;local0.debug  /var/adm/CSCOpx/log/dmgtd.log
#END CSCOmd DO NOT EDIT BEFORE THIS LINE  1
         local7.info  /var/log/syslog_info
My guess is that the incoming messages are getting written to the wrong file.  What do I need to change to correct this?

I found that all of my syslog messages were being captured under /var/log/messages.  This was due to my Cisco devices being configured with "logging facility local5".  Instead of reconfiguring all of my devices to log to facility local7, I just changed the following line in syslog.conf and restarted (/etc/init.d/syslog restart)
    Before:
    local7.info  /var/log/syslog_info
    After:
    local5.*  /var/log/syslog_info
Probably not the best way to do it, but it worked for me.

  • Cisco LMS 4.1 Installation on Windows Server 2008 R2, Databases not created

    Hi There,
As always, I am trying to install LMS 4.1 on windows server 2008 R2 and after the installation and login to the LMS I find the following:
DCRServer is down or may not be completely up. Check if the DCRServer process is running.
And after some troubleshooting I found that the LMS is not creating the CMF database and the other databases. Attached is the installation log file, if someone could help me with it would be appreciated. Please note the following:
    1. I have downloaded the installation file from Cisco website twice, so I do not think it is the file that is corrupted, also it is only evaluation license.
    2. I have met all the prerequisites and requirement as in the documentation guides, but maybe there is something still wrong.
    Thanks,

  • Rc.shutdown.local not running

Prior to upgrading to Lion, I did not have any of my own rc scripts so I can't tell if this would have worked in Leopard.
I want to execute some code during shutdown. Research in this forum and elsewhere indicates that I need to create /etc/rc.shutdown.local
I have created such a file and have checked that it runs from within Terminal - so it's all syntactically correct.
However, it does not appear to be run during shutdown as I would have hoped.
I also read elsewhere a suggestion that the whole rc mechanism might disappear in a future release of Mac OS (which is kind of weird as it's an inherent part of BSD).
I have ensured that the file is owned by root and permissions are 644 (i.e. the same as rc.common and rc.netboot)
Maybe I'm missing something. Any ideas

I, too, had a need to run scripts at shutdown.  The launchd approach is cumbersome and arcane at best, I'd seen comments like "You have to create a process that simulates a daemon so that launchd can automatically stop the process on shutdown."
Huh?   That's supposed to be an improvement of rc.shutdown?   No way.
Here's what I did instead, works great, but if you do not know exactly what you are doing it will be dangerous.  You could break your mac, void your warranty, and be forced by the lawyers to use a Commodore 64 as punishment.
Mac OS X uses the "shutdown" command during shutdowns, and use the "reboot" command when you are restarting.    We move these aside and replace them with shell scripts that do what you want first - then call the normal shutdown and reboot scripts.
    For example:
    cd /sbin
    cp -p shutdown shutdown.lion
Then take the file here, save it as /sbin/shutdown.pl
    cd /sbin
    chmod 555 shutdown.pl
    cp -p shutdown.pl shutdown
If you need to roll back for any reason, just one command gets you there:
    cp -p /sbin/shutdown.lion /sbin/shutdown
Note: repeat all the above to create a reboot.lion, reboot.pl, with suitable edits.   If that is not something you can figure out from here ... you should not be attempting any of this yourself.
    -Michael
    ----- shutdown.pl -------
    #!/usr/bin/perl -w
    my $who = `whoami`;
    chomp $who;
    `echo "shutdown called by user='$who', args='@ARGV'" | logger -t SHUTDOWN`;
    # Insert your commands here.  For example,
    `/Users/miked/TOOLS/my-command-1 | logger -t SHUTDOWN`;
    `/Users/miked/TOOLS/my-command-2 | logger -t SHUTDOWN`;
    # Finally, shut down the system using the OS command and all args passed this way.
    system("/sbin/shutdown.lion @ARGV");
    exit ($?);

  • Shared Server Process

I have one query regarding Shared Server Process.
1)Why SHUTDOWN needs dedicated server process and not shared server process?
    Thanks in advance

    >
1)Why SHUTDOWN needs dedicated server process and not shared server process?
    >
Because Oracle maintains the connection for the user performing the shutdown until the shutdown is complete and their is still more work to be performed after the shared server processes are shutdown.
If you look at the shutdown part of the alert log when a shutdown is performed you will see that the dispatchers and shareds servers are shutdown before the database is closed and dismounted. There would be no more connection if a shared server were being used.
Consider the example shutdown log from this article
    http://oracleappstechnology.blogspot.com/2007/08/oracle-11g-db-startup-and-shutdown.html
Find the portion that shows these steps
    >
All dispatchers and shared servers shutdown
    ALTER DATABASE CLOSE NORMAL
    Wed Aug 15 18:24:35 2007
    SMON: disabling tx recovery
    SMON: disabling cache recovery
    Wed Aug 15 18:24:35 2007
    Shutting down archive processes
    >
See how the CLOSE is issued AFTER the dispatchers and shared servers are shutdown?
See how the SMON service is still running?
If you then look at the very end you will see this

    Stopping background process VKTM:
    >
That last background process is described in chapter 9 (Process Architecture) in the Database Concepts doc
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28318/process.htm
    >
•VKTM (virtual keeper of time) is responsible for providing a wall-clock time (updated every second) and reference-time counter (updated every 20 ms and available only when running at elevated priority).

Grandfather time is the last process to be stopped.
When your time comes to an end - you too will be 'shutdown' (chances of a successful recovery are not good even with extensive logs).
Here's hoping that your personal shutdown is 'normal' and not 'immediate' or 'abort'!

  • Is there shutdown of primary database needed when creating standby by Grid?

I want to create physical standby database
using EM Grid Control. Is there neccessary during
the process to shutdown primary database, e.g.
when creating backup of primary database?
    Thanks for advise,
    M.

Yes you need to shutdown the database while,
    Backup all database files.
After changing the entries in pfile you need to start the database through pfile.
After changing the listener, reload the listener file.

  • CiscoWorks LMS: not receveing certain SNMP traps

CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 (I know it's old and unsupported).
Problem: not receiving certain SNMP traps.
For example: I receive trap like "STP new root" but not like "port put to err-disabled" or my custom traps (produced by EEM scripts).
I've investigated my situation and found out that switch sends traps and they reach* LMS but somehow LMS ignores them (there's no trace of them in GUI). I've read that some traps just pass through LMS but my traps are very important and I need to know about them.
    * I did Wireshark capture on LMS machine.
I'd like to know how to debug receiving of SNMP traps in LMS:
which specific debugs need to be enabled,
which specific log files need to be examined.

LMS uses DFM to process certain traps.
All traps it deems unimportant are dropped.
If you want to use the LMS GUI you can have you device send a SYSLOG message rather than a trap.
use logging source command to make the management interface send the message.
Then there is a GUI that allows you to launch an action on a message
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • Change parameter PROCESSES=100  in initSID.ora

I changed PROCESSES=30 to PROCESSES=37,shutdown and startup Oracle, then no problem.
    but PROCESSES=40(OR 50,>=38),shutdown and startup,then error:
    ora-27146 Post/Wait initialization failed.
Now ,how to tune this parameter.
    my System:
    sun sparc solaris 2.3
    Oraclei

You might have hit the user limit for the number
of processes. Check the output of ulimit -a for oracle
and adjust the limits accordingly. Depending on the
hard limits on your system you might need root access as
well in order to adjust the hard limits.
    Cheers
