LMS 4.2.4: Device Performance Management Summary is temporarily unavailable.

Hi
has anyone an idea what that message means? All processes are running fine and I can't find that error message in any log or documentation.

Though it is time consuming to stop daemon --> do a transaction log receovery --> and restart daemon to check effectiveness, it will be much better to try it once, which has a fair probability of fixing the issue.
Please try following procedure for Transaction log receovery :
Do a trasaction log recovery for all Db's :
     * Goto NMSROOT/databases/upm and remove upm.log file.
     * on command prompt run following command :
dbsrv10 -f  upm.db
Example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\CSCOpx\databases\upm>dir *.log
Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is E492-A3AB
  Directory of C:\Program Files (x86)\CSCOpx\databases\upm
03/27/2012  07:01 AM           196,608 upm.log
               1 File(s)        196,608 bytes
               0 Dir(s)  27,119,108,096 bytes free
C:\Program Files (x86)\CSCOpx\databases\rmeng>del upm.log (you have to delete if from GUI, cli mostly doesnt work)
C:\Program Files (x86)\CSCOpx\databases\rmeng>dbsrv10 -f upm.db
On Solaris, try :
env LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/CSCOpx/objects/db/lib64 /opt/CSCOpx/objects/db/bin64/dbsrv10 -f /opt/CSCOpx/databases/upm/upm.db
Else for reinitialize, following is the command :
Solaris : /opt/CSCOpx/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=upm dmprefix=UPM
Windows : NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=upm dmprefix=UPM
-Thanks

  • LMS 4.2.3 Performance management

    Hi All,
For device count 100(CWLMS-4.0-100-K9 ) how many interfaces or how many devices can be managed by the performance management(HUM).
While creating the new poller with 2 devices(430 interfaces) added its showing an warning
"number of devices for this license.this software license can manage only manage a limited number of devices".
Is the number of pollers can be added are dependent on hardware or the device license count ??
Below link says the number of MIBs managed are dependent on the hardware. but i'm receiving an software license warning.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/4.2/user/guide/lms_monitor/mnt-perf.html#wpxref56221
There are already 23 pollers created in which 4 are in inactive state. Can anybody please let me know the capacity of the performance management??
looking forward to hearing back from you.
    Regds,
    Channa

    Hi Ian,
If you are not using EnergyWise Feature in LMS , you can disable it .
    follow the below workaround:
    #Stop the Daemon Manager
    net stop crmdmgtd
+Unregister the EnergyWise process to disable it and don't  allow it to come
up in the next restart :
    From : NMSROOT/CSCOpx/bin , run :
    pdreg -u EnergyWise
    +Start the services :
    # net start crmdmgtd
I am sure , this will cut down the CPU.
    Thanks

  • Campus Manager states devices "not managed"

Hi, I have the following ciscoworks installation:
LMS 3.1.1 and Campus Manager 5.0.5
I have disabled auto mode and manually included my devices which are all in the DCR, i've also checked all the device snmp credentials. After performing a data collection most devices still show up as not managed. Of several 6500's and 7200's only 1 is showing as managed. What can I do to fix this?  thx
P.S the abovementioned devices are in my include list. They are not in the exclude list

It could be that Data Collection is not completing properly.  Post the ani.log after running a Data Collection.

  • LMS 4.0 Inventory add/import/manage page hangs

Hi! I am trying to access the module add/import/manage without success. I am seeing only the sign "Loading" for a long time in my IE browser. I`ve tried to restart browser and access from a different PC - nothing changes. All the others modules are working well.

How were these devices added?  You can uncheck auto allocation, click Apply.  Then re-check and click Apply.  Does the behavior change?  Or perhaps you could try deleting a device and re-adding it to verify it populates throughout the application.
    Adding Managed Devices
If you do not configure the Device Policy Management using Inventory > Device Administration >  Device Allocation Policy, you can manually add managed devices.
You can select a device from the device selector, which shows only the unmanaged devices, and add it  as a managed device. To do this select Inventory > Device Administration > Add as Managed Devices.
If you neither configure the Device Policy Management nor manually add managed devices, devices will  not be automatically managed in LMS, in spite of adding the devices in DCR, using Inventory > Device  Administration > Add / Import / Manage Devices > Add, and discovering them using Inventory >  Device Administration > Discovery > Launch / Summary.

  • Performance manager collection

The majority of the host end device data is collected but there are hosts that there is no data just n/a in the following fields:
Avg. Rx/sec Avg. Tx/sec (Rx+Tx)/sec Peak Tx/sec Peak Tx/sec Errors Discards all have n/a entries. How do I enable the collection for these hosts.

