LMS 4.1 - No Template Center Job Approval?

Hi,
I cannot find an option to enable Job Approval for Template Center Tasks.
Is this not possible for Template Center?

No, Template Center approval has not yet been implemented. There is a bug open for this, CSCtl21503.

LMS 4.1 - Job approval Disable error

Hi all,
I have created VRF from LMS 5.1. some days ago i created it sucessful but now it gives me job fail and reason is Job Approval Disable.
Can anyone give hint what is the problem
Please help.

Job Approval is an option which it just notifies, that it is disabled. Like other options, ie Email Notification, Parallel Execution, Job Password etc.
Job approval is an option where help desk users after creating any job need to wait for execution of job till a user with Approver priviliedge has not approved the job.
The Failure may have some other underlying problem, like incorrect credentials etc. On fail device you should check the failure reason.

LMS 4 Template Center issues

For years we have used baseline templates to deploy basic configurations to LAN switches as part of the staging process. Since the baseline templates were developed more as a compliance check mechanism, I thought I would try to move this function over to the template center. So I opened the LMS Configuration Management manual and read the Managing and Deploying Templates chapter, along with Appendix B - Config Template XML schema. This left a lot unanswered, but I thought I would give creating a template a shot anyway.
So I exported one of the system defined templates and went about hacking it up to suit my needs. The first thing I discovered was that when I tried to import my modified template and there was a problem with it the only feedback I got was a message stating Template import Failed. Unable to parse the XML file.Please ensure that the XML file is complaint to the schema. Um... ok... that narrows it down. Undaunted, I chopped most of the XML out until I got the thing to import successfully. Then I slowly added the rest of the parameters in, one at a time and fixing any problems along the way.
I finally reached the point where I was ready to test a deploy. With great anticipation I clicked on Deploy, selected my test device, filled out the form and clicked Next.
Some fields might contain invalid characters, or required fields could have been left blank
What now? None of the fields are flagged in the browser. Is there any way to determine what it is that is missing without resorting back to chopping up the template and trying portions of it until I find it? Am I going about this the wrong way? Am I misinterpreting the purpose of template center all together?

Where did you start? It looks like you've followed an invalid installation method. The soft appliance (.ova-based LMS 4.2 image) runs over the built-in ADE-OS (custom Linux variant from Cisco).
I'd advise recreating the VM, carefully following the steps in here.

LMS 4.2 Template Center parameter file

Is it possible to run templates from Template Center against a parameter file instead of interactive setting the variables analogue to compliance base line templates?
If yes where can I find a documentation, how to deploy template center templates with parameter file?

Thx, Marvin for the reply and the attached whitepaper.
I know that compliance baseline templates are able to support a parameter file.
But I asked for parameter file based by means unattended, none interactive rollout for the templates in the Template center. Its intended to build up a network from the scratch so everything will be none compliant anyway, so in my opinion Template center XML (the only configuration method that was taken over in PI) will be the better choise to rollout all the variable driven per device individual config parts.

Workflow for Preventive Maintenance Job Approval

I need a workflow for Preventive Maintenance Job Approval.
Whenever a PM user issues for a Preventive Maintenance Job it should go for approval up to two level of authority.
Can some one suggest some standard tasks or workflow template which will be useful for the purpose?

Prime Infrastructure 2.0 Job Approval notifications?

I have a question about notification for job approvers in Prime 2.0. I'm trying to setup PI such that a restricted user can create a configuration change on a wireless controller and submit it for approval by the PI admin.
The PI admin will likely not be logging in every day to check job approval status. I can't see anywhere that notifies the admin via email that a job is waiting. can this be done or am I missing something?

I don't think we have an email optiom to notify the ADMIN to approve the pending jobs ,however if you authorized any job then ONLY admin can approve to run the job.

Control Center Jobs - Workflow execution history not being shown

Hi all gurus,
We have recently migrated to owb 11.2 from 10.2. In DEFAULT_CONTROL_CENTER, we can see deployment history, but the "execution" tab is empty. Though we have executed several workflows, they are not shown in the execution TAB in "Control Center Jobs" window after they complete.
Any clue on what can be the problem? Where can I further investigate the problem?

Is there any record in wb_rt_audit_executions? you can connect as OWBSYS, then set workspace to access the audit information.
If there are records and not displayed in the execution tab, then it must have some issues. Then should be looked into further.

Ciscoworks Job Approval Security

I am working with a customer on enhancing the security around their device administration practices. They have Ciscoworks deployed and are using it, but have no approval processes in pace for the activities undertaken, and Audit has picked up on this.
I have found that the Ciscoworks product provides workflow and approval processes for scheduled jobs. I have suggested the customer implement this but their response is "But I can edit the job after approval, so the approval process is ineffective".
I have been trying to determine if this statement is correct or not. Can a job be edited after approval without it needing to be reapproved?
Secondly, the documentation states that jobs scheduled to run immediately do not need approval. Is it possible to stop jobs being run immediately? If not is there a special report that can be generated for jobs run immediately.
Finally, does the modification of the baseline configuration templates require approval if this is activated, as this was suggested as another means of by passing the approval process.

This is not possible. The approver feature of RME requires email addresses for the approvers.

