LMS 4.2 MIBs Polled

Hi All,
Want to understand the poller management and how many MIBs are polled by each interface if we are using interface utilization template.
I have created the poller with adding the interface utilization template and there were 10 interfaces added to the poller.
In the doc got to know  3 MIBs are polled interface utilization template.but after creating the poller and creating the report says there were totally 40 instances in the report. Each interface polling the 4 MIBs.
64txutilization
64rxutilization
ifHCoutoctets
ifHCinOctets
for 10 interfaces x 4 mibs = 40 instances in the report.
Can anyone clear me what are the mibs are polled for interface utilization template and how many for each instance.
Regds,
Channa

Hi Elisabeth,
Kindly check the below thread answered by my Friend Vinod.  Hope it will answer your query.

  • # of MIBs polled in LMS 4.2

Is there a way to see how many MIBs are currently being polled in LMS?

It is difficult to say how many MIBs are polled by LMS server as it will depend on very server basis. LMS as in background works as individual module for feature classifiaction. And it will depend on what MIBs are used by which module and if that module is enabled in LMS or not.
Like for Campus data that includes Data Collection, end host tracking and topology management features it uses some sets of MIBs which is defined in NMSROOT\campus\etc\cwsi\mibinfo.dat file.
For fault management details of initial snmpwalk is in NMSROOT\objects\smarts\conf\discovery\snmpwalk.conf, but details information on what MIBs are used are mentioned in LMS monitoring and troubleshooting user guide's MIBs Polled section.
For Inventory and Config management, there is no clear details available but the debugtool under
MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\debugtools\inventory directory tells what MIBs are mostly needed.
Though these MIB differs device to device and depedning on their OS, as one perticular information via one device may be fetched through X-MIB the same information via Y-MIB.
Some other MIBs which can initially can be used are by device discovery process. It also depends what module you select for discovery which will get devices accordingly, like CDP, ARP, routing table, OSPF, BGP etc.
At last there is health and utilization module which has no limits because you can add any mib to it and poll your own variables to collect results.
So I am not sure what originates your question and why you need a specific detail on MIBs, but giving you exact details need the entire engineering data for LMS, which I think it difficult.

  • LMS 4.0 Archive Poller starts failing after some working cycles

    Hi,
We have a LMS 4.0 running in our network with arround 650 nodes.
We are having problems with the Archive Poller.
The first few days it worked fine, but then it started to fail for some devices and on the next day it failed to poll all devices. I have restarted the daemon manager after the failure and it came back working fine for another few days. Since then the Change Poller works for a few days, then it degrades polling to a complete failure, a restart of the daemon manager get it working only for a few days.
Here is some output of a failed node:
    *** Device Details for zagora4-sw ***
Protocol ==> Unknown / Not Applicable
Selected Protocols with order ==> Telnet,SSH
    Execution Result:
Unable to get results of job execution for device. Retry the job after increasing the job result wait time using the option:Admin > Collection Settings > Config > Config Job Timeout Settings
It seems that the poller is not even trying to poll nodes...?
Do you think the DB might got corrupted, as I restarted the machine without shutting down the processes some weeks ago...
Any hints or ideas would be appreciated !

    Hi @ all

  • LMS 4.1 Periodic Polling

Does Periodic Polling also collect or or just checks for changes and then  a Periodic Collection must be run to collect the changed configs?
i ask this because i see someone has configed both to run daily on our system.

if someone would succeed in blocking SNMP, and thus preventing change detection, the weekly collection will still pick up any changes.
The polling is done on pure SNMP, where the collection uses all protocols that are allowed in RME,(TELNET, SSH, RCP, SCP, TFTP, etc)
The SYSLOG automated actions is a part of RME that listens for SYSLOG messages from the devices. You devices must be configured to send SYSLOG to the server of course. Certain messages indicate a (potential) change and trigger a collection job.

  • ACE module - should 'sh serverfarm' and the SNMP OID 'slbVServerNumberOfConnections' show the same value?

I've recently begun to notice that the current connections value displayed by the ACE when using the 'sh serverfarm' command isn't matching up with the value returned by a custom MIB poller I'm using to return the value of the associated 'slbVServerNumberOfConnections' OID when I had assumed that they represented the same thing?
As an example at the moment the ACE is showing 400 current connections for a particular serverfarm but my customer poller is returning 250?
I'd noticed this behaviour whilst the ACE was running software version A2(1.6a) and had hoped that an upgrade to A2(2.3) might fix it but it hasn't - assuming it's a bug as opposed to just my misunderstanding of what value 'slbVServerNumberOfConnections' is actually returning?
Can anyone explain what I'm seeing or am I polling the wrong OID?
    Thanks in advance
    regards
    Matthew

What about the 'show conn' ? do you see 400 or 250 concurrent connections ?
    What about 'sho service-policy'
The OID refers to the VIP not the serverfarm.
Also the show serverfarm is known to display incorrect information
CSCtc94844: ACE: show serverfarm current connection counter incorrect
The fix will be in A2(2.4)

  • LMS 4.2 Create Portlet from Custom Poller

    Hi folks,
I create a custom poller, and would like to add it as a portlet.  I see that histo and live-graph it allow you to configure custom values, but they don't seem to accomplish what I need.  I'd just like a portlet showing the specific output from the poller I created, not one where I have to select a specific device, a specific MIB, etc (already did that with the poller).
Any ideas?  The poller has a specific handful of devices defined already; it seems redundant to then have to definte them all again within Live Graph It.
    Thanks for any info!