Performance Manager does not collect statistics on nonmanageable and non-MDS switches. Loop devices (FL/NL) are not collected.
One year's worth of data for two variables (Rx and Tx bytes) requires a round-robin database (rrd) file size of 76 K. If errors and discards are also collected, the rrd file size becomes 110 K. The default internal values are as follows:
•600 samples of 5 minutes (2 days and 2 hours)
    •700 samples of 30 minutes (12.5 days)
    •775 samples of 2 hours (50 days)
    •300 samples of 1 day
A 1000-port SAN requires 110 MB for a year's worth of historical data that includes errors and discards. If there were 20 switches in this SAN with equal distribution of fabric ports, about two to three SNMP packets per switch would be sent every 5 minutes for a total of about 100 request or response SNMP packets required to monitor the data.
Because of their variable counter requests, flows are more difficult to predict storage space requirements for. But in general you can expect that, each extra flow adds another 76 KB.

  • Predefined Performance Management process Issues

    Hello
    1. Is it possible for the High level managers to have a display access to employee's appraisal documents in PMP (Predefined Performance management)?
    2. Is it possible for Further participants (such as dotted line managers, etc) to participate in Appraisal process for PMP. I tried using Part Appraisers. But the Part Appraisers are only getting access while appraisal status is In process - Part Appraisal". We want these Part Appraisers / Further participants to get access to employee's appraisals starting from Goal Planning status.
    3. We wanted to add additional Criteria Groups (VB) to the PMP Appraisal Template. I have added a Project Goals Criteria Group. But that's not being shown in PMP web interface (although it is being shown in Flex-Form).
I have been realizing that the PMP, which is very good web design does not have ANY flexibility to change Template or process.
The Flexi-Form, which is very flexible in terms of Template Design, does not offer the Goal Cascading functionality and Competency Goals functionality.
I am surprised that the PMP is very un-flexible (contrary to what SAP advertised).
Any suggestions for my above 3 problems?
    Thanks
    Raghu Kolukuluri

    Hi Wim:
Thanks for taking the time to read through my rambling and for responding.
I guess the point of what I was trying to get at is why it would be an unlikely scenario to put the configuration for predefined into PHAP_CONFIG and then let you modify it to suit the whim of your customer.
My intention was not to suggest the impossibility of integrations in the flexible template.  There are certainly enhancements to accomplish integration with the Qualification catalog and LSO, and even the old school Development Plans that virtually no one uses.
However, as someone who has seen Predefined in a production environment; I have to tell you, I do disagree that the alignment of goals is the only 'functionality' piece missing from Flexible.  A quick summary of other items missing out of the box:
    - Potential Assessment
    - Calibration with drag & drop capability of entire team
    - Integration with the Talent Profile - Assessments tab
    - Target rating distribution %
    - Profile matchups to positions other than the employee's own position
That obviously excludes the UI stuff that's been addressed above.  These things above come in Predefined automatically with literally no work other than what basically is equivalent to a configuration wizard.
Now, could you create that in Flexible?  Sure, anything's possible with enough time and money, right?  You can certainly dig into the code and create equivalent custom code for your Flexible template.  But like I noted above, it certainly appears to at least me that SAP has continued improving Predefined in EhP5 and made no improvements to Flexible.  So in my opinion you run the risk of creating something supremely custom for your customer in order to satisfy some requirement like 1 over 1 approval of a final rating.  Then, when EhP6 or whatever comes out, the customer decides they want to start leveraging those Predefined improvements, they've painted themselves into a corner of sunk costs, or continuing to customize Flexible.
To me, that doesn't seem like a good solution, especially for a business unit like HCM that really doesn't generate revenue.  I elluded to this in an earlier post, but I really like that Predefined has a process already built into it.  It's not like SAP made that up from nowhere, they presumably built that from feedback they'd gotten from customers, along with feedback that it was frustrating how much time and money it costs to build an appraisal system that - while necessary in the corporate world - generates no revenue for the company.
Let me know what you think though.  I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Chris
Edit: I have no idea why the formatting won't hold.  It doesn't look this bad when I edit it, sorry

  • Performance manager-collection,flow

Hi, in the collection wizard I can't find port-channel interfaces ( ISLs ). But in the real-time monitoring I can monitor all ISLs and port-channels. How can I collect history of port-channels? I have also IVR configured and I am not able to setup flows for IVR source and destination. I don't see the devices in the flow wizard. I see only devices within a single VSAN. How can I do that? Thanks in advance for Your Help.

