LMS 4.2 Portlets

I installed lms 4.2 and ran the first discovery.  Everything looks good.  What I am seeing is under My Menu -> My Dashboards -> Click on Functional, I am seeing a some strange screens I have never seen before.  I have attached a screenshot of what I am seeing.  If anyone knows what is happening, I would appreciate hearing from you.  TIA

Do you get the same behavior using the public dashboards vs the private dashboards? Anything under "My Dashboards" are private so you might want to remove the portlets and re-add them to see if the problem persists. If it does, stop the LMS and restart and get the cwportal.log from CSCOpx/log directory.

  • LMS 3.1 Portlet critical message

    Hello all,
I'm looking for a solution to send message (via script) to portlet Critical Message Windows (and eventualy delete it). Is it possible how can I do that?
    Thanks.

I'm not really an expert at this, but if you click the '+' button on any of the LMS portal "Views" e.g. "DFM", it will let you add one of these
    i) External Links
    ii) IFRAME (External)
    iii) RSS Feeds
You may utilize one of the above to achieve this, e.g. send you information to a dynamic page, and link that page/frame in LMS. But to be honest, I've never tried this.

  • LMS 4.0.1, My menu. This portlet has been undeployed.

    Hello.
I'm using LMS 4.0.1, migrating data from 3.2.
When I select My menu, My dashboards, Functional (or any other view) I can get a list of undeployed portlets.
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

  • Monitoring Dashboard - Syslog Alerts portlet (Prime LMS appliance)

We are using the Prime LMS appliance and have upgraded to 4.2.3.
Nothing is showing in the Syslog Alerts portlet on the Monitoring Dashboard.
If I click on the portlet title I go to the 24 Hour Syslog Report page.
This page has the standard settings and is set to run the report every 24 hours.
If I run it immediately, I get a nice long report of syslogs.
Nothing show in the portlet though.
I do not think DNS is populated with the device names & ip addresses (unsure how important this is).
Currently using the sysname (from SNMP) for device naming.
    Any help much appreciated.

  • LMS 4.1 - Roles and Portlet

Role management in LMS 4 is a nightmare.
Is there a documentation which map the tasks and the portlets ?
For exemple, which tasks do i need to view device availability portlet ?

It helped me to copy the existing system generated roles and use those as a template for my own role generation.  For example, I wanted to have a role that could view all configuration and device information for a select group of devices, but could not write any changes to the devices.  The HelpDesk role almost does this but even some of the performance reporting was unavailable to them.  The HelpDesk and Network Operator roles combined had just a bit too much authority, but I started with those two roles as a template and then removed configuration capabilities from the new role and had my own role with View only capability.  It's a bit time consuming, but much easier if you start with the roles they give you.

  • LMS 4.2 Create Portlet from Custom Poller

    Hi folks,
I create a custom poller, and would like to add it as a portlet.  I see that histo and live-graph it allow you to configure custom values, but they don't seem to accomplish what I need.  I'd just like a portlet showing the specific output from the poller I created, not one where I have to select a specific device, a specific MIB, etc (already did that with the poller).
Any ideas?  The poller has a specific handful of devices defined already; it seems redundant to then have to definte them all again within Live Graph It.
    Thanks for any info!

  • Cisco Prime LMS 4.2 Device Availability Poller & Portlet

The default, non-editable "System" Device Availability poller appears to be the only one used by the Availability Pie Chart Portlet. Or is there a way to a show a chart based on a user defined poller, which excludes devices known to be currently offline?

    Hi ,
It's true  that you will not be able to Delete the system Defined pollers ,however you can DEACTIVATE them.
selecet system defined device availblity poller and De-activate it..
Now created a NEW poller , add the devices which you are interested in. and you should able to see the data in the PIE chart for the user defined poller.
    Thanks-

  • Common Services portal does not appear on the LMS 3.0 homepage

    Hi,
I am encountering a problem on Ciscoworks LMS 3.0 wherein the Common Services portal does not appear on the homepage. This was after I tried to upgrade CW to LMS 3.2 but does not seem to work so I revert back to LMS 3.0. I even did a restore of the backup database but still no Common Services on the homepage.
    How do i resolve this?
Appreaciate your help. Thanks in advance!

If you're not seeing the Common Services application portlet on the Functional Portal View, then you need to open a TAC service request to get the steps to manually re-register all of the installed applications from the command line.

  • Cisco LMS 4 IEFrame

    Hello,
i have added a IEFrame in a LMS Dashboard containing some information about Cisco WCS. I works fine, just there is an issue when i open my Dashboard and I didn't start WCS before the IE Frame not showing the information. I tried to set the credentials in the IE Frame Configuration but still the same.
Further i'd like to add some Ie Frames showing authentication trends from my ACS. But i have no idea how to get the correct URL from the ACS dashboards.
    appreciate any feedback
    alex

You will likely need to login to WCS before the IFrame portlets will work.  I think prior versions of WCS provided the ability to use the credential interface within the portlet, but newer versions use a cookie/session based authentication mechanism.
I don't have a recent version of ACS handy anymore to look at, but I don't recall seeing any widget-like constructs in 5.2.  What I typically do when I need to find URLs is right-click on pages or frames and get info.  The info window will contain the direct link.

