LMS 4.1 Freezes after about 10 min of being Idle

We have LMS 4.1 installed. After about 10 min of being idle, the browser becomes frozen, eventually crashing it. We applied this fix for lagging hoping it would fix the issue, however it has not.

We have been tracking a problem  internally where the Getting Started page hangs on login.  The problem  is with changes to Cisco.com access.  We are actively working to get  those fixed, but if this is what you're seeing the workaround is as  follows:
a.  Open the properties file name “gs.properties” under the path   NMSROOT/MDC/tomcat/webapps/cwlms/WEB-INF/classes/com/cisco/nm/gs/ui
b. Update the field IS_DEFAULT_PAGE as “false”
c. Clear the browser cache and login-in(Daemon restart not required)

Any ideas?
Thanks,

  • Freezing after 20 min of use.

I use this Macbook Pro 2011 daily with 10.8.2 and with no real changes to speak of (ie installing software) i've started experiencing freezes after about 30 min of use.
    Programs start becoming unresponsive
    Beachball appears.
    System freezes until restart.
No crash log as it doesn't actually crash just freezes.
I checked the log and saw that a geek tool couldn't find a file so i shut that down and restarted in case it was the cause. It happened again though and i copied this as the last few messages before i had to restart.
if anyone can shed light on what's suddenly causing this it would be greatly appreciated.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

My imac 17" core duo 1.8ghz A1173 freezes after about 1 minute of running. I re-start the imac about a half a dozen times and it stays running and will re-start from the sleep mode and will continue to operate properly until I put it in sleep mode or it goes to sleep mode. If I turn it off, I must go through the same hassle. Advise/suggestions. Thanks.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Arch freezes after about 10 minutes with new kernel [SOLVED]

As the title says: Arch freezes after about 10 minutes with new kernel (2.6.27). I can only move a mouse, but everything else is frozen. Even restarting X doesn't do a trick. It doesn't work at all. Frozen.
I don't get any kind of error message (oh really?), so what's the problem..?

Yeah... I'm using nvidia... So the problem is nvidia drivers, not the Linux kernel?
Edit: My card is nVidia GeForce 8800 Ultra. I can't get driver information now, because I'm using WinXP right now. I'll check it later.
Did you make a new install or just updated?
You can try to reinstall old kernel with:
    pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/kernel(version you want).pkg.tar.gz
if you made a new install you may have to install the xorg keyboard driver and so.
By the way, there are a few diferent packages for nvidia drivers. Check wich is yours.
Also check /var/log/ folder for errors.
    Updated kernel.
And as I said, I'll check the driver later.

  • T400 downgraded from Vista to XP resulting in system freeze after 10 min activity

    Hi,
I just purchased a T400 and have gone through the process of (re)grading the OS from Vista Business to XP. From the moment the setup dialogue for XP started (machine name, date, users etc), the whole systems freezes after working the machine for around 10-15 min. First, I suspected it to be a mouse freeze, but I get no reponse from neither the keyboard nor mouse (not sure if it is a complete system freeze or to do with mouse/keyboard drivers). Even the clock in the bottom right corner stops running.
To get the system going I need to force the system to reboot using the power on/off button.
The XP restore disc I used came from Lenovo with the computer, and I have followed the instructions by point. Do any of you recognize this problem? And more importantly, know how to deal with it

    Hi,
I posted a message on the forum 5 days ago, and got no replies.  I agree the  problem description might be a bit vague, so here we  go again:
I recently purchased a T400 (model 2765, 21g) with the XP downgrade option (the MS Windows XP Conversion Kit containing 2 CD's: Lenovo's Rescue &  Recovery plate + XP product recovery plate with SP2). During the installation of XP (the end part where you set up your user) the computer freezes (no response from keyboard). I power the machine off and on again, and the installation continues as it were. I finish the installation and the computer is set. After additional 10 min the computer freezes again in the same style.
I imagine it to be a powermanagement disagreement between MS system and Lenovos powermanagement system, and set every parameter to be always ON and full performance ( I am running on AC). This time the freeze doesn't happen for an hour. I then begin to reinstall the powermanagement drivers and the general drivers for this particular model running XP (from Lenovos drivers Matrix), and now I am looking at two hour before each freeze. That is if I don't plug in any external hard drives (then the system can crash within 15 min or an hour), and we turn a blind eye to the occational freeze after 10 min on the first boot of the day .
At some point I suspected there to be a conflict with the existing SATA drivers that I also have reinstalled for the occation.  Still the system is NOT stable.
And the frustrating thing is that I have no clue why. The sympthom is always the same, complete screen freeze ( I do not know if the system is active behind (no hard drive running)), that can only be cured with a forced boot.
If any of you reconize this, please assist me to a solution. I have by now installed all programs to my liking including all MS updates (SP3 etc), and hope there is a way to get to the core without a complete reinstall (or worse, return to the realm of Vista)