I opened a TAC case and the answer is:
Customer can create a collection with the performance manager for ISLs,
host, storage and the flows, not for the port channels. (Port channels
are not supported) The wizard is not able to be used for the the flow
creation for the IVR devices since the flow is created within a VSAN.
    Unfortunately this is as designed.
I think it's really a very big problem when You can't monitor port-channels and IVR flows!!! That does mean this features are not usable in production environment where monitoring is a must!!! Why is this not written in the documentation on the first page with bold. It's really frustrating. Thanks for Your help.

  • Performance Management Architect doesn't display applications

    Hi,
I am reading through the Performance Management Architect Administrators Guide (System 11 release) from Oracle trying to figure out how to work with Hyperion Planning and Essbase. First of all, is the Architect just a fancy name for certain functions in Workspace? Because the documentation describes accesssing Archictect through the Workspace Navigate options. Second, the Application Library is defined in the documentation as "A summary of applications that have been created and/or deployed to Financial Management, Planning, Profitability and Cost Management, Essbase Aggregate Storage Option (ASO), or Essbase Block Storage Option (BSO)." It also says I can create Planning applications here as well.
I follow the directions to access the Application Library - When in Workspace, I go to Navigate > Administer > Application Library, a new tab comes up, but there is nothing in the tab. It is completely blank. I have created several Planning applications, including initializing the Sample Application that comes with the Planning installation. I can view this application from Workspace or the Planning Web-app. Does anyone know why it is not showing up in the Application Library? If I want to build my own outline and define dimensions and members to create a planning applicaiton that works with my own sample data, where do I go to do this?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The planning applications that you have created maybe classic planning applications so you won't see them in the EPMA application library. There are two methods of managing planning applications either the classic method or through EPMA.
You can create a new planning application through EPMA or you can upgrade one of your classic applications to an EPMA version.
    Cheers

  • Oracle Performance Management - Notifications to Plan Population Members

    All:
I've been working with Performance Management for several years and am implementing for a customer now.  They are on R12.1.3 RUP6.  We're creating notifications to be administered by the Performance Management Admin and the customer has asked for some simple definitions of the Plan Population Members & Statuses.  I created this matrix, based on my own understanding and assumptions and wanted to see if anyone could validate to be sure I have these definitions correct.  Please note that in the "Who Received The Message" column, where "worker" is listed in the matrix, I have only used the term "employee" since the customer is not evaluating contingent workers.  I realize worker could be either an employee or contingent worker.
Could anyone please tell me where I may have gotten the "Who Receives the Message" definitions wrong?  I've checked online documentation and there isn't anything I could find that makes an attempt to map this.
    Thank you,
    Mark
    Plan Population
    Who Receives The Message
    All managers in the plan
All Managers who have active, eligible employees or terminated employees (during the appraisal period).
All eligible workers for the plan
All employees, regardless of their status in the plan.
All managers with at least one ongoing appraisal
Managers who have not completed all appraisals for their employees.  These will be in “Ongoing with Manager” status
All workers with appraisal pending feedback
Employees, whose managers have submitted their performance appraisals to them, complete with Overall Rating and Performance Summary and are awaiting their response.
All workers with at least one ongoing appraisal
Employees who still have an appraisal sitting with them in draft form, not submitted to their manager.
All managers with at least one incomplete scorecard
Managers with employees who have not completed their scorecards
All managers with at least one scorecard pending for review
Managers who haven’t completed the review of at least one employee’s goals
All managers with at least one scorecard not yet started
This is when the manager begins the goal-setting process (cascading approach) and who have not started creating their employees’ goals (at least one).
All managers with at least one scorecard in transfer
Managers have transferred the employee’s goals back to them and the employee has not returned
All managers with at least one scorecard transferred out
Managers who have updated their employee’s goals and have transferred them to the employee for review.
All workers with an incomplete scorecard
Employees who have started working on their goals, but have not completed them and they are still in draft.
All workers with scorecard pending for managers review
Employees who have submitted their goals to the manager, but the managers has not acted on (updated or approved) the scorecard.
All workers with scorecard not yet started
Employees who have an active scorecard, but have not opened it, started writing or saving the record.
All workers with scorecard in transfer
Employees who have transferred their goals back to their manager.
All workers with scorecard transferred out
Employees who have transferred their goals from one plan to another plan (e.g., from Student Plan to Lab Regular Plan)
All workers with scorecard pending with them
Employees who have received their goals back and need to review and resubmit.
An individual worker or manager (can select from list of values)
This is an option when generating a notification.  You can select a single person and use a notification expressly for hers or his benefits.