  • How to restore monitor dashboard in lms 4.1

I seem to have lost all portlets under the monitor dashboard in lms 4.1.  I am not able to add any either.  Is it possible to restore theese portlets in some way ?

  • LMS 3.2 DFM Event Summary problem

    Hi all,
I have two issues, and one question:
    Issues:
    1)
In the DFM portlet, under DFM Evnets Summary I see a list stating that I have 2 devices that have Event Name as Duplicate. When I click on the number 2, it opens up Device Fault Manager - Alerts and Activities, but it's show with no records. This has been like this for quite some time now... Any ideas on how to fix this?
    2)
I've got 5 devices in DFM that are in the DFM Device Status as Questioned. They don't exist in CS, RME nor any other place. I went to DFM Device Management and under Rediscover/Delete, and was going to delete the devices from DFM, but the delete button is grayed out. How can I remove the devices from DFM?
    And now for the Question:
I sometimes get an event in DFM Alerts and Activities that looks like this:
    Name                                                          Value
    Event_Description:               InformAlarm
Component:                         [FQDN DEVICE NAME REMOVED]: Cisco Configuration Management Trap
Description:                         Cisco Command Monitoring -> Event Command Source: SNMP, Event Config Source: Running, Event Config Destination: Network TFTP
Sometimes it gets cleared by it self... So I'm a bit interested to find out what does this event mean? and how to get rid of it?
    Any help is appreciated
    Gudvardur

It sounds like your DFM databases may have gotten out of sync with the rest of LMS.  You can clear the first two problems by following the steps in https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-8796 to reinitialize the dfmEpm, dfmInv, dfmFh, DFM.rps, and DFM1.rps databases.  Do not reinitialize the others.
As for the delete button being grayed out, this is expected when DFM is in auto-manage mode.  To activate this button, go to DFM > Device Management > Device Import and disable auto-manage mode.
The config management trap you're seeing will occur whenever the config changes on the device.  This event should clear on its own.

  • LMS 3.2 - LMS Portal -- How to set 'My Portal' View as Default-View?

    Hi all,
LMS Portal comes up with three default views (My Portal, CiscoWorks Portal, LMS).
As within My Portal it is possible to change layout and sorting, I would like to set this view as
the default view comming up at login.
    How can this be configured?
    Actually LMS View comes up.
    Thanks for any feedback

You have to add the portlet Ciscoworks Admin to your portal
With this portlet you can set the default view
Add portlet -> Ciscoworks -> Other -> Ciscoworks Admin

  • LMS 4.2.5 - UserTracking Connected End Host Report not useable

    Hi all,
trying to understand the different available UserTracking-Reports (Active End Host Report, Dormant End Host, Connected End Host) provided by UserTracking Summary Portlet I struggled with understanding the Connected End Host Report.
In Docs an End Host in status connected is: End hosts that are connected to the network but do not have its MAC address entry in the connected switch CAM table.
Executing this Connected End Hosts Report I'm not able to understand the output:
User Name    MAC Address    Host Name    IP Address    Subnet    Status    Switch    Port    VLAN    Last Seen
    1.                 Connected        Fa0/2   AK-ETH23  14 Dec 2014, 05:17:44
    2.                 Connected        Fa0/13  VLAN0178  14 Dec 2014, 05:17:44
    3.                 Connected        Gi0/15  inactive400  14 Dec 2014, 05:17:44
    4.                 Connected        Fa4/13  VLAN0924  14 Dec 2014, 05:17:44
    5.                 Connected        Gi0/18  inactive400  14 Dec 2014, 05:17:44
With this output nobody is able to correlate anything; simply a port and a vlan is seen, but no endhost-information/switch or switchport information!
As this can be seen on different LMS installations, it seems to be a general issue.
Anybody out the having further information?
    Thanks for your valued feedback.
    Lothar

Still no explanation from the experts?

  • LMS 3.2 : issue with custom portal : high CPU

    Hi,
Customer has a big issue with LMS.
When he connects to the standard portal, it works fine.
    pdshow seems ok.
But when he wants to work with custom portal (portal.jpg), it makes a long time to display information and when he wants select something it hangs.
CPU is very high. He must stoped/restart LMS to have a normal CPU.
    I asked him to :
    - restart LMS, he made at 14h30
    - CPU was ok and he worked with standard portal withou problems but when he tried to put debug for portal CPU increase at 15h30:
Common Services -> server -> Admin ->  CS Log Configurations: debug on CiscoWorks Portal, CiscoWorks portlets and CS Home
Process which takes a lot of CPU is tomcat, you will find pdshow.txt, stdout.log and stderr.log.
He tries to go to the custom portal but it hangs, you will find logs from debug : CSHomePage.log and CSPortal.log
he sent me AAD.log because there was " high severity alert".
    Many thanks for your help,
    Elisabeth

The most obvious problem is that DfmBroker is down.  Check to make sure tcp/9002 is not in user, then try a server reboot.  See if the AAD problems go away (and perhaps the CPU problem will as well).  If not, post the NMSROOT/objects/local/logs/broker.log.