  • My macs freezing after about 5 mins

Hi guys, really stuck here, started mac g5 earlier and was running fine for about 15 mins, I then left it to make a cup of tea and came back to it being frozen with loud fans. Turned it off by holding power button and thought maybe I should clean her out while I'm here. Did that not much dust put it back together and switched it on. After 2-3 mins it froze again so I switched off again using same method as before, then tried switching on, no chime, and both screens blank. Oh no. Off and on again still nothing. Read some forums and tried wiggling and turn battery and then it booted fine. So as soon as it booted I tried the disk utility and checked main disk. Verified worked fine but then I tried verify permissions and after about another two minutes it froze. So switched off again, swivelled battery as rebooted, left it to see what happened and it froze again about 2-3 minutes after booting. It an old 2005 model which I bought second hand about 9 months ago off eBay. It works perfectly until now. I installed a second hard drive just after I bought it with no issues at all. I realise it's and old model, but with wanting to produce music and knowing macs are the nuts for stability, having 3 kids and no free cash it's all I've got and too be honest i class it as my 4th child. I treat her good, clean her, don't run her in high temps, keep dust away etc. if anyone could help me Id really appreciate it. I'm lost with out it and if it's dead then I'm screwed. One more thing. About a week ago I finished using it and clicked shut down and walked away to which then randomly one of the house fuses ( as in main fuse for house) tripped. Didn't think this had anything in common as the wife had hair dryer and iron on etc. thanks anyway guys. Fingers crossed.
Update, the only way I can get it to boot is to remove power lead, open side panel and swivel battery round. This morning I got it to run for 10 mins.
Haw checked disk by doin fsck -fy in to which I did it a couple of times until volume ok message was shown.
Have thought maybe a psu issue but no pops or anything when turning power on at socket. It does make a click sound but it has always done that and also my graphics equaliser does the same.
    Pls pls pls help me.

  • Qosmio F55 - Freezing after 20 min idle

Hi and sorry for my English,
When I use it, everything is ok, but after 20 min idle it's hanging, ctrl, alt del no respond, only way to switch off is power button.
I changed VGA driver, disable hard disk switch off, disable screen server, run RAM check, still the same problem.
Any idea what is the problem?

It is not easy to say why this happen. We can just speculate why this happen and your answer can be yes or no.
Maybe you should install Vista again using Toshiba recovery image. Test it with clean preinstalled OS.
I am pretty sure after doing this your notebook wills works well and you will not be faced with freezing issues.
What do you think about it?

  • PB 15" 1.33 freezes after about an hour

    Here's some brief history:
Just got my PB back from the shop today, after sending it in for a new logic board (VRAM error - posted about this one last week).
Set it up, everything worked fine -- for about an hour or so, then a complete freeze. I even had Internet radio streaming that sounded like a scratched CD or a broken record. About a minute or so after the freeze, I then got a loud fan-like noise that sounded like it was coming from the back left corner of my keyboard.
Did a hard shut-down (held down power button), waited about 2 minutes, then rebooted. Started up OK, ran well, then repeated problem about 12 minutes later. Wash, rinse, repeat: shut down, wait 2 mins, reboot, and this time it froze after about 4 minutes.
My suspicion is a problem in reassembly, possibly the techs did not properly apply the heat paste, and now the CPU is overheating and locking up.
I'm going to take it back to the shop tomorrow, but wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions for things I can check.
    Thanks!

Okay, the temps seem to be running normally - indeed, the fan kicked on (a bit noisily, with a buzzing that was not there before sending it in to the shop), at around 142-145 F.
This time, my PB operated just fine for several hours, no problems. Processor temp never got above 147 F. So perhaps it is not the CPU overheating.
There are a few differences in how I had the PB running this time, however:
    - When it froze up yesterday, I had an additional monitor plugged in (I work best with two screens for all my apps and documents), as well as an external hard drive connected via firewire (that sits idle most of the time except for scheduled backups).
    - Last night (and today, as I write this, in fact), I am running the PB without any externals - no extra monitor, no external HD.
I ran a hardware check (AHT) and it showed no hardware problems.
I tried running some graphics-intense games while also having several processor-hogging applications, to see what would happen to the core temps, but again never got above 147F and no shutdown problems.
So my noob-sleuth techniques lead me to believe it has something to do with the extra video connection. I am going to try connecting the second monitor later today (currently using it with my standby PowerPC), and I'll report back with any new developments.
In the meantime, I'd love to hear any suggestions or ideas that come up from what new info (if any) I was able to provide.
And thanks for the help so far - at least I feel like I'm making some kind of progress!

  • ITunes freezing after about 5 minutes on one account, works on other accounts

background info: I have a 2008 black Intel Macbook 2.4 GHz with 2GB RAM.
the problem that I'm having is when I run iTunes , after about 5 minutes even if I'm not downloading or playing music, the program starts to slow down and I get the rainbow beach ball on my screen. If I'm playing music, it starts and then stops, starts, and stops. Other programs respond for about a minute, and then nothing responds, no force quit, no nothing. The only way to get my computer back is to hard restart.
**I have a feeling that gapless playback has something to do with it, the problem started when I added an album collection of around 800 songs at once, and I did notice that it starts going through the gapless playback analysis or whatever and then freezes.
I've tried reinstalling iTunes etc. and searching forums and websites, but all problems that sound similar are from years ago and different iTunes versions. The iTunes is the version before 10.4, I'm not sure if its 10.3 or 10.2, since I'm afraid to open it and have my computer crash again.
One annoying fix I did was when I need to have music I made a separate account on my mac that runs iTunes fine with no problems. I had this problem in Snow Leopard, and just upgraded to Lion hoping it would fix itself, but it still has the same problem.
If anybody has help or has a similar problem please let me know.