    Sanjay,
As always, thank you for responding and for your insight.  Your clarifications and thoughts here really helped.  I am also going to post what I received back from Bina Kulkarni at Oracle.  This might be helpful for anyone here looking for additional clarification on the WPM Notifications.  Thanks again for your help!
    Take care,
    Mark
    Plan Population
    Who Receives The Message
    Comments
    All managers i the plan
All Managers who have active, eligible employees or terminated employees (during the appraisal period).
Terminated managers will no longer be part of the plan population & hence will not receive any messages.
Here the Appraisal can be in Planned or Saved status.
Points 10 & 11 below seem the be the same. I think both cases talk about Managers who have set goals for their employees and transferred the scorecard to the employees for their review.
All managers with at least one scorecard transferred out
Managers who have updated their employee’s goals and have transferred them to the employee for review.
    Same as above
All workers with an incomplete scorecard
Employees who have started working on their goals, but have not completed them and they are still in draft.
All workers with scorecard pending for managers review
Employees who have submitted their goals to the manager, but the managers has not acted on (updated or approved) the scorecard.
When employees transfer their scorecard to their managers, the manager can either approve the objectives in the scorecard or Approve and finish objective setting, whereby the scorecard status changes to 'Published' and can no longer be worked upon.
All workers with scorecard not yet started
Employees who have an active scorecard, but have not opened it, started writing or saving the record.
All workers with scorecard in transfer
Employees who have transferred their goals back to their manager.
All workers with scorecard transferred out
Employees who have transferred their goals from one plan to another plan (e.g., from Student Plan to Lab Regular Plan)
Transferred out means the employee is transferred out of the plan due to hierarchy changes, eligibility changes or termination. In this case the transferred out scorecard is no longer visible amd the objectives from such a scorecard cannot be retrieved.
All workers with scorecard pending with them
Employees who have received their goals back and need to review and resubmit.
This means that the employees have not completed objective setting from their end.
An individual worker or manager (can select from list of values)
This is an option when generating a notification.  You can select a single person and use a notification expressly for hers or his benefits.
I think you are referring to an Ad-Hoc approver here.
    All Appraisal Participants
Appraisers, Reviewers or Other Participants who have not completed their appraisal feedback about the employee.
    All Approvers
Approvers of appraisals (AME defined or added Ad-hoc)

  • Email profile uses Device Enrollment Manager user?

    Hello,
I have an iOS device that was enrolled via the Apple Device Enrollment Program, using a Device Enrollment Manager account, and I have since deployed an email profile configuration policy to it.  After it received the policy now the account
of the Device Enrollment Manager is locked in as the user in the email profile.  Is that normal behavior?  I thought that enrolling a device using a user who is a member of the Device Enrollment Management group would leave the device open for another
    user?
    Thanks!

Hello, I was looking through TechNet a little more about this and unless I'm reading this wrong, which is certainly possible, it seems to suggest that you should be able to access company data as the end user using CYOD enrollment or a device enrollment
    manager enrollment scenario:
User affiliation – Specifies how devices are enrolled.
Prompt for user affinity – The device can be affiliated with a user during initial setup and could then be permitted to access company data and email as that user. This mode supports a number of scenarios:
Corporate-owned personal device – “Choose Your Own Device” (CYOD) Similar to privately owned or personal devices but the administrator has certain privileges including permission to wipe, reset, administer, and unenroll the device. The
device’s user can install apps and has most other permissions for device use where not blocked by management policy.
Device enrollment manager account – The device is enrolled using a special Intune administrator account. It can be managed as a private account, but only a user who knows the enrollment manager credentials can install apps, wipe, reset,
administer, and unenroll the device. For information about enrolling a device shared by many users through a common account, see
Enroll corporate-owned devices with the Device Enrollment Manager in Microsoft Intune.
No user affinity – The device is user-less. Use this affiliation for devices that perform tasks without accessing local user data. Apps requiring user affiliation are disabled or won’t work.
With this in mind, since accessing corporate data as the user is supported with CYOD and device enrollment manager, I can't imagine that the intention of the device enrollment managers (DEM) group was designed so when a device is enrolled with a DEM
user that only data for that DEM user is available, right?  That just wouldn't make sense.  Also, if enrolling a device using a DEM user account is only for devices that don't need access to corporate data, then what's the difference between enrolling
a device using a DEM user, or enrolling a device with "No user affinity"?  Also, when I've enrolled a device using a DEM account, I was later easily able to install apps with no prompt for DEM credentials, TechNet seems to imply that credentials
are needed for functions like that.  Shouldn't something have asked me for permission to install an app?