I have attached a more detailed output from the IC_Server.log file for the Inventory Collection job of the device.
The error at first glance appears to be related to EnergyWise, so I even tried creating an SNMP view that excludes the EnergyWise MIB with the following configuration:
    snmp-server view EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB iso included
    snmp-server view EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB ciscoEnergywiseMIB excluded
    snmp-server community L1ghty3@rSnmp$ view EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB RO
    snmp-server group ADMIN v3 auth read EXCLUDE-ENERYGYWISE-MIB
But that didn't seem to fix it, the Inventory Collection still fails.  (Perhaps this configuration is incorrect?).
Has anyone experienced any issues like this?  I have tried everything I can think of to fix this, and have trawled through the support forums but couldn't find anything.

    Hi,
First of all very nice research with logs

  • Deleted device still gets polled in LMS 4.2.5

    Hello together,
I see in our firewall log that the LMS server is polling some devices which have been deleted a long time ago. I can't see these devices in the inventory or anywhere else in the Web-Gui.
Do I have to rebuild one of the databases, which would be the right one?
Or can I check a file in which all devices are listed which get polled periodically.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
can you check ,if you have any Alias device in LMS
Go  to Inventory > Device Administration > Device Aliases.
If yes delete them from the above location.
Also check the attached screen shot and search the device via both ip address / hostname which you think should not be in LMS.
    Thanks-

  • Error polling inventory on LMS 3.2

I've recently rebuilt an LMS 3.2 installation and applied SP 1 (after having a number of issues attempting to patch the existing installation).  The DCR has been slaved to another LMS 3.2 install without SP1 and it has successfully acquired all our network devices.  However, whenever I attempt to run an inventory poll on any device I get this error:  "RICS0001:Internal Error, unable to process the collected data from the device."
Setting the three ICServer logs to DEBUG results in an error appearing in IC_Server.log stating:  "Device does not exist in RME, Please check if device is already deleted".
RME is configured to manage all devices, and it definitely exists as I am able to run the same poll on the DCR master without error.
I have literally just installed LMS 3.2, patched to SP1, updated all device packages in RME and the MDF in CS and slaved the DCR to another LMS installation etc.  Any ideas?
I've attached the IC_Server.log file if that helps.
    Thanks!

I tried your suggestion on the DCR master and it worked.  Unfortunately it's not an option for me to delete and readd every device from the master, because we would lose our configuration change history etc. (right?).

  • ANy MIB to poll for no. of active voice channel on 2611 with T1 Module

    Hi ppl,
I have a 2611 router with a T1 voice card (NM-HDV-1T1-24) as a voice gateway in my office. IOS version c2600-is-mz.122-11.T2.bin has been loaded and running.
I have tried to poll the mib oject "cvActiveCallConnectionID " under the Cisco-Voice-Dial-Control MIB for no. of active voice channel. I use solarwinds engineering edition 2002 to poll this device. It shows an error said that the mib is not supported in this version of IOS. We are running VoFR in our existing environment
I have checked in the Cisco MIB webpage --
    ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/supportlists/c2611/c2611-supportlist.html
-- that the IOS is supported in version 11.3!!! Is it only support in 11.3 or any later version?
If not, any possible mib or workaround can solve my problem.
    Regards,
    Sam

The information is in the mib object cvCallActiveTable. There is no frame-relay equivalent to the VoIP object. The only frame-relay specific SNMP info you can verify is CISCO-VOICE-FR-DIAL-CONTROL-MIB

With only excerpts of logs and no debugging, it's impossible to say what the problem is.  I don't see anything here that shows a problem.  Enable ICServer debugging under RME > Admin > System Preferences > Application Loglevel Settings.  Then, if possible, reschedule the system polling job to run while you are there.  It is important to be able to capture a thread dump of the job's JVM as well as ICServer's JVM when the output in the job log stops.  To capture these dumps, send a SIGQUIT to the PIDs of ICServer and the job.  You can get both PIDs from the output of the pdshow command.  The job's process name will be the job ID number.

    Hi Lothar,
It will poll all the interfaces if you have selected the complete device while configuring the poller .
While configuring the Pollers use the Option called “Poll by User Selection >>  Select the instances on which you want to poll the devices” .
Poll by User Selection > will give you the option of selecting on those interface whihc you want to monitor against the Template (cpu , interface availblity etc)
I have attached the screen shot of the same:

  • Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 Device Availability Poller & Portlet

The default, non-editable "System" Device Availability poller appears to be the only one used by the Availability Pie Chart Portlet. Or is there a way to a show a chart based on a user defined poller, which excludes devices known to be currently offline?

    Hi ,
It's true  that you will not be able to Delete the system Defined pollers ,however you can DEACTIVATE them.
selecet system defined device availblity poller and De-activate it..
Now created a NEW poller , add the devices which you are interested in. and you should able to see the data in the PIE chart for the user defined poller.