Scanning from other than admin account has always been a problem for me. The only solution that I found out working is using the Vuescan software. It has something to do with that the scanning software trying to access some part of OS X that is locked to others but not for the owner (admin).
To give the other accounts admin access doesn't help.

  • IChat 4.0 on leopard freezes after about 5 seconds

I have a 24'' iMac and my wife has a 13'' macbook. We both have the most updated version of leopard on our computers. The problem is that whenever we try to do a video chat with each other, my video freezes up after about 5 seconds, and hers keeps going. We both have set our bandwidth limit to none in ichat and the streaming speed in System prefs> Quicktime to 1.5 Mbps. Anyone know what else could cause this? Thanks

A "Crash" of an application is a Specific thing where you get an Error message saying it "Unexpectantly Quit" and a Log in the relevant Crash Error logs in Console. The marker underneath the app in the DOCK would also disappear.
An App that Freezes or part of the display of it Freezes would not normally be considered as to have Crashed.
Having said that I have had a repeatable issue where a Tester with me could definitely Crash my iChat. Sure enough each time he tried to call my iChat Unexpectantly Quit.
It turned out it was a faulty router at his end.
The Video freezing is normally a Bandwidth Issue (the 363k is fast enough tht this should not happen based on those speeds or the ones you tested)
It can be down to how busy the Processor is with on-line Widgets like Weather and Clock and others. or Background apps and Utilities
The way to see those is to open the Activity Monitor.

  • Yosemite freezes after about 30 Seconds inactivity

    Dear Apple Community,
I really love the new Yosemite look and features, but there is one really annoying thing, that I can not seem to solve.
Yosemite becomes irresponsive after about 30-60 Seconds inactivity. I can still move the mouse, but no keys, clicking or hovering works. This state lasts for about 10 seconds after clicking or typing, and then it returns to normal. When I press buttons "CMD-Option-Escape" the freeze ends a little faster. This is driving me crazy, since reading for example a website for 30 seconds always leads to the freeze, working efficiently is not possible like this.
    My Macbook Model:
    • MacBook Pro (Retina, Mitte 2012)
    • 2,6 GHz Intel Core i7
    • 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Does anyone experience the same issue? Has anyone any suggestions what could cause the problem? I  thought maybe there is some kind of energy-saving process going on?
    Thanks,
    Paul

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 installed on?
Before export, how does the Timeline play back in the Edit area monitor (video and audio)?
What is your export - mp4, .mov, wmv, flv, .avi etc....? Have you tried other players, like the VLC player?
But, let us start at the beginning....
What are the properties of your source media? What is the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded the source?
How are you getting that source into the Premiere Elements project and what are you or the program setting as the project preset. See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio (even if they look grayed out).
The project preset description should match the properties of your source.
Now for the export...what are you selecting under Publish+Share/assumed Computer/. And what are you setting as the preset for your choice? Are you using the default settings for the preset or are you customizing them under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab?
Please supply more details. If any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thanks.

  • After Replacing Hard Drive, iMac Freezes after about 40 Minutes.

I have a flat panel 15" iMac which had a bad hard drive. I replaced it with a 250 gig Seagate ATA drive. I used the Disck utility to format it and the computer recognized the correct size of the Drive. After installing OS 10.4.7 on the drive I found that the computer locks-up or frezzes after about 45 minute. I have run apple diagnoxtics and the computer hardware and ram checks out fine. I found that the computer does not lock up if I runit form an external firewire drive with os 10.x and it did not lock-up when I booted form the OS 9 Hardware test cd. I then thought that maybe I had loaded the OS x poorly on th e new drive so I reloaded the OS. The system agin freezes agter the system is on for about 30 + minutes.
Do I need a special drive or size for the G4 flat panel iMac? Is there a setting on the Segate Drive I need to set.
    Any Thoughts\
    Jim
    G4 Dual 1.25   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

    Hello,
There should be a Master / Slave setting on the drive. If it shares the same "channel" with your CD-ROM drive, then you may need to set the Hard Drive as Master.
Check your original drive, and see what it was set to. There is a Master, Slave, and Factory setting.
Look at the label on the drive, and compare that to the jumpers (little caps) on the back of the drive by the data cable connector.
Set your new drive to match the same setting your original drive was set to.
If that doesn't work, try your new drive in the external drive enclosure. See if it works right there.
If it still doesn't work right, then perhaps you got a drive with a defect.
If it works fine in the external case, and you have verified that your settings are right when used internally, then you may have damage in the iMac's logic board or hard drive controller somewhere.
But, take a look at the Jumper Settings, and try it in the external enclosure as well. See if either of those fixes it.
Hopefully you just got the jumper settings wrong.
    I hope this helps.