  • Performance Management Objective Setting

    Hi Everyone,
I am working on a full HCM implementation and had a few questions regarding performance management.  The client is interested in having goals and objectives "cascade" through org. units and pre-load on Performance Appraisal templates.
In the phap_catalog, I have noticed a value determination named "ORG_OBJECTIVES" and it supposedly auto-fills goals set by managers for the performance review period.
Basically, I am looking for a productive/proper way to have goals flow from the overall organization, through lower level organizational units down to each and every employee.
For example: Company X has 3 overall goals -> Bob Smith works within Org. Unit Y in which there are 3 separate goals that refer to this Org. Unit -> and then Bob Smith has the ability to add 3 of his own goals for the year.  Overall there would be 3 overall company goals, 3 org. unit goals (total of 6 that pre-fill) and 3 empty fields for Bob Smith to input his own goals.
Any help would be wonderful.  Thank you for your time.

    Raghu,
    Your response was extremely helpful.
Do you have any documentation or guidance on how I could create custom tables to use this BADI that you are talking about.  Currently there is no plan for SEM, so I am going to have to take the route of custom tables utilizing the BADI that you mentioned.  In terms of custom tables, creating them and using them, I only have a high level knowledge, so any documentation/guidance would be very helpful.
    Regards,
    Adam P.

  • Performance Manager  and Data Gatherer

    Hello,
I am looking for some basic info (I think). I have been using the EM Console - standalone for some time now but would like to use the diagnostic pack and Performance Manager. Can this be used in a standalone configuration or do I need to buy Enterprise Manager? If it works in a standalone configuration and I do not need to buy it, could you point me in the direction of documentation on how to start the data gatherer on my 9i database on AIX 5?
    Thanks,
    Jeff Graham

you have to find the keyword to see...
i suggest you to uninstall businessobjects and install again(else it's very hard to add the performance management program).
while you install, check the install performance management also(you have to have the keyword).

  • Replacimg performance Manager with SSM(SAP Strategy management)

    Hi,
Can any body tell me  how to migrate all the scorecards, KPIs  based on Performance Manager to SAP Strategy Management. Is there is a tool for that in SSM if not should those be rebuilt in SSM from the scratch.
how do we replicate everything fromPM to  SSM
From the developer perspective what will their tasks.

    Chris,
What the External Data Loader does is to allow you to transfer your scorecard structure from Performance Manager to Strategy Management. What you are importing is the structure of Contexts, Perspectives, Objectives and KPI aspects. It allows you to put all of these in the loader, verify the structure in the loader, and then using Transport to bring into SSM.
There are additional definitions and settings that SSM requires that will have to be added after you Transport the loader's data.
You will still have to build PAS models separately, because the External Data Loader does not build models.
The Transporter tool in SSM allows you to export (and then import) your scorecard metadata from DEV to PROD. Moving between systems is a two-step process, and Transporter is step one. PAS is separate (step two) and you make a dump of the model in your DEV system, take that dump file from the Home directory in DEV and move it to the Home directory in PROD. In the PROD system you create a new PAS model frame and then load that dump into the new framework.
Each SAP customer has a super-administrator that can add users to the SAP Service Marketplace. Find out who your super-admin is and get yourself added to allow you access to those areas on Service Marketplace.

  • Managers can't see their employees when creating apprisal documents in Performance Management

    Hi All,
I'm looking for you experts to enlighten me regarding an issue with the SAP Performance Management solution. We have recently (2013) implemented the Performance Management solution and everything has worked as expected. Now, we are in the process where the managers create the employees appraisal documents for the evaluation of the year 2013. The issue we are encountering is that managers who have been transfer to a new organizational unit are not able to see the employees which they supervised before the transfer.
Currently our company has an structural profile which is assigned to all the managers and supervisors, and this profile gives access to the employees which are assign to the manager or supervisor. In addition we have an MSS role for managers and supervisors, and here we added the authorization object P_HAP_DOC to authorize manager to perform the PM process.
Why the managers/supervisors who have been transfer are not able to see their employees?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your response,
Yes, as the manager (appraiser) I have created the document in documents_todo.htm.
I went to t-code phap_admin_pa and the document exists.  The manager's name and employee's name are listed and the status is listed as In Process.
When I use t-code phap_start_bsp, then documents_received_open2.htm and log in as the employee, there are no documents listed.
I am not sure what is missing Any more ideas?