RME JOB APPROVAL QUESTION

When I schedule a job (non-immediate), e.g. a netconfig job to add snmp community string, I get the error message" CFG0021: Could not create job. Possible cause: Cannot submit jobs for approval. Approval emails cannot be sent".
I have the correct smtp server sitting on the same subnet as the LMS Server (version 3.0) as well as a valid exchange id.
Any suggestions will be great.

Check the smtp.log and see if there are any related error messages

LMS 3.2 and RME NetConfig Job - No Devices

I'm runnig CW LMS 3.2 on Solaris 10. If I go to Resource Management Essentials, click on NetConfig, and then select "create" as in "create a NetConfig job", it takes me to the Netconfig Jobs screen. On this screen, I check "select all devices ", but afterwards it says that "0 devices selected". There are over 1000 devices in our inventory, so I cannot understand why they are not found. They are visible on the system module, and in RME-Devices. But they are not availalble for RME Netconfig jobs.
Any ideas?

When I enter the NetConfig jobs screen, I click on "create" ,which takes me to the next screen, where I click on "device" , which takes me to the next screen where I have a select "device box" and a "select task" box. Checking the "all devices" option results in "0 devices select". If I click on the "+" sign on the "all devices" option to expand a list of all devices, it changes to a "-" but does not show any devices.
About the screen shot, due to the confidential nature of my work environment, I may not be allowed to do that. I'm checking with the security manager about that now.

LMS 4.2 Custom Templates

I trying to create and deploy at custom config template to my lab router. When I try to preview the cli commands there is a error. I am unable to determine what the causing the error. Is there some kind a log I can view to determine whats causing the error. There is no validation process for the templates once created it the cli template creation phase. <see attached>

Unfortunately, there no such way by which you could do this on LMS as it not an available feature.
Syslog is amongst one of the basic feature in LMS and doesn't have a lot of custom attributes for Syslog Management.
Only option you have when a syslog arrives is :
> Send an email about that particular syslog.
> Execute a script.
> Go and run a URL.
The above options are known as Automated Actions (AA). Apart from AA, you can't define anything for a syslog.

LMS RME Compliance Mgtm - Template Question

I have LMS 3.2 on Windows. I have a question about compliance template. How I can describe unknown values in template? For example: I have routers with 2 - 3 syslog server (on each router they are different) and I want remove all of them and add new.

I have syslog 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.2 (and in routers config i have several "bad" syslog with "random" addresses):
If i wrote:
+   logging   10.0.0.1
+   logging   10.0.0.2
-   logging [#?!(10\.0\.0\.1)#]
RME tries remove all syslog servers ("good" and "bad")
If i wrote:
+   logging   10.0.0.1
+   logging   10.0.0.2
-   logging [#(?!10\.0\.0\.1)#]
RME says ok and don't remove "bad" servers

Attaching the notification template to a approval workflow or process OIM11

we have customized our approval workflow at request level, and operational level approval making default approval based on approval policy. Now the question is we need to send a mail notification to manager to approve the request and then when whole request is completed then the mail has to be sen to the user that new account has been created for that resource.
here the user is request a resource by using self-resource request template.
i have seen the notifications but how would make these notification are triggered at above events

Your first step is to clearly define when the notifications must go out.
1. Email to Approver for task assigned - If you have built a SOA Composite and in your code, you have retrieved the user manager value and assigned to that user, then with this value, you can also code for a custom notification. From the request data, you can retrieve the beneficiary and the resource for which is requested. Using these, you can use a notification resolver class to pass those values in to your notification. 2. Email to user when Resource has been provisioned - This will happen on the provisioning side, and you can attach to your Create User task and use the notification tab. I do not know if these still work, but create a new email definition from the design console. Open the create user task, go to the notification tab, select the User as your target, status is C, and then select your email definition. Another option would probably be an event handler that is triggered on the status of Provisioned for that resource, but someone else might be able to provide more insight on this as i have not configured one yet.

MSS different cost center by approved time sheet

In Table CATSDB seen we the results from time entry. The fields Send cost center and receiver cost center. An employee has an standard costcenter as masterdata. When this person works a couple of hours on a cost center that differs from his standard (master data), he giving in the cost center were he works on. Every thing is ok in ESS.
In MSS in the team viewer this person belongs to a team. Bij the approval of time sheets he displays standard (master data) and the u2018differentu2019 cost center. This situation we want to avoid. The u2018differentu2019 cost center is somebody else his responsilibility.
I try something with Cost center responsility. Can someone help me?

I have the same requirement where i have to default the Sending cost center and Actiivty type from infotype 315 in the CAT2 sending cost center and activity , but in the cats profile defaults section i have kept the Cost Center and acitivyt type checboxes being checked , still iam not getting the values of the 0315, please could you let me know how to default the values in cat2.

LMS 3.2 Compliance Template syntax help

I want to add the command "no logging event link-status" to all switchport mode access ports EXCEPT for the ones with the following switchport access vlans: 4022,4032,4042,4052,4072 & 4082. How do I create a compliance template to do this?

Tried it & it didn't work. Here is a sample config of the ports. Command should not deploy on ports fa1 & 3 & gi1 but should deploy on fa2,4-8.
